Own this bike and agree with absolutely everything you said. I also left the fork clickers untouched, raised the preload and comp on the back a little bit and that was it, perfect. Im surprised with the performance of the STR tires, they work better than expected both on and offroad. Personally i run the display on the street settings because you can see more info at the same time and dont have to use the thumb-wheel all that much. As for the range: i ran a streets-only tour from germany to austria last sunday, keeping the speed within the limits to see how far it would go, and i got and average of 3.6L/100km, which gives out a range of 638Km. At first i thought my bike was crazy with those numbers on the display, but to my surprise the numbers checked out when i filled it up at the gas station. To make things even more interesting that ride was performed while the engine was still braking-in, so in theory it should get even better mileage after braking-in. All in all im in love with the bike, worth every penny, wouldnt trade it for anything. And thats coming from a honda-guy...
I'm also in Germany and considering the T7. My only hesitation is the lack of off-road riding here. I'm close to Würzburg and there isn't anything really in my area. I guess most people ride to czech or Poland for off-road?
@@deployeddan Greetings from Brandenburg. There is virtually no legal off-road possible in Germany. The Czech are also pretty strict with their forests. TET Poland is the nearest possibility to go offroading legally. From Würzburg you could also go along the TET Balkans (Slovenia, Croatia etc.) But nothing near you for a quick ride, sorry.
Great review. I have a standard T7 since 2019 with tractive closed cartridges and shock. The stock T7 also has KYB suspension, only it is 20mm piston and way more rudimentary damping. We had the World Raid here in europe for more than a year now and I could test it intensively, suspension is very good stock, 90% of people wont need to modify, I have seen the internals with Kashima coating and pistons are 25mm with double regulation top bottom in each leg. Only negative is that even with lower COG, the bike feels heavier in technical terrain than a standard T7. For me the ideal is the Extreme edition, same suspension than the WR but in standard fuel tank trim.

Weepy eyed American here, definitely lamenting not getting the T7 WR in the states but… the competition of ADVs from $12,000-$17,000usd is incredibly tight. For just the base 2024 Tenere with the updated dash, I was quoted a price within $500usd (an 2-4 month wait) of a negotiated price on an Aprilia Tuareg. Kitting out (suspension, seat, tank) a T7 puts you with in spitting range of a ~$17k Desert X Those are two excellent bikes, for nearly the same price, in the name of Yamaha reliability and dealer network. Ultimately I’m waiting until next season to see how the BMW F900 reviews. Looks to be the perfect mix of both near Japanese reliability and near Italian performance.

Very informative review, as always. Fuel range aside, how do you think this World Raid compares to the Aprilia Tuareg? I suspect the Aprilia would be more nimble and manageble in slow technical trails given the lower weight and seat height, though I haven't tried them first hand.

@11:04 the menu scroll wheel is pushed wrong. You should push upward on the scroll wheel to interact. Not inwards. The microswitch behind the scrollwheel is right under the starter/killswitch. So you have a 50/50% chance to miss the swicth if you push the scrollwheel strait.

You are pressing the tft screen roller button in the wrong direction, and hence why it hurts your finger. It it needs to be pressed more upwards than forwards - it is counter intuitive but works. Not sure why Yamaha would mis-align the button in this way?
Seat height is lower than my raised XT660Z at 905mm. So this would be a treat with lower seat height and center of gravity! Also, I am 2 meters tall so flat footing with a big bend! Nice!

