I love how natural you are in your videos. I only just found them but I think they may change my life! I am 54 and struggling a bit with all the changes that brings. You are giving me hope that I can still be attractive. Thank you x
I thought I started looking like a clown in my thirties and stopped using makeup. I then thought I was missing some polish to my look. I like the no makeup look now that I figured it out.
In London I see made up teens/20’s women who look like a mortician made them up for an open casket funeral. It looks eerie and so unappealing. All that heavy contouring!
Also it is kind of ageist to judge women for wearing makeup in their 50’s. If it makes one feel happier to wear more makeup and to have fun with it, then why not!
Enjoying all your videos. For my “no makeup” makeup look I use BB cream, tinted lip balm, mascara and eye brow pencil. I agree that less is more at any age.
Thank you, Marie-Anne. I spend more money on skincare products (especially moisturizers with SPF 50 or higher) than on makeup. Like you,I don’t use a lot of makeup, just a little mascara and some Vaseline tinted lip balm. I will try to brush my lips before putting on any lip product next time. Also, I needed to buy some shoes today and thought, “What would Marie-Anne do?” before purchasing a lovely pair of navy blue pumps. 🙂 You are such an inspiration!
@@bordeauxhouse Oh, I don't know, I first heard Marie-Anne's sense of humor when she talked about leggings (!), and Capri pants ("automatic leg shorteners")! So glad that you are talking about makeup over 50, Marie-Anne, I certainly do need the help!! I just don't have the time to do a bunch of makeup anymore!! Merci bien, Madame, et a bientot!!😊😊💗💗✝️⚜️
After I moisturise the skin, I use cream versions of all cosmetics to combat the drying of the skin. I personally don't use powder any more. Very nice tips.
Great topic! Thank you! Makeup is tricky, especially for fair skin. Eye shadow is difficult for me. Less is more, except lipstick!! I 😍lipstick and lip gloss.
GR CinqMars I agree. I am very fair as well. I was buying makeup recently to go to a wedding. Haven’t worn foundation for ages. I bought one from Clinique because the sales assistant was so helpful. Never thought I’d buy a compact foundation but it was great! I did use a moisturising balm underneath. It was a gift with purchase and I’d definitely buy it again.
I am 63, American, and have never worn foundation and never will. I have never worn lipstick but may do a tinted balm or gloss. Doesn't lipstick just come off when you eat, drink, kiss, blow your nose, etc. ? I am mostly about concealer, mascara, blush and now brow color. I rarely wear sunscreen. I think I look a few years younger than my age and am pretty pleased.
Fantastic topic. As I get older I use less makeup and what I do use I blend ... blend.... blend so I get a natural look. Even lipstick I use more as a stain by rubbing my finger over to take off the excess. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and techniques.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Yes, I do the no-makeup look. For many years I just did no makeup at all. My routine is similar to yours. Prime, mix moisturizer with BB cream, very lightly brush with tranluscent powder, hint of blush, a bit of eyebrow (powder not pencil), and mascara. Some occasions I may use a bit of eye shadow if I need some extra vavavoom. I love the no-makeup look. I feel more polished than when I used none at all. Yet I could never embrace the cosmetics mask so prevalent in the States (especially here in southern California). For a time I did enjoy drawing on the cat eye with liquid liner. Now that I'm in the second half of my thirties, that doesn't "glide on" easily, as you put it. So I let that go along with my long hair. After watching your video on the French chic hair philosophy, I've kept it above shoulder length and stopped highlighting.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur i enjoy all of the formats you've used, but especially like when you're in the studio having a "girl chat" with our community. I love it when you model outfits for us as well.
I love using a lip scrub to remover dry skin in my lips. I use 1/4 teaspoon of sugar with just a a drop or two of extra virgin olive oil. I only wipe the sugar off and some of the oil remains.
Excellent video Marie-Anne! I love your beautiful pink, black and white backdrop and your new video format. Regarding makeup, I agree that too much is very aging. We have all seen "women of a certain age" (at least in Canada and the U.S.) wearing mask like foundation that ends at the jawline, powder that accentuates wrinkles and dark lipstick that bleeds into lip lines. I am 65 and suit bright lipstick, red or fuschia, but have toned this down to neutrals for during the day. I mix a high SPF moisturizer with my foundation and apply with a rounded sponge. I always wear powdered blush as I am very pale. My eyes are my best feature, so I use eyelid primer, a thin line of charcoal kohl pencil on the upper lid and mascara on the upper lashes. Sometimes I'll add a little gloss to my lips. I am definitely going for a more natural look as I age.
