    Those stickers are super cute! I have a feeling they take a bit of time, those programs look complicated but the result is worth it! So cute!

      Thank you! Yes, it is a bit of a process, but once the file is made, its easy to print and cut more. :)

    I can't believe you figured out all those very detailed steps! It's amusing to me to take something so simple as those marker chicks but then need to do so many technical steps to create the page. Please know that I am a detail oriented artist myself and I am in no way knocking the process! I am thanking you for your generosity of spirit, time, and intellectual property! So much work into what artists do. I'm working on some tutorials in my medium and these videos feel like they are going to be hours long with all the little details I have to talk about! Sometimes we really take for granted how much we just "know'' after a while, what has become muscle memory for us. Anyway, thank you for sharing this.

    hey! such a good video! I use silhouette studio all the time and i think i have a quicker/easier way for you to do the outlines. when you select the trace area, instead of hitting the 'trace outer edge' button, click the 'trace and detach' (only highlight the designs, not any text etc'. Then select the background behind the designs and delete it. Then select all of your little designs and use the offset tool. There you can adjust the size/thickness of the outline/boarder around the designs by changing the measurement. I hope this wasn't confusing and was actually helpful xD xxx

    Thank you!!!! I’ve been watching so many videos on cutting stickers and each one teaches me something new but I still felt like I was missing something. Having a video that started in photoshop (which I love using) showed me things that I wasn’t seeing. They would show things in the silhouette program but it was like it magically did it for them but not me. I think this video helped a bit. Thanks!!

    To help with the curling if you flip the mat over on your work surface so the paper front is face down and then bend the mat off the paper while holding the rest of the paper flat on the desk it'll prevent the paper from curling. Just thought I'd give you that little tip that I just found out about.

    A quick tip for you (even though this vid is 2 years old). If you turn the mat upside down and peal the mat away from the suckers and not the other way around (like in your vid). The stickers will not curl has you are curling the mat off, and the stickers are staying flat on the table (put something on the table so they don't get dirty etc). I use the Circuit 2 and I think the mat is a little thiner which helps when the curling it away from my stickers.

    I've just bought myself a cricut, as I want to make stickers, so a lot of these videos have been popping up for me on my recommended, yours was really good! Although I was worried that I wouldn't be able to use silhouette studio with cricut, but apparently I can! Yay! The cricut design studio, isn't as comprehensive, to do kiss cuts and deep cuts you have to fiddle about and layer stuff, its weird. But yeah will be giving this software a go...thank you!

    Great tutorial! .. Time saver : You could have kept your magic wand for removing your backgrounds.. You had a tolerance of 15 so you just needed to put it down to 2 or 3, since you have a clean 1 color white background. The lower the tolerance, the higher color precision you have when selecting :) Thank you again for your great tutorial!

    • @NElizabeth

      Yeah... a cutting machine definitely makes things much faster and easier. However, if you don't have one, you could also just use scissors and cut each sticker out individually. I've also seen people take an Xacto knife and lightly cut around each sticker to achieve a kiss cut. Not a quick process, but it gets the job done! :)

    • @NElizabeth
      @NElizabeth  6 лет назад +2

      Hi! It sounds like the issue is that your cut settings are too strong and it's cutting all the way through the paper instead of just the sticky top layer. You should go into Silhouette Studio's cut settings and change the depth to a smaller amount. Good luck!

    What sticker paper is best to use? Which do you use for your shop?

    • @NElizabeth
      @NElizabeth  7 лет назад +2

      Hello! I have a blog post here that explains the differences between types of sticker paper:
      blog.nelizabeth.com/2017/2/18/types-and-brands-of-sticker-paper
      It really depends on what you're looking for when it comes to a paper. Most people prefer a removable adhesive for stickers, so just a basic, standard, removable matte sticker paper is the most common on Etsy. I'd prefer not to post the exact sticker paper that I use in my shop publicly, but I use a semi-matte paper with a permanent adhesive. Most of my stickers are for bullet journalling, so I don't need to worry as much about writability. Most companies will send you free samples of their papers, so I'd recommend testing a few out with your printer and deciding what you like best! :)

    Really cute stickers, and very clear and informative video!
    Is this also how I'd make adhesive decals with a Silhouette? Is it possible to have an outside print shop do the printing and take the sheets home to do the cutting myself?

      Thank you! Glad you found the video helpful! :) Yes, the Silhouette machine can cut many different materials, such as vinyl sheets for decals. You will just want to make sure your cut settings are correct for the material that you are using! Theoretically, it is possible to have a print shop print the sheets for you and cut them yourself; You would just need to export your files as PDFs with the appropriate registration marks. That being said, I've found that exported PDFs from Silhouette Studio end up compressing the file and making prints blurry. Additionally, the first several weeks of using your machine will be a bit of a trial period. It often takes a while to get the hang of it and get accurate cuts. So, just be careful if you do choose to have a print shop do the printing, as you might head there more often than desired in the first few weeks due to troubleshooting.

    Hi! My daughter and I had such a great time watching this video. Where did you gain all of your knowledge? Do you have a graphic design background?

      Hi! I'm happy to hear you and your daughter enjoyed watching the video! I actually do not have a formal graphic design background, however I've been an avid arts and crafter my whole life. I've been using Photoshop since highschool, and constantly enjoy trying new crafts, so I've just picked up most of my knowledge through many years of trying and failing! :)

      I have a Silhouette Cameo 2, which I bought back in 2016. I believe the current models are Silhouette Cameo 3s.

    Hi, just want to let you know that your Etsy shop is down and has been down since may. You did say that it would be back up in June 2018, but it still isn’t up in January 2019. Not to be annoying or anything, but just to inform you. ❤️

    What type of sticker paper do you use? I’ve tried the Avery shipping labels, but it gives my stickers a really grainy looking texture.

    • @NElizabeth
      @NElizabeth  5 лет назад

      www.sheetlabels.com/ is my favorite place to buy sticker paper. They have a lot of options available. Most matte papers will be a little grainy, so you will probably want to find something glossy or more premium than standard matte paper.

    would you recommend the silhouette machine over the circuit for stickers

    • @NElizabeth
      @NElizabeth  6 лет назад

      I've personally never used a Cricuit, so I honestly cannot give a 50-50 comparison or recommendation. That being said, I do believe most people in the sticker niche use a Silhouette. I've also heard that the Silhouette software is much more user friendly than the Cricuit one. I love my Silhouette and would absolutely recommend it. I just have no basis of saying it's better than the Cricuit. :)

    What cutting machine do you use? And how much does it cost? :)

    • @NElizabeth
      @NElizabeth  6 лет назад +4

      I use the Sillhouette Cameo 2, however they have since came out with a new model. Both Silhouette and Cricut are companies that offer various cutting machines at various price points. I'd recommend looking up a few reviews online to figure out the best model for what you're planning on doing with it. I believe when I bought mine almost three years ago, it came in a bundle package with a few other supplies for about $250. The Silhouette Portrait is a smaller model with less features but about half the cost as well.
