@@bobjones4469 Well, maybe not for a full booster set, but Ironmouse/Nyanners/Silvervale in their VILLS apparel seems totally enough to build a deck around.
Great Video!! Just a quick clarification, current WIXOSS JP starter guide actually has the same design as the one English version is but I agree on the clearer design, we don't need dark mode in a guide.
It looks like one of those games you buy one set of to keep on the shelf and hope someone visiting gets bored enough to humor you with it lol I bought a few games like that lol
Unfortunately sounds like you over paid for the starters. Idk if you LGS was trying to recoup costs for shipping and distribution but they generally hover around $10 +/- a buck or 2 online... Excited to see Wixoss getting more love though!!
My man throwing down a brief intro to V-Tubers in the process of talking about a card game...this is exactly the cultural cross-pollination I enjoy, thank you Kohdok.
"WiCross finally has its English Release!" Me: ah that's cool! I've kinda always been interested in this card game I just can't read Japanese lol- "Anyway here's a Nijisanji collab structure deck for 15 dollars" WELL THEN.
One thing I really don't like about the english translation is that the fontthe use and icons are very very tiny, I see Japanese cards and they don't seem to be so tiny, is so hardto read the english cards and the cost of things.
“The Lrig deck is a bag of tricks you always have access to” So it’s an extra deck and Lrigs act like xyz monsters that you rank up throughout the game.
The Wixoss english release is reminding me a lot of the original Force of Will release in how it's cheaping out on the west version while charging just as much while also only releasing in a very small amount of stores, which is not a good thing cause that release died REAL fast.
@@OmegaKatanaXIII it's company went under and got bought out, then the community got pissed at the changes, I haven't heard much of it since, but the original release which was before it's modern interpretation and when it had Life Break mechanics was... weird.

They’re even bringing over all 5 trial decks too so that’s interesting. For those curious, it’s a deck each for gen 1-5. Gen 0 is in the actual set itself and gen 6 and the English girls are a part of the second set we will hopefully also get
I remember watching the original WiXoss anime. It was pretty good, soundtrack was good. Plot was good. I appreciated the show for being more than just a fancy advertisement for the physical card game. Speaking of the card game, I don't know how I feel about the support LRIGs, if they mostly have on-play effects just like how an arts would have. It probably works better in practice than in theory.
Love the game but yeah... When I first learned I was pretty bugged about the rules being on the back of the playmat. So we just played without the mats and had it as a reference on the side.
Great video as always Kohdok! Love your content man! I love Wixoss! I watched the anime and got interested in the cards, and lo and behold, I imported a few decks XD. Would love to get some of the English ones, but most game stores around here (Brasil) only have the big three (MTG, Pokemon and Yugi). Someday I will acquire two deck.....someday.
Do you know if they have a website where you can find local stores that play and sell Wixoss? I've always thought it looked interesting, but I don't know of any stores near me that would even be willing to stock it.
I think the reason why Tomi is bringing Wixoss themselves, is probably because they don't want anyone else to mees up the disruption, translation, or heck changing the rules entirety (Like how Topps changed the rules of Hyper Coliseum when it appeared in America.) But that's my theory.
The mechanics are interesting, and I like the anime art. I'm just not so sure about the waifu's. I'm not against them mind you, but in my area even the weebs are prudishly anti-waifu. So you know...cant really play if no one ELSE likes the game.
As much as an anime fan i've always been, i'm not too big on the modern trend of cutesy anime character card fight games. kinda silly, and a lil creepy IMO. But the card backs are BEAUTIFUL !!!!
still undecided on this game. FYI Nijisanji deck is old deck, not a new one. theres four new decks that came out in december and supposedly another two in march
Saw the game (and the first season of the anime) years ago and thought it looked cool. Still really like the card design and the mechanics look interesting but this popstar theme is really not for me. Would have for sure have bought some if they translated the earlier sets.
I'm not a big fan of games that takes anime like this: they have to show off the anime girls with barely any clothes, and I'm screaming inside "GET SOME CLOTHES ON YA NUB!", It's what makes me not play certain cards in yugioh and shows in the anime, and I say this while liking Ace Attorney, but the pink girl goes to jail and does not return so I say that's a win.
WiXoss has what I like to call the Arcana Heart problem. The game is fun to play and has interesting mechanics, but it's completely made up of anime girls (some of which wearing some questionable attire). It can be a major turnoff for many people, especially when these types of games/cards are generally associated with the sweatiest guys at the shop
Yeah it’s why I felt it never came here to the west. Waifu games never tend to do nearly as well because it only appeals to certain types of people and even then there’s a subset that wants to be one of the few that goes into the waifu thing. Essentially a lot of sweaty guys tend not to like to be around mostly sweaty guys. Japan is an odd exception especially as plenty of girls flock to waifu games over there. You kind of need variety for a game to survive here in the west. Also I’m pretty sure some arts can’t come over uncensored in certain countries. Other card games got into trouble over that even. I have my doubts this will get far but hey, I don’t really care if I’m wrong
OK in defense of the practice of only include in a single mat with the rules on the back, this might be because I’m coming from Yu-Gi-Oh and that game you don’t like perspective , but When I was starting out (Or in yugioh Case getting back into it During the pendulum Period) I was recommended to buy three of the Yu-Gi-Oh (The monarch one) and two of the game you don’t like one(Chrono jet) and the issue solved itself, Granted I can understand if you think new player should only get one starter deck rather than two, I understand my playgroups recommendation isn’t automatically universal or apply to every single Tcg/ocg, and someone who is trying to be as light as possible on their hobbies spending can’t have that luxury even if the deck are affordable because multiplying it by two or three can increase the amount of money they spend drastically
Love to see Kohdok content and I wanna clarify that this video is an interesting look at this game you've mentioned a few times but ngl the aesthetics for this are... to put it charitably I'm gonna say "dogshit"
I need to recommend a product overview of Monster Club. It needs help and everything about it just seems so wrong. Nothing about gameplay seems aberrant in any form, it's the product marketing. There's no evident rarity system, all products are only available for purchase online, and it doesn't even seem like the game was ever playtested, having a "balancing system support" listed on their products. The booster sets are split into a 56 card set box and booster set of 54, each containing different cards. The starter decks are priced like a MTG planeswalker deck and only contain 3 extra cards in addition to one full deck. The rulebook has been updated for the first time just this year, and the game had begun selling since (from what I know) 2019, and I can't tell if their products even contain it. It's absurd.
