@@ThisBytesForYou I have been watching your videos all day and now I’m sorta starting to line up parts and I’ve come to the RAM. Maybe I’m not as clued in to it yet but I’m looking at the Corsair Vengeance. My eyes just can’t stop staring, lol. So, 128Gb @3600Mhz, DDR4. Is that a good frequency rating for the Asus TUF Z690 plus? It’s been so long since I’ve built. Was trying to find in the board specs online but I keep finding “128Gb” but not if the frequency matters. Sorry if this is a silly question. I’d be glad to watch another one of your videos if that’s easier. 😂✌️❤️
@@Shane_Little Well, if your going for Intel, you can go faster RAM, and mind you, I love RAM and more of everything but what will you be using your machine for?
@@ThisBytesForYou Mostly for gaming, some video editing off and on. It’s not something I NEED, just something that interests me that I’ve wanted to do for over a decade. Building a PC is really interesting to me. Admittedly, I have a small Star Citizen addiction as well. Shhh.
I think you may want to watch this video, I did a tremendous update, though I went from Intel to AMD, maybe one day I will go back to Intel, the 5900 is nice. So I did this for my workstation, went from 32Gigs to 64Gigs, 64Gigs is nice, this is also my gaming machine, I use this machine mainly for video and photo editing for this channel, 128 is nice, but its expensive overkill, check out the video and check in the comments for the memory choice, I dont recommend what you want, in Corsair I mean: ruclips.net/video/13LhFMdbtBA/видео.html

Great and helpful video. As many others have said, this is a first build for me as well. The technology has changed so much since the last time 'ordered' a music production PC (10yrs ago) that videos such as this are gold for newbs like me. Wiring was my fear...although I have yet to apply power...I would like to know where to get a liquor cooler though...

