Oh my days, oh my days, OH MY F***ING DAYS!!! This is it, this is what I've been searching for all of my golf life! Over the years I've had so many professional golf coaches one of whom is a top ranked English coach and not one of them as told me about this move. I've dropped from a being a 12 handicapper down to 20, the Shanks have cursed me for far too long and I've trolled RUclips looking for the magic move. Some of them work but like everything else it's a time limited offer only and then the magic disappears. Well people I'm telling you this has blown me away, just go to the range with a 9 iron and give it a go you will walk away with a sense of euphoria and the biggest smile on your face you've ever had! Mr. Malaska, Sir, what a fantastic instruction you have kindly posted, I will be forever in your dept. Can't wait to purchase your book, you sir are a golf demigod. Thank you, thank you.....thank you!

Jeff, if you really listen to what Mike is saying maybe you'll realize that the club doesn't actually standup. It's a feel! Mike just reiterates that in about a dozen of his videos. If you practice what he teaches, which I have, you will see that he is 100% correct. Good luck though.

@@easye4171 It has nothing to do with coming over the top. You are not understanding the instruction. Over the top is all about casting and opeing the shoulders too early. This instruction is about dropping the hands IN with the clubhead slightly towards the ball before the shoulder turn. There is no over the top move at all.

Just toyed with this concept in my basement and impact was instantly different. Outstanding instruction, Mike. Keep the great content coming.

I gotta say, this has blown me away. I can say this has changed my game more than anything. After 20 years of struggling and changing the swing all time, this is the first idea that makes sense. It seems so contrived at first, but feel is never real & the results simply speak for themselves. It allows a shallow, inside approach to the ball with a square clubface AND with a neutral grip. Impact feels COMPLETELY different than anything I've ever experienced. And far more effortless as well. It seems to remedy a lot of other swing flaws when performed properly. This is huge! I've been doing it wrong for decades!

I'm a senior lady golfer and I've been playing for about 30 years and always working on gaining more distance. My current handicap index is 15 and my drives usually go about 160 yards. Not one pro has ever taught me Mike's method, which has added much longed for distance. I have an extensive golf library and many golf dvds and tapes and no-one has made the swing this simple. Peter Crocker is close with his method. Is this method a secret that most professionals don't want to share for fear of people actually becoming better golfers. I always believed that there was "something" a "secret" that was not being taught, and Mike, you have shared it! This is the secret! Thank you so much. Thank you for all the you-tube videos, and trying to relay your thoughts in multiple ways. With Mike's method, I had relatively quick success with my sort irons and gained about one full club in distance (my 8 iron went from about 105 to about 115). The entire swing is totally effortless and brings you to a full finish with hips turned, shoulders turned and in total balance. You feel the smooth speed and don't even try to turn your hips - they just turn! The driver has been more of a challenge but when I make Mike's move, I see a straight shot with about 15 to 20 yards more distance! This is amazing and I am so thrilled. I'm curious about online lessons with Mike and would like to know how they work. Thanks so much, Mike. I just may get my husband and myself out to visit you for a
    lesson - I'm hoping!

With this release I'm taking wide even divots in a addition to feeling like the club is doing the work! It's sad that I'm 46 and just now learning this but it was better late than never! This is phenomenal. This has significantly improved my swing. This moves seems counter-intuitive to what every other pro says. Flatten the shaft, maintain the lag. However, I actually found I was compressing the ball better than I ever have doing this. I feel like in the transition stage I just let the clubhead tumble outward in a gentle manner. Don't use wrists just let it tumble. All I have to say is try this!

In further proof of my comment that appears directly below this one, here is Nicklaus himself in a Golf Digest article, talking about photographs of his swing in 1995: "In the left image above, taken in 1995, it looks like I'm purposely delaying the release of the club. But I can assure you I never tried to delay the hit or retain my wrist cock. That happens naturally, if you start with a proper grip, maintain a light grip pressure and keep your arms relaxed. It's impossible to release the club too early in the downswing -- as long as you move to your left side and swing the club from inside the target line." So there it is: Nicklaus' version of "release" is the one we've all come to know from countless articles and instructors. His point, again, is if you swing the club correctly with relaxed arms, the release won't happen early. In fact, he says, it's impossible.

