I appreciate them for making the starter decks affordable, no-nonsense (3 copies of every card is so useful), and PLAYABLE!!! Most starter decks in card games are trash and you need multiple copies to get the good cards. The pick up and playability of these decks makes me think they care about the players.
It seams like it is a trend in standard sized TCGs from Japan. Final Fantasy was (like Wixxos) created by former MTG pros and all of their pre-built products are super solid and give you the feeling ot actually playing the game.
@RarecuisineGaming agreed, thier double diva decks are also amazing as well. Legit feels like they care more about making a good product rather then making stupid amounts of money, (which to be fair, as yugioh is finding out, this is a far more reliable and sustainable strategy for the long run)
Awesome vid, I've gotten into the game a couple weeks ago with a couple of friends, we actually are trying to grow a community for it at our lgs, since no lgs in our state has a community for it. All started cause our lgs decided to buy a couple of boxes of wixoss, for the purpose of magic/Yu-Gi-Oh players having titty tokens xD, now though, after having picked up a double diva deck, and trying the game, we got our lgs to start a wixoss event at the shop, now we are working to get enough people attending them weekly, so that our lgs makes the event a permanent thing. I found control decks to be my jam, so I built a piruluk ulti center, ex crossfire and Mel invisible assists, deck. As for my friends, they all prefer aggro. One is going with a Tama angel deck, another is building a hanaya deck. This game legit feels like the best game out there to play. (Fingers crossed that we succeed in building a large enough community)
Wixoss is the single most underrated tcg on the market. I've been making videos about it every so often for the last several years - always stoked to see more folks give it a shot!
@RedZoneRogue legit is. This game is so well designed, I've played literally every game on market, and in terms of careful and meticulous design, and amount of thought put into it, this card game reigns supreme, feels like 2014 yugioh, or edison format, or for another comparison, like a perfect middle ground between casual and competitive edh. When looking up general thoughts on the competitive scene, from start-modern day, the consensus seems to be, play whatever you want, player matters more, do to most decks being fairly similar in strength and consistency. Hopefully more people catch on to this game actually being amazing.
I recently got an entire collections worth of Wixoss cards (more than i know what to do with, though none of them are shiny) and im so exited and a little scared to learn how to play!
I'd love to see a guide on how to play the other formats! The game looks super fun as is with the 3 'lanes' and stuff, but I'm looking forward to being able to use level 5 stuff lol
I honestly think it's nearly identical except you only have 1 LRIG instead of 3 (you still have 3 lanes). You also use "Key" cards instead of "Piece" cards and there's a coin resource mechanic (you get the coins at the beginning of the game and you use them to level your LRIG and play Key cards)
i just recently discovered wiess schwarz , and shortly after i got this in my reccomended , another anime card game that shares most of it's game structure
Awesome video! Love learning mechanics to all kinds of card games. Thanks for this! By the way, the music for your videos are also pretty chill and tasteful 👌🏼👍🏼
This also looks like a ton of fun! The art is straight-up S tier, and I like the interactions with the cards. Is it still viable to get one of the starter decks in 2024?
Yes but I'd recommend the newer starter decks! The "DXM", White Hope, Urith's Miasma and the "Dual Heroines" decks are all incredible! I have a review of the Urith's Miasma and Dual Heroines decks coming up! The originals are still fine to learn if you can get them cheap but the newer ones have really great cards in them!
After watching, couple questions: For Deck Construction, can we use any LRIGS? For example, like 3 Red LRIGS. Then you can have an all red deck? Guessing the only restriction would be the Piece card requirements. Second, does overflow dmg take out a Life Cloth? Or is it just overpowering the opposing Signi, regardless of power difference? Lastly, it seemed like it, but when you reduce the power of a Signi below 0, does it destroy that Signi? Thanks a ton man! I saw your EN Booster Box opening and the contest you put out. I told my wife about the game and had her watch part of the same vid and she said she was really excited to try the game. As beautiful as the art is, I think what's neat to me is that it's cute but not lewd. While it could get moreso in future sets, it doesn't seem like it's the main focus at least. Nothing wrong with some risqué waifus but if it was too prevalent I can say we wouldn't be playing very long lol Thanks again for the vid!
Okay let's see if I can help! 1. Yes, though you can have an all red deck just as long as 1 of the lrigs is red :) 2. There is no overflow damage, as long as your SIGNIs power is greater than or equal to your opponent's, you win combat and thier SIGNI is vanished. There are special keywords that kinda do that (like lancer) 3. Yep! I mentioned this a couple times in the guide but a SIGNI whose power drops to 0 is vanished (goes into the ener zone)
There is 1 more consideration that I think the video did not mention: Most of the center LRIGs in the diva format (minus the new ones that were released in the latest Japanese set) have abilities that are active only if the center and assist LRIGs are from the same team. So in the example given in the video for Ange, her ability to activate and reduce the power of an opponent Signi by 8000 can only be activated if all 3 LRIGs on your field are from the Sanbaka team. It is not strictly a deck building restriction on your choice of LRIGs, but if you want to maximize your LRIG abilities, you are pigeon-holed into using LRIGs from the same team. Btw, this team restriction extends to some Signis and Piece as well. An example of a signi with such a restriction is Ars Filmal within the first hand drawn in the gameplay walkthrough segment.