The mother board I’m using is also the Z690-A ddr4 so I thought I plugged everything in where it should be. Is there another step I’m suppose to do or did I hook it up wrong?
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. You need to make sure you have the SATA power connector connected, that provides additional power to your unit, as well as the 4Pin PWM fan header, the Pump Tach. The USB cable helps to have connect and the RGB cable for RGB lighting, so 4 cables in total, do you have those connected?
You're very informative and easy-to-follow presentations are perfect for neophytes like me ( THANK YOU!). I would like your thoughts on Corsair's Commander Pro + Light Node Pro vs their Commander Core XT. My build will likely have around 13 RGB fans that I would like to be able to control ( fan speed as well as lighting ). I am a bit confused by the two Corsair products ... It seems the Commander Pro + Light Node Pro provides the greatest level of control (requiring 3 sets to accommodate 13 fans?) as opposed to the consolidated Commander Core XT ( also needing 3 to accommodate 13 fans). I can't find any definitive information to help me decide which solution is best for my needs. The Core seems to be the simplest, less expensive and tidier (fewer wires and physical space) choice, but I am not sure if I am fully aware of the differences between the two solutions. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
Thanks my friend, so very happy you enjoyed my video, the way I present them and my presentation style, I do try to make it as easy as possible to understand but not 100% boring, maybe 50% haha. So, before we get to the 3, may I ask a few questions. 1. Why 13 Fans 2. In what direction do you have them flowing, intake or exhaust in Front, Back, Top, Bottom, etc 3. What motherboard manufacturer and model number do you have? 4. Do you have multiple RGB softwares installed, if so, which ones and if only one, which one?
@@ThisBytesForYou Great Questions! A1: The 13 fans ( seems like a lot to me also! ) will be placed in the Corsair Obsidian 1000D case - 8 x Corsair QL RGB 120 fans in the front fan tray (INTAKE), 3 x Corsair ML 120 fans attached to the top-mounted radiator (EXHAUST) and 2 Corsair ML 120 fans attached to a radiator on the rear of the case (EXHAUST). A2: The motherboard is an ASUS Z690 Extreme A3: I am still in the pre-build phase and have not installed any RGB software ( yet )... however, I would expect the primary RGB software would be Corsair's iCUE software ( I also will be using it with Corsair RGB Platinum RAM and a Corsair - iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Display Liquid CPU Cooler) . In addition to the Corsair RGB hardware, I also have the Lian Li Strimer cables for the ATX and GPU connections and the ASUS RGB components of the motherboard as well as the graphics card Asus LC 3080 TI. I *might* add if needed the ASUS Aura RGB software ( but only if needed). Finally, (whew) my control devices ( keyboard, mouse, keypad, headset and mousepad) are Razor Chroma controlled. I will also likely toss in a couple light strips (might as well!) as they come with the Corsair Lighting Node Pro. ( not sure if I will use the Lighting Node Pro or not). Thanks!!!!
no no, 13 might be too little for that case, haha, it is beautiful. Be aware, if you have more than 1 piece of RGB software, you will potentially have issues. I would start off with Asus' and if that does not work for you, try Corsairs as well. This is me as a techy and a geek, I have personally never reviewed it, but maybe i will, I like the CORSAIR iCUE COMMANDER CORE XT. I have heard people having issues with it, BUT, the people I hear this from, have issues with just about anything they touchy, so grain of salt and all. now what I don't know is how multiple controllers will work out for you, then also remember, each will NEED to connect to a USB 3.0 header on your motherboard, so 2 or 3 in total. Your motherboard only has 2 USB 2.0 headers. You will not be able to use the cases usb 2.0. This means you will either need to buy a PCIE hub, for more ports or a USB 3.0 converter. There will be some challenges but I spoke to Emmy M from Corsair Live support, and she stated that 3 commander core XT's would work fine together in ICUE, I was scared on that for you, so you will be good. Please let me know how it goes, sounds very cool.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks so much! This is my first attempt to build an "RGB" system. My past builds have been "simple" in comparison, using only 6 single-color fans. Technology certainly evolves quickly!!! Thanks for checking with Corsair regarding the compatibility of multiple Commander Core XTs. I REALLY like the apparent "fan & light" control capabilities of the XT compared to having to combine a Commander Pro and a Light Node Pro to get the same functionality / control. I will be sending you updates for your thoughts and suggestions. I imagine this will take (me) longer than a typical build as I can only work on the build on weekends, but it is a very exciting and enjoyable project for me. Well thanks for the help. I'm in no hurry to learn how to build a pc because it's going to be a while before i even try, maybe around income tax season. Just figure I'll keep watching videos about how to build a pc and sooner or later I'll be well recognized with all the parts and wire names, and thing's will be a lot easier. I don't think my struggle will be with installing hard drives, and CPUs and i think the wiring will be the most confusing. I prolly won't watch any videos about installing software and the Bios until i feel confident about wiring up a pc and plugging everything in.

I'm looking at replacing my front fans with a CPU water cooler. Does the watercooler take up a lot of energy such that you need a PCIe cable? I just bought a Corsair RM850x and like the other fully modular PSU that I gave up on, it has like 4 cables labeled PCIe. I gave up on my first build. Now I am at it again :)
This particular liquid cooling unit actually never existed to sell, it was supposed to but I am nt sure what what happened, go figure. You might want to go with an Arctic 360, like I show you in this video and in the description. Also, no liquid cooling unit is powered by a PCIE cable, you only need to connect it to the AIO pump header or the CPU fan header: ruclips.net/video/J5m5WBlPkfc/видео.html

If I’m running 2x 180mm rgb case fans, 3 rgb 140mm on bottom and 1 x 120mm rgb on the back of the case, do I run those 2 case ones off the top mb spot connected to the back one and the bottom mother board rgb spot for the bottom fans? Or just daisy chain everything together? How can I make it so they all still work together through the system? Hope my question makes sense lol
either which way would work, but it all depends on the software controlling them, as long as it can handle them yes that can be together, or on separate RGB headers and all work together.
I got a question about the front usb panel connector on 7000d. There are two connectors on 7000d, and my motherboard Asus Z690 Pro Art only has one connector. When I connected one of those connectors, only the first two USB work.
first two or next two, depending on which on you use, you can follow it back to the front panel, but yes, that is correct but I show you the USB adapter cable I use to make all 4 work and also listed in the descrition.