I would like to see a side by side comparison of this to the Aprilia Taureg 660. Not a spec sheet comparison, but an actual ride it on a 2 or 3 day adventure trip type of comparison.
Great show!! You guys are the best! Question about Greg Yager´s bike. What panner racks does he use? I belive he says " Its our own". Cant find it on their website, perhaps it´s special made just for their bikes? Also, what is the bash plate? He says "OS"? Wat is that? :) Thank you in advance. Hope you can answer that. Morning coffee and a MAD vid? Life is good. Would be better if the WR was available here in the US. Installing the DesertX crash bars and waterpump protection bar today. 4.2k miles without a drop so far, no more tempting fate. EDIT; Would be interested in knowing real world wet weight. My DDX is 478 lbs wet, have the cat deleted Termi race exhaust/EVO tune, heavy duty bash plate, bar bag and accessory mount w/Garmin GPS. Removed the rear pegs. I would think the WR is around the same weight. My triple rail trailer would look great heading to Colorado with a pair of white WRs flanking my white DDX. Both of my sons want to see this happen. Yamaha.....make this happen.
I really hope that we will get it in South Africa been asking the dealerships but now word yet. Will stick with my 660z and hopefully we will get it in the next year or so.
Hi Dave! Great review as usual. I'm curious about the pre load on the front forks. Did you make any adjustment or left it as is. I'd like education re fork pre load as I understand the rear OK, but not too sure re front fork and how to set up. Keep up the great videos! 👍😁

I saw a video of a French guy, 'La Vadrouille' (The Mop), on a World Raid in West Africa and the cross-rut handling on a muddy road was quite good - IMO. Otherwise, he mimicked some of the route done earlier by another French guy, 'Lolo Cochet', on the standard version (Ohlins shock). Anecdotally, the T7 has proven itself durable in deep sand and mud.
Great content as always. Quick question - you mentioned you run different pressures on the really rocky stuff. What would you suggest for a standard T7 on such terrain? Thanks 😊
The only thing I would ask for is apple + android car play. So every time I get off the bike I don’t have to push my kit into my pockets then put it back on when I come back out the shop. My reason is Adventure bikes air long distance and tall folk so just to have NAV at your fingertips is so helpful. I agree with the bolt what you want thing but phone on handle bars is just not for me. Even if it was and optional extra to have NAV built in I would buy. I didn’t quite catch the reason you put the bike back to stock hight and what’s your opinion on the new lowered explore version.
American here and I appreciate the video! I've been waiting for this to hit our shores for some time. I may have missed it but what USD $ price point will this be offered at in the states?
Great vid and agree with all. Extremely happy with my world raid so far. Would only recommend a tyre upgrade from standard for dirt running but standard tyres are great for the black stuff. Question - can you show how you mounted the giant loop soft luggage on bike without racks please.
Pirelli Rallys would make all the difference. to mount the Giant Loop soft luggage is used a proghorn strap around the back guard behind the seat and taped everything up to prevent any abrasions.
Hi Dave 👋 is it as good as the 701 tho,coz I rapped my tenere round five trees ,well I think it was five ,I was knocked out cold ( rag doll ) my 701 seems to handle and turn quicker .
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I'd have a hard time not picking the 890R then. I'd rather have the extra HP and lower lower weight balance of the 890R
there is an excellent kit that sorts the exhaust routing proper, it is about 600 GBp, it has a replacement can and connecting pipe - channel in bulgaria did a demo of it, 'motorcycle adventure' or something he is called and has had T7 forever

