      @@ThisBytesForYou something I run into a lot is when I need a usb 2.0 to usb 3.2 front panel usb adapter. You'd think it would be simple to find such an adapter since it's so common to have a compatibility issue with mid range boards and higher end cases? If I may suggest, if you haven't already made such a video covering where a person can find the correct adapter and what they look like and so on, it would be nice to have your level of attention to detail covering that topic.

      @@ThisBytesForYou like when you use a cheap motherboard under $600 they usually come with 3 usb 2.0 and 1 usb 3.2 gen2 front panel connector and if you use a case like the lian li 011 dynamic that needs 2x 3.2 gen1 and 1x 3.2 gen 2 front panel connector for full connectivity then you need a usb 3.2 gen1 20 pin male to usb 2.0 9 pin female adapter to power the other front panel usb's. When I was first building as a beginner this little cable took me a lot of research to figure out where to buy it and which one to buy. It would be useful if you made a video on how it looks and where to get them. The cables are like $6 and will save someone $300 or more if they can get a $230 board vs a $600-$800 board. Here are a few examples of the boards I was considering that would need the adapter. Asus prime-A z690 and z790, the asus rog strix-A, F and also E z690 and z790 all require 1 usb 2.0 to 3.2 adapter and the same is true with the cheaper msi, gigabyte and asrock boards from what I gathered trying to pair the boards to the lian li case. The boards that work out of the box without that adapter where the higher cost boards like the asus rog maximus z690-z790 and the asus formula z690. It seems one has to pay $300 more for a board that has 2x usb 3.2 gen1 and 1x usb 3.2 gen2 without using an adapter.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  Год назад +1

      @@Rzn8B58 well, it doesn't mean its cheap, just what they decided, so yeah you will need an adapter like this from my amazon affiliate store, I have them and use them often actually: geni.us/HPboU
      I have some Z690 boards that only come with 1 usb 3.2/usb 3.0 header so it's not too common just yet, maybe one day hahah. Some may also chose to work on higher end components on the other end of the board, maybe skipping off of these, like EVGA, those are expensive amazing quality boards but they focus on other aspects, rather than USB.

    Good instruction video. I'm upgrading my pc from a previous build. I couldn't find the rest cable sw cable or usb cables in the case, seems I don't have it. But I have plugged in usb stick in the front before. Also nice to see I got the rest set up the right way like the power and hdd led to the pins.

    Great video. Did you ever try not connecting any power, reset or LED connections and start the system with a keyboard command (with bios settings) - to get rid of all these cables while making a super clean build? Or if these are obligatory to install even though you are forcing a start with a keyboard shortcut?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  Год назад +1

      I haven't sidce that is such a small portion, and not sure it would work. Not connecting the cable will get rid of the physical reset, power LED and hd activity LED, plus get rid of the physical power button and then your machines will have buttons and LED's that do nothing. You can get away with potentially waking from Sleep in the BIOS with the keyboard and maybe the power button, maybe but the others wouldn't work. Thanks so much for your kind words and support my friend, they mean a ton to me.

The question here is, can I use the computer for simple things, or should I wait for the new motherboard and does (ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero) support this processor or not? Please help.

If it does not reset, flip the header, then try again. Plugged in incorrectly will not mess anything up, no worries my friend ;)

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  2 года назад +1

      so that means it is polarized, meaning you have to plug the + into the + end on the board, if you plug it in backwards it wont hurt it, it just wont function until you plug it in write. It sounds like its the HD activity light but... I have no idea. On your case, where is the connection coming from? Follow the portion in this video where I talk about the HDD activity light, yes, it would be the same thing for an SSD.

      It doesn't look like it has a hard drive/ssd activity light, not really a big deal as it tells you if your system is accessing the storage, most never look at it. Not all cases have all the connectors I show you, but I try to make it as complete as possible, I hope you enjoyed it my friend.

    This is by far the hardest part in building a pc. Why do they make them so small and so close together? Should be color coated where each cable is a unique color.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  Год назад +1

      At first yeah it's rough but once you have done it enough times you know one of 2 things, look at the manual or the silk screening and you got it. As for a standard, you have to get case manufacturers and board manufactures together and it also cost more money that we would have to pay more. Also, it has to be that all because each piece that it it connects to connects through a wire (thinner than a hair) through several layers of pcb and through so many other pieces of circuitry and numerous other things that they want to keep it tiny. Even the location of this collection of headers is different from board to board along with each form factor... It's a huge challenge.

Can't get to the screws to mount inside the case (after removing fans etc) because the only cooler that wasn't too tall for the case covers two of the case holes and the power supply came DOA. Used to be able to buy those old tin PSU's in the 90's for nothing and they'd last a decade but it seems these new ones aren't up to par. Anyway, have to send that back and I think I'll get a name brand, maybe a 550 board and an open rack mount so I can get to everything.
