  • This afternoon we laid our hands on the first Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid press bike to hit Australian Shores. I caught up with Andrew Clubb, editor of Australian Adventure Bike Magazine, an hour after he picked up the bike from Yamaha HQ.

Also would love to hear if you make setting changes to the suspensions (preload , rebound ...) and to hear what they are , as i have no clue ! Have fun with it !

Great job guys!Love the bike...but I'm done waiting for Yamaha to bring the World Raid. Still a Yamaha fan boy....moving onto what I can get in North America since I'm not going to wait another 1-2years. Pretty much what happened when I was waiting for the original T7...the result was Husky501 which is fantastic ride. Excited to see your test on the bike which of course still makes it really desirable here in the USA. Cheers!

    Nice vid.👍
That over 25% price increase will cause many Americans waiting for WRs to purchase other ADVs.
I got tired of waiting and purchased a DesertX 2.5 months ago, already have nearly 3k miles on it.😊
Got to ride a friend's T7 on the hwy last week (we swapped bikes), Texas hwys are usually moving at over 80 mph.
Felt like I had to wring out the T7 to do things the DesertX performs effortlessly.

Very interesting to see the new Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid. I might wait a few months just to see how they ride and function before looking any further. I currently ride a Yamaha TDM900 Twin (2009) which runs well ...but would like the option of going off road too.

I have had the blue since one year and now at 8000km (I live in Italy), more than half of them off pavement. Cons: top weight, high seat when in difficult situations (even if I am tall 1.88 m). Design Flaws: the scroll wheel got stuck by sand while in Tunisia (unusable, could no longer exclude abs); abs is put back every time you stop the engine (even when using the on-off button), need to stall it in first gear; muffler is tied to the frame: I bought another which goes inside and has not this problem; the yamaha crash bar do not protect the back of the tank; I added crash bars and plate guard, barkbusters, foldable mirrors, excel rims for tubeless tires (imo tubes are too dangerous when riding on pavement), new suspension spring for my weight (I am 120 kg, was bottoming sometimes). So a lot of additional €£$. PROs: superb engine, no fancy electronics (I want a motorbike, not a videogame). Going to use it as a more capable, even if slower, single seat BMW GS Adv for long travels on dirt roads (not true off-road). In summary: a motorbike with a well defined niche of use. Well suited for your roads. Enjoy!!

You can fit a Acerbis 23 liter tank to a standard T7 and its lighter than the stock tank and no wider.
The WR just adds more dry weight to the bike.
It easy and cheap to swap the fork springs on a base T7, it makes a huge difference.
As for ABS, just take the fuse out and forget about it.

Certainly, a double fuel tank and fancier panel would be a big selling point for this model, however with increase in both weight (220kg) and price (25500 AUD) which push it on par with more powerful platforms such as Honda Africa Twin manual (229 kg and 24780 AUD respectively), I doubt slightly if these changes have somehow deviate from its original purpose, an affordable, off-road capable mid-weight adv bike.

You can achieve a larger fuel tank on the T7 by adding the Acerbis tank with the advantage of filling only one tank but not two like on the WR model.
If I recap correctly the 230 mm front travel are 220 in reality. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That price equates to $21,800 Canuck loons. Base models back in 2019 sold for $12,500 here. Granted things have changed & i spent seriously on aftermarket upgrades, but this is getting beyond the “affordable” bracket & heading for the premium one. No worries though, we won’t even get the option here for years anyway.

Used mainly for green lanes (off road), decatted and remapped with high exhaust, mitas 12 and 13 fitted crash bars fitted. The one thing i really liked about tenere was the weight being lighter than the 890 adventure r. This version is unfortunately a bit heavier. Would of liked to see some diet around the bike to keep the weight similar to the other model so you could throw crash bars on without too much consequence.
This bike looks fantastic though and the teneres have the best sound out there.

Hey Clubby and Dave. Great job on the intro. If you push those buttons enough something different is bound to come up. Glad you finally got one. Our European brethren have had these since the getgo. A lot of them have no experience whatsoever on the previous model. My Nordic ADV brothers love them. They ride the heck out of them along with the KTM 890 ADV. I like the fact that the tanks are located under the steering head. I'll deal with the taller suspension and seat deal without worry. My Acerbis tank is right up there as well. In the USA we don't get the ADV bikes like the rest of the world. Even dealers talk the Honda Transalp will be held up longer for here. My Tenere is a 2022 model with Euro 5 emissions so I have equipment to match that for mine. A full Corsa exhaust takes care of that anyway. As long as most of my Ohlins work it will be ok. It maybe 2025 by the time we get them, if then. This is a much different bike environment than the rest of the world. Electric is coming big time. Get out there mates and put some K's down with it. Can't wait to see and hear your perspectives of it. Now the new USA models come wiired for the Quick Shift, big screen like yours. There's a few more insignificant updates but those two are the big ones. Take care, be careful in the Snowy Mtns. Cheers from East Kentucky USA. Land of mountains and high humidity.

Too bad, I cant post or share pics here. But if You look at the front fork for bottoming - keep in mind, 30mm from the bottom is unused by the OEM. so the "travel" actually is a lot less available than You think.
And with optional extras (guards and nav etc) last 3 suspension customers that we had here were well over 230kg bikes.
It is a mild dirtroad cruiser at best.
Top heavy, quite slow (compare it to a 56kw single cil ktm or husky for ex. they weigh 100kg less). And not all that cheap either...

Way too expensive, there are bikes out there more value for money than this model.

Too small, seat is a disaster, suspension is super weak, high centre of gravity, engine is weak/breathless… There is much better options with KTM890, Husky Norden or 850GSA. Aprilia Touareg kills this bike in any aspect

I don't agree with most of is. The seat is fine, The suspension is great, the engine is amazing at low revs and brilliant for off road. The centre of gravity is higher than the the bikes mentioned but handling is excellent. The other bikes mentioned are excellent with some being better value proposition.

@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Every time i use Tenere for longer trips it feels like a moped and i am not even particularly big person (183cm 100kg)… Best Regards
