Holy crap! In the beginning of the video you are welding an elbow assembly on The Purge plug tree. I didn't catch it the first time I watched your video but the second time around I saw the Vise grip hanging off the back for a counterweight!!! Freaking awesome idea. Thank you!
Thank you for your tips! Im doing pipe welding tests next year and these tips are very helpful. I can probably mash everyone that just learns on their own at my school, my teacher already compliment my welds that he hasnt seen as good bead in years from HVAC students
Please do a video on Flux rod and a video for amperage settings (what to look for/what to avoid). Thank you. Great videos so far. I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge.
Thanks for this great content, there are so many guys trying to teach Tig welding and discuss purging, however your subscription has been the best understandable one I've seen. I weld boat rails and exhaust in South Africa and your tips have been great. Thanks and keep it up
BC Drew been welding pipe for 30 years but not until recently did I have to weld 1/2 diameter rotated 304 sanitary ,,,, the purge pressure got to the point where I was going to rig up a flow meter for the discharge to really dial it in ,,, throwing it out there ,, your clips are top notch lots of critical info that is not in a book ,,,, thanks for sharing , is blue and gold ok on a weld
Great information. Would love to get some insight on how you walk the cup around the tube without slipping your damn hand or dipping the tungsten in the weld pool. Cheers!
Thank You so much for making this Video! I specifically asked for this one. This addressed everything I wanted to know about how to PROPERLY Back Purge. This is the most Informative Video I have seen made on this topic to date. One of the things that makes your Videos stand out aside from your Extensive Experience, is the fact that you list all the Tools/Equipment that you use and where to get it. This has always chapped my ass about some of the Guys that make Weld Videos. They're Awesome Welders, and have all these Cool Custom or Niche Tools, but don't tell you a damn thing about where to find them. You even go to far as to offer to have the "Custom" ones made for us and sell them to us, so my Hat's off to you Sir. Appreciated very much that you share ALL of your knowledge with us. Your Local Machine Shop is already gonna have the Drawings/Specs for these Parts, know what they're for, and already know what they're "set up" needs to be for building these Parts, so they're gonna be able to manufacture these at a cheaper cost than, if any of us walking in right off the street to ours and trying to explain what we want then to make. Thanks again, Phillip Chambers
@@BlueCollarDrew I just noticed the Transcript thing at the bottom. The time and care you put into your Videos is Amazing 👏 Getting ready to order myself this set of Purge Plugs with the Tree.
you forgot to mention that you shouldnt take out purge just after you finished welding becouse hot stainless with also oxidize even if its not red hot. You will not get sugar but it will be purple or blue and that's also unacceptable. Where i work we wait till we can touch the weld with hand, only then we remove purge. Anyway great wideo
I’d love a video on walking the cup on tube. I’ve been giving it a go and it works but want some tips so I can fine tune it and make it look as good as my free hand
I'd like to see your amperage setup for different fittings. Tube to tube I'm OK with usually between 36 and 45 amps for me depending on od of the tube. But bsm fittings or tri clover fittings because they act a but like a heat sink I've been struggling to get my amps right. Lack of penatration when I'm cold or burnt to the shithouse on the outside if I go hot! I guess more practice I'll get there eventually
Im hear about flux rods for Tig welding but newer see this and will be interesting wideo for watching. Btw. Would you can do with subtitles?? I'm try remove but is impossible in your movies. Thank
Hey blue collar drew. If my weld isn't pushed out or pushed in why do I still have blue color on the inside of my tube? I have no leaks I've purged long enough. Could I be applying too much heat before I step the puddle forward? I'm stepping not walking the cup.
Yes, color is a result of too much heat input. Play with your amps, travel speed, tungsten stick out and keep the tungsten as close to the metal as possible to maximize penetration and allow you to move faster
@Blue Collar Drew, where did you find the Milwaukee 3 Legged Pipe Vise/Stand?? Didn't see it in your Amazon Storefront. I thought I knew everything that they make, but have never seen that before.
I want some of those Farrell caps! They work with a end cap for a purge exhaust? I make my own purge caps for end caps just drill a 1/8 hole for exhaust
Great video, really helped a lot. Quick question, I recently bought the forensic detector but the probe they sent with it is really thick. Where did you find that thin probe that you insert into the tubing to test for oxygen? Thanks man!
My main issue is tack welding I’ve nailed the width, depth, no oxidation of the weld but my tacks I’ve never mastered. I’ll get 3 tacks without penetration but one always manages to go through and oxidize inside ruining my weld.
he didnt answer so i use fine stainless steel brush and use angle grinder with cut off discs and flapdisc that i use only with stainless so i can keep it clean. In shop i use bandsaw to cut pipes
Wdoes he have a video for the cup.walk on sani? Like cup size and sticking to pipe diameters and form... I rarely do it because...well.havent made time to practice.some say just wiggle the cup and others do a very dramatic walk.
Hey Drew- Would you be interested in fabricating / welding water jacketed exhaust tails on a performance marine application? It’s 304L 4.5”x.083” inner and 304L 5.0”x.065” outer. We are in Baltimore, MD. Thanks!
One question is Drew it's one thing to learn how to do to sanitary welding how do you get your name out there to get business in the breweries in on the dairy farms to do sanitary welding????
Magnificent piece of craftsmanship. I also would love to see the results of arc Flux rods so as to save gas, even if it isn't useable in every situation because of cleaning slack, which is time-consuming and also costly. Greets from Holland and many thanks for all your trouble to make us better, Marcel Knippers.
Cleaning and polishing pipe and tube welds!! Check it out... ruclips.net/video/JEZ066IZxYw/видео.html