@@L3goHorse I was just thinking the same thing. Also I want to know if you have all 3 of your signi field full, and your opponent does not attack any of them or get rid of any with spells. Can you discard some in order to play another?
@@theish9 IIRC you are able to ener-zone one of them per turn. Basically the ener-phase of the turn, you are allowed to either charge one card from your hand or one signi already out on your field. In addition, you can discard up to 3 signis from your field to your discard pile but you can only do this once per turn.
It's an original IP! There IS is a really good (and dark) anime and other novels/manga that came after. The first 4 seasons of the anime are legit. The Diva anime is not as good haha
@@RedZoneRogue Hey man, I just took a look at the JP sets and holy crap! They released a new set every 2 months! Is that going to be the same model here? Trying to figure out a couple things. I'm definitely playing the game, not just collecting. Do you see yourself as a player needing to get every new set that comes out? Next, I looked up prices for the WX-01 booster packs/boxes to see if they had increased in value over 7 years, but they had not: I found some on Ebay for a little higher than MSRP. Do you think this game is gonna take off here where it would be wise to hold onto any unopened boxes? Not trying to compare this to the big guys, but then again ppl do like their waifus :P Played my first game tonight using the Diva Debut deck against my wife using Niji Sanji. It's a blast to play! It goes really quickly considering you can knock out up to 4 LC in one turn. Looking forward to constructing our decks tomorrow. Opened our boxes and pulled 4 different PI, 5 different ST, 9 different SR and 1 dupe, and for our SCRs lvl 1 Center Ange and lvl 2 Center Toko. I was miffed that I was missing a couple of the lvl LRIGS to switch out my Center and Assists. So instead of buying another box to chase, I just ordered the missing ones as singles.
@@joyfulnoize6958 I do know certain sets are much more valuable and rare than others - it all depends on the cards inside. With that said I'm not giving investment advice since Japanese card games are a different beast than western games. I do think Wixoss is the best anime style game on the market but who knows if it'll take off? I also know we are going to be catching up the Japanese release VERY FAST. Like, a release every month until we catch up or so. You don't need to buy every set, just the ones for the LRIGs you like and just buy whatever singles you need. To get a full playset it's about 6-8 boxes.
@@RedZoneRogue Awesome, thank you for the replies. Is there somewhere to see what the upcoming sets are going to hold? Also, I would imagine you'll be letting us know which are the sets to grab as they come up, so I'll stay tuned for your vids. Everybody is going crazy for Weiss Schwarz right now, but this just blows it out of the water just because it doesn't use stills from anime.
@@RedZoneRogue And while the complete playset is about 6-8 boxes, I was able get almost all of the L variants, most of the SR, 4 pieces, and at least 4 copies of every C and R besides maybe a couple. Not that I know of in the US yet...one store has reached out to me but they haven't started selling yet. There's one called www.wixosstore.com/ but they're not US based
@RedZoneRogue having ordered two lovit//dissona phantom beast diety from them, they aren't to bad if you can't find what your looking for on tcgplayer (though tcgplayer now allows listing of wixoss, not many sellers are listing it yet, and those who are for the most part, have very little listed) hopefully more tcgplayer sellers will catch on to this game being worth getting into selling
I go over it in detail during the gameplay portion but essentially you use cards that are in your ener zone by placing them from the ener zone into your trash (you can ener charge once per turn during the ener phase. Signi that are vanished are also placed into the ener zone. There is also a ramp "ener" keyword too)
Nice, I can't wait to learn a new game! You may have mentioned it before, but do you have a link to a site where I can buy the starter decks, and maybe a box?

Where do you find English Wixross?
I get mine on Potomac Distribution right now!
Takara Tomy? Interesting
It's celebrating it's 7 year anniversary too!
@@RedZoneRogue Definitely considering picking up some decks!
And by the way, I'd love to chat about your video making process sometime if you'd be open to that
Are the cards Japanese size or standard size?
Standard
Why are there so many cool looking games and why can’t they all just be free lol
🙂👍they are cute cards!
"A comprehensive guide" well it better be if im watching a 40 minute video lol
Being honest, if I can’t rip people’s wifus into small bits with hyper werewolfs this might have to be a hard pass on the theme…
Every card is an anime girl, even the werewolves haha 😄
@@RedZoneRogue Oh no XD
I'm glad to hear there are good woofy girls though!
k
Wow it's hard to follow
looks good but i refuse to support censorship so they won't get my cash.
They've only censored 1 card so its not bad at all, nothing else has been touched
@@RedZoneRogue one so far, but it's not a good sign if they will do it once they will do it again.
@@neko791 perhaps, but they left some very spicy ones so we'll see. Still one of the best playing and best looking anime games on the market imo!
Never heard of this before. Is it pronounced "Weak sauce"?
