If I were a constituent of his, I'd start a petition to recall him from office.
Bryant has a lot of explaining to do. He needs to be referred to the Commons Parliamentary standards Committee which ironically Bryant chaired until relatively recently. My suggestion is that he should resign his seat.
He has nothing to answer for, he said it under Parliamentary privilege, so he knew he couldn't be held accountable!

@@polaris7122 A member of the public can make a complaint and report an MP to the parliamentary standards committee but I take your point about whether anything will be done about the issue. Bryant is clearly protected from slander by parliamentary privilege.
I suspect someone on the Tory benches, in light of the NatWest public info releases, will be urging Bryant to make a full and contrite apology to Farage ie rather more than the half hearted retraction to an empty house.

As a former Nat West worker in the 80s I am ashamed to read all this. This bank went bust not so long ago. Why can they not stick to looking after customers. Seem to spend a lot of time pontificating.
Time parliamentary privilege and freedom of the press was made accountable, and need to have more proof before printing or making statements. It's all gone to far now and credibility has flown out the window.
I think it would be wise to sue them for the sake of all of us ....this is shocking .

The Financial Conduct Authority did an investigation about de-banking....but did not include the Coutts/NatWest scandal....

Can NatWest have been any more morally corrupt. Cannot believe we saved this bank with our taxpayer money. Should have let them go bust, and just reimbursed the savers that had money with them. None of these w/bankers deserve to have jobs. Very very angry about this.
I did an RBS subject request and it took them about 2 months. Make a request now. It costs THEM money and you might be able to sue the bastards.

He can't sue Chris Bryant (Labour) because he spoke all those lies in the House of Commons where they have "parliamentary privilege" and can get away with lying without the threat of being sued for slander unless of course, another MP challenges what they said. No MP ever challenged it at the time nor the lies made about Arron Banks. He can almost certainly sue NatWest for discrimination and likely will. NatWest Group will also likely be heavily fined for their data breaches relating to this.

Agreed. It requires a full investigation into the Nat West Group and not merely a door open to civil action, but criminal charges. Where clear malace is shown- such as their "Can we make him leave the country?" there is scope for criminal libel- with proven malice aforethought, and clear likelihood of the consequences.
