It was a discount Scat Man because you essentially got half or a full heart of damage for a 15% chance of a black heart, which spawned lots of times, once for every 7 enemies killed. You could choose to take damage in a room full of enemies and get not just life but black hearts, which deal damage, or you could just get hit by something and probably get a black heart. And it was just a 1 heart container deal, I absolutely took it in every run. It was so good they nerfed it, completely eliminating the black hearts effect in Repentance, and now it's just a Maw of the Void when you take damage. NL will never experience the raw power of Athame.
@@OshawottLuke It was one of the best 1 heart deal items out there. NL just never experienced it, yep. Athame on something like Super Envy is just crazy good. Almost wins the run in that spot. Not to mention the one advantage it had over Maw was x3 times more likely to spawn black hearts. Not saying it was better than Maw, of course.
It's like the easiest A tier item ever, One room of flies and it spawns like 5 demon hearts. I think the egg's brain rot got to him on this one. But regardless, placing it in D is hilarious.

I think it's because when you decide to watch a movie you have to commit to pay close attention to it so that you get immersed in what is, most of the time, an unfamiliar world/setting. This is a lot easier to digest, more familiar and you even have the possibility to watch it on and off without losing enjoyment. That's how it is for me.

Athame is a won run item that suffers from only appearing when the run is won anyway and NL not knowing it drops WAY more demon hearts than maw of the void. Compost was also done a little dirty (haha) because it's way more consistently game winning than he thinks but it's also probably a little boring to stock batteries on a floor and then never worry again.
Eve’s Mascara is the must underrated item ever, its the only damage multiplier that doesn’t affect other multiplier items like sacred heart or magic mushroom, its just a permanent Crown of Light. Sure the first floors are painful but it’s worth it

Playback Speed 2x is making NL seem like he’s an insane man
Athame is a won run item that suffers from only appearing when the run is won anyway and NL not knowing it drops WAY more demon hearts than maw of the void. Compost was also done a little dirty (haha) because it's way more consistently game winning than he thinks but it's also probably a little boring to stock batteries on a floor and then never worry again.

Eve’s Mascara is the must underrated item ever, its the only damage multiplier that doesn’t affect other multiplier items like sacred heart or magic mushroom, its just a permanent Crown of Light. Sure the first floors are painful but it’s worth it
Man, the baby visiting at the end of this omega-length tier list about NL's most iconic game gave me some serious feels. It's been one heck of a decade man. I seriously appreciate the company.