Totally appreciate this video! Several years ago, to my horror, I discovered that my old tried and true makeup routine simply did not serve me any more! I looked HORRIBLE-scary, even. I learned to spend more on skin care, and less on cosmetics! I loved the result. I felt more like myself than I had in YEARS! Next I took a picture of a style I liked, sat in my hair stylist’s chair and got my hair cut-short! No more hair color, no more overdone makeup, and I feel great! Natural and minimal work for me!
Learning so very much from you, Marie-Anne! It’s such a joy to return to being ME! Thank you for all that you do! I especially thought it was charming the way you referred to the eyelash curler as a torture device. Your wit is delightful, Friend!
Yes, I agree. A good hair cut and skin care can be the best way to look more youthful! Some women fuss about style and clothes, but neglect these important factors. I think if you have a good cut, makeup, diet and exercise, then you can wear just a tee and jeans and look a million dollars 😁😁
I am a very pale redhead. I also live in the state of Georgia where it is hot/ warm most of the year. I use Clinique City Block instead of foundation. It’s a tinted sunblock with a high spf. The color is very sheer.
Hi Marie-Anne, I am 66 and work as a nurse, so my makeup is very little to none, mostly none on work days. Special occasions I will use mascara on top lashes, lipstick either a neutral or a tone that is similiar to the tones in clothes. My skin is dry, crepy, so I leave powdered things off, especially eyeshadow, since the shadow makes my eyelids drag down more than they already do (Id make a nice bloodhound with my eyes LOL). I use lots of Benefit especially the lip and cheek tint. Love your videos!!!!
That Laura Mercier primer is really good - I worked on an LM counter very briefly, and clients in this age range were always very impressed with it. With foundation, how you apply it makes all the difference: with a beauty blender sponge, for example. This makes sure that the foundation is mainly where you need it. Definitely agree about Benefit eyebrow products - best I've tried. I tend to spend more on skincare now than I used to, but in some ways I am more adventurous. The trick for me is to do the whole look together: make up, outfit and how I feel that day, where I'm going etc. Thank you for doing a video for women over 50: I like all kinds of make up videos, but as you say, most are for women in their 20s, with looks that just aren't appropriate for someone older. Moreover, they use a lot of make up.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Actually, I am an artist and I am already building up one Instagram account just with hand-drawn images, no personal stuff or photography as such. I started last October, with a social media challenge called Inktober, and I have added to it gradually. I am doing a Masters in Illustration, so it ties in with that. I am gwenllianpark on Instagram if you are interested! If I start something connected with beauty and women's health, etc. then that would be a different account, but not much time at the moment!
This is a very good video. Make up becomes a whole different story I am noticing. Product formulation and density becomes so important. I stopped using foundation but started using concealer. Good quality powder and eyeliner is essential to look somewhat human like 😉
Technically this can be used for ANY age 😊 I am 22 and I tend to tone it down more and more versus how I used to like 4 years ago (ie: bright colors, thick liner, a mask of foundation, full contour and highlight). Being more minimal also is more economical! Thanks for sharing!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I went on a trip recently, and I put on my makeup. To begin with, I brought as little as possible, but the finished result was really pretty and I think I might want to stick to that from now on 🤣😂👏🏻
I eschewed make-up altogether. I like the straightforward look of photos from the turn of the 20th century, but also, every time I wore make-up, no matter how light and minimal, I was told I looked like David Bowie.
True, I buy E.L.F. (eyes lips face). It's very inexpensive and I think it is surprisingly good for the cost. Most items can be about $3-4 dollars. They have their own website and are sold in some stores. I don't think I'll find a reason to ever spend more.
@@annoldham3018 I like the Rimmel blush. I think I was around 15 when I first used it and I'm quite a bit older than you lol. I always keep one as a handbag touch up along with a lipstick in a small make-up purse in whatever handbag I'm using that day. Sometimes those older brands are such good staples, and I don't think the price of rimmel has changed that much since I was a teenager lol
I try to keep my skin moisturized and I notice my make up goes on much more smoother and the foundation won’t cake. I try to take care better care of my skin now that I am approaching my 50’s. I wished I had started younger but I think it’s never too late. Also like dressing we need to apply make up appropriate for our age. Nothing flashy, just keep it natural
Hello Marie -What a wonderful video . I am 56 and was looking for some new makeup over 50 channels . I just found your channel. I also use cruelty free products and appreciate the list . I just subscribed to your channel Have a great day
I find I am using much less make now as I have gotten older. I too have noticed the difference in my skin. I use a red lip as well to brighten my face.