Thank the Lord for Mike Malaska.
I've struggling to find the golf swing for 36 years. 36 YEARS. I'm athletic, mostly self-taught, but have spent some considerable money in recent years with various swing coaches and lessons. To no avail. What resulted was a fairly basic golf swing with no power, that hid a nasty over-the-top move and amounted to very inconsistent, frustrating golf....for 36 years.
Then I stumbled on 3 of Mike's videos. I have watched them over and over and over again, taking the principles to the range to work them out piece by piece. This last week I have hit the ball consistently ...and like never before. my last 3 rounds were 38, 39, 39. And I'm still getting used to it, retraining myself.
THANK YOU MIKE! You and your ability to communicate the principles of the golf swing are a gift to all of us!

That's why I thing Jack and Tiger have won so many majors compared to others. They play with the club in front of you.
Because in motion and speed, the club head has weight. If you shallow the club, you'll end up stuck with the club "behind" your hands. To avoid that, you shallow your hands with 👉hands down n club head out concept instead of shallowing the club like 90% of the industry teaches.
If your stuck behind, you'll have to twist your body so much to compensate the club coming from behind your hands..

Mike, I wish you would edit in your lessons to show the actual movement of the clubhead from the top to the ball. It is a straight line! Because your hands drop the handle, the clubhead moves out to meet the ball. You could show that by just drawing a line from the top to the ball and show that the club follows that straight line. You are teaching the most efficient movement of the clubhead in a straight line, as seen from behind. Show that. Thanks, by the way.

  • @gabrielsotocampa1083
    @gabrielsotocampa1083 4 года назад

Mike, I've watched all your videos and am a follower of yours, but I have to ask this question. Yes if you drop the club flat behind your hands it weighs more, the end of the shaft ends up pointing to outside the ball as it shallows, Ben hogan did this, and the best golfers in the world do this. It has been written that he developed above-average strength in his hands and forearms to achieve it, but the fact that the clubhead weighs more when out of alignment to a perfect circle also is what allows more power to be delivered to the ball when properly done. I get that you are trying to help the average golfer, but I have to disagree with the idea that the shaft should point inside the ball. This relates to the concept of passive torque researched by DR Sasho Mackenzie after doing an analysis of hundreds of swings from the best golfers. Like the idea of a skier being pulled by a boat and gaining speed by resisting the direction of the boat and going away from it. Essentially I agree with your concept that the hands don't swing at the ball, what I am saying does not contradict your idea about the hand's path. The hands should indeed swing closer to the body, but with a flatter shat angle, which increases the passive torque and momentum that ultimately gets delivered to the ball. Yes this is a more difficult move to execute, you have to introduce ulnar deviation/wrist extension together with increased rotation of the body, and the tempo has to change to allow for the extra time it takes for the clubhead to travel a longer distance on the downswing, but ultimately results in higher clubhead speeds and straighter shots. This is what many modern coaches like Chris Como, Bradley Hughes, George Gankas, and others are raving about as being the secret move. Do you agree with this or could you share your opinion on the matter? Actually, I just saw you hit a ball while demonstrating this concept in one of your videos and your shaft, hands position look as I described, clubhead behind the hands, shat pointing outside the ball, which shows that you are a great golfer, but does not validate what you are saying. Sorry, I don't mean to be a hater or complainer, just I like you have had my golf swing ruined by incorrect instruction, so I am very careful about changing my concepts. I am truly interested to hear your response. Here is a still of your video that I am referring to. ruclips.net/video/oymMrEZ7fkk/видео.html

This is why most hockey players hit the golf ball so far. Now this makes total sense to me now. I was working in a pro shop in Boston where some of them played at the course I worked, I was watching them play a tough long par 3 measuring around 165 yards and one of them hit there 9 iron 10 yards over the green. • @ronpurvis9037

Mike, I have discovered that if I start with a flat left wrist on the backswing, the flip ( the Malaska move) happens all by itself. No consciously flipping of the wrist is needed. If I start my backswing with a cupped left wrist, then I have to consciously do something to make the flip move. Is the flat left wrist the thing to do?

