- Taking a look at some mysterious text options found in the menu file for Code Veronica X on Nintendo Gamecube. And stick around for some more cut content from Code Veronica. See if you can find my subtle Dreamcast stand joke.
I could only make this video thanks to Ink Ribbon's dolphin emulator tutorial, so be sure to check that out if you haven't.

Hi, I was messing around with the main menu. I can access to difficulty settings(normal, easy, very easy). If you select very easy, you will have infinite ink ribbon in your inventory. About "STEVE EXTREAM", that is other sub-menu, this has two options: STEVE and EXTREAM but both take you to regular BATTLE GAME mode, that sucks... Lol
Woah, that's so interesting! Thank you for testing that and sharing!!
@@raccooncitycinema Yes and I found some kind of debug camera. I will try to make a video about those things. 😉
@@rodolfonunez666 cool, just subscribed so I'll check it out when you do 👍
@@raccooncitycinema Thanks!, You have a new subscriber too 😃
i like to imagine that Steve rides a skateboard while drinking mt dew through claires campaign in the STEVE EXTREAM mode.
That definitely sounds like something he would do to. XD
Steve Extream sounds like a handle Steve would use on the internet. complete with misspelling.
This is an amazing find! Great job!
Wow! And thanks to you for your amazing tutorial video! Couldn't have found it without you
@@raccooncitycinema I'm actually working on 25 facts about Steve. Is it ok if I mention this one? I will leave the link to this in the description
omg yes please do!!
Oh, is it ok to link to your vid (which I already did)?
@@raccooncitycinema haha yeah of course! We all have the same goal of finding all these little nuggets of info for the community. And thank you for that btw. Keep up the good work!
@@InkRibbon This makes me unbelievably happy, thank you Kai! Can't wait to see your Steve video!
The weird handgun that was scrapped for CV is an AMC .44 Automag. I think one eventually made it into RE7. Dirty Harry famously used one in Dirty Harry: Sudden Impact, which came out in 1983.
I can't think of any super powers Steve would have in Steve Extream, unless being aggressively Canadian counts as a super power. Maybe we'll get a CV Steve Extream mod on PC which replaces F aid spays with Tims cups and herbs with different types of fine syrups.
Oh good eye! Didn't recognize that was in RE7! 😅 Thanks for pointing that out! Wonder if the devs were inspired by Dirty Harry?
hahaha! I'd buy that for a toonie!
AMT actually for Arcadia machine and tool, they also made the hardballer 7 inch longslide 1911 from terminator and hitman
Actually, the S.T.A.K.E. was in Resident Evil 8, not 7.
Actually, a Steve perspective mode would fill a lot of gaps in the story.
For example, when Steve and claire got into that gas leak incident, and they split up, it seems that Claire did everything, and steve just went into that room with the couch and started crying until the script said he should barge in and shoot Alfred.
It would have made him look... more competent.
Just goes to show, this game had so much character story telling potential, and they blew it.
I also wanted to know, how did someone pin steve to a wall with an axe? Claire never speaks to Alexia but Steve definitely did coz he tells Claire what Alexia's plans are for him,... so... how sis Alexia pin steve to the wall with an axe?
doesn't Alexia have at the very least wesker super strength alongside her fire powers?
@@GribbleGob WOW! I can't believe I made that comment about Steve's competence.
Buddy, I did a LOT of analysis into this game. Who EVER tells you that Darkside Chronicles FIXED Steve have NO IDEA AT ALL, what they are talking about! Darkside Chronicles ONLY improved his voice actor, and that too very little. The rest of it, DSC made Steve MUCH WORSE than CVX. Here's just ONE of many examples I have to proove it.
In DSC, Steve saved Claire's life 2, maybe 3 times. In CVX, Steve saved Claire's life SIX times, AND... found where Chris was for claire without even trying, in 5 minutes, something Claire couldn't do in 3 months. Capcom were SO GARBAGE with its presentation that even Alyson Court apparently didn't understand the point of Steve.