I like Urban Decay eyebrow powder and pencils, easy to use and do not smudge!!! With age you need more color so I do use blush to brighten my face!! I love the Dior eyeshadow quads and I have one in navy . Thanks Marie-Anne, another informative video
My skin is definitely getting drier as I get older. I find I am buying less makeup and more moisturizers nowadays. A trick I’ve learned is to use very, very, light coats. If you use a brush, lightly stipple it rather than sweep it around to hide pores. I don’t use powders anymore, but if you do, put it lightly on the brush and gently roll it across your skin to keep it from settling in too much. Start as thin as possible and build on any places that need more. Ultra thin layers is how Leonardo painted. :-) I can also share some company information I have collected - All Cruelty Free: Hourglass (also has vegan and gluten free collections), Too Faced (also has vegan collection), CoverFX (vegan), Gabriel (vegan, gluten free), Marc Jacobs, Ilia, Anytonym, Juice Beauty, Mineral Fusion (most products are vegan), Tatcha, Bite Beauty, Urban Decay (has some vegan products), Dr. Hauschka (gluten free, most skin care, foundation, concealer, and eyeliner are vegan).
When my kids were small and even teenagers, I did not make time for makeup.. now I am enjoying taking more care.. with ex foliation, moisturiser and natural looking makeup. Adding just enough definition and colour that I look well rested.
I have to say I use way more makeup than you do because I love makeup and perfumes and because...that's how I roll in this life. I like the simplicity of your style, though. I have been following Hot and Flashy for some years and I like her channel very much. Another great channel and lady I love is Dominique Sachs. She is a beautiful woman and she is really great with all lifestyle and wellness stuff. Thank you for your video, I appreciate all your work and I wish you all the best. I also speak French and I love French culture (my writing is not very good, so I will continue commenting in English).
Thank you! I just turned 60 and I quit wearing makeup a few years ago because it doesn't look good anymore. I had just given up until I saw your videos. Specifically, my skin has thinned and developed fine lines. The makeup sits in the wrinkles and makes me look worse. Also, I am a small framed woman, and my face now looks so bony now and the dark circles are terrible. Your look so beautiful and chic. That gives me hope. This is just what I need to be able to develop a new look.
Vous êtes très belle! Your videos are entertaining and relaxing! I love french culture and want to become fluent in the language. So your videos are very informative on French culture! Thank you!
I completely agree with you!! Je suis une Americaine-Francaise, j'aime beaucoup, aussi, La Belle Langue, and the French culture, but especially, the French language!! I wanted to get my doctorate in French, and I still love using my now-limited French vocabulary and just give it a try!! That's one big reason that I love Marie-Anne's Channel!! Merci, et a bientot!!✝️⚜️
@@MarieAnneLecoeurtrès bien! I just found your channel and subscribed. So do you wear red lipstick every day? You said you wear it for the videos. What color would you wear every day. J'aime la langue française aussi!
Salut Marie-Anne - I am in Hamilton Ontario which is directly across Lake Ontario from Toronto .........love watching your videos, your tips are great and you have such a winning personality. Thank you for all your tips, I keep watching and learning.
Those pops of pink in the background are gorgeous! Love the flowers and the cushion, and I recognize that top from your previous video--it suits you beautifully! 🏵🌸🌹
Very, very pretty. I like color on the skin but I do like to keep it as natural as possible. For me, I use eyebrow pencil, rouge and lipstick. Right now I am loving all natural Kosas lip stick. I just love your filming room!!!
