I adopted a cat who'd been in a shelter for 10 years, practically his whole life. He had been found in the parking lot behind the rescue underneath the car when he was still a kitten. This rescue was not Top Notch but it was the only one available in the community. By the time I adopted him he had several health issues that they were unaware of. When I let them know about them they put a major overhaul into place regarding how they handle things. Unfortunately he only lived for about a year and a half after I got him he had arthritis it turned out he had nerve damage to his face which is why his I always look like it was open. But he had never had a window and the first day I had him I had put a ladder in front of a window and he spent the first 4 hours or so just looking out the window. There was also a bird feeder just outside the pain so he got to watch birds and squirrels and even in a possum on one occasion. When I realized he wouldn't be able to run away in any way shape or form I let my cat who is used to the area go out and he knew what area he was allowed in and this cat just followed him out and did whatever he did. So he got to get on grass for the first time and he didn't quite know what to do about it. But he eventually died of a cancer still he got to experience being a real cat for about a year and a half
How tragic. I am so sorry. At least he got to experience love and what family means. So many animals are not that lucky. Thank you for taking good care of him and sharing your memories with us.
The lurchers are great dogs for folks that enjoy bike or ski joring. It gets them out running with their humans. Hopefully someone sees this and decides to adopt this beautiful boy.
Oh poor baby, but thank you to the shelter they have done a wonderful job with him. Despite everything he was so happy in the yard with his toy and the space i do hope someone can accommodate him with a forever home soon ❤❤❤
Been watching you for sometime Scott, what a lovely lady Ali is. God Bless you all, and here is to finding Floyd a wonderful new family for 2025!! 🤗🤗🙏🙏🎁🎁
6 years in a kennel, and he is still loving and hopeful. He's such a wonderful pup. The slowmo of him playing are beautiful and shows his bright side. His eyes speak volumes. I really hope that with this exposure will land him a forever family.
I just fell in love with Floyd. He is a beautiful dag. My Christmas wish is he can find a loving family for him. I rescued my cat from the humane society in Canada and he is the sweetest cat. Good Luck Floyd. Please let us know if he does get adopted.
Fabulous Floyd, I wish you could come home with me. You remind me so much of my rescue brindle greyhound who was with me for several years. When he came, the first nine months was a big adjustment process for him, as he too had not been cared for. He blossomed into the grandest dog and greatest companion. As he learned to trust, he was friends with everybody and when we lost him a whole village missed him terribly. Later my family rehomed a bull/lurcher and she too was the most loyal wonderful member of the family, loved by all. To whoever gives this boy a home, stick with him and he will be a fabulous dog. If I was younger and fit, to match Floyd, I wouldn't hesitate to apply. Good luck in finding Floyd the loving caring home he deserves.
It's sad to think that Floyd has been in the shelter most of his life 😢. Thank you Dr. Scott and Allie for showing us this beautiful boy. He so deserves a loving home. I love that you are doing this Christmas ⛄🎄 special. Merry Christmas 🎄. Love from Florida ❤️
Aww, Floyd is such a beautiful doggo, I sincerely hope he finds his forever home for Christmas. Thank you Dr. Scott and Ali for bringing him to the attention of more good people. Merry Christmas 🎄🐕💕👍
Aww so sad x Ali is so wonderful and her love really must make his life better......Surely there is an experienced dog owner out there who can give him a great forever home?
What a beautiful dog. I hope he finds his forever home soon. I appreciate the comment about Christmas not being the ideal time to introduce a pet into a home. There’s so much excitement, happy chaos going on and strangers coming in. A new pet should be given an opportunity to decompress and adjust to their new home and family.
Thank you so much for saying what every rescue and every shelter should be saying and repeating - Christmas and any holiday is the absolute worst time to adopt or bring a new animal into a home. You need a calm environment and time to habituate any animal to a new environment. My heart breaks for Floyd. There must be someone who could give him a proper environment and a proper loving home. I am sure he gets wonderful care at the RSPCA, but it's still not home. To grow up in a shelter is just so sad for this poor animal and so unfair for so many like him. Thank you for all you are doing to bring attention to these animals. And by the way, Ali is amazing - I think she does more for so many animals, more than people realize. What a gem.
Oh the shrill bark...my beautiful boy also used to make a hullabaloo when we went to the vet. When he graduated from puppy class he received the most vocal award 🤦♀️ but at home he was always such a darling with a gentle 'rooroo' bark. So it really does make such a difference when they are relaxed at home and not surrounded by other dogs in a shelter environment.
Hi Dr. Scott. That Red and Green lead that Floyd had on was the perfect colors for the Christmas season. Floyd seems like a great dog, although large, so hopefully he will find his forever home soon. Hoping that this Christmas season will be his last in the Shelter. I think featuring him in this video will get him adopted into a loving home of someone local.
Floyd is absolutely gorgeous and obviously very much likes to be with wonderful Ali and he liked you straight away so knows you’re a great person 🐶🧡. The monkey was a lovely gift for him and he’s definitely having lots of fun with it 👍🏻. So sad he’s been at the centre for such a long time now 😢. Really hope this’ll be his last Christmas there and he gets a forever home soon and hope his paw heals quickly as well 🤞🏻🐶🎄👨⚕️🎅🏻❤️
Aww, I truly hope Floyd finds his forever home soon! This initiative is fantastic, and such a wonderful way to support these precious furbabies. Santa-oops, I mean Dr. Scott-your efforts are much appreciated! Hopefully, this will spread the word about these adorable animals in need of fostering and adoption. It’s perfect to highlight Floyd, given his long stay. A huge thanks to Ali and the RSPCA Millbrook team for all you do!
My wish for Christmas and 2025 is for the sweet Floyd to get the loving home he deserves. Thank you for this series, and thank you to all the volunteers and staff at RSPCA Millbrook for going above and beyond in the care of their animals.
What a beautiful boy Floyd is😍 Lovely to see you and Ali togethet and thank you for showing him off to the world, fingers crossed someone out there will fall in love with him and give him his happy ending, a loving forever home 💓
So heartbreaking that such a beautiful dog has been overlooked for a home for such a long time 😢. Really hope his luck changes soon and people will give him the second chance he deserves and get to know what a lovely boy he is 🤞🏻🐶❤️. He definitely loves spending time with the amazing Ali and took to you straight away so he definitely can tell the good people 🧡. Lovely to see him having such a great time with his new toy 👍🏻🥰. Glad his paw injury was spotted and now being treated and hope he heals quickly 🤞🏻🐶👨⚕️🎅🏻🎄❤️
Bless Floyd - great video so wish I could take him ( too ill sadly ) but happy to sponsor him ❤ Thanks for your great work Scott & Ally - two heroes 🙏❤️
Wishing Floyd a wonderful new home in the new year. I wonder if the shelter has tried piping in music for the dogs and cats. I've seen it work quite well.
I have 2 x Lurchers and they have been awesome dogs, I would have loved to have adopted him but I am at the point where I may be homeless by next March (2025) I live in a static caravan and unable to pay my site fees and because of an issue with the caravan I have been asked to leave the site😢ps my dogs live with 4 x cats though I never let my guard down with them I wish him a happy life and a new forever home and yes my dogs disemboweled their toys so I now go for the road kill ones flat stuffing less ❤❤❤
I need that big Ole baby in MIssissippi!!!! He and my sister's dog would take over the world. Her dog is a Chocolate Lab with a bad case of the zoomies. Brownie says "woof woof" in agreement. My 11 cats, 1 dog, 5 raccoons, my sister's Lab, 4 cats and nightly visits of deer in their yard. Who wouldn't want to live here??
The dog has been there for six years and no one has bothered to obedience train him?? It takes just a few minutes a day to work with a dog like that and trash him to sit and to down. Two simple commands that every dog should learn. Walking on a lead is also necessary. It is really sad that no one at that shelter takes the time to train dogs. Over six years time there is no excuse.

