    For me, IMO, a smooth draw cycle allows for more control of the bow. Less drop into the valley and probably less all around wobble. This allows for a quicker easier pin to target alignment? Quicker setup time for your release on your face. SPEED IS NOT THE ANSWER in a hunting scenario. It’s the ability to maximize your control over the entire drawing and shot process. One of my favorite hunting rigs is the old Elite Ritual 33”. Only shoots my hunting arrow at 260 fps. But is butter smooth and 100% shot repeatable.

    I run a zip tie through the front of my limb legs to keep them from opening on their own. My bows rarely see a bow case as they typically just ride on the front seat so I hardly ever have to replace it. Works great.

    Great video. Solid. It is important to put velocity into perspective. The velocity difference between these bows, on a percentage basis, is very minor. The difference between the slowest bow and the fastest bow in this test was 3.57%. Moral of the story - velocity is not a big differentiator on a percentage basis.
    Bow Velocity % Diff from Lowest
    Core SS 283.8 1.28%
    Alpha X 280.2 0.00%
    Mach 30 289.2 3.21%
    Lift 29.5 290.2 3.57%

    Excellent overview once again Tim and Josh. All 4 great options, could have added the Prime RVX 32 in the mix. Although ATA is two inches longer that’s their shortest bow.
    Sadly I can’t afford any of them even if I sold my Prime Black 3. But each one has certain options and features that I like. Because I am mostly a ground hunter I like Hoyt’s bow stand option the best. I have already lost two off my Prime. 😢. The Bowtech in home tuning interest me and that Mathew’s is a great all around bow, but the accessories are expensive.

    Love the video, especially because most reviews are done at 30” 70# with a 350 grain arrow.
    I find I search for draw cycle because as a 27.5” draw, I see the difference between the bows speed wise shrinks when you put a 450 grain arrow at the shorter lengths. Channels like extreme outfitters does a great job showing the shorter lengths and the lack of real difference compared to the feel.

    I shot them all and chose the evolve 33. I was at the top of the mod of the Hoyt so it was horrendous to shoot but felt the best built. The pse and mathews feel almost identical but the mathews felt so easy to shoot it didn’t feel like a hunting bow. The pse did feel better at full draw and the grip is a match in heaven for me. The Bowtech felt like an absolute tuning fork. All bows were shot as they come stock with nothing but a whisker biscuit

    Love your videos but I disagree. Draw cycle is indeed important. In hunting on cold days it matters. Letting down when a deer isn't cooperating is important. Aggressive and stiff draw cycles will want to rip your arm out of your shoulder. Finally, draw cycle matters for repeatability. Every archer should be shooting their bow as much as possible. A better draw cycle makes that repetition more enjoyable.

    • @quintonb9870
      @quintonb9870 7 месяцев назад +4

      Agreed, I don't care how much I like a bow, if the draw cycle sucks it's going in the bin. I had a Martin Anax and i shot it great, held great, super quiet, no vibration. Heavy, but that doesn't matter much to me. However I absolutely hated the draw cycle. So I moved it along.

    I don’t think there is a tree stand bow, ground blind, eastern/western bow. As a life time tree stand hunter in the south of shot bows from 40” Ata to 28”. Be aware of your cams and they all kill the same. I’ve saddle hunted the last 2 season with an Inline 5 without any issues.

    • @willnose757
      @willnose757 7 месяцев назад

      It’s all marketing. Back in the early 2000’s a certain manufacturer marketed their new short bows for the treestand and ground blind hunter, and saturated their advertisements with the idea that only short bows could be used in those situations. It’s true that they may help, but some people (like me) prefer a stable platform…and believe I or not, I’m from the EAST and hunt with 34-35” bows! 🤯
      Like Jack Wallace said in an interview several years ago…There are quality bow companies and there are marketing companies.
      I’m sure that the company he was talking about is a quality company, but I think they also saturate their marketing with a lot of BS as well.
      And now, back to hunting… I need to pull my bow up with my prototype “Stealthy and Secure Connection String.” Don’t tell anyone it is just a 25’ parachute cord! I’m going to sell them soon for $69.99 each!!