The Marie-Anne the Vegan part is very good, and you look Fabulous, I cleanse and moisterise well, and wear make-up lightly, enhance my eyes as they are big,but i never over do it, just subtle tones, and highlight top of cheeks, use creamy eye shadows, a bit of bronze at the mo,no mascara, a little bit of pencil end of eyes and a creamy med blush, and Tres bon Xx
The pinks and navies around you are gorgeous, Marie-Anne. This video is right on time, you must’ve known I turn 50 at the end of this month! Your makeup is always perfect, so natural, but just right. This was a very useful video. I love a minimalistic makeup, especially very minimal eye, but a matte red lip always is so classic...my favorite. I do believe upper lash mascara is very necessary as we age. You shouldn’t see the makeup, just a better looking lady, is how I feel. I’m a huge fan of benefit eye bright! I’ve been using it for years. Silly thing, I’ve always been afraid curling my eyelashes, I don’t know why, it’s really silly. As I age, I think I’m afraid of losing any of those precious lashes. By the way, I could listen to you speak French forever! Thank you for another great video, Marie-Anne💖xx
Marie-Anne Lecoeur the flowers are really a beautiful addition! Yes, to keep my lashes supple, I sleep with an extremely light coat of Vaseline (truly the very tiniest amount) applied ever so lightly and gently with a Q-tip. Keeps them nicely moisturized. Thank you for adding in a little French for us, I only understand a few words, but honestly, I enjoy it so much. 💖xx
My skin has become much more reactive to certain products. This is to the point of having chemical burns below the eye. I have to have completely dry skin before I apply anything. My skin is fair, dark blond to brown hair and blue eyes. I am 69 years old. I use Aquaphore products for moisturizing. I use Tracy Martyn for cleansing. I go to the spa associated with my dermatologist every six weeks to two months for dermaplaning and facial. They will do a skin check for me every 6 months (looking for suspicious lesions). I use a concealer, primer mixed with a small amount of foundation, mascara, eyebrow pencil and lipstick. Less is truly best! I love your presentations. I feel more confident and comfortable when I watch them. Thank you for your help!
You look beatiful, your makeup looks so fresh, I´m 64 and my routine is sunblock colored foundation, (French brand), eyebrown, mascara and lipstick, I should confess I love the red ones, I buy medium prices makeup, it works on me, and of course a good perfume, love perfumes. Good to hear about friendly vegan cosmetics.
I am 58 and I am now only using Caviar sticks by Laura Mercier over the Tatcha The silk canvas primer on my eyes. It has made a big difference. No creasing and lasts all day. On my face I like Bobbi Brown moisturizing foundation and creamy blush. I have gotten away from powders accept for the bareminerals original as just a light dusting setting powder on my nose at the end.
Thank you! Fun video! I like to use a tinted sunscreen/moisturizer. It is so light on my skin and doesn't have that heavy feel that so many foundations have. A little tinted lip balm and mascara and I am ready for my day!
Marie Anne you are wonderful. After listening to you video l went out and bought a lip primer. Wow wish l had known sooner. I am so pleased no bleeding iinto my lines. Thank you 👍💞
merci Marie-Anne ! Je suis contente de savoir que nous avons la même routine pour le maquillage . Je suis millitaire et le maquillage "sans maquillage" me convient parfaitement . bonne journée et à bientôt !
I love your look, you always look so beautiful and put together, and you have a pleasant, conversational manner that makes watching you so nice and uplifting. I am 52, my hair is a mixed gray and dark, I feel like I look seriously aged and washed out if I don’t have my eyes done. I love lipstick but with the masks, I only wear a tinted lip balm so it doesn’t smear but I still have some color for when I’m outdoors or in the car. Most of my makeup now is for my eyes now.
I am late to watching this video...but wow, so worth it. So many good little tips...including the bit of lip balm before lipstick and the wet toothbrush to exfoliate them. Never have done that!
53,and much more relaxed about how many products I use,and it it isnt perfect it doesnt bother me. If my base shifts during a day out it means I'm having fun!
Hi Marie-Ann, I badically do brows, mascara and nude lips. For some reason my eyeshadow doesn't stay on even when I use a primer. I also use a red colour reduction primer and a blurring primer from Smashbox. I'm 52 and blessed with fairly good skin so don't use foundation.
I stopped using foundation about two years ago. My skin is nice enough (I use Retin-A) and I think I look better without. I do use Burberry’s Radiance primer mixed in with my moisturizer. I put on about 50 coats of black mascara😉 because I wear thick glasses, loads of blush and RED lipstick everyday! I will look into the Bourjois lipstick as my YSL is hard to find now that I live in the US.
One nice thing about being older is that you don't need as much eye makeup. I think that may be because the eye socket is less plump and so it's already more defined. I focus on disguising blemishes and adding light to the skin, then liner, light lipstick and defining brows. When I was younger I had lovely full brows with a beautiful arch. Now they're disappearing!
