Just started the vid and looking very forward to this. Update- Finished the video and love your ideas. Made some very good points. I love the breakdown of the building process discussion and how we graduate or grow as pilots and deck builders. Thank y'all. Ive been playing since Ice Age and the point made helped me think a bit differantly and gave me things to think about so im sure this is gonna be very beneficial to newer players. Thank y'all. Keep up all the hard and excellant work! 🤘❤️🤘
Ive never played cedh but tinkering with Rowan, scion of war has inspired me and some of my pod to build subcedh decks. One factor that keeps me away from cedh is that I am a special snowflake who loves to brew new things. Seeing dragonstorm woke me up to some of the fun Rowan can get upto and is pretty much the reason i picked her up, but I always feel like i have to put my own spin on it. Deck creation and choice to me is a deep and personal artistic expression. With all that said i love watching cedh and learning about the highest levels of tech conceived.
I'm a total cedh newbie and this really helped me to contextualize why people play the cards that they do in a deck. I think most people have the misconception that every cedh deck is all the generic good stuff/broken magic cards and although there is a good amount of overlap with card selection that definitely isn't the case. Currently I'm brewing a slimefoot and squee deck and this whole video has been a huge help. I hope you make more content based on brewing from scratch.
I got to play against Sam Black on his Rog and Thrasios list. That deck can generate mana and maximize Gaea's cradle like none other! The deck goes nuts with Candelabra and Minamo. Had to deal with Candelabra and Seedborn Muse on turn 3. That was a tough and weird game, but in the end it was a blast!
Amazing episode! Thank you!!I really enjoy seeing you two together. Also, I feel mostly people talks about the hot decks at the time and I really think that maybe focus on the decks that are still relevant but not doing quite as well (tivit, Yuriko, atraxa, and even Kingman) shows the meta and the deck build from another perspective. Like why those decks are failing?
Edh Boomer here. Teeg was one of the major culprits that led to the idea of mandatory levels of bounce/removal. And this was in the era of Rofello as a legal commander 😅
I 100% agree on the "why isn't this card in the list" but how does one find the reputable people who publish their decks to learn if it's not a deck with a huge representation etc :)
That's a good question. Looking for results on edhtop16.com can certainly be a start. If there's nothing there though you might have to snoop around discord or twitter or reddit for people talking about the list.
My Kels cedh list is doing excellent. Thank you guys for your aupport. I was what peoples thoughts were on Selvalla Explorer? Ive been tinkering with semi elf tribal/soft stax, but im not really used to Selesnya.
I'm working on a marchesa, dealer of death list. I think its good because it's fairly unassuming but it sees a lot of cards. One other card I think could be good is Fear, Fire, Foes. Because damage can't be prevented is good against one ring protection, it's a removable spell when it's not getting around one ring, and it's low mana value on the ad naus curve
I had a Thrasios tymna and a Thrasios/vial smasher cedh but I found 90% of the times people would look at the commanders then have 3 against 1 for most of my games any recomdations on maybe not as powerful commanders but keeping the same colors ?
It's a little surprising to hear that, cause nowadays I would expect those decks to not be threat assessed quite that hard in a typical cEDH pod. Tymna/Thrasios specifically would usually be an ideal deck to get the table on your side. If your issue is getting focused that hard, it could be an issue with not having a deck that can handle it and maybe playing something even more aggressively powerful could help. In general I'd say focusing on highlighting when your pod makes mistakes with targeting you over swapping decks to avoid it.
Are you playing against meta cedh decks or just against strong edh decks? Pulling out a traditional cedh deck against a non-cedh will get you focused, when all 4 decks are equally infamous/strong you’ll have a better time. My yuriko will get constantly focused if it’s the only famous strong commander on the table, when there’s an urdragon, tymna thrasion and a kinnan in the table it feels more equal
*I watched the whole video I run Slicer Hired Muscle I have quite a few weaknesses I know slicer isn't CEDH but I love it.. I'm trying to Build a Pako and Halden I really don't know what CEDH deck that is good*
Slicer does pop up in cEDH especially on MTGO. Pako/Haldan shows up too, if you're ever looking for the topdecks make sure to check out edhtop16.com, best site in the community for lists by far.
I used to never play yawgmoth thran physician until orcish bowmasters was printed. My friends still laugh at it but it's a draw engine in the right scenario that kills problematic board pieces when needed
The problem with CEDH is that the viable deck options are pretty small. It's the same Korvold, Tivet, Rog/Si, Kinnan, Tymna/Kraum, Sisay, Najeela, Kenny, Atraxa, Talion, Ob Nix, Tayam. These decks are already solved. This takes the deck building aspect out of CEDH which kinda sux. It is nice to see a new deck make an appearance like Zurgo and Ojutai, but it happens pretty rarely. WotC needs to find a way to bring more variability to CEDH or the format will get even more stale then it is now.

I love it so much, easily my favorite deck at the moment.
I love this channel. ❤ Also, as always.....Go Magda!
Thank you! Magda is sick!

I miss these videos. The original content I subbed for :)
We got a good bit planned out for the summer!
@@LemorasCards can't wait! 🙌
Step 1 - Start with Gaddock Teeg as your commander
Step 2 - Stax them out for the win!
❤❤❤

If I was trying to find out about a deck, first I'd see if anyone had been playing it. Using edhtop16 as a resource, then go from there.

Very good episode.
Maybe break it down into core concepts
Interaction
Layering
Advantage engines

Woo!
Great content as always
Thank you!
What decks are you currently working on? Should we do another deck building episode going deeper on it? Let me know down below!
I'm working on making Narset enlightened exhile better. I haven't had any tournament success with her yet.
Just started a rogsi and rakdos the muscle decks
@@joshholman8172 Rakdos looks really cool.
I am currently brewing 5C Lurrus Staxbears, no reference material exiats online soo, I am a CEDH Adventurer atm...
I cut heat shimmer for molten duplication in etali
Seems like a good one, a guy at my locals made the same swap.
Wouldn’t you want both?
@davidew345 only get so many slots!
Idk a ton about etali, but I always assumed that they want almost every clone effect available. But I guess that’s not the case.
Need that rog/thras mh3 update sir

I think it looks really good in certain decks, I still really wanna put together something like the Japanese Rog/Tevesh decks that run yawg in the 98.
@@LemorasCards yeah exactly in decks with mana dorks or tevesh decks I have it in my Malcolm tevesh list