I have the same motherboard as you but not the same power supply...when you connect the 4 pin and the 8 pin epu and cpu power do you have to gonnect the 4 pin and the 8 pin or can I just do one or the other because my power supply (RM850X) does not come with a 4 pin cable AT ALL
Sadly I dont have any Corsair or Cooler Master RGB fans, I may have some at some point but what is the manufacturer and model number of your motherboard?
Thanks for the video, I just bought the same mobo and processor BUT can't find a cable for the 4 pin cpu connector. I read in some forums that it might not be necessary and that the processor would work connecting only the 8 pin. Can someone shed some light on that? I put everything together and got no video signal :(
@@ThisBytesForYou when I finished assembling, got no video signal. Cables and monitor are ok so I thought it might be a power issue. I know I should try to remove the rams and try again.

You can bend them back if it's not too bad, I don't know if a shop will do that but do you bought it at a shop, return it, saw it doesn't work... Maybe they won't notice it.
@@ThisBytesForYou ok I will try and bend them back 1 question there’s about 6 I have to bend back if I fail and some of the pins are touching will this short my board or would there be no power then because nothing is plugged in?
The several thousand I have sold and built (with warranties) have never had issues and I can pretty much state with 100% certainty that you haven't seen this issue, but you've heard tons about it. I promise you my friend, no issues.
My new motherboard is Asus ROG Maximus 790 Hero. It has two 8-pin atx 12v connectors. My psu has one 12v cable but the end of that one cable has two 8 pin connections. Is this sufficient to connect both? Or do I need a new psu that has two separate 12v cables?
As usual, the manufacturer instructions were as clear as mud. I was able to connect most of the wires, but you filled in the blanks on the Fan SATA power, extra usb 3 wire and PWM cables
Ahhh nice, Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you.
Hi ! I have exactly same build but my power supply is Corsair RM1000x. On our motherboard you connected 8 pin cpu cable and 4 pin cpu cable. With my RM1000x I have only 8pin cpu cable that I plugged in. Is this fine ? THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR A FANTASTIC VIDEO.
yes my friend, the 4pin is only for additional power to the cpu, like if you are hardcore overclocking. Without the 4Pin, you can even get away with some overclocking, but when you start adding additional voltages, then you need the 4Pin, but you should be fine. For this case, I would buy a USB 3.0 expansion PCIE card that provides 2 ports on the rear as well as an internal header for the 2 ports on the front. That way you get additional 4 USB 3.0 ports. Also buy a rear IO plate with 2 USB 2.0 ports that connects to the motherboard header for 2 additional ports where slow peripherals like keyboard or mouse or printer goes. Keep the second USB 2.0 header free for future RGB header or fan controller upgrade.
Hi great video, thank you so much. I have just bought the same case and just wanted to check should I go with 8 120MM fan or should I go with 6 140MM (including front & the side mounting, also I'm planning to go with ML120 or ML 140 pro as I don't need that much for RGB). My objective is to achieve better air flow and keep the case & component cool. Would really appreciate your reply...
thanks for your kind words. I would recommend 140mm as the larger fans will be able to achieve more airflow, better temps with less noise, even though it is 2 less fans all PWM controlled.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thank you so much for the reply would the airflow be negligible as 120mm would have 2 more fans in count or would the 140mm make the real difference?
@@whatsnext6598 no no, airflow would be good with 120mm, but since they are smaller, they have to work a little harder to blow air, so they are slightly more noisy. and always a pleasure my friend, I love helping, going to start the build video for monday now, stay tuned.
@@ThisBytesForYou Sure thank you so much. I appreciate all your help. I'll probably go with 120mm for now as it will cover the entire front and side bay.. lol... But I'll definitely check your new video.
@@whatsnext6598 thanks so much my friend, and as for noise, some people are A LOT more sensitive to it, but myself, I am usually using head phones, or since I spend the day in a server room mostly, this noise does not bother me, actually it calms me, it does not bother me at all. Yes, that is 100% correct on the 6600 XT by design is limited to x3.0 and only utilizes x8 lanes but don't worry, with the bandwidth you will not come close to saturating those lanes.
A bit confused, you don't need a drive and not sure just how that fits in to fans working. Please fill in the gaps so I can help you... If you are asking for help. Maybe start by staying what you are working with and what the problem is so that I can help.
Would be nice it you would show what's written on all the wires, and also what's written the places that these wires are being plugged in at. I think the most difficult thing about building a pc is figuring out the proper places for the wires.
@daveyingram8934 problem with that is not all boards, cables, cards, power supplies have the same names for things, so it would make sense if you used all the same components but if you used different it would confuses you. That's why I show the connections, that won't change. But maybe this would help ruclips.net/video/7SjQo7wrWq4/видео.html
check the video I attached, and though I feel it's irrelevant, again because the power supply I have may not say it, or yours may not say it, I will see what I can do for the next build coming soon because what you say does mater here, so I will do what I can.
@@ThisBytesForYou what attached video? how to flash the BIOS and install Windows 11? I haven't gotten that far. I figure if i don't feel confident enough to build a pc no point in trying to figure out how to set up the software. Don't want to rush out and buy all the parts and feel too overwhelmed. I may start looking for videos that are just, like, how to install all the fans, or how to just install, a hard drive, or cpu, and every other part that goes into a pc build.

