  • You gotta love ignored videos, because they become great history in the future. Here we have an Original breda running the green line back in 2013ish. As of July 2017 these along with the Rohr 1000 series were retired from service.

That operator sounds familiar I think I rode her train before . But I miss these sounds grateful for the videos to relive it . The buzzing is so cool in LA their trains make similar noise . the other trains that came after this one has good sounds too unfortunately they’ve retired now too this year 😢 I wish they kept atleast one of each on the tracks it would be like a legendary train pull lol

3000 series with a thick buzzing sound from 1985 to 2009 for 24 years in service and still present after the rehab.
4000 series with a thinner buzzing sound from 1992 to 2017 for 25 years in service and retired without being rehabbed.

I wish I knew where the buzzing came from because throughout the times I rode the Metrorail, I hardly rode on any of the 4000 series cars even if their retirement was close. The only one I rode on was 4029 on the Orange line. I wonder how loud the buzzer was in that car.

+Nadim Allen no they are not gone they will come back as long as I'm here in 20 years this goes for other subway systems in the country as long as I'm here they will come back and stay that way

I always thought the buzzing was the sound of the wheels on the track but I don't know. Someone else I know thought it was buzzing from the PA system but I listened carefully and it was not coming from the PA system so I think it's the wheels accelerating or deaccelerating

Don’t you think the 1000 & 4000 series had yellow walls inside the train? I think they had yellow walls inside the train. The 4000 series were always my favorites because of the Yellow Walls & thick window wires at the same exact time.

I loved these original 2000-4000 series. Sadly they had so many door faults. The sounds of the traction motors is unique. I haven't heard them anywhere else on any system. RIP 4000s. (The 2000s and 3000s were all refurbished by Alstom so they don't sound like this anymore.)

I love the way the 2000 and 3000 series trains sound now; not to mention that by far one of the best propulsion systems out there and to be completely honest, they have plenty of potential to give the New York City subway trains some competition (specifically those that were manufactured by Alstom and have a similar sounding propulsion)

Miami Dade transit use to use those traction motors, it got removed from passenger service by the new railcars last year