So sad he is beautiful. I really hope he finds a home soon. All the people that help out are brilliant. I wish I could take him. ❤
Beautiful Floyd with his bridle tiger strip coat. Praying he finds his person to love. God bless Ali.
Let's hope he finds a good home!

He's definitely DUE his own loving home!
Handsome Floyd looks like he's got some greyhound in him.

What a beautiful boy - I hope he finds a home before Christmas
Wish I lived closer, he is a handsome boy. I think his new owner should also be very active as Floyd looks like he is full of beans😄
❤
Thanks for always telling the challenges
This will help them go to the right home.
Come on...someone must want this beautiful dog? I hope he's in a new home before Christmas
Wishing Floyd a wonderful new home in the new year. I wonder if the shelter has tried piping in music for the dogs and cats. I've seen it work quite well.
BarkBox has an amazing line of stuffed animals that have stuffing in them but it takes them a minute or two to actually rip into them
I know all the shelters & rescue in my area put on hold adoption for any type of animal from 20 of December- 6 of Jan each year
I like that idea because Christmas pets are usually given up after the excitement wears off.
Shared ❤We love you Floyd ❤❤❤
What a beautiful dog ❤
If I didn’t live in a small apartment I’d take him ASAP.
The least you can do for the new year is get him a job in the office as a Paper Shredder
💔
Hey Scott, You forgot the beard!!! LOL

Dr Scott every time you look at a dog or a cat or an animal. Do you automatically click into vet mode

Too much conversation. Too much sadness. You should have at least fostered him.