    To whom this might help.....? I have a Hoyt RX5, I absolutely love it. I thought about buying the new RX8 after listening to reviews. But it shot exactly like my Rx5. Seriously, there is no difference in the way it shoots, or at least not enough to make me buy it. Today I tried the new Matthews lift. With all the reviews I watched on that bow, I was excited to try it. But I was extremely disappointed, the drawback was horrible, and when I got in my shooting, stance to relax and make the shot. I had to keep pulling back on that bow. Otherwise, it wanted to fire forward as I was still holding it back. I hated it. It was exhausting to shoot. Plus, it felt as if I was pulling back 75lbs when it was set at 65lbs the same as my Hoyt RX5, and my RX5 is like pulling back butter it's so easy. Then I tried the PSE mach 34. I Absolutely loved it, way more than I was expecting. It was set at 70 lbs, and it felt like i was pulling back 60 lbs. And it was a very fast bow, It was fantastic. Now I liked the PSE mach 34 so much I want one . But I love my Hoyt RX5 so much I can't part with it. For the first time in my life, I feel like I want to own 2 bows. But it feels unlogical . I haven't shot the hoyt Alpha x, but if it shoots anything like the RX5 and RX8, it's absolutely worth buying over the Matthews lift bow especially if you don't want to go to the carbon bow. Hope that helps someone out there who is trying to decide on a new bow.

    Fmrj or what ever he goes by is wrong when he says no to adjusting your draw length (@ about 4:25 mark). You should always put the DL where you feel most comfortable. While I agree your dl doesn’t change (that’s what he’s basically saying) string angle does. I’ll also agree that you will probably need to make adjustments in your anchor from time to time. Or even length of loop or what ever it takes to get where the bow feels right to you. But just because you’ve been told or determined in some why your DL is 29” (or what ever) doesn’t mean you adjust every bow you ever pick up to the factory setting of 29”. Heck there’s any easy 1/2 or more variation between manufacturers. Everyone knows a Mathews 29” doesn’t equal say a PSE 29”.
    You can’t always comfortably and repeatedly only adjust your anchor/form to get where you need to be. And even in the manufactures bows most people aren’t going to shoot a 29ata bow on the same dl as they do say a 36” ata bow.
    To be clear I’m not saying you’re going to have a huge swing either. You’re not gonna shoot that sub 30ata bow on 31” and a 38”ata bow on 28”. But you’d almost assuredly shoot them on different dl to achieve something close to the same anchor.

    Having shot them all (70lb/29"), the Lift 33 easily wins the draw cycle war, and the Bowtech Core SR was a surprising second for me in comfort. The Lift 29.5 felt maybe a tad stiffer than others, but smooth, and then the Alpha X. Literally splitting frog hair though with the exception of the Lift 33, which was easily the best draw and far and away the easiest to let down. My biggest concern now is reports of cable and cam contact on the Lifts from the factory.

    You talk about the bowtech being smooth but that dump at the end of the cycle, yikes. You can even hear the bow rattle.

    I think you need an asterisk on your speed test, some bows had a drop away rest others had a biscuit rest, there is 2 or 3 fps difference there, correct?

    Shop owner once again leaning heavily in favor of the LIFT, stop pretending dude your absolutely gonna shoot that bow and continue to push it and that's OK lots of innovation...just own it ( or he makes more margin on it )...
    Jumping back in Hoyt was my Primary, but I'm a DIY guy, always had my own press, paper tuning setups ( when it was rare ) ect...ive been worried about parallel and over parallel limbs with what's required to do that to ME the stand out is...
    Bowtech...
    First its got a 31" draw closest to fitting me, and a ton of adjustability some of which bow shops near me aren't even gonna do so I'd have to do it myself anyway....I understand why a proshop wouldn't push a bow the buyer can do more himself with but still......
    I'd like to know what invoice to dealer cost is on each of these bows to get a truly unbiased review....
    The biggest drawback to the bowtech is there are 2 things I looked forward to in tech jumping back in higher than 55% letoff LOL, and sight/rest/stabilizing tech...that limited sight option was a terrible choice they should have launched it with an adapter of some kind minimum or user pica tinny

    If it wasn’t a Mathews you would whine about the draw cycle 😂

    Im not 100% sure but it looked like you change your bow grip A LOT you might try to get it more on your palms bottom pressure point.
