On departing from Kenya, several days after this video was filmed, I flew Ethiopian Airlines flight 303 from Nairobi to Addis Ababa, to catch another Ethiopian Airlines flight onward. My heart goes out to the families of all the passengers & crew of the lost Ethiopian Flight 302. It really saddened me to hear of this accident. I was able to speak with some of the most friendliest crew on an airline regardless of it being a short flight (and taught me how to say thank you in Amharic), as well as a few passengers who regularly took the Nairobi-Addis Ababa flight and chatted with them about my recent purpose for visiting Africa. Words can't describe my condolences to the family & friends of those lost from this. My thoughts are with you.
I hope you got to see the contrasting countryside, and the people, not missing out on the coastal people either....Maybe you learnt a few Swahili words. Karibu Tena!
Just wanna say thanks for taking this video. It really brought back a lot of good memories. It felt like I was in the plane. Thanks for the experience 🙏👍
What a nice video! I hope there was an applause at some point on board to celebrate the first flight! The end is very nice where you can just see how excited everyone is about this new route.
When we landed, everyone def applauded, as well as some applause while they were doing the raffle while still in the air. The whole ceremony after landing was really something. Before people began to get off the plane, there was also a band playing too.
This so fantastic oooh,,,goosebumps when watching it,,I just love Kenya airways lastly I traveled from London to home with it and January will be going new york
What an amazing maiden flight on the reverse journey NYC to Kenya. The pilots were in pure control and they did an absolutely killer landing. Smooth as butter. Barely felt the vibration through the video. Nice to see the red carpet welcome. Kenya Airways is an amazing airline. Now that they have expanded to one city in the US, they now need to see if there is a market for Canada. Thanks for sharing this video of the maiden flight from US to Kenya!!
You're absolutely welcome and definitely enjoyed the experience myself. The whole red carpet welcome and then hearing the whole event on the news some hours later wasn't expected lol. I'll be sharing other flight experiences similar to this (though maybe not as special as this one). Thanks for watching.
I love two institutions in Kenya: Kenya Airways (KA) and Kenya Defense Force (KDF). KA cabin crew is one of the best in the industry. Food is high quality and service is excellent! KDF officers are very friendly and humane. Keep it up, guys. You make me feel good.
The majority of the flight was actually spent in darkness, though I wish I did walk around the airplane itself around that time. It definitely was a comfortable ride though.
I meant the map segment by segment with time zones shown in it. I think there is a quick view of the map in the flight but that is not clear. Nevertheless, as I said before I like the video and thank you for posting it.
Ah I understand. It's basically a direct flight from the New York to Nairobi, so it literally flew over the Atlantic, flying towards Morocco, and only Kenya from the West to the East. No layovers =)
Wow ! The pride of Africa... Seeing this Plane makes me to miss back home nice video greeting from 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 I hope no one ate Ugali and sukuma wiki in the plane ? 😉😉 just kidding 😂😂😂
@silence tech & travel. this would be a gift to myself for 2022 a nice vacation to kenya. although I can't afford business class but how's flying coach for 14hrs from jfk to nbo in kenya airways?
I enjoyed the coach class much, though I personally have trouble sleeping on a 14 hour flight. I definitely plan to taking this same flight again when I visit East Africa again. Coach was pretty comfortable and if the seats next to you are not occupied, then you can lay down on them. Being this was the first flight there, it was a full flight. I was actually lucky I got a window seat!
Posting videos like this should be illegal you making people like me feel home sick 😀. I love my country and family / friends miss them so much. Thanks for the nice video.
I saw that on a news video. I believe he flew the first KQ flight from Kenya to New York: KQ002. I'm guessing he was one of the pilots on this flight as well!
2:55 I don’t like these, because I was on a flight from New York to South Africa and the cabin crew locks the windows at night so nothing disturbs the passengers. They didn’t unlock the windows until we were about to land, and I had to sit 16 hours without seeing outside. No fun……
They received you guys like Hollywood A-Listers haha. How would you compare KQ to Ethiopian airlines? Having been on ET's 787 I didn't like their seats at all. The economy seats were pretty narrow and really, really firm. Their business class was okay at best. Upon just arriving on the aircraft it smelled bit off putting too. I'm thinking of taking another trip and saw Kenyan was the most affordable option.
I've flown two Ethiopian flights, but neither were 787s, think they 737s (not 737 Max). Those flights were comfortable but they were mostly short flights. I did enjoy the Kenya flights, including this one. The other flight was from Nairobi to Entebbe & back.
