Love the FAB content, Professor! While I’m not all that interested in F&B, I hope The Calling events go well for the fans of the game. I think MtG (mostly Hasbro) needs some competition to kick it in the a** and wake them up.
@@golem001px I’m going to presume based on your syntax and spelling that you’re not a native English speaker. So, I’m not going to be a prick and jump down your throat, because I don’t think you understood what I wrote. I didn’t say F&B would kick MtG’s ass; I said that WotC needs a kick in the ass, which of another way of saying they need motivation to be more competitive. WotC has reduced support to the competitive scene and LGSs over the past few years and shifted their support to places like Amazon. It’s mostly a tactic implemented by soulless suits at Hasbro that don’t really care about their products, customers, or subsidiaries as long as they’re making increasing profits and pulling in big bonuses. Healthy competition from a player-focused game like F&B can force Hasbro to retract some of their anti-consumer edicts and make MtG a better game. That’s what my post means.

I started with FaB a few months ago, and have been flabbergasted by how much fun I am having with the game. Sealed is tons of fun, Constructed is very deep and interesting (guy at local RtN used an Axe Dorinthea build), and WOW the community. Or at least my local community is amazing, we've grown from a couple to dozens of stores running events and ppl meetup almost everyday to jam games. Will not be going to Vegas sadly so may miss my chance to meet the Professor, but he helped me get into this wonderful game. Will be at Dallas though, looking forward to meeting more of the community!
"It's been 2 years and it's still growing." Key Forge didn't last that long, did it? I guess that's a really good point! I know FnB is getting popular at my LGS. Maybe I'll give it a shot after all.
Keyforge is still going. They cancelled all their 2021 events in the beginning of the year because of uncertainty if the events would even be able to happen, but announced events would resume in Spring 2022. New expansion for the game dropped in May so while FFG has cut down their OP a lot from what it was a few years ago Keyforge, I'd have to think that by now they would have announced if they were just going to kill the game and scuttle their event scene. I live in Taiwan where we didn't shut down until May of this year and the game is fairly popular locally.
All my local LGS's are talking about it, and have fans who want to play competitively and casually in and around the stores. They've invited me to try, too!
Tbd305 always has bad takes about this game. He comments on every Rudy video about FAB. He’s one of those MTG player/investors that feels threatened by the game due to personal reasons so hopes that he can inject pessimism into the market and make it “catch on”. None of his criticism are legitimate or come from a neutral perspective.
My partner and I love magic the gathering and have been planning to move to New Zealand for a couple years now. Being an incredibly thoughtful gift giver, my partner picked up the katsu and bravo starter decks as a birthday gift when the game first came out. As someone who got into the game a few months before the huge wave of popularity, I gotta say it’s an amazing game and the Professor was right on when discussing all the criticism and controversy.
I recently got to play Flesh and Blood at the UK Games Expo (obviously whilst being masked up and ensuring to keep hands clean at all times possible), and it is incredibly fun! I picked up 3 of the 4 monarch blitz decks (my cousin bought the 4th one), and there were some custom precons made by one of the people selling it, designed to be able to play vs the other blitz decks! I love how almost all of the cards can do everything, it's just incredibly fun! Pair that with the fact that it's so much cheaper than MTG for competitively viable decks it's so nice, and makes it a hell of a lot easier to get into! This game is so much easier to understand, and tbh I want to try cracking packs to build decks out of them from a box, just for fun! That's the biggest thing for me - it's fun.
I am going to my LGS tomorrow for my first time playing the game after listening to some of the magic players I play with talk about it over and over again. I bought a starter deck and they gave me some extra commons and rares to look at incase I wanted to update it at all. after doing some mock hands and realizing how much I actually have to think more about what I am doing I am super excited for it. here's hoping I gain a new hobby.
Flesh and blood has almost overtaken magic at my local gameshop.. So I started playing flesh and blood. I dunno how I fully feel about it yet, but I hope I grow to greatly enjoy it
My game shop used to have different MTG games throughout the week. Now it seems they only have MTG Commander once a week and Flesh and Blood 4x a week. With a couple Pokémon days.
| work at an LGS and I'll admit that I haven't been very interested in FaB until this video. I decided I'd grab some packs and blitz decks that day, and now I'm hooked! Opened 9 boosters (3 WTR, 3 ARC, 3 CRU) and pulled an Arcanite Skullcap! Now I'm working on a Levia, Shadowborn Abomination constructed deck...
Yeah. The key is their support/focus of tabletop and LGS . Which are big qualities to me. Also love their calmer pace of extensions: 2/year is perfect. F&B here I am !
I normally skip the flesh and blood vids on this channel, but I found this quite enlightening and even useful. Still not ready to expand my game repertoire, but at least a little curious.
My face lit up when you mentioned Vanguard. It's my favorite card game but my locals just took it off of their tournament lists as of a week ago in place of flesh and blood :(
As a long time Vanguard player, Fab has very similar fundamentals to Vanguard at least the original game. But much less variance, definitely worth a try.
@@xahjk A friend of mine convinced me to try it. In the process of learning the rules and deciding what class would best suit my Deletor or Nubatama playstyle haha Seems to be a very in depth, difficult to master kind of game and I'm all for the semi complicated rules

