This was so great, Mandy! At 54, I deal with many of the changing skin issues Angie does and makeup application techniques that younger women use, simply don't work for me. Hi Mandy, thank you for this video! I loved it when you said “not everyone needs a bronzer or highlighter”, this is very true of the look you created for your guest. She looks great, and as an older woman myself this video checked all the boxes as I find I need less and some things in my makeup I had to change, as age required, what once worked for me does so no longer. You're right! We don't have to use every single product that someone else uses in a video. I think a lot of us get used to using a certain set of products in a certain order, when we really don't need all of it.

Great tutorial! I’m 51 and in the last 2 years I’ve had to change my makeup application quite a bit. Less is definitely more. I love what you said about working with what ya got. I’ve never liked doing the outer 7 on the eyes because it felt so unnatural to me plus it always looked off on me although I have slightly hooded eyes thanks to gravity. I think the other big change for me are my brows, I’ve had to stop using a pencil altogether because I felt it looked to harsh no matter the color I tried. Powder is definitely the way to go with some brow gel on top. Would love to see more over 50 tutorials 😉

Great video and so welcome to all of us who are more mature and have hooded eyes. I have been doing my make up that way for a while and I think it looks just as nice as if I had put on five or six colors. When I first started watching RUclips I couldn’t believe how many colors the people would apply. If I tried that, most of them wouldn’t show up anyway. Great video! And great makeup philosophy.
I feel the same way, even as someone without hooded eyes. It's a ton of work when you can get a beautiful look being much more minimal in your approach. xoxo

Beautiful before and beautiful after! Mandy, thank you! THIS is exactly what I wanted to see. I have some of the same issues Angie has and watching this tutorial has given me great tips and techniques. I have severely hooded eyes so this is a huge help. I just want my eyes to look more awake and not like I haven't slept in a year. I've got to work on tightlining. Angie's eyes just popped when you added it. Absolutely beautiful.
I am so happy it was helpful Brenda. I always tell my clients to start practicing tightlining right before they wash their face at night. That way if you mess up, it's not a big deal. And eventually you get the hang of it. I did this for 2 weeks when I first started tightlining, and now I can do it with no mirror in a matter of seconds. xoxo

Great ideas for us! The one lid color is definitely worth trying... And I'm grateful about the advice to not use bronzer.I never could make it look good... Does contour make us mature woman look muddy?We only ever had blush when I was younger.
It can sometimes make anyone look muddy for sure, and I find very few people actually need to contour. I prefer a bronzer if I were to have to pick between the two. xoxo

Great video. I loved when you said there is nothing wrong with hooded eyes that need to be changed. I am 74, love skincare and makeup and I am always trying to change the shape of my eyes with makeup. I wish you were in Los Angeles, California so I could see you in person.

Thanks for saying you don’t have to fight against what you have - I have wasted so much time trying to “learn” the windshield wiper across my crease, only to realize (after watching Bobbi Brown do an every day eye) that patting it on is best - I can put it EXACTLY where I want, then blend - if I overdo it and it looks too harsh, I’ve been taking the concealer brush I used for my face (to stipple in) to go over the edges - it really makes my shadow look more natural - I figured it out myself, being frustrated not able to fix things, by thinking outside the box - I’ve never seen anyone use a concealer brush with residue concealer on it to buff in shadow, but it works for me!!!

This was a beautiful look on a lovely client. I would love it if you do more makeup application techniques on more mature models, and especially for brown eyes. I always feel that it makes it too dark when I do the one color wash and I need to have a light color on the mobile lid. Colors of eyeshadow are always hard for me to choose, so your suggestions would be appreciated.

Great tutorial. Make-up should enhance what you already have, which is what you accomplished here. Your suggestions are not as time consuming. I’m a substitute teacher taking care of elderly parents and don’t have a lot of time for makeup. For my brows, I actually tried microblading and love it. I was skeptical at first, but I never have to worry about my brows. Huge help. I just turned 53 and a lot has changed. Always look for videos that help me manage those changes. Beautiful lady and beautfil makeup! Great tips. Jane Iredale is just so good. What do you recommend for eye base if you're going to use a cream shadow stick or pot, combined with powder in the crease (laying down the cream shadow first)? Thanks!
I do the same priming every time whether I use a cream shadow, a stick shadow or a powder. I use a concealer and set lightly with a powder. :)
