Tainted Judas is top tier. He just destroys Hush and Delirium because of their bullet barrage that you can just phase through and do a ton of damage. But that’s just the cherry on top, the active gives you infinite book of shadows effect so you can do a lot of things like: enter and exit curse rooms without taking damage, grab chests that are behind spikes, or any other consumable for that matter, you don’t have to wait for the spikes to go down and press the button to open the door on those puzzle rooms you can phase through straight to the button, obviously you can also dodge shots. I think Tainted Cain would make a good character for an Isaac race. He's extremely powerful, but you need to take time to become powerful and I think that the judgement of what level of strength will carry you through the run versus what level of strength you would want to spend a bit more time on would make for an interesting dynamic.
NL full just went Virgin Dark Arts vs. Chad Berserker “Ooo what if my invincibility runs out and I get hurt?” - Dark Arts “Haha keyboard go brrrr” - Berserker
I think he meant relative to the rest of the game. Whether or not you find that to be true personally, Cain's buffs don't automatically or necessarily make him better in Repentance than in AB+ relatively speaking.
Cain was my favorite pre repentance and he`s still as strong. I do think regular Isaac is the strongest of them all. Getting an angel item from every angel statue you find, how could anything beat this ?
I feel like once NL has another 300 or so hours with the tainted characters alot of the places will change. Tainted Eve is super easy to stack clots with, since every heart collected past what is needed to be at full health can be turned into *two clots*. Clots act as body sheilds, and if somehow you are at very low health you can just sump them back, and then pump them out again. The 'charge can take longer then the summon' aspect can be annoying... but only if you have one of the very few items that can charge longer then it takes to fire.
Loving the tier list names for this, especially with the switch from people for the highest and lowest tiers, to food preferences for the in-between tiers XD
I like how NL always says sorry to youtube when he has to leave for a bit. Like we can fast forward, twitch cannot. It's much more grueling to wait in chat then hit the right arrow key 5 times.
I recently just did a Eve run with a new strat that I found in the comments, and my opinion of Eve 100% flipped. God Tier character. I nearly beat Mega Satan with literally NO good items, no damage ups, nothing. The only item I had to my advantage was infestation, which synergized really well. All my damage came from getting hp ups. I would use razor blade for damage up for the floor, get red hearts piled up. After clearing out the floor, get every red heart, go to the boss, remove all my hearts, get 15 damage stat and completely erase the boss w my flies and damage. I did this all the way to Mega Satan. Only reason I didnt win was bad red heart and item drop rng for the Chest. I went in with 1 rotten heart, 2 spirit hearts. Nearly beat him. Eve is disgustingly good.
I always thought it would be funny to have clips of NL out of context as sub alerts or gifted alerts or something. I put forward "You pay a heavy cost to get ham sandwich functioning" as a recommendation

Eve has to be at one heart and you lose the dmg if you gain hp, samson gets more damage and you dont lose the damage until end of floor. You are not limited to the ammount of red hearts you can have too.
@@zacharia4061 yeah I definitely think Samson is overall better but I do think there’s a smaller gap between the two than NL gives credit for. The razor blade giving a damage up when used can be really useful to use a couple times on a boss to get down to 1 for a massive damage up. But overall Samson CAN be more powerful but it involves more min maxing with taking damage and getting health and all. And without the IV bag it’s hard to take damage intentionally while also preserving your deal chance
Tainted Eve is seriously undervalued here. After about 40 hours T-Lost grind, T-Eve was my next character to complete and so far it took me 4 Runs to get All the original marks and I got Perfection on the third floor almost everytime. T-Eve feels really strong so far. Only missing Beast, Mother and Greedier
The thing about Tainted Eve is, if you can get her past the first ~4 to 5 floors, it's basically unlosable from there. But she is absolutely one of the most inconsistent in the entire roster at getting to that point in the first place. It's hard to even make it out of the basement with her, and if you ever get swarmed by Globins or something before you have a sustainable means of regenerating clots, you're basically at a full restart.
