  • The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) has recognized Pressure Injuries as the fifth most costly commonly-occurring preventable condition.
Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury (HAPI) in Australia are estimated to cost $983 million per annum, representing approximately 1.9% of all public hospital expenditure. The acknowledgement of the impact of HAPI is such that they are outlined within our National Standards of Care, and health facilities across Australia are subject to significant financial penalties for the occurrence of high grade pressure injuries that occur within our facilities.
The recognition of the significant financial burden, in addition to the impact on the consumer and their families/Carers, make this a priority for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD).
Gain an insight into the impact of hospital acquired pressure injuries as our wonderful consumer Nicole shares her story of living with a pressure injury.