I use Jane Iredale mineral cosmetics. I find they work best for me. They give good coverage but with a very natural look. I agree that less is more as I age. I love your look Marie-Anne and I do a similar look for my day to day as well. I do love a red lip for more of an evening out and a very neutral lip for everyday. I also find that I invest more in taking care of my skin. Quality skincare products that keep my skin looking healthy and glowing. I like to let that show through instead of a lot of makeup. Thank you for another wonderful video!
Merci Marie Anne for this very informative video and thank you for listing the vegan make up.options too very much appreciated by this 54 year old vegan classic french style lover!!
Thank you Thank you. Perfect topic. Interesting comparison with French ladies. Still, we all want to look nice. For my lips I use a bit of brown sugar as a lip scrub. Ps Love that navy dress in the background. Tres chic!
Marie-Anne, I love all your videos! Before I retired, I used Dior and nothing but - both skincare and makeup - but now I can't really afford it. I have very good (English) skin, and now I live in Australia I hardly wear makeup at all. The very best product for skin I have EVER tried is One Serum by Christian Dior. The results were really spectacular - please try it! I couldn't hack the eye serum, I had a reaction to that - but the regular skin one was fantastic. I also watched your video on clothes, and threw out most of my wardrobe! Can you do a video on wardrobe basics that everyone should have? You may have already done so, but I can't see it. You are such a lovely lady, well done - and your English is very impressive!
Thank you for sharing about the primer for the eye lids, I'm going to try it because I stopped using eye shadow. I'm like you I don't use alot of makeup and also using the lip balm before using mat lipstick great idea. What I use for lips to remove old skin is a lip rub that has grains.
I am in my 30s, but I like such tips. The first wrinkles are already here and in the age of 30 I became rosacea 😔 Less makeup is difficult. In summer I dont wanna wear foundation, but my cheeks are very red, so I enjoy all the other seasons more. I prefer a light coverage, I like it natural and show my freckles, but I must cover my redness. The older I get and with rosacea I must be gentle to my skin and always wear sun protection. Sun protection and read the INCIS in your products is so important. And like you I dont wear much eyeshadow. I do not own palettes anymore, just single eyeshadows 😃
I don't know if it can work with rosacea, but I swear by L'Oreal's magic skin beautifier BB cream. I have flushed cheeks (especially in the summer when I'm hot!) and this works like magic. It comes out quite liquid and green out of the tube. Once applied, it turns beige to match your skin tone. You can apply several "coats" in areas that need it most. It works on reasonable summer days (not when sweating heavily, you have to give up then). It also tones down other blemishes, while remaining semi transparent. You barely feel it once it's on, and others can't tell you are wearing anything foundation like. It's also quite inexpensive. I get it at Walmart. Don't get it on your clothes, though, it doesn't come off. To treat the underlying issues, try to limit the amount of ultra processed foods you eat.
Bonsoir ✨ Thank you for this forum to share. I very much enjoy your humor, wisdom and knowledge for the art of feminine beautification 🥰 through personal style and claiming an authentic simple system to grace our lives through the stages of womanhood. I have always focused on inner beauty, knowing this part of me is eternal and to take care of my body which houses my spirit. My routine care focuses on eating well, exercising, nourishing both body and the face with oils with essential oils and facial masks, while apply minimal makeup because I believe I shine without it. Daily oil self body massages are essential ! For an occasion I may wear mascara, blush and a red lipstick - Chanel. Otherwise a clean face, face massage, and a lip emollient daily whether I’m home or out and about. 😘
Hi Marie-Ann, another great video - thank you. I swear that I'm French, even though I don't have French parents, wasn't born in France, don't speak French and don't have French citizenship. Not only does my approach to buying and wearing clothing and jewellery mirror the French way, my make up routine mirrors is the same as yours too (or nearly). I always use it to enhance my natural looks, not alter them. The only difference, I believe, between my approach and the more typical French approach that you have is that I don't wear red lippy (too harsh for my 'summer' colouring that suits pastels and paler shades) so I wear rosy pinks, and I do wear a bit of pale pink blush too, which I think warms up the face a little. I also brush my face with a little bronzer - again to add a touch of warmth. Other than that I go minimal. I never do what a lot of Brits do these days - wear a foundation mask, heaps of eyebrow pencil that makes the brows look drawn on (horrible trend of recent years) nor do I wear a lot of eye make up. Just a bit of mascara most of the time - not even shadow or liner. At 59 that approach works for me. Oh, just to add that I can't really be French - but only because I am rubbish at tying scarves (a natural talent with the French, I've found).
