This is incredible, I really didn't think BNLC would have this massive of an impact but it's great to see that so many people loved these games just as much (if not more) than I used to! Haven't picked up a copy quite yet but when I do I'll be incredibly grateful for tutorials like these, I know there's a lot of stuff I never figured out as a kid so I'm excited to go back to these games soon
This is SO helpful. Anybody can look up VarSword button presses but visually seeing what putting the inputs in looks like is a game-changer. I never fooled with the chip before but it's time I learned.
Trust me, master element sonic, it deals over 600 damage, that's more than giga level damage. And you can have 4 of these bad boys, and a Z PA, it's awesome
Fantastic video. I was struggling and this helped me determine it was a overlapping input of B and Left. Also love the demonstration of the hand inputs that really hits the "its more time to input than you think" tip to not rush the inputs into making it fall away
i love how the commands are references to street fighter (longsword being the input for hadouken , and sonic boom's input vaguely resembling how guile's sonic boom command is , but they obviously could not import it straight up because it was a charge input)
Re; do not rush: "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast." I swear, I wore out the d-pad on my GBA Micro trying to get VarSwrd to do... something, anything. Even after looking up instructions. (IIRC, I was letting go of A). 😅 By the time I got to BeastMan, I'd figured out how Slasher worked, and that became my go-to boss ender (not as fast or efficient, but it hit hard and was rather reliable).
It was a little too common and relied upon at times, but part of me misses when games had all of these inputs. It's of course still in most fighting games, and I guess part of why it's now mostly relegated to that is because extreme sports games have mostly faded. I LOVE the simplicity of Dark Souls' inputs and actions bouncing off more varied enemies, for example, but it's kinda interesting to think how it'd be with this one extra layer. That'd be one crazy mod! Would probably go best with a rebalance of some of the movesets, all those fancy and impractical strong attacks being the main focus. It'd be totally cool even if they only do this for just one weapon (class?) though, more hitboxes to play with, more timing variety with emphasis on risk/reward, could make it very fresh.
Hey, this is really helpful, thank you. I'm also having difficulty with one of the Navi chip commands, I can't figure out the timing to make DesertMan's LionHeads change direction.
I actually just did this. You have to do it when the heads appear. There seems to be no real indicator on when to do it but it seems like I only got it when the heads were up
Hey pal, if MegaMan swings the basic sword pattern AFTER you input the code then you entered the wrong code. That can also be if you entered the correct code but overlapped your inputs. If MegaMan swings the basic sword pattern BEFORE you finish inputting the code then you aren't going fast enough. Speed will come with practice. Remember you do have to hold A the entire time as well. If you're playing on a controller you definitely should be able to pull off the easier codes like Long Sword and Hero Sword etc. Hope that helps.
quick question. all the varients of the attacks do 160 damage right at least per hit, it's not like using the Hero sword does 180 or using the life sword does 300 like the actual attacks right?
Yeah you've interpreted it correctly. No matter the shape it's just 160. Multiple hits is what makes the tri-slash great. And the multiple hits, no i-frames and elemental damage is what makes E-slash the strongest chip
I like Stepcross the most. Feels like good power without going over the top. And can do some great attacking of enemies you wouldn't normally be able to get to because of the 'X' shape of it
was practicing elemental sonic on the collection and I was able to do it consistently for awhile but then after about 10 minutes my hands couldn't do the inputs fast enough, granted the switch buttons are really small for my hands so maybe I should get a pro controller
For sure, I plan on making another tutorial on the other chips with input commands and then a general guide on how to beat each boss might be fun. Anything in particular you would like to see?
I'll start by saying I don't know too much about PvP, however, I think opponents would be after chips that lock you down and punish you more so than just the raw damage this chip offers.

Si!
i played thru BN3 and never knew varsword had variations due to inputs lol. Thanks for the video, this was so informational and well explained
Great video! I tried performing Varsword moves after watching this video, and I found out that spamming Element Sonic to every enemy is super fun.
This is SO helpful. Anybody can look up VarSword button presses but visually seeing what putting the inputs in looks like is a game-changer. I never fooled with the chip before but it's time I learned.
Good luck, even 10-20 minutes spent focusing on the Elemental combo is going to change your game!
@@daniellongo6583 Did my first 3x sonic boom, now for the 4x! Thanks again.
Thank you! For years I was confused how to use this chip! It seems to be very worth mastering elemental sonic boom, quite tough on a controller though
I'm plugging away at a video explaining some of the other confusing Chips!

Can you do a Guts Punch tutorial as well? I can't seem to pull off Gut Impact.
Thank you very much for this. I hate to admit but Buttons overlapping is the reason 4 elemental sonic failed to come out.
Woah, there's an entire video on this one card and how it works, that's kinda wild!
As a kid, I had the strategy guide ans tried getting the elemental slash so many times with no luck. Thank you for this video!
Varisword makes it feel like a fighting game, in a sense.
amazing explanation! this is going to help so many new and old Net Battlers
Unlimited power. Thanks for the tips. Excited to see more

shoutout to gamefaqs for the varsword tutorials from YEARS ago

I'm a big fan of Dark Souls as well. A weapon art with a small command input could be really interesting
@@daniellongo6583 Speaking Of Dark Souls,The Dark Soul AI In BN4 And 5 Uses VarSwrd/NeoVari Much Better Than A Player!
DarkSoul AI is kinda crazy
Thank you. This helps a lot. Its going to take a lot of practice, but hopeful i can get the can of this battle chip
Ahhhh now this is fantastic

Great vid!! Helps a lot seeing as I just started BN3! in the future I'd recommend increasing the volume of your voice :)
probably better to use fight game number notation for an easier way to describe the inputs
I have tried putting the codes but they never seem to work! I tried doing elemental sonic boom but nope they never work and just do normal swings!

MMBN3 had some absolutely broken chips. Especially this and Folderback.

Love this game but the game itself doesn't explain how to play it at higher levels
:)
Thank u this crazy. Anyone on PS4 I can add?
