@@ThisBytesForYou something I run into a lot is when I need a usb 2.0 to usb 3.2 front panel usb adapter. You'd think it would be simple to find such an adapter since it's so common to have a compatibility issue with mid range boards and higher end cases? If I may suggest, if you haven't already made such a video covering where a person can find the correct adapter and what they look like and so on, it would be nice to have your level of attention to detail covering that topic.
what, can you tell me again what it is you need? I don't understand?
@@ThisBytesForYou like when you use a cheap motherboard under $600 they usually come with 3 usb 2.0 and 1 usb 3.2 gen2 front panel connector and if you use a case like the lian li 011 dynamic that needs 2x 3.2 gen1 and 1x 3.2 gen 2 front panel connector for full connectivity then you need a usb 3.2 gen1 20 pin male to usb 2.0 9 pin female adapter to power the other front panel usb's. When I was first building as a beginner this little cable took me a lot of research to figure out where to buy it and which one to buy. It would be useful if you made a video on how it looks and where to get them. The cables are like $6 and will save someone $300 or more if they can get a $230 board vs a $600-$800 board. Here are a few examples of the boards I was considering that would need the adapter. Asus prime-A z690 and z790, the asus rog strix-A, F and also E z690 and z790 all require 1 usb 2.0 to 3.2 adapter and the same is true with the cheaper msi, gigabyte and asrock boards from what I gathered trying to pair the boards to the lian li case. The boards that work out of the box without that adapter where the higher cost boards like the asus rog maximus z690-z790 and the asus formula z690. It seems one has to pay $300 more for a board that has 2x usb 3.2 gen1 and 1x usb 3.2 gen2 without using an adapter.
@@Rzn8B58 well, it doesn't mean its cheap, just what they decided, so yeah you will need an adapter like this from my amazon affiliate store, I have them and use them often actually: geni.us/HPboU
I have some Z690 boards that only come with 1 usb 3.2/usb 3.0 header so it's not too common just yet, maybe one day hahah. Some may also chose to work on higher end components on the other end of the board, maybe skipping off of these, like EVGA, those are expensive amazing quality boards but they focus on other aspects, rather than USB.
Thank you, this saved me hours of searching online.

Great video. Did you ever try not connecting any power, reset or LED connections and start the system with a keyboard command (with bios settings) - to get rid of all these cables while making a super clean build? Or if these are obligatory to install even though you are forcing a start with a keyboard shortcut?
I haven't sidce that is such a small portion, and not sure it would work. Not connecting the cable will get rid of the physical reset, power LED and hd activity LED, plus get rid of the physical power button and then your machines will have buttons and LED's that do nothing. You can get away with potentially waking from Sleep in the BIOS with the keyboard and maybe the power button, maybe but the others wouldn't work. Thanks so much for your kind words and support my friend, they mean a ton to me.

it doesn't look like it has a power led, but it has something tied to RGB for the power led. Checking on the specs page for the case, it does not have Power LED's.

Thanks for the video. Question I just ran into.. I have the exact same HD audio 9pin you have but the motherboard im putting in (Crosshair Viii extreme) has an 11pin. Is there an adapter I need that I just cant seem to find? Can I plug in the 9pin and use the same dead spot as the 11pin? Or is there something else I need to do?
on your board, in the same place, (bottom left hand corner) you have the that port, with a few extra pins as can be seen on your manual, it will still work, you just need to move it over a row, thankfully that missing pin shows you where you can install it. I hope that helps. So yeah, you can install it there and always a pleasure my friend.

Hello boss! I have a problem that I think is big. When I wanted to build my first computer, I consulted the pcpartpicker , everything was fine .I choose motherboard ASUS ROG Strix B550-E Gaming with a compatible processor, but the processor was long time to arrive, so I decided to change it to a higher processor Ryzen 9 5950x then I built the computer and started working on Adobe after effect I noticed a slow in Executing tasks, so I thought that the processor is strong and the graphics card may be weak, which is rtx 3060 xc, so I searched again the pcpartpicker and discovered that the motherboard not support this processor, so I closed the device for fear of the processor and I will have to buy another board. The question here is, can I use the computer for simple things, or should I wait for the new motherboard and does (ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero) support this processor or not? Please help.
that board does support the 5950, you can see it herE: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-e-gaming-model/helpdesk_cpu just make sure you have the latest BIOS, what may be happening is that that processor is HOT, what are you using it to cool it?
That beep change lives! Do you know if the rog strix B-570 E has it?
can you please explain to me what it is you have an are trying to remove or add, I am confused.
@@ThisBytesForYou I was wondering if the strix x-570 E has the motherboard speaker included on the box or I need to buy it separately
I can't really tell if it does, but you can find them here on my amazon affiliate link: geni.us/yA0pbH, you can find the pins on page 1-17: dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING/E15826_ROG_STRIX_X570-E_GAMING_UM_v2_WEB.pdf
the manual does not show it has one though, so you will need to buy one.