@@stygianskies4776 You think so? I consistently got perfection with T-eve at the third floor and since most of her strength comes from the bloodclots, shes relatively independent from Items on the first floors if you can get some heart drops
@@TheScar3cro They're really not as good as you're making them out to be. Pulling all the clots you can manage at floor 1, even assuming some heart drops, basically just puts you on the same level as any other generic character, if not a little worse due to the extra difficulty aiming and the hugely low tears that your clots sync back up with every new room. If you get that fatty/lil monstro room or the cellar bomb spider room, it's either over right there or you're gonna spend like 6 entire minutes barely clawing your way out.
@@stygianskies4776 I'm just telling you my experience from playing this character. I completed every mark in a maximum of 10 tries, which felt very great after about 500 runs of tainted lost
Tainted Eve is one of the best characters in the game, a bit of health quickly snowballs into a minion army. She only struggles a bit against end bosses with a lot of health since the aoe can eat through your minions quickly. I would put her pub nachos at least depending on what boss you're going to fight. One thing I'll add that people might find interesting: if you find an item that allows you to switch characters like judas' shadow, you can convert all your health into minion than swap characters and you keep all the minions.
I know this is late but I keep seeing everyone how people think t Apollyons locusts are weak or only mild damage up. The locusts create from abyss deal your damage. Not only do they deal your damage but when they make contact with an enemy they can do up to 3 ticks of your damage per second. Essentially meaning the locusts can at max do 3 times your damage and at worse exactly your damage but most of the time is around 2 to 3 times your damage. Basically the locusts are cracked that scale significantly better from damage ups than you actually do and to top it off they are permanent unlock the lil clot buddies. Abyss being an s tier item and Apollyon being top tier is a mountain I’m willing to die on. With abyss literally any item you don’t want is a permanent massive dps upgrade. Yea abyss doesn’t have a lot of cool synergies which does suck but abyss and t Apollyon are just objectively really strong.
i actually liked Afterbirth+ keeper, the number of shop items that could help a ton was great, piggy bank, blanket etc. literally all you had to do was buy bombs and blow up some pots until you got swallowed penny and it's a won run
Dude some of these are insane. TAzazel is almost at the top but TEve is near the bottom somehow. Same for Lilith, no clue what’s going through his mind.
I might be wrong, but I think Tainted Apollyon is a lot stronger than you give him credit for; recently I picked up Mega Tears that caused my regular tiers deal around 20+ damage (when it was more like 4-5 damage previously), and the Red Locusts that swarmed around me was pretty much killing every single enemy with one fly. I had around 20ish flies when I battled Hush, and he was just melting (and this was a run where my character's tear firing was around 1.15 speed, so he wasn't firing the tears very fast) The fact that Tainted Apollyon is capable of not only gaining extra damage output with the locusts that is upgraded by your damage itself increasing means that the Red Locusts can synergize with your character in dealing a lot of extra damage towards bosses. With that same build, I almost killed Delirium in about 30 seconds (but I died due to lack of Hearts and bullet spam/teleporting). The fact that he is one of the only characters that are 100% capable of turning any item into damage can make any run with garbage item generation into something always playable. Just focus on picking up damage-uping items and turn the rest into locusts, and Tainted Apollyon can shred pretty much anything you want. I would put Tainted Apollyon around low Pub Nachos, whilst keeping Apollyon in High Light Cream Cheese. Apollyon (Regular Form) is a lot more dependent on Item Generation to actually be good, and is a character that is designed to turn bad passive items into descent/good character upgrades or can turn active items into a massive pool that can cause damage... but that is REALLY dependent on what items spawn in. Tainted Apollyon is generally always going to be stronger in most situations, and unlike Apollyon where Passive Items upgrade 1 or 2 random slots of the character that can be worthless, Tainted always adds damage... damage where the Locusts in question are going to be usually always stronger than your standard Tear Attacks. A Tainted Apollyon run that has the Locust swarms in the double digits is an Apollyon that is going to rip most problems apart, especially if you can get a few passives that increase damage (even if it's the likes of Pentagon and not Mega Tears).
