I agree with you that players need to have something they keep coming back to in a loop or else your audience won't follow the groove, but I think you need to hear what you want to play in your head and getting it from your brain to, and through the drums is the musical expression. I didn't hear you mention having ideas for drums that you felt the necessity to vocalize on your drums which I feel is vitally important.
Anyone know approximately what pitch or Hz he tunes his snare and toms too? My ear is meh and my tune bot helps get me a closer sound to the people i like
For future readers, the first solo is in 4/4 and the figure on the floor tom is "1 2 3" at the top of the 4-bar phrase, in the exact same rhythm as "Hot Cross Buns".
“So that was like ... a simple solo” haha what a legend . Truly a beautiful musician thanks for this ,
he called that a simple solo.. amazing :))

He’s a drum genius. Him and Louis Cole are the outstanding modern drummers for me
this lesson should last at least 8 days

There is no melody there...It is so odd timed that no normal music lover would get into it.....
Perfect, we need something challenging sometimes... Hes a beast
Lol..
he is literally a jazz musician playing a solo and you’re saying it’s bad that he’s using syncopated phrasing 🤡🤡

Why does his kit sound so awful? Horrible sound
It doesn't sound horrible. You don't like it. There's a big difference there.
it sounds amazing lmao

Because you have terrible ears my friend. My condolences.
I think the sound is incredible. That super clean, studio, church music style drumming sounds bad to my ears