As for Alexia... I think she has those powers only when she is in mutant beast mode. Then again, we didn't see her do anything physical in evening gown wearing human mode.
I have done A LOT of analysis on the ORIGINAL Claire Redfield, and her story that EVERYONE missed. I insist you watch it on my channel to see what I uncovered.
You mean when Steve cased the Gas to leak by being absolutely stunning by Claire's ass?, yeah that's a very interesting story to fill
Editing is on point! Another great and informative video! Love this stuff!
Thank you! Learning as I go so it's very appreciated! And glad you liked it!
what could have made Steve Extream difficulty, is the rare or impossible to find bullets for Gold Ludgers and limited ammo for Dual Submachinegun
Thought it was gonna be steve singing "More than Words"
lol dammit, now I gotta reupload this video and steal that joke!
@@raccooncitycinema then my work is done 🤗
It woulda been hilarious if the intro had titles of Extreme songs worked in. Hilarious for like 3 people, but still!
My speculation on the remote is that it was most likely for Alfred's tank in the Military Training Facility. After Steve and Claire leave the island there's a cutscene with Alfred using the remote to open a rear hatch on the tank with a button underneath. You later press the button on the tank as Chris which causes the tank to move forward revealing a hidden elevator. I'm guessing it was going to be Chris item but it was scrapped. But that's just my guess.
That sounds very likely! Could definitely see that being the case.
Steve Extream earned my sub. I was dying. 😂
Ya-hew! Welcome aboard!! 😁 That was so much fun to edit, felt like making an 80s movie trailer haha
And there were so so many good Steve clips to choose from. Thank you so much!
This is an interesting discovery! I hope someone on The Cutting Room Floor can document this!
Thank you! And yeah, I couldn't find anyone talking about this so hopefully in the future we can get some answers
Maybe Steve Extreme changes every character in the game into Steve except for the villians. 😂
Yo this editing was actually really fuckin funny actually lol 💀
Thank you! Hope it captured the essence of STEVE EXTREAM
The only thing that could have made the Steve Extream intro better is if it included that LegendaryFrog clip "STEVE TO THE RESCUE!"
I haven't seen that but I'll search later tonight, thanks!
I regret not showing that clip of Steve saying "m'lady" to Claire. That's Extream...something!
haha I just watched it, that was some grade A Steve!
@@raccooncitycinema I sometimes forget that not everyone in the RE community wasted time watching silly flash cartoons. However, I'm glad you decided to check out that cartoon, it is certainly a classic.
@@DecadesApartProductions Lol! I did watch silly cartoons, just not that one
@@DecadesApartProductions u have link bro i want to wacth it
You should talk about how the pre-rendered images in the classic RE games were done. Are the 3d assets of those images still around? Can they be replicated? How exactly were they done and formatted into their respective console's formats? Just a video idea :)
That would be incredibly intetesting! Sounds like a huge video, but surely Ink Ribbon or MVG would be willing to do a collab 😅
@@raccooncitycinema Yeah man! It's such an obscure thing that nobody ever talks about 🤣.
Those 3D assets prior to RE5 are complete lost. I am not 100% sure about RE4 tho.
As for replication, they can be replicated. Those were normal objects after all.
As for compression, they were diferent for each console. MVG did an amazing vid about a “impossible port” of RE2 for N64, you should ckeck it out.
@@jefm32 Can you direct me to a video showing someone setting up the objects in 3D and exporting as pre-rendered backgrounds?
5:58 - that appears to be a Ruger

The 44 auto mag, the same gun Dirty Harry used
I remember this in a magazine, and never heard of it ever again.
Hmm, interesting. I'll have to take a look at the texture some time. Thanks for letting me know!
A bit late, but that cut handgun when you get talking about the cut content other than STEVE EXTREAM!!!! looks like a 44 Auto Mag to me. Dunno if anyone has already mentioned it.
The cut magnum looks like the same one that was in RE7.
