I used to visit dowton Cafe for the famous vadaikari 😊 I thought they have closed. Glad to know they are still running successfully. During 80s i took meals for Rs.3.00 and later raised to 6.00. Even during 2022, it is only 85 rupees. Really amazing taste. Sambar morkozhambu vera level.

ஒரு சைவ உணவகதில் சிறியவர்கள் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை மனநிறைவுடன் உண்டு மகிழும் உணவகம் மென் மேலும் இவர்களின் பயணம் தொடர வாழ்த்துக்கள்.
ராக்ஸி த்யேட்டரில் " உத்தரவின்றி உள்ளே வா" திரைப்படம், "டவ்ட்டன் கஃபேவில்" உணவு, "ஒய்ட் பீல்ட்" ஐஸ்கிரீம் ( 1960-72 களில் ராக்ஸி பக்கத்தில் இருந்தது ) இவை எல்லாம் வாழ்க்கையில் மறக்க முடியாது.
நான் இங்கு பல தடவை உணவு அருந்தி இருக்கிறேன் இந்த காணொளியில் சொல்லுகின்ற எந்த ஒரு விஷயமும்

Hi Prabhu, Thanks for covering Doveton Cafe. I am more connected to this restaurant as I had my wedding reception here in the mini hall. We were fortunate when we lived in Purasaiwakkam and used to get vatha kuzhambu and sambar for lunch almost every Sunday. Now, we are around 20 kms away from that hotel and still make it a point to visit it once in a while. I am a great fan of their meals. The important point you missed to cover is the number of autos you see there in the afternoon as this is thronged by many auto drivers for lunch. Since you have covered Doveton request you to cover Guest Hotel in Poonamalee high road near Ega theatre. Not sure if you have covered welcome hotel too. Another one is Krishna Bhavan in New Avadi Road. All these places are famous for Lunch.

I studied 10th standard in st.Paul's school 1980-1981. I used have Friday lunch some days when my mother could not give lunch. Tremendous place. Wish them good for providing best all these year's

Fantabulous place for eateries. I took tiffin during 90s and now I feel i shldnt miss meals hereafter in this traditional place! There is one Welcome hotel opp tank in Purasai don't forget to record it. It's also traditional, tasty place for decades! ✌️😌😝
I've been a few times, as a cook I will say, their food is nice and tasty. Worth the price.

85-87 I was in purasai a lot. My best friend and JEE study mate lived there. I somehow have never heard of this place. But my next visit I am definitely going there. May be even fins my friend's old house. Yea, but he lives in Germany now.

Hi Prabhu. I studied in Doveton Corrie school. I have seen this hotel come up from when I was a child. Our bus stop was next to this next to R R Pharmacy. Thank you for this nostalgia. I have till now not eaten the lunch here but only tiffin.

Namasthe. First of all I wish them all the best. I impressed after seeing this coverage. They were maintaining the same taste I think. In the evening the give medhu pakoda/ bonda/ Vada with chutney and Sambhar. It remaining my 1972 period. Regular visitor alongwith with my family and enjoy the food.
Lovely and thanks for covering. At that time in Perambur Railway station Pantulu hotel was their. That is present Perambur Srinivasa hotel. That taste was also same like Doveton cafe.

ஜனதா மீல்ஸ் என்பது 1977 to 1979 காலகட்டத்தில் மொரார்ஜி தேசாய் பிரதமராக இருந்த காலத்தில் சட்டமாகவே 1 ருபாய்க்கு தர வேண்டும் என்று கொண்டு வரப்பட்டது. அப்போது நான் எட்டாம் வகுப்பு படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். சில ஹோட்டல்கள் ஒரு ரூபாய்க்கெல்லாம் தர முடியாது என்று 1.25 என்று போட்டனர். நிறைய பேர் கடையை இழுத்து மூடி விட்டு சென்று விட்டனர்.
நான் 83 லிருந்து 86 வரைக்கும் செங்கல்வராயன் நாயக்கர் பாலிடெக்னிக் கல்லூரியில் படிக்கும் போது தினசரி டவுட்டன் கேப் செல்வோம் இட்லி சாம்பார் பூரிகேசரி மிகவும் பிரபலம் ஆனால் அப்போது உள்ள சுவை இப்போது இல்லை

I was a very regular customer of this famous hotel in 1980s that point of time i was studying in st Paul's higher secondary school and my uncle was running a photo studio very opposite to the devton cafe
The most favourite food those days i used to have was special dosa the sambar and chutney will be very delicious
