Got a P0430 code on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Added 1 bottle of Cataclean to 1/4 tank of gas cleared the code and drove for around 50 miles miles. The CEL and 0430 code returned. I ran the jeep to get the gas down to1/8 of a tank, added a second bottle of Cataclean and cleared code with scanner and check engine light is out. Been out for over 200 miles. During the cleaning process, I also drove at Highway speed and made sure I hit the gas a couple of times to get the RPMs high as I drove. The Jeep passed inspection and I also noticed increased gas mileage!!! Stuff Works!!!! Thanks for the outstanding video!
Got a P0430 code on my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Added Cataclean to 1/4 tank of gas and drove for 40 miles.. cleared code with scanner and check engine light is out.. also noticed increased gas mileage!!! Stuff is 💯 Legit!!!!
I have a 10 Gallon tank meaning 1/4 tank is about 2.5 gallons. May I ask what size tank yours is because I have a feeling I should use a little less. Thanks!
Hey I’m curious, did the problem pop up again? Sounds like it works in many experiences but others suggests it’s only a temporary fix and in the end you’re still going to get another check engine light in the future. What was your experience?
So I had an issue with my ford fiesta zetec 1.6, it was the egr valve and it pushed it into limp mode. Long story short. Garage tried to scam me by saying it needed replacing at a whopping cost. So I left it. I waited and returned to same garage. Ironically they forgot about me from the previous time. This time they said oh it only needs cleaning at significantly lower cost.. They used the all in 1 version of this. Cleared the codes. And it never returned. And for the next 2yrs. I never had this issue again. And then I sold the car on. With a clean bill of health. This time my newer car, has a problem with the particulate matter sensor. Which is near the dpf essentially they help each other regulate the fuel and exhaust systems (including the egr valve). With a yellow engine light. Same garage for a laugh quoted me over 500 for a fix, because and I quote 'it's awkward to get to'. I'm obviously not going to use them, and will get a second opinion. And a bottle of this and run my car down. Then add, I hope after that the engine light will go. And stay off. I hope this helps. Because cleaners do seem to work. And I'm a nobody, who is literally learning how to fix his car bit by bit by himself, so I don't get shafted money wise. @@austinnash123
This stuff does work. But you have to use it as it says. The 1/4 tank part and driving afterwards is very important. 1 part they dont mention is that it helps to drive the vehicle with more of a lead foot then normal. Dont drive it like its the last lap at of the 500 but get the rpms up which will in turn heat up the system and force the crap out of cats and exhaust aswell as increase the injector latency and duty cycle. This stuff, seafoam and crc maf cleaner are 3 of the best products on the market for people to save hundreds if not thousands on stuff that can be done at home in 30 min
Hi, I have a 2014 toyota corolla and my check engine light is still on. I poured it in while the gas tank was on the line before empty. Any help of what to do next or what I did wrong because I followed instructions?
@@sitbone3same, mine went away on it's own, too...BUT, it only worked for about 2 years & then it would no longer make the CEL turn off & I was just throwing $$$ away on Cata-Clean @ that point...I ended up having to get the cat replaced anyway 🤷♂️
Thanks for being honest. No dealership or franchise autoshop will ever, ever tell you this. To anyone that needs your cat check, go to a private auto shop with recent 5 star reviews in your area, I have three and they all recommended the same, my dealership said 2 -3k to replace. Not once did they mention anything of this. LOL! Yes, my code went away, unbelievable. It was Chevy dealership.
My local smog place just recommended me to use this since I failed smog on my 97 4runner. Last time I had to pay the special smog ($200) to get it to pass but I wanted to try and see if I'd pass this time. I was super close but off by less than 1% with how many PPM's I was emitting. I'll see if I remember to check back in after I smog it again. No CEL's or any codes before either.
Had a p0420 code on my 2020 Chevrolet Trax, took it to mechanic and got quoted 1300 dollars bill. Watched this video bought the cataclean followed the instructions, cleared the code. I've driven 100 miles so far and no light. I'm happy with product so far and do recommend if you don't want to pay that bill
Wow, that's a fairly new vehicle to be getting that code already 😮 Hopefully it's just an O2 sensor but if not, I would start saving up for the repair anyway. Eventually using the Cata-Clean alone will stop making the CEL go away, trust me on this!