@@ThisBytesForYou actually can you please make a video on how to choose the perfect hardware for my pc? I am looking forward to build a pc but can't really figure out which components should I choose. That would be a really great help
well, that is a hard one, and a generic one that I have tried to avoid because they do not seem sincere, but maybe I need to rethink things on that. Let me think about that, thank you.
I'm using this same motherboard, but with the 4000D Airflow, and holy crap, I still can't get my CPU power plugged in. Got the 6 pin, but can't get the 4 pin....yet. With that heatsink and top fans in, I literally don't see how I will do it, haha. Any ideas on that one?
So there is no 6Pin for CPU power, there is an 8Pin and a 4Pin, 6Pin is for PCIE/VGA, not CPU. I dont know what liquid cooling system you are using though
@@ThisBytesForYou My mistake, I meant 8 pin and 4 pin, haha. I finally got it, I had to take one of my top case fans out right above my cooler, and I am using a Noctua air cooler. You're using that 7000D, and you can almost park a car next to the motherboard at the top, mine has hardly any room to even twist that plug around, and I'm 6'8 with huge hands, so it was definitely a challenge, lol. The 4 pin was really a pain. But I got it, hopefully it's downhill from here!

Well, what is the manufacturer and model number of your motherboard? Also, you can download and install windows, just pop in the key when you get it, you get about 3 months of use without a key, check out this video on how to do that, totally legal as well ruclips.net/video/ayp8TksEtoY/видео.html

1. Why 13 Fans
2. In what direction do you have them flowing, intake or exhaust in Front, Back, Top, Bottom, etc
A2: The motherboard is an ASUS Z690 Extreme
A3: I am still in the pre-build phase and have not installed any RGB software ( yet )... however, I would expect the primary RGB software would be Corsair's iCUE software ( I also will be using it with Corsair RGB Platinum RAM and a Corsair - iCUE H150i ELITE LCD Display Liquid CPU Cooler) .

I have the same motherboard as you but not the same power supply...when you connect the 4 pin and the 8 pin epu and cpu power do you have to gonnect the 4 pin and the 8 pin or can I just do one or the other because my power supply (RM850X) does not come with a 4 pin cable AT ALL
the 4 pin aids in hardcore overclocking, its additional power, but is not needed, as long as you have an 8Pin EPS connection you are good my friend ;)

I have spent ages building my new and last build but made a mistake and spent the last of my money on the wrong motherboard which in turn i love and am going to sstick with. Just need cpu to finish the pc and get gack in contact with family and friends online. To sick to go out in public

I wish he would have said what to do if you only have two four-pin CPU power connectors and how they get connected. Do you connect one of the four-pin plugs to the eight-pin connector and if so which pins?
you could ask, and I could tell you. You have 1 cable, that has 2 four pins, and they tie together to be an 8 pin right, do you have the manufacturer and model number of your power supply?
FUN to watch your videos brother, thanks for your time..