My case came with 6 rgb led fans where could I connect the led switch cable ?
What is the manufacturer and model number of the case?
The LED+ and LED- as well as the reset and switch two pin connectors give us which is the positive and negative but the motherboard especially the new ASUS, neither the manual nor the motherboard show which are plus and which are minus. The board just says "pin1". Not sure what to do. The board is the new and expensive ROG MAXIMUM Z690 APEX.
The good thing is that whether you have it flipped or not, it will not mess anything up, it just wont reset, so they way to test it (because they have not always been silk screened) is to just get into windows, then press the reset button. If it does not reset, flip the header, then try again. Plugged in incorrectly will not mess anything up, no worries my friend ;)

For some reason I plugged all these in how you showed me and it keeps on showing a red blink when I press my power button and not coming on
Red blinking light is hdd activity, maybe you should watch thai video where I show you how to build and cable manage a PC ruclips.net/video/8I4e6sw0meo/видео.html
The bytes for you can you help me I just build my first pc and it won’t turn on
Not turning on, usually means you have the front panel power button connected incorrectly to the motherboard or you don't have the atx 24 pin connected or the 8pin eps CPU power connector, maybe the power supply switch hasn't been flicked on.
what if my hdd_led doesnt tell me its positive or negative? im still confused and lost. Idk which way and on top of that i have one that says pwrsw. It doesnt tell me which is ground and the power switch. Its so confusing
Dont worry, try it one way, and if it doesn't work, flip it, it won't kill it.
I have the led and switch cable connect in the correct spot, but I’m not sure where the other end of the wire goes. Building my first pc and need some help. Thanks
Did you watch the video? That may answer your question because I dont know which cable you are talking about
I watch but it never showed the other end. It it the cable with the + and - symbols on the small part that connects to the motherboard
so that means it is polarized, meaning you have to plug the + into the + end on the board, if you plug it in backwards it wont hurt it, it just wont function until you plug it in write. It sounds like its the HD activity light but... I have no idea. On your case, where is the connection coming from? Follow the portion in this video where I talk about the HDD activity light, yes, it would be the same thing for an SSD.
Do you have discord so I can send you a picture?
iggy@thisbytesforyou.com
I’m not sure why Corsair in the 6500x doesn’t have the HDD pin in the adapter.
I know it’s not a big issue but why ahahah, I need another cable?
It doesn't look like it has a hard drive/ssd activity light, not really a big deal as it tells you if your system is accessing the storage, most never look at it. Not all cases have all the connectors I show you, but I try to make it as complete as possible, I hope you enjoyed it my friend.
@@ThisBytesForYou yes of course, thanks for the video, my issue was the front panel adapter.
After the plug-in, nothing on, the only issue was the power switch upside down ahaha.

Where can I get this connectors from cuz I have a case that doesn’t use the same headers so I’m gonna have to do that I need some guidance lol
what is the manufacturer and model number of your case, every case has them, its how you turn you computer off and on, how you reset your computer (though not all cases have a reset button), how cases have the LED activity and Power LED, its got it, but it may be hidden, or it could be from an OEM case.... and thats a different issue.
@@ThisBytesForYou well uh is hard to explain i have a lenovo h520 case but the board is an Asus H110 m-c i got it to work but i wanted to use the power button and stuff instead of having to jump it but i cant use the button because the headers of the wires are not the same as the board which is why i think i may have to do that sorry if i suck at explaining i am like new on the compute building this being my first build but i like things to look oem if you know what i mean.

This is by far the hardest part in building a pc. Why do they make them so small and so close together? Should be color coated where each cable is a unique color.
At first yeah it's rough but once you have done it enough times you know one of 2 things, look at the manual or the silk screening and you got it. As for a standard, you have to get case manufacturers and board manufactures together and it also cost more money that we would have to pay more. Also, it has to be that all because each piece that it it connects to connects through a wire (thinner than a hair) through several layers of pcb and through so many other pieces of circuitry and numerous other things that they want to keep it tiny. Even the location of this collection of headers is different from board to board along with each form factor... It's a huge challenge.
where can find the front panel connectors??
attached to the case?

impossible to help you without information. Kinda like going to the mechanic and saying my car won't start, how much to fix it... and forgetting to mention you don't have an engine, are missing 3 tires and the gas tank hasn't had gas in it since 1999.
So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components:
1. What did you do that caused it not to turn on?
2. Are the lights on in your room, does your house have electricity?
3. Motherboard - manufacturer and exact model number
4. CPU - manufacturer and exact model number
5. RAM - manufacturer and exact model number
6. Video Card - manufacturer and exact model number
7. Power supply - manufacturer and exact model number
8. Monitor - manufacturer and exact model number
9. Case - manufacturer and exact model number
My motherboard didn't come with a manual and the pins are unlabeled and they don't have a website.
Well.... If you want my help... I need to know the manufacturer and model name of your motherboard
@@ThisBytesForYou One of the unnamed X79G boards. Doesn't matter though, I'm going to scrap it because the layout is seriously jacked up. Can't get to the screws to mount inside the case (after removing fans etc) because the only cooler that wasn't too tall for the case covers two of the case holes and the power supply came DOA. Used to be able to buy those old tin PSU's in the 90's for nothing and they'd last a decade but it seems these new ones aren't up to par. Anyway, have to send that back and I think I'll get a name brand, maybe a 550 board and an open rack mount so I can get to everything. Still don't know what to do about a PSU though but thanks for getting back to me.
always a pleasure my friend, always let me know if I can help, I will always try as for the PSU, go for a known name brand and a little more than what you need, don't ever get exactly what you need.
