Two questions, how would you know if the flex pipe needs to be change? Would there be a code using an OBD2 sensor? Also do you need to warm up the bolts next to the front catalytic converter next to the O2 sensor? I’m asking because I don’t have a torch
Well when flex pipe brakes it would leaks and car would be making loud noise and yes heat up the bolts so they don’t snap
Thank you I had new gaskets and it seem to have a little leak and didn’t wanna snap a stud wasn’t sure what’s a good sealant to use
I use this black tart that’s used for roads it work well
Was only the flex pipe replaced, or the cat also? And can the flex pipe cause a bit of loss of power like a bad cat does?
I’m looking at a car with the po420 code, it has an exhaust leak, I’m suspecting the flex pipe, but I think I notice a slight less power than it should have. So prop a slightly clogged cat…
The whole thing
Hello thanks for your videos. I have an 04 Camry that has smoke coming out of the exhaust for a few seconds on a cold start. Any ideas why ?
What color is the smoke Usually it wouldn’t be problem but camery dose have issue on burning oil
@@RBTheMechanic I want to say white but it could be blue also I’m not sure. I would have to check again. I topped of the engine coolant and checked the engine oil it was a little low. The car doesent over heat
@@johnsmith67854 ok check to see what color it is make video if u can
@@RBTheMechanic ok will do. Thanks for the advice!
Thats regular for camry
Brother great video
One question how many catalytic converters are in this gen Camry?
One
@@RBTheMechanic
Ok thanks man
@@RBTheMechanic
I thought there was another catalytic converter after the exhaust manifold before the flex pipe
@@Mm.2112 some cars have after burner catalytic what year is ur Camry and engine size
@@RBTheMechanic
It was built in May 2003 in Japan, 4 cylinder 2.4 VVTI
I have a 2006 Toyota Camry.. does this have two catalytic converter’s? One that has to be welded in the back in order to be replaced? Im not a mechanic he said , mechanic he could replace the front catalytic converter but couldn’t weld the back one? He was a mechanic working out of his garage. The sensor keep going off after he removed the catalytic converter, I watched him. Replace it. Car was making loud noise and barely accelerating before he repaired it. I am wondering about the welding issue? And the error code.
I would get direct fit
Also even tho the code p0420 is calling for bank 1 sensor low efficiency below threshold it can still be the downstream sensor
Yup it can
@RBTheMechanic how many recommended miles a car has to be driven before smogging it
@@RBTheMechanic also thank you for your help
@@mr.kreyol1-900 welcome!
The flex flange on my 08 Buick lucerne opened up and threw a p0420 code, l replaced it with a walker after market flexpipe unit with the new cat looking similar to the 1 you replaced in vid, after clearing the code & driving 2wks I threw a p0420 again, any ideas? Rear 02? Its non ca emissions car. The p0420 code is the only code I'm getting.
Try replacing the rear oxygen sensor… however make sure u got the correct emission catalytic
@@RBTheMechanic thank you for responding back! I just rechecked volt values on rear o2 it never drops below high .900s at idle but increases a little with more rpms. Shouldn't this be reading .4s .5s or lower at idle of 800rpm? I also subscribed o your channel.
I also rechecked the converter is correct according to Walker exhaust for Fed emissions car as mine is.
@@Mitch-nz2iz oh ok yeah sounds good could be I tntermediat faulty O2
@@Mitch-nz2izit's a bad cat how many kms ?
Hi I Have A Question About The Bolts, Washers & Nuts. Is Everything All M10-1.25 X 25MM?
No mix and match u need to get set
@@RBTheMechanic Ok So, What Do You Mean By No Mix And Match And Need To Get Set? All I Need Is The Right Bolt Pattern With Thread Pitch, Lock Washers And Nuts.
Can anything besides the cats and exhaust system trip P0420
The oxygen sensors can
I don't have a torch. Do you think a heat gun will get the bolts hot enough?
Go buy the mini torch it’s like $50 worth it I doubt the heat gun will do the magic job
@@RBTheMechanic Holy crap, I see walmart has a benzo matic for like $20. Thanks
Heat gun won't do it. Get a Bolt Buster magnetic heater. Avoids the problem of the torch damaging other parts. Worth every penny.
2002 toyota camry le 2.4 4cylinder
P0420 code they say i have to catalytic converter exhaust manifold catalytic converter upper.and a pre cat under the car...im confuse whuch to replace help...had oready replace all the sensors .hellp.geat video's how can you tell wich catalytic is bank 1?
Yeah that’s always an issue u can run the car and go for a goood long drive and then use temp infraid gun and see what’s the temp if after car is more hotter that 1 catalyst then mostlikely it’s the issue but how ever I would replace both
@@RBTheMechanic Is there an O2 sensor after the second converter? If not (the second converter is unmonitored) and wouldnt likely cause an 0420.
Just get a new flex pipe welded on to the existing it’s like 80 bucks
Not out here !!! Like $400-$590
@@RBTheMechanic just had it done in Cali 80 bucks
Unplug the sensor don't twist the wires!!!😮😮
It’s fine. If those wires need papering like that. Then u can’t even move them around and have engineer look at it while ur transporting it
RB do you know whats the od exhaust pipe is 2" ?
I think i need to do this job soon , but just replacing the flex pipe but im not sure about OD dimensions .. Thx
I’m not sure u need to measure it
@@RBTheMechanic Thx buddy
So I have a 03 camry le 2.4L I changed the upstream sensor and the cat and I'm still getting a check engine light any suggestions
Replace the down stream sensor as well that’s usually the one that give faulty siginals for catalytic code. By the way did h look in to correct emission catalytic?
@@RBTheMechanic no
@@RBTheMechanic how can I find out which cat I need
@@mr.kreyol1-900 call the dealer parts department they can tell u with vin number
Ok will do also the code I keep getting is p0420
Would this work for a 2007 Toyota Camry?
Diffrent part but somthing similar