What I have generally heard about FaB is similar to your analysis. This is why I decided to try to get into it. Having been an on-again, off-again MTG player since '95, I think this game addresses some of my concerns with MTG. It is also nice it seems to support both collectors and players. Sure, I would love to have a card that is worth thousands, but also nice to have it available in packs as if it is not. I still have a chance at reasonably getting a great card to enhance a deck (just bought my first booster box and got a rainbow foil Mask of Momentum).
Honestly, I am one of those in the skeptical department and still am in a sense. Though your video definitely helped put some ease to mind and definitely want to pick up two blitz decks to try at the very least so that I can make my decision from there.
I've been playing Magic (and other CCGs) on-and-off since Unlimited. WoW, Battletech, Netrunner, Keyforge, Cthulhu, etc. I'm always skeptical of games, especially CCGs. I honestly did not expect a modern CCG to grab my attention and be fun to play as much as Flesh and Blood has been. It's a very fun game that's playable with inexpensive Blitz decks. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It really is fun and interesting!

I think what people might mean is 2 fold as a starting out from scratch and trying to dive in tournament play it can be but alot of people have reservations for the fact they are most likely already invested heavily in the big 3 pokemon magic Yu-Gi-Oh and those have stood the test of time every else has fallen to shambles in there wake probably because all new tcg want to try to pull investors first and players second is why people think it's expensive is my best guess look at the metazoo fiasco at the moment normal people can't get product unless your rich
Been rocking Chane at my local Arsenal events the past month. He is the first deck I've built. Still learning the finer points of the meta game, haha. I'd love to go to the Vegas Calling, if I could. Might have to try for Cincinnati, since that one's closer. 😂 And as always, I love your in-depth analysis of the game, or any game for that matter. I'm sure the outtake wasn't supposed to be in the final edit, but seeing it made me smile. I've had that same frustration when doing multiple takes. Seeing one of the best in the biz have that same energy, gives me hope for the future. Thanks again for all that you do.😁
yeah Flesh and Blood has caught on at my local card store and its in the middle of nowhere. i remember calling to ask if they had it last year and they never heard of it and now they have shelves stocked with it! and they sell their booster boxes for $80! you really cant beat those prices especially since magic is getting more and more expensive
I loved watching the pro tours. Remember that pro tour in Seattle for the second zendikar set and they built that massive eldrazi tentacle that came up out of the ground and it was crushing that police car? Man those were good times. Great video professor!
I think Flesh and Blood is the best card game since MTG. I have only been playing for a few months but the community is amazing. On Sunday I went to a Road to Nationals in Orlando that had 50+ players
Ive never played the game or seen it played, and I don't really want to commit the effort to learning a ton of new game pieces and rules, but I expect it to do pretty great if they can run this event schedule smoothly. There's such a massive audience looking for that experience that really I think the game will live or die by the strength of its production and event teams.
yeah i looked up Flesh and Blood in the middle of the pandemic and freaked, now the game is super duper cheap and i have this VIDEO to thank! Thanks Prof!
I think this is actually pulling people towards the game- they see it's financial viability longterm thanks to the collector boom of the pandemic and also its relatively cheap entrance with the unlimited sets.