the fact that you can buy active items on sale in the shop for just five cents and then turn them into flies is insane too, with void you just vaccum up the active item instead of getting stats which makes normal apollyon much worse than t. apollyon imo
I mean, he's arguably the best-designed and most enjoyable character in the game. However, having only 2 coin hearts means that you're as frail as the Lost if you can't harvest coins from your enemies. And a lot of late-game bosses and areas will take long enough to kill that you might get starved out. I typically find that the Chest/Dark Room rooms filled with bosses are hard to survive, because you have to chew through a lot of boss health in order to get your second wind. A lot of the time, it just doesn't come soon enough. So as much as I love T Keeps, I think that's a fair ranking. You could argue for low Pub Nachos, though.
Some people are iffy on the Eve placement, but as much as I like her I gotta agree she's weak. Eve is kinda frustrating because she used to be SO much better in Afterbirth/AB+ than she is in Repentance due to the meta shift to red hearts and angel rooms. In AB, with Eve all you had to do was stack blue hearts, sell all your red hearts, and you'd coast to an easy victory. In Repentance, devil rooms and items are worse and blue hearts are rarer, so you might just run out of resources and die by attrition, while if you go angel rooms it becomes super fiddly to keep Babylon up.
jacob and esau get a pass for being bad since they also are cool as hell as a concept. they probably need to introduce something to make the character less bad. maybe everytime 1 character picks up an item, the other gets a pill worth of stats? that way, each item would have an effect on both characters.
36:00 - I'ma be honest, once I 100% completed Tainted Cain, he was forever dead to me. As one of the first tainted characters unlocked, and I didn't unlock every single new item in Repentence yet, most of the times winging it lead to me getting Breakfest (Milk) all the time. I never cared for him, so I just went to the wiki and found the recipe to finish him... in one playthrough. Except for Super Greed, my Tainted Cain run was over 3.5 hours long. A single run. Now some it was due to getting about 3-5 Steam items and constantly screwing with the Stores all the time after getting infinite items. I pretty much had a playstyle where I got a basic set of items so that I could finish the Chest/Dark Chest/Hush/Boss Rush/Deri/Beast/Mega/Corpse Mom all at once: - Gnaw Leaf - Steam (3-5 times for practically free items) - Restock for infinite Store Items - BFF (To have DLL to more damage per stomp) - Daddy Long Legs multiple times (I think I had like 30ish or so when I finished) - Dad's Key to unlock Mega Satan - Schoolbag to hold two Active Items - Mama Mega! to Unlock ??? and Boss Rush in a SANE matter (since trying to play Tainted Cain legit and rushing to them is suicide/dumb) - R Key, to start the run all over again and keep all the items I just often left the computer after entering a boss room and just grabbed a drink and watched videos. After multiple attempts of trying to play Tainted Cain 'randomly', I had no desire to play him and just wanted to do anything else. I wanted to be done as fast as possible. Definitely my least favourite. After over 3 hours, almost 4 hours, I did all but Super Greed on a single run. Half of those hours were not finishing the stamps, but just dealing with the store over and over again to get any item that was descent. Sure, I COULD have went for more powerful moves and attempted to do it that way... but I honestly never had fun trying him anyways, even through different measures (which I did in Super Greed, I just got Super Mushrooms over and over and before fighting Gold Boy just made different random items after turning the Store into a convoluted mess of different items scattered everywhere, which is the only place where I had any 'fun' with the character). Tainted Cain feels more like a Greed Character than even Keeper/Tainted Keeper does, and as Binding is a game where a playthrough is usually around 20~40 minutes per run, Tainted Cain is just double that amount with how you constantly have to play with the Store and easy items just to get somewhere. The fact that he is the only character where I feel a Wiki is warranted is a character that I just don't care for. If I wanted to play a Store-Based character, I'll play Keeper or his Tainted Form; they are much better characters. If it wasn't for Mama Mega! existing, I probably wouldn't have even bothered trying to 100% the character.
