This girl is awesome and amazing There are bassists with 40 year careers that cannot play this well Not even close. Very very talented keep up the fantastic playing love it
Holy moly Julia, I very rarely comment on stuff but I take all of my hats off to you (I have a lot of hats BTW), it was Mr Z who got me into playing bass & I used to think I could do that song (ish) but I now realise the second half is a lot more complex (I couldn't remember all of that) I tend to play the same groove round & round with a couple of fills. I am genuinely amazed that you are so good, at such a young age & self taught, you've made me re-evaluate & I realise I need to find some practice time (a lot). Keep Grooving
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant. What an awesome track to play, and you handled those bloody awkward 'change-ups' perfectly. That bass line in parts is so complex, and you nailed it throughout. Excellent play young lady, Stuart Zender's got genuine competition now, lol.
You are the only young person that has used the internet to its fullest capability by studying the world's best bass players different styles. It has allowed your aptitude in music to advance at an accelerated pace. Most child prodigies plateau at a young age. Your playing has kept improving.
Well said, I totally agree! It is wonderful to see what happens when somebody with such talent puts equally as much effort in it. I am sure we will hear lots more from Julia in the future. Best regards.
15 thumbs down at the time of my viewing. Why on earth would you feel compelled to downvote a video like this? How could it possibly offend anyone? It’s just a girl playing a bass 🤷♂️ very well I might add.
Wow! I think that this is better than the original. I especially like the little intro to the second part, at 2:44 Watching you play brings tears to the eyes of this 63 year old guy here. All the best!
Altair, you're not alone. I'm a 60 year old guy and listening to this young woman perform brings tears to my eyes. Julia, thru her bass, just becomes part of the music. There are a lot of good bass players out there but not many have the gift/feel of letting the music flow out thru them and in to their playing. You can't teach that. I listen to songs on this channel that Julia has covered(covered almost sounds like an insult), that I other wise would not listen to just to hear her magic.
The whole piece is phenomenal, but especially the embellishments between 3:40 to 4:53 - absolutely exquisite dexterity in both hands! So well articulated, clear, punchy! You really are a joy to listen to. Marvellous artistry, Julia - bravo!
Just spectacular .... I also play bass, but you at your young age are an eminence .... I congratulate you and still delighting us with your art .... Greetings from Santiago de Chile
Been playing since 1985 or so. If you could do this within just three years of picking up the instrument you are gifted. Hope you are still carrying on man that's sweet bass. I definitely think it outshines the original. I do realize the post is from 2016
You are awesome! Keep posting videos! My favorite part is watching how much you are enjoying playing. Your skill is top notch, but that you're having fun, that's what makes it so great!
These videos are very informative .... I don't even play bass but I can watch and see how some bass effects are achieved with fret movements. This is because of the very articulate playing technique used. Thanks.
Shes already 10 times better than carol Kaye! This lil girl would play circles around that old ass style Carol Kaye had, and I say that as a bassist myself!
If yall noticed, she has the same gift Stanley Clark has: extremely large hands, especially for a girl, a young girl, this contributes to her ability to do 5-7 fret distances in one position! Definitely born to play bass, no doubt about it, Hendrix hand extremely large hands and was self taught too!
Just discovered this young lady. I love that I can see this is a transition period from amazingly accurate reproductions to amazingly funky performances. It would be a true tragedy if she didn't end up playing professionally.
You are really amazing!! I´m a huge fan of red hot chili peppers since 1999 and watching you play their songs it´s refreshing. Congrats from Guatemala City in Central America. Of course this is from Jamiroquai i know!
Self taught? Are you fucking kidding me? WOW! The thing about this that most impresses me is how the music simply flows THROUGH her to her fingers and out through the bass. THAT cannot be taught. Absolutely effortless. I am stunned.
hello, Julia. I'm also a self taught bass player with 10+ yars of playing experience. plus I too have such black musicman sub bass - with rosewood fretboard and metallic pickguard though. Keep on playing and never stop ^_^
Julia, this is one of my favourite track of “old school” Jamiroquai (the “new” I don’t like so much...😜) but for me your bass line is better then the Stuart’s! You are so amazing, flawless and you have a great taste in music! Many greetings from Italy! 😋

Yep I'm one of them. 35yrs experience and only this year cracked this song but with my abilities maxed out and only on a good day.