Yes you're right! Someone at Capcom must've really liked it
@@raccooncitycinema I mean, it is the .44 Auto Mag, it’s iconic (also very fun to shoot). Although it makes no sense for it to be in Code Veronica since it uses very special ammo that I highly doubt you’d be able to find in Antarctica. At least in RE7 you can rationalize that it was Jack’s and so he’d have a bunch of ammo for it. The .50AE the Desert Eagle uses would still be rare but it wouldn’t be unreasonable to find some of it.
@@assassinonprozac that's a a good point about the ammo, thanks for pointing that out!
Everytime i hear EXTREME I think of Harold And Kumar in the convenience store "DUDE THAT WAS SO NOT EXTREME!"
haha that'd be a perfect line for Steve too
I imagine Steve had plans for a unique campaign, and the idea stuck around long enough for it to appear in the menu. Probably got scrapped because CV is already the longest game in the series
As for the remote, perhaps another puzzle based on Alfred and Alexia’s video?
Oh yeah, good point! Never crossed my mind about the game's length.
My first thought was the video too, but the "open/close" threw me off. I think it also says "on/off". I don't remember if before the video plays does it lower a screen?
@@raccooncitycinema I was just assuming the remote was tied a puzzle that was just completely cut. I can’t see anywhere it’d go, though it might be something as mundane as opening some shutters and they replaced it with a keycard.
@@kuropiko Yeah that seems like the most likely. I wonder if you could've used it to open those shutters that close after Claire runs down the stairs...
@@raccooncitycinema Perhaps it was what Alfred used to close the shutters (though he did have a big control panel anyways)? Maybe Chris would have to get into the room that had the first bandersnatch through the original entrance (in the main game I believe he just had to fix the elevator platform).
@@kuropiko Ah, very true! haha there's so many places it could be used!
Fantastic video, not much else to say except that on your video I was advertised "ADBLOCK". Not only is that quite ironic, but I guess that just shows that they don't screen their ad's because you'd think there would be no way they'd let that pass. Also, using ADBLOCK when watching smaller channels is just BS and anyone who does it should be ashamed. Anyway, rant over.
hahaha whaaat? That's unbelievable! And thank you for that!
The ad revenue is so low... I want to buy more books to translate for everyone, but have yet to get anything from YT. So people like you are awesome for giving your time and support
@@raccooncitycinema Open a patreon! The sooner the better. Even if only 5 people sign up for it, thats still something.
@@danielhumphries2026 I have been thinking about it! My concern is a translation vid can take 2 maybe 3 months. I'd hate for people to feel like they're not getting anything.
Also baby #2 is on the way soon.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll seriously consider it!
5:42 That looks like the Automag .44 AMP Model 180. It's a really cool gun that Dirty Harry used in Sudden Impact. They probably cut it because it's a piece of shit that jams all the time.
Yes you're right, someone else pointed it out too, and I guess someone at Capcom liked it enough because they put it in RE7!
@@raccooncitycinema Oof. That's the problem with not having access to guns in Japan. They probably just saw it in the movie and thought it was cool. Imagine trying to shoot a monster and you have to clear the chamber every 2 shots. U ded
@@philthestampede haha sounds about right
Trinston was here .
Team Steve!!!!!!!!!!
As for EXTREAM STEVE. Have you ever come across a youtuber called Kitboga? In his vids, there is a character called Steve watson LOL If you know what I'm talking about, you know who is the real EXTREAM STEVE. And if you don't look up the shorter version of the video "The angriest scammer I've called." on his channel.
Lol I've actually seen that one, and yeah you're right, that was one intense Steve!
Hello my friend, haven't seen a video from you in a while. Hope everything is alright.
Anyways, I had a favor to ask. Just needed a 2nd opinion.
I feel that my original Code Veronica and Claire redfield analysis jumped all over the place and was very poorly structured. Also, after that video, I went through more of the Alyson Court canonical Claire Redfield cutscenes, and I noticed I missed a few things, which actually makes the OG Claire's story arc EVEN MORE trgic.
I was planning on making one LAST video about this, focussing on Claire's character story arc, and this time, it is going to be MUCH more structured. Just wanted your opinion on whether you think that's a good idea.