19 kg of luggage but you didn’t mention your weight. Would like to know the total weight the bike was carrying so I can calculate if I would need an aftermarket rear shock. Cheers Dave. Great video and info 👍
Fantastic bike. I got all excited. Then I looked at the price tag. The are out the door for around 26k that's more than the new Ducati desert X. Mmmmm not as excited anyone. I think originally when the t7 cam out it was about 17k. The extra refinements come in as being very expensive. Is it really worth it?
Hey man, Genuine question from an amateur rider. I am 5.10 ft at height , am i tall enough for this? What is your height? Does it still feel top heavy ? Thanks in advance.
I don't know your skill level. Picking a tall bike for your first can be problematic. You need to go into a shop and sit on one at the very least if not test ride one.
I tried that on a tdm. Shoockingly better than you might imagine! I loved my 750 Africa twin too but some s#!te bags in Paris seemed to like it even more. Took it in a van from the hotel car park. The French police said and I quote " that's a shame"
I wonder if the aussie bike has different setup from factory than the EU bikes. For our measurements have shown that the nrs are exactly as soft as for the regular t7. so basically anybody who knows how to ride and weighs more than 75kg, will need to upgrade rear spring and damping control. also - the bottom-out is far sooner than people think. And then there is the weight. With the regular t7 and 25l safari tank one gets away with about 210kg. With this and crash bars etc - we see them starting at 230++kg and that weight is sitting really high. It is capable of being comfy and well tractable, but it should be lighter considerably, to be "competitive". But then again, it is a lot cheaper than competition. at least in europe.
Really wanting to move from my 1250GSA to a middleweight ADV bike soon. Wishing we had these in the US. May have to go 890R or Norden Expedition if one of those show up near by.
So Dave, are you going to upgrade the Tenere you own to the World Raid? It seems to me you have paid the price to upgrade your Tenere. Does the shiny new bike tempt you?
It reminds me of a ktm 1090 Adv R with less power and a tad more fuel range. Love the twin fuel tank ktm 990 Dakar look and thats its finally got the suspension it needed out of the box. Lets not talk about the price.
I'm thinking on getting a World Rally, not the most experient of riders to be honest, actually a newbie of sorts, amd my question is if you think if it would be better to lower the bike or to just suck it up, tip toe along, and hope for the best 😂...
And yet dealers/salesman in the US keep saying the World Raid isn't coming here. I heard it just yesterday, though that may have had something to do with the 890AdvR and T700 on the floor they were trying to sell me...
dave... i was just thinkin... you should do a video on you warehouse, and compare in a walk through, all of your bikes, your a bit like the jay lenno of bikes.... and the brands just throw more at you..... then!!! i was watching "the apprentice adventurer" on his dog rooter, on a big trip... this guy is not your average bloke, hes actually one of those little shining lights within humanity, lighting the way for others. through his attitude and approach to life. hes a real champ... so the dog rooter is now rooted, and him and his mate towed it 150kms, shes fucked..... and im saying.... you cant ride all your bikes anymore, theres too manny. reach out to this lad and give him a bike. you diont hand out your treasures to every poor bastard with a broken bike, i realise that... but this ones worth it.
Loved the video boys "I can't touch with both feet on the ground on tippy toes" yes BUT what height are you???? this was always the biggest error in motorcycle reviews! so again great film but let us know your/their height. Cheers
I'm about 6 foot and I'm in my tip toes on a world raid , way to tall for me, my desert x is about a inch lower for me , the suspension on the WR is still to soft for me,they been in the UK for ages , there a new one coming for 2024 😂
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV the extreme version is just a WR with a high mudguard and a option for a quick shifter and the e explorer ,they avaliable in the uk next year and this month the bew colours september/ October, then the basic tenere with optional quick shifter and couple new colours so I've read...why they haven't bumped up the engine to 900cc is baffling , the new f900gs bmw will be putting a nail in the coffin to the new models as the bmw is only couple hundred more in price and alot better electronics package and brakes and 195 bhp and looks real nice similar to the aprillia tuareg

