It always brings tears in my eyes when i see Welcome Hotel. People from every class Rich, Middle class, Poor every one would come have food in welcome. Its more over like cricket stadium nobody would see any difference their all would just come for great food at very very very!!! Affordable price. they literally increased prices very recently due to inflation. Welcome hotel is just a temple to me it served prasadham. People would run to grab seat in welcome hotel!! Their awesome dishes are Sambhar Idli, Sambhar Vada, Chola poori, Parotta kuruma, Basanthi, Gulab jamun etc. All they dishes they provide are awesome One. Plz do visit guys!! It is our Tamil Nadu Pride.
I lived in Purasawalkam, studied in Doveton and Welcome hotel is my all time favorite. I am settled in USA for the past 25 years but the taste still lingers 😊. wish I could visit this restaurant again. This also reminds me of my dad who is no more. This was his favorite and any time we went out as a family he took us here . Thx for doing this video. Nostalgic ❤.
Shopping from 60's to 90's, Purasawalkam was the only choice for Madras public and other districts, Like Garden Madharsha, Tank Madharsha for Textile, Lala shop Lassi adjacent to Vinayagar temple, Gangadhareswarar temple, Ramas cafe, Doveton Cafe, Classic non veg hotel, Paradise non veg hotel and Welcome hotel, This Hotel is still making the pace of championship by their dedication, Shopping/Purasawalkam trip is incomplete without Welcome hotel food. Nostalgic.
Also from 1944 thete is one more shop famous for Pure Butter & Ghee, Curd, which arrives by 4'0' clock train from Andhra is it
Shri B.VENKATESWARA RAO & SONS. in olden days all leading famous hotels like wood lands,
Ratna cafe, Geeta Bhavan will buy from this shop only.
Shortly they call BV Rao butter shop.

I am an 80's kid and was living in Sundaram Pillai Street few minutes from Welcome hotel. Nostalgic moment when I watched this video. Back in 80s and 90s would visit Welcome on a daily basis and have tried all the items in their menu

That sweetness in sambar not only jaggery because of the pumpkin smashed in sambar.This area is full of North Indian people too. Parotta kurma ultimate taste.

Start with 10 spoons sambar drinking. Next eat sambar 1 and half idly and last smash remaining idly in extra sambar and eat with chutney, you can see heaven closely.

Breakfast and Dinner was ordered for my Grahapravesham during 2003 and friends and relatives still recollect the taste even now when they come to my house.Vadai and mini dosa they prepared சுட சுட by bringing Tawa.
Weekly once 2 Idly Sambar plus a coffee is still regular now.
We grew with Welcome hotel. Unforgettable days.. Sema service.. Suoer taste...
In purasawalkam more or less 60"s WELCOME HOTEL it's very famous hotel for idly, vada, dosa, pongal famous. Well maintained one.

This hotel's best menus are as you said are Idly sambaar, Pongal chetni, methu vadai and the Masala thosai. My relative's house is there. Whether I visit there without fail, I used to eat at the Welcome Hotel. I have known about this hotel since day one. Still no compromise on taste..

ஆறு மாதம் முன் சென்னை சென்றபோது இங்கு போய் சாம்பார் இட்லி சாப்பிட்டேன். என் மேசையில் எதிரே ஒரு அம்மா உட்கார்ந்து இருமிக்கொண்டே சாப்பிட்டார்கள். வந்த மறுநாளே எனக்கு ஜுரம் வந்து விட்டது. கரோனா டெஸ்டில் பாஸிடிவ் ஆகிவிட்டு ஒரு வாரம் quarantine பண்ணி தப்பித்தேன்.
அந்த அம்மாவும் சாப்பிட்டு தானே ஆகணும். நீங்கள் பொறுத்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள்.

This is Karnataka Udupi style sambar only. but it's better in chennai..

Chennai. Nice you visited this place. Another well known Ratna Cafe is now outrageously priced at almost Rs.100 for 2 idlies and has also doesn't use small onion any more. So most old timers don't go there.

This sambhar is prepared according to taste buds of North Indians who live in the area they only actually drink sambhar like this we will only use it as accompaniment.
In Trpilicane high rad Rathna cafe Sambar idli ghee is famous from 1970s .

In my experience 1st is Ratna cafe, Triplicane. 2nd indian cofee house T nagar, 3rd eswari lunch home, next to this hotel, now closed. 4th is welcome.

U will never be disappointed.And also Pav-Bhaji is the main signature for Novelty tea house.
