- The new DC cinematic universe also known as the DCU just got so much bigger overnight as things seem to be moving very quickly on the production of Superman: Legacy which is part of the course for James Gunn.
After seeing Mr. Terrific and Metamorpho castings, James Gunn is clearly setting up The Terrifics in the DCU. Which means a Plastic Man casting isn't far behind. Blue Beetle was part of that team too.

As a lifelong DC Comics fan, absolutely loving the small details Gunn has revealed along with the casting of characters. He's doing a great job getting me hyped so far!

@robbyrhodes4572 He's already said Superman & Lois are the main priorities. This Superman is in a world with already established heroes. This isn't an origin story. He's spelled it out rather well imo. Superman is my favorite and this is the most excited I've been in a long time for the character!

Mr Terrific, Plastic Man, Metamorpho etc are some of my faves.
I love the idea of the dcu having most superhero’s already established, and the teams already being established, like u could have like the opening scene of Superman: Legacy be the justice league taking down a villain, just the thought of that makes me so happy
At least James is using the Idea he set in the DCEU where we got dropped in the middle of the Superhero craze instead of the beginning.

I know a lot of people are mixed on Nathan Fillion's casting as Guy Gardener, but you need to remember that age is not important as long as they nail the character.
*Hiroyuki Sanada is 62 and playing Scorpion and Robert Downey Junior was 43 when first cast as Iron Man in 2008.*
My point is just because he's in his 50s doesn't mean it will affect the GL lore in the DCU or limit the number of stories they can tell. I'm sure John and Hal will be in an ideal age group & even if they are aged to be in their 40s, remember that it doesn't limit their stories
I love the casting for Metamorpho, Hawlkgirl and Mr Terrific as well.
These a Great Cast Choices,Metamorpho is a Underrated Character I will love to see in Live Action,I just Hope Hawkgirl and Mr.Terrific are Better portrayed than the Arrowverse Versions as those Suck and I’m curious how Guy Gardner will Be.

I loved him in Brave and the Bold and how he was egotistical but still was very serious when he needed to be like when he met Blue for the first time he was serious basically the whole time about how dangerous the Scarab was

I love having Nathan as a green lantern. I would have wanted him as hal, but he is a little to old so I get why he won't be cast, but I dont really understand why using him as guy who I feel should be around the same age, and probably a little younger. But I think he will be great anyways
I don't get why they think he would be too old to play Hal, during the 90's his hair was already going grey and if the DCU is at a point where Damian Wayne is Robin, I don't see why Nathan would be too old for Hal.

About David/Superman's age, I started to realize that since Batman's cast is miles away and we still don't know when The Brave and The Bold film released. By the time it releases either 2027 or maybe 2028 or if they decide to wait till after The Batman Trilogy end, the actor who is now early 30s or David's age would be in his mid-30s by then and David will be 35 years old in 2027 or 36 in 2028, that could mean that they would cast an actor who is same as David's Superman or one year older than him later to play Batman as the father of Damian so that would make sense. Maybe that's what James meant even though he stated Batman "might" be couple years older than Superman. TBATB film may end up delayed. I just wanted to point that out why he said miles miles away from Batman cast for now. I could be wrong though.
I know Gunn is trying not too make films that just set up stuff, so I don't think we'll be seeing hints at the terrifics for a bit but following the superman legacy formula I think we could see plastic man in batman brave and the bold
I believe that the upcoming superman film should focus on a few characters in order to properly develop them (like Kal-El, Lois Lane, Jimmy, Lana Lang, and Kara Zor-El) and tell a well rounded story about superman’s journey. It should not lose sight of the story being told, which I feel adding multiple characters that are unrelated to superman’s supporting cast could take attention away from the personal struggles related characters undergo. Of course, I haven’t seen the film.

Nah bro. There will never be a better Fantastic Four project than The Incredibles. I’m hoping they’re introducing all these heroes in the movie so by the end Superman is seen as the ideal hero and becomes the example all others look up to

My problem is that all these heroes are going to appear in a SUPERMAN movie. Why can't we at least wait a while before we get any of these characters? It just feels like BVS all over again.

James Gunn has stated that these characters will play an important factor in this movie establishing Supemans alliance with other superheroes. Besides James Gunn has also stated that Superman and Lois, Jimmy and Perry will be the protagonists of this movie first and foremost and doesn't intend to set up future projects in this movie but establish them for this story he is telling and has complete intention of keeping it a Superman movie first and foremost

Gunn come off a trilogy of films that had to set up a large cast of characters and situations. He has earned a degree of trust.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 and BvS were both examples of the studio highjacking a sequel and turning what should have been
the second act of a trilogy, into a shared universe building exercise.
They took grounded takes on Superman and Spider-Man and tried to fit every other property into them.
I want Hawkgirl who is an alien but also reincarnated. It connects her to the space part of DC, magic part, history of Earth etc

James Gunn did confirm that Peacemaker Season 1 and The Suicide Squad aren't canon to the DCU. So the cast of both those movies will be rebooted with the same actors, and I'm sure it will be explored in Season 2 and the Waller show.

