"Just keep going and pretend there were no mistakes" A great phrase to work by. I have made many mistakes in my wood shop class, but whatever the teacher doesn't know can't hurt him!
having the repurposed singer-legged table go to your biggest supporter- your mum/mum in law- who uses it as a sewing table is very sweet. even sweeter you sold the table afterwards just by design and ended up making another one!
Mannnn, this is one of the coolest tables I've ever seen, and I think it's poetic that you recycled the old singer legs and she uses it as her sewing table. Spot on, love it. A frickin plus.
I genuinely love the commentary. A certain level of humility countered with experience, level headedness, and humor that just perfectly mixes together, thank you!
Excellent video, Jesper. I like how you "leaned in" to the mistake and made even more cuts into the table to explore the direction that it went. I want to sculpt someday but I don't seem to have the vision to see objects in my mind before they are in front of me. But the cut you made was the catalyst needed to explore that road less traveled. Robert Frost would be proud.
Hey Scott, I'm just starting out in carving and like you I can't see the end result in advance so I don't have the confidence to start cutting into quality wood for fear of ruining it. Instead I carve construction lumber off-cuts, or firewood or even scraps of kindling or found branches etc. Because it's worthless and already destined for the wood burner there's no fear of ruining anything so I can just start carving without a clear plan of the final result. Quite often I surprise myself and make something that I'm pleased with, or I might think it's going to be a complete failure, but I keep going and it turns out okay. Sometimes my efforts do end up in the flames but that's also okay, it's all about learning and gaining confidence, and those pieces where I make glaring mistakes can be the most educational. And that quality lumber that's sat forever on the shelf?... if I've made a test piece that I really like that becomes a template for a higher quality piece giving me that option to 'see it before I've made it'. Think of it as sketching in 3D and feel free to make mistakes, at least that means you're making something. In time the mistakes will become less frequent (I hope!) 🙂

Great looking table, the Puzzle Loom absolutely looks amazing in my opinion. Glad to see the old Singer rescued and used for something, we have one ourselves in technically working condition, but it is more of a showpiece and coffee table

Fantastic! I started my toutube watching from that same exact pallet video. I thought, i have all these same tools, skills, and access to youtube. What am i doing? Now, i have all the same tools, same skills, and a stack of pallets with nothing to show for it. Good for you being inspired and actually taking action! It's a beautiful table, no matter what the final outcome is. Shows like this really gives me great inspirations for the projects I have in mind. So thank for sharing.
I laughed at the end, when you went and banged on your mother in law's window. Great twist. Please do this on each of your videos as it really injects humor into the story line and like me, to get people to subscribe, which I did. Much thanks and keep up the creative work.
I saw the swerves coming the second you started to copy a chopping board... it was like a beautiful slow-motion train wreck 🤣 What a great save and it just goes to show that nothing in woodworking is ever lost, it just may take many paths to find the right one 😊
Nice save! Mistakes are also opportunities to redesign as you have proven here. It’s great that you gave the table to someone who appreciates your work. The glitch with a buyer had to be a shock. Happy it turned out so well. Keep up the good work.
This video brought back some memories...My father made a sewing table for my mom with an old Singer base. Just a simple Baltic Birch top. And she also used a Bernina sewing machine. Thanks for making my day! Cheers!
Morley's talented for sure, but his biggest edge is a clientele consisting of millennials with a ton of expendable income. who will pay a trillion dollars just to have bragging rights that what they own is reclaimed. Not knocking his stuff, and if he can get that kind of money, he should. Your table is light years ahead of his stuff though. He'll get there one day.
Yes, exactly, and that's why the entire modern west doesn't manage to defeat these "oh so weak and badly armed Russians", even though 8 years of intensive preparation have been made. Very strong performance. 20 years Afghanistan and? 😂😂😂😂