I agree, less is more. I only use foundations on special occasions, weddings etc. Some of my other favorites are Elisa in Montreal and Schellea from fabulous50s.
I have learned from many makeup artists that foundation just accentuates wrinkles and will never cover them up. By the time I put on my La Roche Posay moisturizer, blush and mascara, I only need some foundation used as concealer on the dark circles and around my nose and that is it.
I have rosacea. I used to think of it as 'Yorkshire farmer's wife syndrome'! I've found that keeping sugar and additives out of my diet helps, but make up has been hit and miss. However, I have been introduced to Rosalique foundation. It works a treat. I am 64 and now have a better skin care and make up approach than I've ever had. I think your approach is so simple and your videos really fun. My next job is to simplify my wardrobe and get rid of some of those mistakes!!
Bonjour Marie-Anne, enjoyed your video and the tips. My colouring is redhead with freckled skin. As I've aged skincare products have taken priority over heavy makeup, it's time consuming but necessary. I don't wear makeup in the home, only for going out. I use a more natural colour(taupes, caramels, light blues and greens) palette for eyes, the upper lids under the brows have aged more so no highlighter or extended eyeliners either for evening. I wear blue mascara on my fair lashes(blue eyes). I have sparse fair brows so they need more artistry with powdered brow products. I use very little skin makeup now, usually a light base, no powder. Sometimes blush on cheeks for sculpting. Lips are not too thin or dry but can't wear reds and darks because doesn't suit, prefer caramels now. For evenings then more artistry is applied allover. Artificial lighting is harsh. Nice to take it off afterwards, tho.
Marie, You always look fabulous! Your so class and chic! I love your channel! I'm learning how to style simply, and have often used your suggestions. Thank - You for your passion! Merci!
I have changed to a more sheer foundation that leaves a slight dewy finish and a cream blush just for the top of my cheekbones. I have also changed to matte powder eye shadows. I love the products from Elate Beauty as they have very clean ingredients which are healthy for me and there packaging is healthy for the environment.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I’m enjoying your channel and all the tips you share. I admire the class of French women, especially those over 50. I prefer classic styles as well
I used to wear make up (foundation, eye-shadow, mascara & lots of lips & nails) now at 58 I only wear moisturizer & vitamin E & almond oil, a little blush (cream) & eyebrow pencil (applied lightly)& a tiny bit of lip color & my skin is better mow then when I was younger. Skin elasticity is essential to maintain so I don’t stretch my skin & am much gentler. I do exfoliate, use an occasional mask to maintain clean skin & occasionally pluck some tiny hairs. I believe too much makeup ages women. I am often mistaken for being in my forties, I think its the exercise, as I am also a fitness instructor 😁 . I love your videos , thank you.🙏🏽❤️
I'm a singer song writer & have always felt very young for my age, but I've been struggling with my usual make-up the last few years. Thank you for the advice, you are so stylish and eternally beautiful & I'm so glad I found you.
Thank you for sharing the makeup routine. You always look so fresh. Tammy’s Ageless Beauty is another RUclipsr who does good makeup tutorials for women over 50.Really enjoy your videos!
I switched out my makeup this year to Bobbi Brown cosmetics because out of all the brands I have tried, this line looks the best on my mature skin. I’m 53, and I have a minimal makeup routine. I wear a moisturizer mixed with a little foundation, tinted lip balm, taupe cream eyeshadow and 2 coats of mascara. For evening I add a lipstick and blush …that’s it. I love how quickly I can be out the door in the morning these days. I think the most important thing for women over 50 is to have a good moisturizer. If i could only afford 2 things…moisturizer and lipstick are the two beauty items I would buy…if I could afford a 3rd I would buy a mascara :)
I also switched from foundation to tinted moisturizer [Laura Mercier] and changed my black eyeliner for brown or grey. I also need to fill in my eyebrows with pencil which surprised me because they were always so thick! I guess nothing lasts forever, helas. But definitely less makeup with a lighter hand is more flattering after 50 [if not at every age] because you look like a better version of yourself rather than, as you say, "a mask". My skin has become duller with age so I now do a gentle scrub once a week with a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide [ a mix of about 2:1]: it takes off dead skin cells and brightens your complexion without being too harsh.