So…just watched the show and am so excited to get my hands on one…I’m here in Canada where I’ll have to put my excitement into the future. I have a 21 T7 and absolutely love it….so much so my 23 Norden 901 sits idle and lonely. I’ll need to sell it because my bias is always towards the T7….just came back from a 4,000km dirt adventure. Why can’t I adapt to the 901….I feel like there’s just something missing….can’t put my finger on it but I’ve tried….I’ll be patient and wait for the new World Raid.
Thanks Mate….
Allan
Wirth the wait......unless you can't wait :)
I would like to see a side by side comparison of this to the Aprilia Taureg 660. Not a spec sheet comparison, but an actual ride it on a 2 or 3 day adventure trip type of comparison.
It won't happen here, we have too much to do, But we have a thorough review of both bikes.
Tobias, Sweden
Great stuff fellas 😎
Glad you enjoyed it
Morning coffee and a MAD vid?
Life is good.
Would be better if the WR was available here in the US.
Installing the DesertX crash bars and waterpump protection bar today.
4.2k miles without a drop so far, no more tempting fate.
EDIT;
Would be interested in knowing real world wet weight.
Don't know. But putting crash bars on that Desert X is crucial! It's a great ride.
I really hope that we will get it in South Africa been asking the dealerships but now word yet. Will stick with my 660z and hopefully we will get it in the next year or so.
I hope it gets there
Love the vids keep them coming! :)
Thanks
Fantastic review guys! Wait, is it cruise control buttons on the left side?
No
My backyard… great part of the world for adventure!! 👌🏻
Sure is
Hi Dave! Great review as usual. I'm curious about the pre load on the front forks. Did you make any adjustment or left it as is. I'd like education re fork pre load as I understand the rear OK, but not too sure re front fork and how to set up. Keep up the great videos! 👍😁
Yeah, didn't touch it at all.
It needs a adjustable front mud guard.
Great reviews an should be called “ test of truth”!!❤❤
Great job guys.🙏🙏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧💎💎
Thank you