I have to imagine that the six people giving the thumbs down are hard of hearing or jealous, you're great.
Simply Dyslexic Jamaicans saying Dis I Like easy mistake
RC Car Club I got it after the second read - lol. Being from the Caribbean has ya defensive af. This is classic and unforgettably good. Lol

@@bassguitarriff1651 63 year old names himself after a video game character. Pretty legit.
Seeing a 63 year old using Internet and being able to indicate the time on RUclips brings tears to all of us' eyes.
Altair age it’s just a number 😃
Adan Gochez , it's not. There's a lot of pesticides in food and chemicals in medicines, and that slowly fvcks you up.
You must have been playing longer than your 16 years. Your feel for the bass is so intuitive. Absolutely incredible!
Geniuses are not just meant to be scientists but also great bass players too...here is one budding genius ! Way to go girl !!
This is not teachable stuff,, this is magic and unicorns.
Respect. That's a masterpiece.

Too much! I've played this cut myself (love Jamiroquai / Stuart Zender) but I don't think I've ever had it this smooth and solid. This cat can play!
Just spectacular .... I also play bass, but you at your young age are an eminence .... I congratulate you and still delighting us with your art .... Greetings from Santiago de Chile
the economy of motion is something else. I can´t stop watching.

That left hand screaming around like a rock spider. Love your work
You have fingers of pure gold
Julia nails it over and over again 🤩

I didn't know this song until I saw your video and now is one of my favorite jams! thank you for your great vibe!!
I'm going to get that song after hearing her play it
These videos are very informative .... I don't even play bass but I can watch and see how some bass effects are achieved with fret movements. This is because of the very articulate playing technique used. Thanks.
Damn, only 16 and you've got great technique! Those ghost notes can't be easy. Fantastic cover! Who knows, maybe we're seeing the next Carol Kaye? :p
Doctah J Carol Kaye, session bass legend. Jazz, Pop, Motown etc. Good shout.
Shes already 10 times better than carol Kaye! This lil girl would play circles around that old ass style Carol Kaye had, and I say that as a bassist myself!

This is awesome. Capturing Stuart Zender's groove and played superbly. You're going to go far Julia. :)
Julia’s bio says she’s 22 yrs old and this song says 6y ago, so she’s playing chord changes like this at 16. Incredible !
absolute insanity
You could tour with these guys. Bassists need groove built into them ---and guess what;;;;YOU GOT IT in SPADES!
Julia you are a genius. I can see your soul in your body. It's gorgeous!

Zender was a genius. Listen to that chorus - so much to it and every piece fits.
Alberto Nino nick van gelder wrote the baseline. No doubt Zender sprinkled some magic on it though
You are amazing, that's all there is to it. Thank for sharing your gift.
I just started listening to your channel, and yes you do!
Wow! 👏👏👏👏👏👏zender wasnt normal coming up with this. And you aren’t also! Both amazing!❤️❤️❤️
Amazing bass line, perfectly performed. Liked it very much, thank you.
Superb bass groove written by Nick Van Gelder. Performed brilliantly young lady. Keep up the great work
Just discovered this young lady. I love that I can see this is a transition period from amazingly accurate reproductions to amazingly funky performances. It would be a true tragedy if she didn't end up playing professionally.
Stu Zender would be really proud of you ! Perfect ! 🌟
You are really amazing!! I´m a huge fan of red hot chili peppers since 1999 and watching you play their songs it´s refreshing. Congrats from Guatemala City in Central America. Of course this is from Jamiroquai i know!
Have no words..Julia you are the TOP!
Extracting the bass line from Jamiroquai and writing it down in a score is indeed difficult in itself.... And you play it like Zender!
Nailed it lick for lick too! Omg. 🔥💯
Great great Job. It's an physical bass line.
I'm 33, and you play every bass line I laerned when i was 20. Stuart rules!! ;)

Self taught? Are you fucking kidding me? WOW! The thing about this that most impresses me is how the music simply flows THROUGH her to her fingers and out through the bass. THAT cannot be taught. Absolutely effortless. I am stunned.
Love you princess Julia , keep on rocking !!!!!!