Eye brow powder or even eyeshadow in the color of your brow is a softer look than a pencil and brows can be brushed and set as well. Brows can get sparse as you age and the hairs can also become sort of unruly.
Love your channel Marie-Anne .. My great great grandmother was from Paris .. I will be sixty in July ..I use browns and copper eye tones .. I dont put mascara on the lower lashes and I don't use pencils for day time .. eyeshadow as liner with a fine brush
I have always used very little makeup. I use avocado oil with a drop of frankincense and lavender oils on my face, eyebrow pencil, mascara, sometimes eyeliner, and lip balm sometimes with lipstick. I'm 51 years old and my skin is in excellent shape!
Bonjour! You are a joy to watch. I have reduced how much makeup I use and applying more the French philosophy way and didn't know it! I also buy more organic. I feel happier and more confident in my own skin doing that. Yes, the eyeslids are changing. Cheeks show bit more tiny veins and uneven color. Pores are more noticeable, so i need to find something to help minimize them. Joys of aging gracefully, ha. Currently using products from Bare Minerals, L'Bri, Burt's Bees, and Almay. Thank you for sharing! 💕
I noticed with my aging that my skin is more normal to dry. Now, I use more of a light texture foundation, but discovered By Terry CC cream. It feels light as serum and when it settles, it appears to blur the pores, but doesn't cover imperfections. It looks natural but a bit better. I like the CC serum also. Surprisingly, I started the "wing" look with my liquid eyeliner and I could skip on shadow, just add mascara. Beautiful video!
I love how natural you are in your videos. I only just found them but I think they may change my life! I am 54 and struggling a bit with all the changes that brings. You are giving me hope that I can still be attractive. Thank you x

I totally agree. As we age less is definitely more. Heavy makeup on aging skin can look garish.
I thought I started looking like a clown in my thirties and stopped using makeup. I then thought I was missing some polish to my look. I like the no makeup look now that I figured it out.
Heavy makeup looks vulgar at any age and makes middleaged women look older
In London I see made up teens/20’s women who look like a mortician made them up for an open casket funeral. It looks eerie and so unappealing. All that heavy contouring!
Having minimal makeup at ANY AGE, means being CONFIDENT in your own skin. Makeup should enhance natural beauty.
Also it is kind of ageist to judge women for wearing makeup in their 50’s. If it makes one feel happier to wear more makeup and to have fun with it, then why not!

Your videos are wonderful. As a women over 60.. I appreciate you so much . I feel hope to still be stylish and happy! Please keep them coming.
Enjoying all your videos. For my “no makeup” makeup look I use BB cream, tinted lip balm, mascara and eye brow pencil. I agree that less is more at any age.
"Different texture" of our skin is so true! Heavy or sparkly makeup makes me look like an unscaled fish.
This whole time watching your channel, I never noticed something until today: you have a lovely, quick sense of humor!
Was it when she called the eyelash curler an instrument of torture? I laughed out loud.
🎄🎄🎄
@ Diana: I so agree; quick and witty! 😊🌹💕
After I moisturise the skin, I use cream versions of all cosmetics to combat the drying of the skin.
I personally don't use powder any more.
Very nice tips.
The biggest makeup change I made recently was I went out and bought a stunning red lipstick after watching your videos.
I did the same!!!
I love all the pink in this scene. Fresh + cheerful.
Yes. It works well.
Enjoying watching the d day landing commemorations this morning in Normandy so moving x
Yay! Always I am so excited to click and watch your latest upload!
Interesting! Ill try it!
Great idea!
Thank you for the minimal make up tips. I like to use a sheer lip color, but I've been told I should add a bit of color. You look beautiful!!
Excellent video Marie-Anne! I love your beautiful pink, black and white backdrop and your new video format. Regarding makeup, I agree that too much is very aging. We have all seen "women
of a certain age" (at least in Canada and the U.S.) wearing mask like foundation that ends at the jawline, powder that accentuates wrinkles and dark lipstick that bleeds into lip lines.
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Hey, my English escapes me sometimes as well LOL! Love your videos!
I follow HotandFlashy. Love it! My father was a frenchman, whom I miss very much. I love hearing your accent.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for your informative information.
It makes me happy watching your videos. I love all the tips because I really appreciate the natural look:)
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I'm not sure I use enough products to do a whole video, but maybe that could work with Instagram. Thank you for the idea!
Love it also
This is a very good video.