I think Tainted Eve is the biggest miss for me. I did lose a lot with her at first, but after learning to utilize things like keeping all containers empty before picking up health ups, not going ALL in on damage, recalling from time to time just not to get splashed for 10 hearts with one bomb etc i just BLITZED through the postit, winning run after run. She surprisingly consistent, has a great floor (despite bad teara you can just shotgun with clots from the start for great damage) and ABSURD celling - clots are virtualy limitless and you are SO good with angel rooms that most of the time i find myself with full health and 20-30 clots, not even needing to go into my health for damage anymore. Yes, charged items are awkward and if you dont pay attention (or dont have muscle memory to recall from time to time just to keep safe). The ability to turn every single red heart into damage /that scales/ is just insane, you melt /everything/ and snowball so hard. Honestly, i find her top Pub Nachos/low Mountain at least
Also clots are familiars so they have some /sick/ item and trinket synergy. Also i like how TEve makes me think different about items, for example making me actively excited to see plain +1hp item insted of going 'meh'. E: recalling also does good damage, to the point in which you can just leave your clots on the other side of the room before spawning a boss in a greed mode and just wreck it by pressing Q a single time xd Abait i dont love TEve for greedier, Ultra Greed is possibly the hardest Boss for her due to all of the brim and explosions - Delirium at least gets a big room to dodge around
Let's be real, tainted blue baby is a straight upgrade from blue baby, if you do NOT rank him in pub nachos at least I am calling sinvicta. Tainted blue baby can beat hush with base stats with holy poop + creep. You are just bad at him NL. Self inflicted damage is easily avoidable with the right caution. Also creep and holy poop give multipliers, let's be fair, he has no right to be in light cream cheese.
On Tainted Cain, I personally agree with what alot of people say to do with him. Randomize the crafting recipies, so it throws more unpredictability at him. Sometimes you get godhead sacred heart, and sometimes you get tiny planet soy milk. I personally think that would make him much funner then making rock bottom + red stew + soy milk.
I wish tainted Isaac started with fewer item slots, maybe even as ridiculously low as 4, but have more ways to increase his item slots than just the 1/500+ chance of getting birthright. Idk how that would be implemented though.
i'm on my first 100 hours of the game and i enjoy regular Cain a lot of the handful of characters i've unlocked (i've barely done any challenges yet). the extra luck feels very noticeable to me, and makes me feel like i have a fighting chance even if the 2 hp means i might die early in a hard room. I take less devil deals and keep HP more often than with isaac. the eye patch makes me feel like kurt russell
Blue baby is the best for bosses imo. You can instakill them with no items. You drop a poop in the room you start in, clear a room, drop off another poop, repeat. Look for a cards against humanity in a big room, etc. Save it for right before the boss fight, and go get all those flies. Blue baby is amazing. Plus you get that item that gives you an extra fly on poops, and it starts to get overpowered really quick. The only thing is you need the teleport mod because going back and forth would be too to tedious otherwise. Bluebaby is just misunderstood. Dead bird is S tier. There are a lot of ways to take damage without actually taking damage. If you do take damage, then you just get to clear the entire room easily and you can just hide. If you see a huge ridiculous room, you can just take the half heart of damage instead of getting hit multiple times. Any regen item or heart producing active just means free bird. Devil deals suck so who cares about that anyway, and you can just force angel rooms so taking damage doesn't matter. It's basically an innate tainted lil haunt which is a top 5 item. I disagree with just about everything in the video.
I thought about this too. TLaz is basically fine now, and TJacob and TEden are FAR less bullshit than before. Normal Laz and Blue Bozzy got a little help too. Yes! I love Cain so much! It’s so common that I get high luck simply because of his starting item + pills. Starts with good speed, the one eye means he’s more accurate, high damage. I rate him.