I saw a video of a French guy, 'La Vadrouille' (The Mop), on a World Raid in West Africa and the cross-rut handling on a muddy road was quite good - IMO. Otherwise, he mimicked some of the route done earlier by another French guy, 'Lolo Cochet', on the standard version (Ohlins shock). Anecdotally, the T7 has proven itself durable in deep sand and mud.
Thanks Chris
Great content as always. Quick question - you mentioned you run different pressures on the really rocky stuff. What would you suggest for a standard T7 on such terrain? Thanks 😊
Around 23 psi although I generally run 19,5
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV thank you very much. Love your channel by the way. Fantastic content. 😊
Good points.
American here and I appreciate the video! I've been waiting for this to hit our shores for some time. I may have missed it but what USD $ price point will this be offered at in the states?
No idea. In Aus $25 K, but I caution there are price variations.
701 does by miles.
How much more does it cost? Comparable in price to a KTM 890R?
Same Same
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I'd have a hard time not picking the 890R then.
It was in this video towards the end.
Excellent video as per usual. I’m very impressed with that new T-7. Yet I’m inextricably married to my Tiger 800. Well and truly done guys. BTW you 2 blokes have got the worlds best job EVER!!!!! P.S. not funny saying in America we spend rubles 🤬.
Ha ha Rubles, look at my face when I say it :)
Hope the workshop manual has a step by step guide where to find the clitters.
Jeez I couldn't believe I said that.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Freudian slip.
Does it have up and down qs? Cruise control?
nope
19 kg of luggage but you didn’t mention your weight. Would like to know the total weight the bike was carrying so I can calculate if I would need an aftermarket rear shock. Cheers Dave. Great video and info 👍
I was 94 kg then
“Americans weep” We got a little choked up 😂 but they’ll be in the states eventually.
My advice, keep saving!
It Will be my bike número 3!! In my garage!! Surelly !
How come you didn’t built your own? What is stopping you cowboys to steal that engine too?
@@9W8o7l7f4 wtf are you talking about? Are you actually trying to bring politics into this? Get a life.
Great to see you Dave so happy the world raid T7. Are you tempted to trade your T7 for this?
Yes
Cruise control and tubeless is all it needs and it would be my unicorn.
Yes cruise control would be good. Tubeless I'm not so sure.
I have a standard one. I think so.
No talk about the weight? It reminds me of my 2016 AT, but with better suspension and less horsepower. I’d love to demo one.
Forgot, sorry.
If they fitted "clitters" most blokes wouldn't be able to find them.
In fact, they may actually have done so, but you guys just couldn't locate them.
ha ha :)
3:00 how tall are you sir? guessing 5'10 - 6 ft?
178cm 5 ft 10 ins.
I tried that on a tdm. Shoockingly better than you might imagine! I loved my 750 Africa twin too but some s#!te bags in Paris seemed to like it even more. Took it in a van from the hotel car park. The French police said and I quote " that's a shame"
Sorry to hear that.
Thanks
Really wanting to move from my 1250GSA to a middleweight ADV bike soon. Wishing we had these in the US. May have to go 890R or Norden Expedition if one of those show up near by.
You should test ride an Aprilia Taureg 660.
Agree
Or an Aprillia?
Only one dealer near me and they offered me pennies for my 1250GSA to trade for a taureg.
@@brandonrides8953 Most dealers are offering 50% of book value on trades. Sell it to a private party.
So Dave, are you going to upgrade the Tenere you own to the World Raid? It seems to me you have paid the price to upgrade your Tenere. Does the shiny new bike tempt you?
A little temptation but not quite enough.
It reminds me of a ktm 1090 Adv R with less power and a tad more fuel range. Love the twin fuel tank ktm 990 Dakar look and thats its finally got the suspension it needed out of the box. Lets not talk about the price.
Good points
Thank you for a very informative review. Fingers crossed that we here in the USA will get the World Raid in 2025. Yamaha? #Yamaha @yamaha
I'm thinking on getting a World Rally, not the most experient of riders to be honest, actually a newbie of sorts, amd my question is if you think if it would be better to lower the bike or to just suck it up, tip toe along, and hope for the best 😂...
if you're riding in the dirt and you are new to riding and. you're not 6 ft I think you'll have occasional challenges.
That fuel economy is great considering 13L on a 400 cc will only deliver 200 mile range.
agree
What area in Oz is this mate
Central Coast
And yet dealers/salesman in the US keep saying the World Raid isn't coming here. I heard it just yesterday, though that may have had something to do with the 890AdvR and T700 on the floor they were trying to sell me...
Exactly.
Hope these come to Canada.
I'm not sure they do but keep hoping as they are a joy to ride.
Good fun!
It was!
Are you suggesting you've received confirmation from Yamaha that this beautiful beast is eventually coming to America or just a guess?
They're barely bringing in any base models, these will be a wet dream if they do eventually show up here
Highly possible but a delay due to import challenges.
Nice!
Thanks!
Can u post that form up ur page for us world raid owners thanks guys
Stand by, I'll see what I can do.
Need this bike available in Canada
You're lucky.
dave... i was just thinkin... you should do a video on you warehouse, and compare in a walk through, all of your bikes, your a bit like the jay lenno of bikes.... and the brands just throw more at you.....
then!!! i was watching "the apprentice adventurer" on his dog rooter, on a big trip... this guy is not your average bloke, hes actually one of those little shining lights within humanity, lighting the way for others. through his attitude and approach to life. hes a real champ...
so the dog rooter is now rooted, and him and his mate towed it 150kms, shes fucked..... and im saying.... you cant ride all your bikes anymore, theres too manny.
reach out to this lad and give him a bike.
you diont hand out your treasures to every poor bastard with a broken bike, i realise that... but this ones worth it.
Keep thinkin.
Loved the video boys "I can't touch with both feet on the ground on tippy toes" yes BUT what height are you???? this was always the biggest error in motorcycle reviews! so again great film but let us know your/their height. Cheers
I'm about 6 foot and I'm in my tip toes on a world raid , way to tall for me, my desert x is about a inch lower for me , the suspension on the WR is still to soft for me,they been in the UK for ages , there a new one coming for 2024 😂
A few different models actually.
I want the 700 Extreme in the USA. WHY CANT I HAVE IT?
Tissues? :)
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Send a huge box please!

No cruise. No tubeless ? What a wasted opportunity for an almost perfect bike.
Jury is out for tubeless in Australia. It's about a 40/60 split. Agree on the cruise.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV But you can tube a tubeless tire if you need to. But you can’t plug a tube if you want to. Or am I missing something here ?
It's still a cable throttle, right? Isn't that why there's no cruise?
What’s the name of the guy with pimped grey beard and pimped tenere? Can you show us his shop on google maps?
Greg Yager of rideadv.com.au. - look it up.
Dave ,Ducati desert X or tenere raid
