I know I've said it before but _God, Josh, your VOCALS._ The Hollow Knight's insanely tragic writing coupled with the emotional performance really sell this track And can we talk about that second half? I don't think the Hollow Knight has ever been written so desperate. The intense desire for external validation by the Hollow Knight fits so well that I'm surprised it hasn't been done before, but god you guys pulled it off perfectly. The lyrics hit so fucking hard and genuinely feel like something right out of the game proper, fitting the situation and lore perfectly. I've never heard of the Symphony of Hallownest before I came across this, but holy shit, I love this interpretation of HK. Their entire existence was based on the concept of being the kingdom's saviour, and as that ideal starts to crack, *literally,* they look up and see their replacement walk through the door. That would r u i n somebody, especially someone who was held as THE end of the conflict. All this pain, just a little longer, so they won't have to... but then... why is there another?
Certainly didn't have a voice to cry suffering after recording that scream... (I promise this is a joke. I practice safe vocal methods and know my limits. Don't ruin your throat for an internet video, kids)
Damn, this version SLAPS. "Were you filled with that much envy?" the whole first segment is great tbh. But if I can point something that I really didn't like it's the "let me excavate my pain" followed by "will my memory fade?". It's so jarring to hear, probably because of the syllable count (idk I'm not that knowledgeable about music) other then that it's great in my opinion (also small nitpick, the line "freed me from my binds?" sounds kinda random in that part lol)