Cain is the best “basic” character in the game imo
You get 1 luck up pill and u snowball soooo hard
@@firstlast-wg2on holy fucking shit i never realized he only fires from one eye as opposed to alternating b/w both cuz of the eye patch. That’s fantasize attention to detail
Chad Berserker
“Ooo what if my invincibility runs out and I get hurt?” - Dark Arts
“Haha keyboard go brrrr” - Berserker
based and ragepilled
As someone who mains Samson and is desperately trying to get the tainted bertion, i feel like i just got blessed
he's insane for putting cain in the ham sandwich tier
"Cain is worse in repentance" cain literally got buffed for repentance
so did the enemy AI
I think he meant relative to the rest of the game. Whether or not you find that to be true personally, Cain's buffs don't automatically or necessarily make him better in Repentance than in AB+ relatively speaking.
imo cain is the best base character because of his superior stats and no bad pills, but that could be debatable
Cain was my favorite pre repentance and he`s still as strong. I do think regular Isaac is the strongest of them all. Getting an angel item from every angel statue you find, how could anything beat this ?
Why do people forget about the paperclip. They made golden chests drop more stat items so caim got buffed basically
I'm tilted over Cain, he starts with good pills, free gold chests, and extra damage. He should be higher!!
and extra speed
He’s my favorite character yet he never gets the love he deserves.
I could listen to NL tier list analysis literally 24/7
could you though? i mean, literally?
@@MrAliFranca Yes. Literally.
Literally? Come on you need some sleep
@@Vario69 Yes literally
*screw you satan im gonna give myself a small cut on my hand!*

@@Revacholiere I've seen streamers have a bunch of possible alerts that can play at random rather than the same one over and over which is better IMO. Also maybe only for like 5+ gifted rather than every sub because I agree they can get in the way of the stream if it's constant

People keep in memories old Magdalene, but in Repentance she is top tier. With Angel items stronger than evil one AND the "full health" pill on first sacrifice room cheese is just broken.
Can you explain what you meant by the “full health” pill on the first sacrifice room cheese?
@@anti-ethniccleansing465basically, as Maggy starts with a full health pill after doing a challenge (dont remember which one), and if you get a first floor sac room, you can sac a bunch and abuse yum heart and the full health pill to at get Angel room+Angel item first floor

Eve:
Taking damage to do damage? I disagree.

Samson:
Pub nachos
Me: Cereal
Yeah, Samson scales a lot better and synergizes with various other items that require you to take damage.

it’s crazy how powerful t lilith was before gello had value homing and now she’s god tier. hands down most faceroll character
Tainted Eve is seriously undervalued here. After about 40 hours T-Lost grind, T-Eve was my next character to complete and so far it took me 4 Runs to get All the original marks and I got Perfection on the third floor almost everytime.
T-Eve feels really strong so far. Only missing Beast, Mother and Greedier
yea genuinely no idea, tainted eve is so strong. sump is so broken its kinda like better incubus
Magdeline starts with a full health pill, yum heart, and 4 hp, meaning you can always try for an angel item in the first sacrifice room
Those tier list names are so accurate it’s incredible
Brother
Would love to see a Tierlist of all new items, trinkets, cards etc. that Repentance added
The tier names in this list are heavy Dan Gheesling energy and I high-key love it

Dude some of these are insane. TAzazel is almost at the top but TEve is near the bottom somehow. Same for Lilith, no clue what’s going through his mind.
i have never played this game and mostly only watch you. This list is true.
Tainted lost is the easiest then you go tainted Cain if you want something a little harder
I think tainted Eden is the best character. Just play long enough and you become so powerful.
I had around 20ish flies when I battled Hush, and he was just melting (and this was a run where my character's tear firing was around 1.15 speed, so he wasn't firing the tears very fast)
The fact that Tainted Apollyon is capable of not only gaining extra damage output with the locusts that is upgraded by your damage itself increasing means that the Red Locusts can synergize with your character in dealing a lot of extra damage towards bosses.

My kind of tier list. I'm going to start ranking things on a range of Light Cream Cheese Product to Pub Nachos
Omg! The package bit was gold! This egg knows what side of the bread has the butter
That Dark Judas typo comment had me rolling! So fucking true tho!