a few months ago I ran a flux coated tig wire for a few open roots. I was NOT a fan lol.
I would love to see a video on that!
For 14 gauges stainless do you need filler? I'm doing 1 1/2 tube
Can we get a video on certain aspects perhaps of designing a system or this process? For example a skid, or something like this would be great.

Thanks! Gold yes. Some applications dont allow blue but for food grade it’s usually acceptable
Would like to see a video on cleaning and polishing your welds
I’ve been welding sanitary tube for twenty one years and have got to say everything this guy said in this video is one hundred percent the gospel.
Great information. Would love to get some insight on how you walk the cup around the tube without slipping your damn hand or dipping the tungsten in the weld pool. Cheers!

Oh yeah, I'd love to see some shots of the flux rod
More sanitary stuff for sure!!!! Thank you.

Definitely interested in that flux video but I NEED a stainless surface conditioning video.

Message me on instagram or drop your email here and ill send you the info
Very interesting. Keep up the good work. A tool trailer tour video would be cool.
Yeah I'd like to see that also
I want to a video on flux coated wire welding and how to clean a stainless weld
Great vid man. Would like to see a video about swagelock fittings in high pressure applications

I recently ordered it from Home Depot.. its been out for about a year but very hard to find someone who has it in stock.
@@BlueCollarDrew Copy that. I just found one at Home Depot, and got it ordered and on the way,
Thanks Drew.
I want some of those Farrell caps! They work with a end cap for a purge exhaust? I make my own purge caps for end caps just drill a 1/8 hole for exhaust
What’s the price too I got a machine shop but they want 900 a set
Reach out to me on IG if possible. Thanks

My main issue is tack welding I’ve nailed the width, depth, no oxidation of the weld but my tacks I’ve never mastered. I’ll get 3 tacks without penetration but one always manages to go through and oxidize inside ruining my weld.
For sanitary weld qualification for welders is the bend test applicable?
Yes it can be
@@BlueCollarDrew Thanks man keep it up
Great video blue collar drew
For sanitary, what type of test do they give you?
Typically just want you to run a coupon with good penetration and no color on the inside.
Hi Drew how do you access the storefront or locate the link ??
Thanks
Should be in the description below the video!
What do you use to clean up your welds? And what do you use to cut your pipe? Great video btw!
he didnt answer so i use fine stainless steel brush and use angle grinder with cut off discs and flapdisc that i use only with stainless so i can keep it clean. In shop i use bandsaw to cut pipes

Thanks Drew just found this !!!
Thanks very insightful.

Where can I get “heat tape”?
Kapton is one variety.
Good video❤
Carbide, I think. combination of iron, chromium and nickel in the steel with carbon in the atmosphere. CO2 won't work as a shield gas for this reason.
I would like to see how you polish stainless welds. 👍
A green flapper wheel does the trick, or a stainless wire brush