Stay safe, and keep creating awesome content!
Hey man, it's all good thanks! Funny you should say that, because my next video should be finished in a day or so actually.
Yeah a more focused approach to her journey from beginning to end sounds pretty good. And add in your new finds along the way.
Although I don't know how good my advice is, so many other RE RUclipsrs have rocketed past me already haha.
But if you feel you can tell a more definitive version of The Tragic Story of Claire Redfield, I'd watch that
@@raccooncitycinemaThanks a lot for the advise man, really appreciate it. As for the basic synopsis of the OG Claire Redfield, the one constant is that she never fully got over what happened in Code Veronica. So it's nothing that new, but it's much more structured compared to the last video, where I bounced all over the place.
And, I noticed that Claire is the ONLY OG Resident evil main protagonist with this much depth.
I'll upload it right after my final Batman review video where I review some of the animated movies.
Looking forward to your next vid!
@@TheBengalDragon you're absolutely right on both of those points! About not getting over it and her depth. That sounds like it'll be interesting video man! Looking forward to it. Will you talk about Revelations 2 Claire?
And thanks! My next video will either be really interesting or tedious haha. Not sure how people will like it.
@@raccooncitycinema As for revelations 2 claire, I'll only touch on the mention of Steve, coz it is REALLY SAD, to see that even after 13 years, Claire remembers what steve said about guns VERBADIM! Apart from that, I might mention a thing here and there, but Revelations 2 does not center around claire, it centers around the relationship between Barry and Moyra, and claire is a conduit to that story. Also, this was during the super Retcon period, so I don't think I'll bring up Revelations 2 that much. Also, we don't know which is the canonical ending of Revelations 2, coz I think at that point, Capcon gave up on the OG timeline and moved into the Remake universe, where Code Veronica or RE4, 5, 6 are yet to happen.
Anyways, Here's to a good next video from you my friend! :)
@@TheBengalDragon alright man that sounds awesome!
U bet the first person mode was used to make the code veronica arcade game. Thar used first person, and was amazing btw.
the gun you mention at 5:55 is just a S&W .22LR. Far from powerful. You can see this handgun used in a game called earthfall.
It does look similar, but another user commented it's the AMC Automag which was later used in RE7.
@@raccooncitycinema I suppose they are right. It's slightly off tho.
@@kasumisman it's possible they combined elements of each!
Steve would have the power to kiss zombies while they're asleep 😬
Haha that's such a Steve thing to do
Where is my Code Veronica Remake 😭😭 Anyway, interesting video, unfortunately Capcom is lazy
Don't worry Capcom is gonna package that with the Outbreak File 1&2 remaster.
haha yeah still waiting on that too my friend 😣
I'll have that and the orginal trilogy collection please.
Seriously, would gladly buy that. Here in Japan they don't really sell anything good at the Capcom store. I think their last RE thing was perfume...
@@ianparrent6012 I'm more likely to be struck by lightning or being hit by a car than seeing Outbreak or Code Veronica again xD
as much as I dislike Steve, it would be interesting to play from his perspective sorta like Adas Separate Ways on re4
So more debatable proof capcom is lazy
lol it would've been nice if they gave us a hard mode, or costumes for the campaign.
cutting a mode that only has a name isn't lazy, tons of games have name-only cut content. if you want to shit on Capcom, actually be good at it instead of being lazy.
Wesker Mode looks so cheap. Why not pull a Viewtiful Joe, where cutscenes are the same, but the voices are just gibberish and the subtitles tell a completely different story that fits the character you're playing as.
Would it be stupid and ridiculous? Sure! But so is Wesker in general.
Haha I love that idea!
Nobody ever missed Steve
"Let's finish this once and for all" declares Chris with triumphant determination as he pilots the jet away from the exploding base. The credits roll and fade to black. A single sentence appears:
"And nobody ever missed Steve"
Forget Steve mode. I want Hank mode.
haha we want Hank! We want Hank!
@@raccooncitycinema
Exactly! Give us the Hank mode!