James white did mention in an recent interview that higher rarity cards (like tunic) are intentionally equiptment because they can be more expensive due to a playset being only 1 card and players not needed to own more than 1 to make a deck complete. With that being said lss has shown they will reprint a card if its so widely played as they did with tunic (printing in both the 1st and 3rd sets).
A lot of the unlimited legendaries have been dropping in value too, so it's just a matter of time I suppose =). I think if they hit about 60$ each its accessible for everyone.
Agree, I have no idea what FaB even is, but if they're willing to print their cards such that all players can access them in some reasonably costed if less sexy way, then they are doing more than Hasbro is for MTG. There are many cards in MTG that are legal in their respective formats that have unique and extremely powerful effects for which no tournament-playable printing exists at a reasonable cost. Super well thought-out and level-headed video. I'm happy to see you trying to clear up misconceptions that have been blown out of proportions, while still giving honest critiques at the same time. The Internet needs to take note: this is how you do it.
I want to see FaB succeed, I feel like it would really healthy for the TCG community to have another game competing for popularity, especially one that’s supporting its players the way it is now! It’ll force companies to make their game more appealing to bring people back. As someone who’s played both MTG and Cardfight!Vanguard, I’ve wanted to have a diversity in the TCGs available.
I will definitely be buying, and trying FaB for the first time soon, this video convinced me on it. I wish I could see you in Vegas but alas, it’s a bit far from Canada. I hope to hear about the event going smoothly, I would love to see FaB start showing up at my LGS!
I just want to say that I absolutely felt the "DAMNIT" in my soul.
I watched that like three time. Hilarious !
Haven't heard of this game until now, I'm gonna go to my LGS tomorrow and pick up some blitz decks!
The blitz decks are surprisingly strong! a great starting point for sure!
@@SirRabbit Which Monarch Blitz decks do you suggest?
@@tanjiro2991 which ever hero you think looks the coolest? Haha.
Otherwise, Chane or Prism are probably the best bets. Though Levia is my personal favorite
I just started playing this last week and I'm getting sucked in quick. It clicks with me way better than mtg or Yu-Gi-Oh. The way you can pick a hero and just build that one and not have to worry about all the other cards that come out is nice.
The work the company put into the lore is exciting as well.
I'm thinking about starting lol
As someone who maybe one day wants to get into making RUclips content, hearing the "DAMMIT!" and seeing little editing imperfections gives me the most hope in the world because even professionals are still making mistakes! Have loved your content for years Prof and hopefully for many years to come!
The fab community is growing in my area. We have healthy events every week and have a group planning to attend our nearest Calling. I think the game is just starting to come into it's own and will only grow.
Professor, this was great! I've been skeptical about FAB due to all of the chatter, but you make a compelling argument. I'm gonna see if I can pick up those starter blitz decks to check it out.

I've got a really sweet aggro Dash deck that I think would really be your speed. 😁

I actually got into flesh and blood due to your first video about it, i think you posted it quite a while back (maybe a year or so)
The game is really fun and i wish more people would play it. nice video
FaB is very fun, even as an amateur. I am not good at it, but I enjoy playing it. I bought a 1st Ed Monarch box and I don't regret it. If I don't want to sell it, it's a solid draft party for $99. The Blitz decks are fun too. I picked up Boltyn.
These videos got me and a buddy to dip our toes into FaB with the Blitz decks and now we're obsessed. Such a good game, keep the videos rolling out!
Just bought a starter deck and a booster box last week! It looks like a ton of fun, and its nice that they seem to be learning from WotC's mistakes.

Love the FAB content, Professor! I stopped playing MTG in 2011 or so (whenever the new phyrexian/innistrad blocks ended, iirc), and haven't been playing any TCGs until Flesh and Blood got on my radar. The prices still have some room to come down with their having added 2 additional printers, but I'm not at all angry to buy a few really expensive cards that I only need one of while the rest of my deck is essentially all commons/rares (with a few majestics thrown in as needed depending on the deck/hero).
While I’m not all that interested in F&B, I hope The Calling events go well for the fans of the game. I think MtG (mostly Hasbro) needs some competition to kick it in the a** and wake them up.
Jajajajaja asking this game tu kick wizards **s? Jajajajaja you could as well ask a legless person do the same
@@golem001px I’m going to presume based on your syntax and spelling that you’re not a native English speaker.
@@Aldrnari956 Wizards already has competition. it's called Hearthstone. That's where Wizards is putting it's energy in the form of new sets geared only for F2P title Arena

As usual your points are spot on and empirically provable. You're the best, Prof- GLHF at the Calling! Brb, bout to binge all your FOB vids!!!!

