    I'll be interested to see a long term review of the Dakota Lithium + 315Ah battery. Keen to know if they are durable.

    Love the Dakota 280 amp hour that I installed in my build. Great battery no issues. We need this here in Canada! lol .. self heating.. expensive but well worth it!

    Well, everything is a blance of feature/cost/weight/funcion. I don't expect that to change
    Thoughts on roof mounted solar - Many of us attempt to find shady spots to camp in (difficult in places like the SW) The problem with rooftop solar is that if you want it to work, you don't want to park in the shade - and specifically you'll want to aim your truck south as much as you can. Portable has an advantage there - but they're a hassle to store/setup and to be really flexible, you may need long cable runs which, unless you spend a lot on wire (and added weight), results in voltage loss, and so potentially some efficiency loss.

    Great video and thorough walk through of the set up. You ain't lying about install time plus recording. It is always a struggle for me. Do I make a video or just get the job done.

      That's an awesome project! Definitely check out the Dakota batteries if you need a lot of power and don't want to take up a ton of space. Although with an entire bus to work with, space might not be a problem!

    $2400 for a house battery?!?😮 Thats crazy! I will agree Renogy customer service I'd not the best, but Ive been running their dc todc charger, battery, and solar panel. Zero issues in 5yrs. And the dc to dc charger charges my starting battery with solar after the house battery is full. Something the other manufacturers didn't offer. It comes with an external temp probe so it can smartly charge the battery based on its temp. I also have a Victron charger in my other truck. I still prefer the Renogy. Oh and they have a 400ah battery also with heater that is the same price as the battle born 315ah

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 месяца назад +4

      Yeah Renogy make good stuff, but it's no use if they don't send it to you. Lol. The restocking fee they charged me ended up being around $200! Thankfully I bought through Amazon, so Amazon gave me credit for the restocking fee towards buying it again.
      I didn't see their 400Ah when looking, but it seems to be pretty good value right now since it's on sale for only $100 more than the Dakota. It is still quite a bit bigger though, so wouldn't fit where I've got mine. The size is really Dakota's main selling point.

    Nice walkthrough and I really like your system. Do you know the average watts used for starlink after things even out from startup? I work a lot from the road and am a bit worried that I may not have the solar to keep up with the draw. Work on the computer about 8 hours a day so that has a pretty good draw even with the current cell router I have now. Have a 280 ah batt , so fairly good capacity

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  Месяц назад

      It’s typically around 100W, but can go up to around 200W or more if there are obstructions.

    22:17 I'm planning on adding power to my SHW Off Road seat delete when I get it. Would you happen to have a link for the outlets you used in the seat delete? I was planning on using just DC but why not run AC if I got it. Thanks for your help and great videos as always!

    Interested in how the Maxx air fan works out! sure its going to work with the camper up? Rain? pretty sure they are designed to work horizontal,, as I said interested to see.. cheers buddy

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 месяца назад +1

      Yup camper popped open, so it’ll be at an angle. The way they’re designed means it would have to be really windy for rain to blow up under it, and if it’s that windy, I won’t need the fan!
      The biggest problem I’m dealing with at the moment is placement. The ideal spot has a structural crossmember right through the middle!

    Wow, when did Dakotas prices jump so much? I saw SOK has a 280ah heated for about $900 right now.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 месяца назад +1

      Dang, that's super cheap! They're a similar size and heated too. Are they any good? I struggle to trust batteries that cheap. We have a couple of similarly priced LiTime 200Ah heated batteries and unfortunately their performance isn't close to what they advertise.

    • @ace95835
      @ace95835 2 месяца назад

      @RevereOverland I have a pair of 100ah SOK heated batteries in my truck. They're completely reliable so far (1yr of use.) The only down side is the lower max draw. I haven't had an issue yet, but I did the math, and if I run everything in the truck at once, I'm right at the limit.

    • @RevereOverland
      @RevereOverland  2 месяца назад

      That’s good to hear. It says up to 200A for the 280Ah, which most people aren’t going to come close to.
      The biggest problem I had with my cheap LiTime batteries was that they’d cut off with high current. They said up to 200A too, but they’d shut off far below that and then I’d have to disconnect everything to reset them every time.