To begin with, I brought as little as possible, but the finished result was really pretty and I think I might want to stick to that from now on 🤣😂👏🏻
I agree. I am 30, but I find that a heavy hand with makeup ages me. This makeup look brings out the best in my face without accentuating the flaws
I eschewed make-up altogether. I like the straightforward look of photos from the turn of the 20th century, but also, every time I wore make-up, no matter how light and minimal, I was told I looked like David Bowie.
You don't need expensive makeup to look good.
True, I buy E.L.F. (eyes lips face). It's very inexpensive and I think it is surprisingly good for the cost. Most items can be about $3-4 dollars. They have their own website and are sold in some stores. I don't think I'll find a reason to ever spend more.
Rimmel powder, Maybelline mascara and 2 lipsticks, one red and one pink, both Barry M. That's it. I'm 52.
You don’t need expensive make-up, but a Chanel eye shadow pallet has more pigment and requires less effort. But to each it’s own.
This is a lovely classicly chic French look. Thank you for sharing!
I also think that keeping the hair healthy with conditioner, body, shine, a good style for your face, and you will be beautiful.
I am almost 54 and utilize less make up. I do not wear foundation. You are lovely.❤
I like Urban Decay eyebrow powder and pencils, easy to use and do not smudge!!! With age you need more color so I do use blush to brighten my face!! I love the Dior eyeshadow quads and I have one in navy . Thanks Marie-Anne, another informative video
I love your videos and your makeup look, just iconic! 👌💖
Thank you for making this video. It is helpful and reinforces what I am doing and bew ideas. Please list products. 🌷
At 53, I mix my foundation with a moisturiser. My skin has a lot of texture, but no lines. I try to soften the look
I can also share some company information I have collected - All Cruelty Free: Hourglass (also has vegan and gluten free collections), Too Faced (also has vegan collection), CoverFX (vegan), Gabriel (vegan, gluten free), Marc Jacobs, Ilia, Anytonym, Juice Beauty, Mineral Fusion (most products are vegan), Tatcha, Bite Beauty, Urban Decay (has some vegan products), Dr.
I love your bright beautiful brown eyes Marie-Anne! 🌹

I have to say I use way more makeup than you do because I love makeup and perfumes and because...that's how I roll in this life. I like the simplicity of your style, though. I have been following Hot and Flashy for some years and I like her channel very much. Another great channel and lady I love is Dominique Sachs. I also speak French and I love French culture (my writing is not very good, so I will continue commenting in English).
I tend to use more tinted moisturizer instead of base now.

The Marie-Anne the Vegan part is very good, and you look Fabulous, I cleanse and moisterise well, and wear make-up lightly, enhance my eyes as they are big,but i never over do it, just subtle tones, and highlight top of cheeks, use creamy eye shadows, a bit of bronze at the mo,no mascara, a little bit of pencil end of eyes and a creamy med blush, and Tres bon Xx
less is more wonderful advice as usual. Thinking back it is exactly what our grandmothers always told us. Great advice is timeless.
💖xx
Great video. Good tips even for the gals out there over 70 ( like me!) 😻
My skin has become much more reactive to certain products.
Marie-Anne,good point - prime prime prime. Thanks also for previous advice about laundry. Take care
I will be passing this video onto my mum and aunt! Your makeup always looks fabulous.
Marie-Anne Lecoeur Your welcome! If you haven’t tried the Caviar sticks give them a go!
You remind me so much of a modern, more down to earth Coco Chanel. I just adore your style and simplicity.
🤗
Thank you!
Thank you 👍💞
Too much foundation settles into crevices and makes them more pronounced.
merci Marie-Anne !
All facial skin is bumpier than earlier years. I like the idea of an eye shadow primer to make shadow application easier. Thank you Marie-Ann! 😊
Thanks for including the vegan options! Lovely of you to include that.
Tres chic!
Marie-Anne Lecoeur Oh I wish you were an affiliate. I would buy it. Love navy for summer. Very nice style
Really like your hair that way 😀
I am in my 30s, but I like such tips.
Bonsoir ✨
Thank you for this forum to share.
I watch Fabulous50s as well and I think she IS fabulous. I was just trying to remember her name before I added my comment! Thank you!
Any eyeshadow now makes me look tired but a cream shadow stick makes a lovely eye liner and always red lipstick
Can you tell me what cream shadow stick your use? I have a drawer full and find many of them irritate my eyes.
I love your new hairdo!!! Just beautiful ❤❤
