my opinion: how did this guy not win. or at least get recognition. creamiest soulful feeling. plus he's got the technicle stuff down to. this is a good guy we have. a more eastern looked eric clapton. fantastic player.
One thing i like about him is that he has not put a crap load of distortion in his sounds, its funny how some younger guys have better much better tones then some of the older people playing in these contest...once again love his sound!!! like if you agree!!!
This kid is amazing, the people talking down to him probably won't even make it past their store contest. There is a phrase called "playing with the changes" that they probably haven't mastered or heard of if they can't tell why he is good.
This guy's playing is fantastic! It's so soulful and full of feeling, especially in his opening stuff, I just wish he'd slow down more of his runs so he could really suck all the blues out of each note. I'm sure it'll come with more playing maturity!
im 17 and didn't get to try out, i had several gigs the weekend before and was trying not to fail chemistry. i failed the test i took that day anyway so i regret not doing it. i did at 16 and almost pissed myself but next year i think i'll take my nuts out and just tear it up

i disagree. blues players, even the best, always throw in similar licks, but this kid adds alot to it. His feel is very noteworthy. very talented player.

@BondsMusic he didn't even get to compete in the finals because he was 11 minutes late to check in even though one of the judges was almost an hour late and they didn't even start on time. I know because he is a student of mine and we were ALL devastated. A bunch of people drove up from San Diego to Hollywood and there was a horrible accident on the freeway that made him late. The KOTB officials disqualified him. I'm sure he would've won because I watched the winner at NAMM and there is NO comp
Wow, that's painful. I'm sure he would've swept them off their feet. I suspect there's bigtime politics involved for the organizers for not considering the legitimate reason for his being late. I seen the vid of the winner and man, did it bore me to tears compared to this kids' chops.

I'm really confused by some of these comments. Is he the best blues guitarist ever? No, but this is a guitar center contest and he is good enough to get as far as he got. I'm just trying to figure out why people are judging him as if he won a grammy or something.

It just kind of kills my spirit a little. I play guitar and I've gotten a ton better. I'm 28 and I've been playing for a year now. I just hate the thought that if I made it to the point of having the ability to perform in front of any amount of people that I would be judged as if I am prideful and cocky, when it would really just be that I am enjoying playing music for people's enjoyment.
nope i preffer videos without singing in them, singing unless it's great like bb king jonny lang buddy guy clapton etc kills it. This is a guitar conest not a singing contest

I mean these guys were absolutely amateur crappy but they got through. It seems like the good players are staying away from this competition at least at my local store. if your good you have to be predictable and boring following the status quot. They want nothing new or innovative.

I just watched the other blues master video's with Matt Hines and that Claudio guy doing slow train that bonamassa tune, and this kid blows them out of the water, its funny how the bad blues players get to jam with joe bonamassa, who in the world runs this competition?!?!?! I think this contest is strictly based around sending the talentless to the top
No being a solo artist is fantastic in my opinion like Joe Satriani some people have to have a singer myself I'm a guitar player and enjoy no singing. Its a matter of preference now if the guitar player was boring and wan not able to make the guitar sing then yes a singer would be needed. An example Green Day!!!
fuck i like the chops this kids got, but for me the tone is just a little flat on the second shredding part, it just needed a bit more kick in it but that's just a personal taste maybe a crybaby as well. But like i said that's just a taste difference cause its still good regardless