I disagree about the Swift comment regarding her appearing in thr Authority.
Theyre somewhat of a parody to the JL similar to The Boys, so it makes sense that almost all of them are very similar to JL and JSA chararacters.
I get the common audience side of it, but Midnighter and Apolllo are also extremely similar to Batman and Superman. If u rhink Swift cant be used then those 2 cant be either

I dont see why they actually look for Fresh New Faces at all the various Cosplay Conventions with simular looks and a variety of different Costumes as well nowadays for these actual Film Projects they have planned as I Think this would actually give wider range of Character Actors Benefitually and some New Names as well.

With all theses hero’s being announced for the movie the one I am really hoping to see in this movie is Batman him and Superman friendship is one of the best in the comics and in the justice league show I really want a throw away line that Clark and Bruce are already friends I am sick of the writers always having them fight I want the worlds finest at work

I just hope they tone it down. Theres no need to try and catch up to the MCU. They need to chart their own course and build their own universe.
It feels like more of a story that way, a world of heroes that develops and grows. If you start with a world full of heroes to begin with than where is the story? Watching the MCU go from just Iron Man to the massive fight at the end of Endgame was the whole point.
And we all saw what happened when the DCEU tried this rushed approach. Look at Superman and Lois, they've kept everything smaller and allowed it to develop and it's worked out great for them. Hopefully this isn't Gunn repeating the mistakes of the past.
I trust james. But these are alot of characters for one movie. You also have to take in the fact that the authority is in this movie as well and will have 5 members at the minimum. All that being said, if anyone can do it its james but holy shit this movie must long asf Lol

That's just it. Nobody wants a redo of the MCU playbook. Marvel got it right, but rinse and repeat with DC characters is not the way to go.

Ahhh that sounds interesting! A lot of hype is growing with this film. And it’s smart to create this early hype. To show that DC theatricals aren’t going anywhere. And that we can look forward to a nicely planned out chapter.

I am SUPER keen to see what Gunn is doing and these new casting announcements have got me hyped af. Despite what the moronic neysayers claim, Gunn is a very skilled writer and director and the man knows what he's doing. As much as I love/miss Snyder and his version of the DCEU and its characters, I think people just kinda have to accept he's gone now (although I do wish we could have got to see JL 2 and 3). Initially I was slightly concerned about how casting Fillion as Gardner would make him and Hal Jordan too similar physically and vocally but I have a lot more reassurance now. My only hope is that these characters are just cameo or limited roles as I don't want them to take away the focus from superman in his own story, as cool as it is they're all in it.

if all these characters will be in SM: Legacy how long is that movie going to be? these are alot of characters that non-comic book fans know? how are you going to expand on these characters especially since Gunn doesnt want movies or shows expanding on it themselves?
There is supposed to be an Authority film that will flesh out those characters. Guy Gardner could show up in Lanterns. Mr.Terriffic,Hawkgirl, and
Metamorpho could show up again in Brave and The Bold.

Either recast completely or Keep everything you can. This is clearly not either of the two options, instead James Gunn keeping the things he cares about, Also Blue Bettle is subject to change depending his Box office numbers.
Blue Beetle is in the DCU. The only thing box office would effect is if it gets a solo film sequel or the character played by the movie actor just
shows up in a different DCU project such as Booster Gold.

Purely on looks, I don’t love the casting for Lois lane. Rachel Brosnahan is an actress I am not the most farmiliar with, but based off looks I don’t think she fits the part extremely well. She has some qualities of Lois lane, but she doesn’t give off that dorky, yet confident determination that Lois has. This is probably just me but purely off looks, I think I may have preferred somebody along the lines of Alexandria Daddario, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, or even Alison Carroll despite her being in her late 30’s.

@@theharbinger00 The Suicide Squad sure didn't made money because it was released in the middle of pandemic and released on streaming since Day1, but the movie gained large amount of positive reviews among fans and critics. The movie also spawned a successful spin-off TV series Peacemaker, which is definitely by far the best DCTV show ever. And you act like DC can't follow the same route as the X-Men franchise. Use your brain for once. 😂

@@cameronbrown940 James Gunn already stated that Superman Legacy will be how Clark Kent maintain his life balance with Lois Lane while doing his duty as superhero with other established characters in his early years, which is basically already confirmed it's going for the Year 2 or Year 3 setting. DC world is very big and there are already many lores behind the characters and their history.

His first thing done to Superman was making an origin movie first with poor casting of Lois Lane, as Amy Adams is 49 this year and both Henry's Clark Kent didn't have chemistry with Amy's Lois Lane. Then he skipped the whole early story arc about Superman and went straight for Superman to fight Doomsday in BvS. People have problems with Zack Snyder's DCEU for two very important things, his DCEU movies have bad scripts for bigger plots especially for BvS with the "Martha" scenes and other one his very questionable and poor casting for Lex Luthor and Joker. Zack Snyder tried to aim for the Injustice storyline for the very first DC cinematic universe and it epically failed big time because it was obvious that the general audiences weren't fond of this route of DC cinematic universe and they have been asking for reboot ever since. James Gunn done the right thing with the way how he introduced multiple characters for The Suicide Squad with very strong emotional connection and investment for the audiences to watch his movies, as well as Peacemaker TV series.