Hey Mike! I stumbled across your videos searching through RUclips for some help with my game. I was a fairly good junior player but didn't play at all in college (engineering school!). I'm 25 now and finding myself playing golf consistently once again. I always played from "underneath" and hit a powerful draw (sometimes a big block!!!). The idea presented in this, and other, videos has completely changed the way I swing the golf club, for the better! Coming from a physics/enginnering background now, these concepts make so much more sense to me than what I had always been trying to accomplish ("shallowness") in my golf swing. I'm playing my best gof ever. Thank you!!!!!! :D

mike love your videos my name is orson i am an ex football player with a lot of issues with my body especially my shoulders, my body is unable do the moves most teachers, teach. so i am trying to learn your concept of the arms and hand. Ive searched a lot of your videos but dont see any on the back swing is their a reason for that. Thanks and keep up the great work. You give me hope that i can get back to being a single digit handicap again.

Just amazing. I have struggled with proper release and understanding it for many years. I have played for 20+ years and was down to a 3.5 handicap in my prime (and no kids). I did more of this style of release years ago but battled the left side so kept changing and getting worse. I have for the last 5 years or more struggled with the improper release he shows at 3:45 (tennis racquet illustration)
I have hit it thin, fat, left, right, hooks and and tons of blocks between some good shots of course but never any consistently good shots or pattern. And bad ones were all over the place so hard to figure out the reason. Then I saw a guy mention Mark and a simple explanation of the released in a golf blog comment section. I googled and found this and my jaw dropped a bit when he says "hands in club head out" It just made perfect sense to me. A moment of clarity. I went to the range 3 times last week and played yesterday and today. I shot one over for nine holes and hit my Irons as well as I ever have. Solid with 5 yard draw. I missed two birdie putts within five feet (ugh that's another story) and was inside 10-15 feet on nearly all iron shots. It felt so good to know where the ball would go. I am energized to know I can start to play better again and pick a target with confidence.
Thank you Mike! btw I have watched so many of you're videos now and you are a great teacher.

Hey Mike, I can't tell you how much this has helped me! I'm a senior golfer that has played as a low single digit player for years. I began tinkering with my swing to try getting more distance a couple of years ago and broke my swing. I've tried everything under the sun to find "something" to fix my swing that I broke. I had that absolute best range session yesterday in months! This concept is so simple and so powerful! Thank you once again. Still a work in progress but at peace with my mind. :-)

Great instruction by Mike. I've integrated the "steering wheel" drill in my swing and it's helped me a lot, reducing weak impact and slices. Dan hit it flush in the end! Way to go, Dan!

I have watches so so many different Golf videos to improve my game over than 5 years, so far there is no one working for me.
I started watching Malaska Golf only few days ago, it teaches me only focus on my hands which was never told before by the others.
I wish it could help me hit the ball consistently, because I am hitting the driver for all over the place.

Mike is a great teacher. He’s method remains simple while other teachers are trying to reinvent the wheel with methods that are difficult for average students to grasp. The steering wheel and hockey stick are awesome props in explaining the transition of the golf swing.

This video is great. I pull down the handle towards the ball. I am no longer consistent with my irons and have troubles with the shanks. How does the handle go in and the club head go out, by the right hand steering and getting on top of the left hand? Is there a drill to do with the club, not a tennis racket?

Mike, this 3 video look at training someone was very effective. The illustrations you edited in were very good. I've learned a lot from seeing it and have made notes about what to practice.

Interesting. Totally the opposite of what Bradley Hughes is teaching now -- in which he teaches the hands "go out" or "out is down".
