I dare say Baldcafe is demonstrating one of the healthiest approaches toward balding. The other day a female friend of mine was sharing her story of being worried about her hair falling out. So I shared her my story and I described her why I shaved my head and also told her about Baldcafe. She cut her hair short and she is really satisfied with it. She is beautiful and brave. It is really interesting to see that people are stepping forward and share their stories and worries regarding their experience with hair loss. It is a good punch in the face of bad media which pushes human beings toward the ideas of being perfect, and other modern stereotypical ideas.
Harry I want to thank you for “normalizing” baldness. I’m 24 and started showing signs of thinning since I was about 20. It has given me such anxiety over the years and has been all I could think about. I stumbled across your channel and needless to say your videos have made me change the way I think and feel about my hair. So I shaved my head. Took a deep breath, and went for it. I only wish I had done it sooner. Thank you again.
When I listen to a podcast usually I will be doing something else besides it. But this conversation felt so familiar and recognisable I wanted to pay full attention.
Hey man, just stumbled across your channel. Great content and much needed. I'm 46 now and started receding about 28. I pretty much shaved it off within a few months. It's such an introspective experience to go through as a man at any point I would think. I spent a good 2 years analysing why I was feeling the way I was feeling. It all stemmed from my own expectations of myself and comparing myself to other people. It was genuinely a horrible time of self-loathing, self doubt and trying so hard to accept it. However it was a wholly cathartic experience. I wish this channel had been about then. Anyway, great channel. Keep up the great work. You will without a doubt be helping so many men who are feeling at odds with themselves through hair loss.
the only reason why being bald is perceived as a problem is because wo men consider you to be an "old man" if you are bald which obviously negatively affects your looks. me as a guy with a full head of hair doesn't perceive a bald man any different to how I would treat a man who has a full head of hair..............
There he is, my nephew Tom-carrying on the family tradition of baldness. I just wish that it could have been me that "took one for the team" and was the only baldy in our genetic nest. Much Love.
I'm 36 and even tho these days I have full head of hair due to two hair transplants. I started receding at 18 and have full appreciation for everything that was discussed in this interview. I have so so so much respect for you guys. You are braver than me, I couldn't bring myself to take the plunge with the razor. Ironically when the doctor shaved my head pre op, I absolutely loved it! 😂. All the best lads. You are mental health warriors.
I have pretty mild hair loss but it is unmistakably there. I first noticed at 18 and I’m almost 20 now. I’m still in the ‘self-aware but no one has called me out on it yet stage’. It’s still hard to imagine I will be bald probably by 23.
I love u guys so much. I can relate so damn much to every experience Tom is describing. Its so similar to mine. If its wasn't for you guys, I would never ever have a courage to accept myself the way I am❤️. Thanks Harry and Tom aka our Fav Bald Bastard.
Two legends! Great video! I always see them to the end, regardless of their duration, because in every minute, in every sentence, you can bring out something interesting and inspiring. Keep going guys!
Woah I was surprised to hear that about the hiring attractive women at hair clinics and having them break down your self-confidence so you feel compelled to fix your hair. My experience was totally opposite. I went to Hair Club when I was younger and one of my stylists I’m pretty sure had a little crush on me, I thought she was pretty cute too. She was always chatting me up and we talked about similar interests and she’d always laugh at my jokes and whatnot. I was thinking to myself the whole time like “How the hell do you not care about this? (My hair)” I regret never asking for her number. Moral of the story, fellas: the right woman won’t care.
Only criticism is that the head sets hides the outstanding shaved heads! The guest should have taken it of at one time, to let the viewers appreciate the fine bare head. No need to hide bald beauty!
Just so you guys know ..finasteride doesn’t affect every guy the same. I’ve been on it for years and never had any side effects. As soon as you feel any they go away soon as you get off so it’s not as big of a risk as you think
Great link up lads! Really took me back to how I used to feel in my late teens/early 20s - if only someone back then (besides my dad) could have told me being bald was an option ... also Vice Documentary?! Yes please
@@Baldcafe Crazy what desperation will do to somebody huh? I’m on treatment but I appreciate what you do, men need to know that no matter what path they choose things will be okay
Man this story is so common, yet unspoken about. I'm 29 now, started balding age 16. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it in the mirror. I'm 29 now and I still have a good head of hair due to dermarolling.
Balding as a teenager is truly a death sentence. It hurts even more when you see guys in their 50s and 60s having a NW 0 or 1. It's such a slap in the face. I know one guy who's 52 and he's NW 0. Many say that older men would look unnatural or w/e, but it actually makes you look a lot younger, so it's just a cope baldies use to feel better. I started balding in me teens, and I can wholeheartedly agree with the statement I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The most dehumanizing experience of my life. Literally, a teacher pointed out I was thinning on top then friends, relatives. Worst time of my freaking life. It completely ruined time that should be the best time in my life. I would rather not be born again than go through all of this again. Hair is life. Never forget about that. Shaving your hewd is just a cope imo.
Just shaving it, try’s to pose as if you don’t give a shit, as if your confident and just don’t care. The reality is quite opposite. Men that notice they are starting to bald, and lose hair that result to immediately shaving it, or buzzing actually care a lot more and are less confident than those that try to fight it in my opinion. I know this because I’m that guy. I’m 27 been shaving my head for 7 years, now here I am trying minoxidil for the first time and considering finasteride. Shaving isn’t necessarily a resolution for everyone unfortunately!!!
Glad you followed up with that second but because as I was about to mention this comment is certainly about you and your experience with it. I too grew mine out after about 3 years of shaving to really get comfortable with the balding reality 👍
@THERE WAS NO CHECK!!! nah dude people have had dramatic before and afters, yes you still lose hair from DHT but that varies between folks. I’ve been balding since 16 and still have way more hair than Harry. He started in his mid 20s
