    My grandmother when I was about 6 used to take me to Beverly park in New Malden to watch the Merchant navy and Battle of Britain class locomotives steam past.............. happy days

    As an Island nipper growing up in the 40s 50s and early 60s these scenes are enduringly familiar. Thanks for the chance to relive the memories.

    I remember this exact trip bus to St Albans station, train to St Pancras 8 car DMU, tube to Waterloo, WC and MN Pacifics still in use but 12 car 4 cor set to Portsmouth Harbour, paddle steamer to Ryde, steam hauled to Sandown.

    You can almost smell the exhausts ! Ventnor station was a modellers delight and those wonderfull little O2s !

    Three Replicas, i can see in the future, when it downs on evreyone...... 2 O2s W31, & W15, & paddle steamer PS Sandown.