If people want to see someone do something spectacular with pallets, the channel to watch is Epic UpCycling. That guy makes things out of pallets that ought to be in a museum, because if this sold for $771, the work on that channel would be priceless.
Thank you for sharing the channel Epic UpCycling with me! It's great to hear about other creators who are doing amazing things with pallets and upcycling materials. I'll definitely check out their channel and see what kind of inspiring projects they've created.
The Pathfinder. This elegant specimen will brighten up any day. Initially, it may look a bit crazed but it has a solid base which firmly roots it about its business. You wont find many like this one, it is hard working resilient and cheerful against the knocks that the workshop can bring. Rich in its variety, economical and sympathetic in its use of materials, just an all round joy. And yes it made a table with some very similar qualities.... Jesper thanks for getting the jigsaw out and taking the risk, for treading that dangerous path for us.
Cheers, @StinkingBishop! Happy to hear you enjoy the Nordic touch in the narrations - I guess it adds a bit of extra flavor to the stories, right? 😄 So glad you liked the build! Stay tuned for more! Do you have a favorite part from this video?
@@JesperMakesOh, hard to pick out one favourite part Jesper; it's lame I know but I really did love all of it. With that said, the part where you realised your mistake - and found a way to make it a strength - was particularly good. It was nice to see you give so much time to a cock-up as well as what you did to find a way around it. Definitely gives newbies like myself the courage to power on through my own cock ups. Of which there are many 😂 Really like the use of pallets too - I rely on scrap wood for my little projects and my small man-cave isn't quite as well equipped so vids like these are pretty invaluable to me. Loads of inspiration. Just wish I could find a greater variety of pallets here in the UK as you seem to find! Keep them coming Jesper, you do some of the very best woodworking vids on RUclips.
Ah, I can't tell you how great it is to hear that, @StinkingBishop! It's absolutely not lame; enjoying the journey with all its ups and downs is what it's all about, isn't it? I'm really glad to hear that sharing the bumps along the road gave you a bit of a morale boost for your own projects. Remember, every mistake is just a new opportunity in disguise, a stepping stone to something even better. And hey, we've all been there with the "cock-ups" - they're just part of the creative process! 😄 I'm thrilled to hear you're finding inspiration in the use of pallets and scrap wood; it really is amazing what you can create with some ingenuity and a bit of elbow grease, even with limited resources. I hear you on the pallet variety in the UK; sometimes it takes a bit of hunting to find the good stuff. Keep your eyes peeled, and don't hesitate to get creative with what you can find! Thank you so much for the kind words; it really means a lot. Here's to powering through and turning those cock-ups into something brilliant! Keep on building, and of course, keep enjoying those videos. I'm here to keep inspiring you with more content. Cheers! 😄
Jesper! You had me hooked all the way over here in Jamaica. If the furniture making doesn't work out try story-telling! Love it. I am inspired to make my first workbench.
Jesper - you are making the difference in woodworking videos. Love to see your content, to see your approach in solving difficulties, and share your philosophic setting 100%. Keep up the great work. Best regards Alex from Gemax 👏
Nice work, Jesper! I actually shouted "Nooo!!" out loud when you had the idea to cut the table for fitting in the thin strips!!! But later your idea of creating the broken\puzzle look turned out really good. Well done, good luck!

So glad that RUclips out this in my feed! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more from you. Great building and story telling skills my friend 👏👏👍🏻😄
Hello Jesper, I saw a palette from Turkey. :-) I must have sent that pallet there :-) And I sent the strongest pallet. Turkish pallets are solid. :-) Turkish pallets lead 1-0 against Russian pallets. :-) Air nail removal gun is a great convenience in works. I first saw this tool in Mark from Australia. The color separation in the Russian and Turkish palettes brought a different beauty to your project. It's nice to receive offers for product promotions. Now a laser machine offer has come to me. I will consider it. Table pieces that turn into puzzles.. I appreciate your epoxy work and skills. Your straightener does a great job. An amazing table. A nice gift for your mother-in-law. Congratulations. See you on your next project. All the best. Your friend Mehmet
Beautiful workmanship on a beautiful table! I have a Singer table frame which I got powder coated black for £100. Turns out it was made in 1899 - when the wheel rods were made of wood!

Thank you so much 😀
Brilliant story.....oh hard work, and determination....fab!!
Thanks 🙏🙏
Don't know what it is about the nordic accents, but i could listen to you all day mate.
Fantastic vid, amazing build.
Of which there are many 😂
Really like the use of pallets too - I rely on scrap wood for my little projects and my small man-cave isn't quite as well equipped so vids like these are pretty invaluable to me.
I'm thrilled to hear you're finding inspiration in the use of pallets and scrap wood; it really is amazing what you can create with some ingenuity and a bit of elbow grease, even with limited resources.
So glad to hear from Jamaica!
Like you music selection and how you improvised during your project!!
Thanks 👍👍
Jesper - you are making the difference in woodworking videos. Love to see your content, to see your approach in solving difficulties, and share your philosophic setting 100%. Keep up the great work.
Best regards
Alex from Gemax 👏
Hi Alex, great to hear from you.
Nice work, Jesper! I actually shouted "Nooo!!" out loud when you had the idea to cut the table for fitting in the thin strips!!! But later your idea of creating the broken\puzzle look turned out really good. Well done, good luck!
Thanks 🙏
Excellent video Jasper, never doubted the finished product, good recovery.
Thanks 🙏🙏
Love your story telling skills and humour. I’ve just found your Chanel so will now subscribe and binge on the old videos. Love this table - paths of serendipity
Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing to my channel! I'm thrilled that you appreciate my storytelling and sense of humor. I hope you enjoy binging on my older videos and discovering some of the other projects I've worked on.
And I'm glad to hear that you like the "Pathfinder" table - it was a fun project to work on and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thanks again for your support, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on future projects!
Jasper, watched this together with my kid. Its one of the best DIY vids i've seen. We loved it. Keep it up ❤
Thanks, this is one of the best comments I have ever gotten. Take care
No mistakes in wood working just design changes. Loving your channel and humour.
Design changes 😃😃💗
So glad that RUclips out this in my feed! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more from you. Great building and story telling skills my friend 👏👏👍🏻😄

Jesper, your videos get better and better. Your content makes me smile and laugh.

Excellent! Enjoyed the build, running commentary = priceless!!!

Hello Jesper,
I saw a palette from Turkey.
Thanks for the pallet Mehmet. It was very strong. it's now sitting in my mother in laws house making good use.
Beautiful workmanship on a beautiful table!
I have a Singer table frame which I got powder coated black for £100. Turns out it was made in 1899 - when the wheel rods were made of wood!
What, I didn't know that.