So I bent the pins on my USB 3.2 things on my brand new rog strix z690-a what can I do, would that be an expensive repair at a shop,
You can bend them back if it's not too bad, I don't know if a shop will do that but do you bought it at a shop, return it, saw it doesn't work... Maybe they won't notice it.
@@ThisBytesForYou ok I will try and bend them back 1 question there’s about 6 I have to bend back if I fail and some of the pins are touching will this short my board or would there be no power then because nothing is plugged in?
No, do not turn the system on with them touching, be very careful, they are delicate

Do I have to buy another ssd card for sata so the whole cable management works
No not at all, all you need is 1
@@ThisBytesForYou all I have is a state drive not a sata drive so I still need it
No, just 1 drive, be it a mechanical sata drive, SSD sata drive or m.2 drive, just 1 drive is needed
As usual, the manufacturer instructions were as clear as mud. I was able to connect most of the wires, but you filled in the blanks on the Fan SATA power, extra usb 3 wire and PWM cables

Thanks so much for your kind words and I am so very happy I could help you.

Keep the second USB 2.0 header free for future RGB header or fan controller upgrade.
there are a ton of options, it all on how you want to handle it.
I am filming the last few minutes of the video now, then I have to start editing, just needed to take a breather.

A non related question to the video. I have a z490 MSI MPG gaming edge wifi and a 6600 XT Red Devil. And for some reason checking with GPU Z my gpu is running at 8x 3.0 and the card supports 4.0. I updated bios I restarted the GPU and still nothing, what am I missing or doing wrong?
Yes, that is 100% correct on the 6600 XT by design is limited to x3.0 and only utilizes x8 lanes but don't worry, with the bandwidth you will not come close to saturating those lanes.
What can I do if I don’t have a sata drive ? Will 3 fans just not work?
A bit confused, you don't need a drive and not sure just how that fits in to fans working. Please fill in the gaps so I can help you... If you are asking for help. Maybe start by staying what you are working with and what the problem is so that I can help.
how to know which end of the connectors plugs into the psu
watch the video, crazy, but a video on how to wire a PC, I think would tell how what to connect?
Would be nice it you would show what's written on all the wires, and also what's written the places that these wires are being plugged in at. I think the most difficult thing about building a pc is figuring out the proper places for the wires.
@daveyingram8934 problem with that is not all boards, cables, cards, power supplies have the same names for things, so it would make sense if you used all the same components but if you used different it would confuses you. That's why I show the connections, that won't change. But maybe this would help ruclips.net/video/7SjQo7wrWq4/видео.html
I hear what you're say but it still might be more relatable when you're trying to get a grasp on trying to build a pc.
check the video I attached, and though I feel it's irrelevant, again because the power supply I have may not say it, or yours may not say it, I will see what I can do for the next build coming soon because what you say does mater here, so I will do what I can.
@@ThisBytesForYou what attached video? how to flash the BIOS and install Windows 11? I haven't gotten that far. I figure if i don't feel confident enough to build a pc no point in trying to figure out how to set up the software. If i had all the parts to build a PC it may be more easier, and more relatable, but I'm just looking to try and make myself familiar with the parts and wires and hope things will begin to make more sense over time. Don't want to rush out and buy all the parts and feel too overwhelmed. I may start looking for videos that are just, like, how to install all the fans, or how to just install, a hard drive, or cpu, and every other part that goes into a pc build.
@@daveyingram8934 I get it my friend that's why I am here. In my first reply to you I linked up a video, it's the about all the cables on a power supply