Excellent analysis. Thank you for this. Our local playgroup is slowly growing and I absolutely love seeing people I've played Destiny and Keyforge with finding their way to FaB. It's easily one of my favorite games.
Minor editing error in the 9th minute. Looks like a section that was meant to be cut wasn't so it repeats the same 20sec or so. (Just a heads up, great vid)
Also 18:30 or so has a wonderful "damnit" cut :)
Haha I love it

I just like that the editor fell asleep.
No need to point it out I think. Must be hard to keep and maintain this kind of content. A lot of work. :) Be gentle to others. Do not mind the blunders. This guy gives us great advice and content constantly!
The first take which begins at 8:20 is the one which should have been cut since the professor said "$100 a pack" rather than "$100 a box".
Once again. Dead on point. I wish all people could be this level headed and thoughtful with everything. Keep up the good work good sir! I'm off to buy my first batch of FAB!
This game is definitely still on my radar. I think one of the shops in my area is going to be starting events for FaB soon too!
Coming back to this video after having watched it on release to say I have played in a FAB Draft over the weekend and I greatly enjoyed it. I'm working on making the deck I drafted into a constructed powerhouse. I've been watching all of your content and this is one of the videos that helped me pull the trigger on a draft.
That swear just raised the value of this video for being a rare variant. Expect an ebay listing soon.
Also, Prof, consider it a testament to your professionalism and character that a minor slip like that has your audience giggling in amusement.
Keep up the spicy brews!!!
"It's been 2 years and it's still growing."
Key Forge didn't last that long, did it?
@@tbd3058 local player numbers have exploded the last two months but sure
@@tbd3058 bad hot take not supported by data
All my local LGS's are talking about it, and have fans who want to play competitively and casually in and around the stores. They've invited me to try, too!
Tbd305 always has bad takes about this game. He comments on every Rudy video about FAB. He’s one of those MTG player/investors that feels threatened by the game due to personal reasons so hopes that he can inject pessimism into the market and make it “catch on”. None of his criticism are legitimate or come from a neutral perspective.
I really liked seeing you mess up a line. Shows how hard it is to get the takes that you do and it was funny and genuine.
As a vanguard player it made my day to have the prof acknowledge its existence
What deck you play mate ?
Amen brother
My partner and I love magic the gathering and have been planning to move to New Zealand for a couple years now. Being an incredibly thoughtful gift giver, my partner picked up the katsu and bravo starter decks as a birthday gift when the game first came out. As someone who got into the game a few months before the huge wave of popularity, I gotta say it’s an amazing game and the Professor was right on when discussing all the criticism and controversy.
Keep sprinkling in bloopers. That was pretty great 😂
I recently got to play Flesh and Blood at the UK Games Expo (obviously whilst being masked up and ensuring to keep hands clean at all times possible), and it is incredibly fun!
Crucible unlimited just released, I’ll bet Tunic drops some as people start cracking packs
With a couple Pokémon days.
so, whats the update. I am thinking about trying it out too, so I just wanted to ask how its gone for you!

Yeah. The key is their support/focus of tabletop and LGS . Which are big qualities to me. Also love their calmer pace of extensions: 2/year is perfect. F&B here I am !

As a long time Vanguard player, Fab has very similar fundamentals to Vanguard at least the original game. But much less variance, definitely worth a try.
@@xahjk A friend of mine convinced me to try it. In the process of learning the rules and deciding what class would best suit my Deletor or Nubatama playstyle haha

That's super reasonable. And if you don't like it, at least you gave it a fair shake!
I've been playing Magic (and other CCGs) on-and-off since Unlimited. WoW, Battletech, Netrunner, Keyforge, Cthulhu, etc. I'm always skeptical of games, especially CCGs. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It really is fun and interesting!

Saying that Flesh and Blood is too expensive cause of the 1st edition tunic is like saying Magic is too expensive because black lotus exists.
I think what people might mean is 2 fold as a starting out from scratch and trying to dive in tournament play it can be but alot of people have reservations for the fact they are most likely already invested heavily in the big 3 pokemon magic Yu-Gi-Oh and those have stood the test of time every else has fallen to shambles in there wake probably because all new tcg want to try to pull investors first and players second is why people think it's expensive is my best guess look at the metazoo fiasco at the moment normal people can't get product unless your rich
that's just false lol

I loved watching the pro tours. Remember that pro tour in Seattle for the second zendikar set and they built that massive eldrazi tentacle that came up out of the ground and it was crushing that police car? Man those were good times. Great video professor!
I always love hearing your thoughts and opinions on the game, and would absolutely l've to see more FABcentric content on your channel
It is part of our big 4 CCGs/regular CCG events. MTG/Pokemon/Yugioh/Flesh and Blood. We love our gamers!

We just held a 16 person Prerelease for FAB Uprising. We have had regular turn outs every Sunday for FAB games for the past 6+ months.
