I absolutely love watching your video. The fact that you use old discarded pallets to make your creations is even better. Perfect recycling. Those pallets would end up in landfills but instead end up as works of art. Bravo sir. 👏👏👏👏👏

This is a nice Table, love it very much, especially the corner elements. It would be even better with a drawer for the pieces!

Great design, love seeing your creation, I am surprised you did not mytre the side skirts or even do some dovetails on them. I think it would have been a nice finishing touch to the project. Looking forward to seeing your next project.

I actually had started to miter them, but changed course when i wasn't getting the results i wanted from the table saw. The pieces love to slide away from the blade when your using the table saw, no matter how hard i held them. And my miter saws were just not accurate enough at the time to get a good result. Short of creating a sliding box jig with a locking mechanism, i was basically just calling it a job done at the point and just doing butt joinery. Thanks for watching Derek! Hope you subscribe and hope to see your comments on future videos! I have 5 more videos ready and lined up i have to get cracking on so be on the lookout!

@@treecycled I know exactly what you mean about trying to do a mytre joint on a table saw, it's not the easiest cut to make. I recently upgraded to a sliding table saw and it's been a game changer (4hp with a 2 meter sliding table) makes life so much easier. Only downside is i am now struggling for room in my workshop. Been subscribed to your channel for about 6 months and managed to watch most if not all the videos you put out. 👍

Babe, how many chess boards are you making. That's a ton of wood you're using. Interesting watching your creative process. 👍🏻🇺🇸

Suggestion. Instead of filling the insets individually... flood the surface with black epoxy, enough to fill the insets, with not much left over. Use a wide scraper to remove excess expoxy. Blow torch. Allow to harden. Sand. Tung oil. Sealing coat. Done.

Maybe someone already mentioned but here are some tips.
    1. Get a downcut bit. It will make cleaner cuts
    2. Use the CNC to surface the top face. This will remove the sanding part and make a much cleaner look on the surface and your.

why didnt u just cover the whole table with clear epoxy in the end since u used it for the black squares anyway?

I'm wondering... have you ever sorted by grade? Meaning same color and grain. I notice you like a variegated look for your projects. But I wonder if you sort by grade, meaning "sameness", and maybe use colored stain, and then clear epoxy over your next project? I wonder if you use only one same grade for one project? No knots or gradation, discoloration, or blemishes. Let me know what you think?