Really surprised that T. Keeper was put mid-tier. I thought he’d place him at the top.
@@Drekromancer that's just skill issue😭

54:25 honestly absolutely fucking yes, with how generally good the shops are for t. keeper i'd rather pick him
Some people are iffy on the Eve placement, but as much as I like her I gotta agree she's weak.
I totally agree with you man
I was so ready for another edit when he went to get his package.
Just waiting for the tier list of I think you should leave season 2
"Cain is worse in Repentance" LITERALLY HOW?? He got a HUGE buff.
Bethany’s my strongest character because my save file is bugged and the game gives me free random wisps every time I clear a room lmao
Interesting fact:
If you have that bug in multiplayer, the other player will get the wisps too
jacob and esau get a pass for being bad since they also are cool as hell as a concept.
they probably need to introduce something to make the character less bad. maybe everytime 1 character picks up an item, the other gets a pill worth of stats? that way, each item would have an effect on both characters.
Eagerly awaiting part 2
I pretty much had a playstyle where I got a basic set of items so that I could finish the Chest/Dark Chest/Hush/Boss Rush/Deri/Beast/Mega/Corpse Mom all at once:
- Gnaw Leaf
- Steam (3-5 times for practically free items)
- Restock for infinite Store Items
- BFF (To have DLL to more damage per stomp)
- Daddy Long Legs multiple times (I think I had like 30ish or so when I finished)
- Dad's Key to unlock Mega Satan
- Schoolbag to hold two Active Items
- Mama Mega! to Unlock ??? and Boss Rush in a SANE matter (since trying to play Tainted Cain legit and rushing to them is suicide/dumb)
- R Key, to start the run all over again and keep all the items
I just often left the computer after entering a boss room and just grabbed a drink and watched videos.
Super late reply but also getting every boss challenge room reward becomes trivial. so many advantages
Time to rerank all the items now ;)
Can’t wait for the 7 hour item ranks
Im expecting tainted cain to a masterpiece already
Yo finally a good tier list , but I think lost should be higher slightly and cain should also be higher
Maggy has given me a sacred heart first floor. Cain just turns a big drop you find almost always good and you can just play using whatever you find.
45:50 might just be the funniest thing I've heard all week
On Tainted Cain, I personally agree with what alot of people say to do with him. Randomize the crafting recipies, so it throws more unpredictability at him. Sometimes you get godhead sacred heart, and sometimes you get tiny planet soy milk. I personally think that would make him much funner then making rock bottom + red stew + soy milk.
Best tier list for this game, with the possible swap of tainted eden and J&E

I wish tainted Isaac started with fewer item slots, maybe even as ridiculously low as 4, but have more ways to increase his item slots than just the 1/500+ chance of getting birthright. Idk how that would be implemented though.
8 is fine
Does he not now that Cain starts with higher speed and damage
I love it when you poop on chat, gets m every time
i'm on my first 100 hours of the game and i enjoy regular Cain a lot of the handful of characters i've unlocked (i've barely done any challenges yet). the extra luck feels very noticeable to me, and makes me feel like i have a fighting chance even if the 2 hp means i might die early in a hard room. I take less devil deals and keep HP more often than with isaac. the eye patch makes me feel like kurt russell
I would have ranked the lost higher, spectral, flying, holy mantal and reroll is just to good
Tainted blue baby could win a run completely itemless, just saying....
cant wait to watch this pog
I disagree with just about everything in the video.
this video was made before the blue baby buffs
Wonder what the list is like now with updated older characters.
I thought about this too. TLaz is basically fine now, and TJacob and TEden are FAR less bullshit than before. Normal Laz and Blue Bozzy got a little help too. I'd probably call regular Laz a low Pub Nachos, TLaz a Ham Sandwich, and Blue Bozzy, TJacob, and TEden a Light Cream Cheese Product. You could argue that TJacob and TEden are still Captain America pre-serum though.