@@CorneliusWilliams-ft5lh On a 2020 vehicle, a P0420 DTC, if indeed it is an issue with the CAT, would be covered by the federally mandated 5 year 100,000 mile warranty.
Update: So I tried it and it really worked! At least for long enough for the car to pass emissions and be registered. Then after 200 miles the same check engine light with code P0420 came back on. So I have to say the fact it went 200 miles before coming back on was very impressive and makes me think it helped clean it a bit because in past it would come on after 40-50 miles . This 2003 corolla has over 250k miles so im sure theres a lot of carbon caked on in there! Im gonna run another treatment of it through and we are going to run one bottle a year in our toyota van also as preventative maintenance in hopes it prevents us from ever having the same issue. So while i was skeptical at first,, In the end im quite impressed and for 27 dollars it was definitely worth trying it and Id recommend it. In addition the car accelerates better too so it ay have also cleaned the fuel injectors. And hopefully with a few more treatments enough carbon will be cleaned out of the cat and the issue goes away.
Scotty Kilmer recommends 1 gallon of lacquer thinner in the gas tank with 8-9 gallons of gas. Drive for 100-150 miles at highway speeds and that worked for me on 2 different cars. Check engine light has not come back on.
Had a cat code on my 2000 suburban, (60,000 miles) had it checked by my mechanic who gave me a quote for 1,600 to replace both cats. Used this product, i cleared the code. It's been 5,000 miles with no cat code. This stuff works.
I used whole bottle with about 1/3 tank of gas. My engine light went on yesterday and threw the cat code. My car is a 2019 5.0 GT mustang with a Roush supercharger. I drove 20 miles after adding, fueled up afterwards and the code went off after I started it again. Sweet. I didnt even have to use my reader to turn it off.
I have a car that has been having issues with the catalytic converter getting clogged and then the check engine light comes on. I was told about CataClean. It worked so well, that after I bought it, I got into my car, set the bottle down in my car and started the car, the check engine light went out. This has happened both times that I’ve bought CataClean. It works that well. 😂
Buying a 2016 BMW 328i this week. Have watched this shops videos and very impressed with their honesty and simplicity!!!! Too bad all shops aren’t this upfront and try helping others instead of putting screws to people!!!!
AMEN TO THAT,BUISNESS PRICES GO UP IN COMPETITION WITH OTHER COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES...YET THEY DON'T SEEM TO REALIZE OR COMPREHEND ,PEOPLES HOURLY WAGES AREN'T GOING UP💡💡💡🙄🙏✝️
I have a 2020 Malibu RS, and my ✅️ engine light came on yesterday afternoon. I saw a review on Cataclean and admittedly was skeptical. NO BS....this worked!! I didn't use a code reader as i went ol school and just disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes. The smell resembled something like thinner. I did add premium gas this time, and i typically use premium every couple fills.
@Hyperborean_2 glad I saw this. The car has been perfect since adding. However, the car is at the dealership now for 2 wks due to an engine code for the turbo. The ECM basically threw it into a lymp mode. Was still driveable, but it was slower. Thankfully, the warranty is still covering the $1500+ repair. Just hit 50k miles, and it's been an awesome car till this point.
@@JTMoney333 thanks for replying good man. I have similar milage on my 2018 Malibu and the engine has been perfect so far (2.5L N/A - middle east specs); the only downside is sluggish acceleration from 2nd to 3rd (when I floor it) and I'm thinking to make a move with Cataclean. Overall I'm happy with this car. Blessings!
@@Hyperborean_2 it's nice that many parts are not that expensive for these vehicles. At least in the states. I'm about to do the front brakes soon as it's still the originals from 2020.
It works 😮 I had a check engine light on, reading the lambda sensor fault. I've put the cataclean into the tank, done few miles, stopped at the shop, came back, started engine and check engine light off by itself 😮 I didn't believe it will work, but it does 😮😊
Im gonna try this product and pray it works. My 1st cat is throwing that code, and also my car will go in limp mode if im going up a big mountain, if it gets up to 3100 rpm's. Already put maf sensor, new timing chain, new valve cover gasket, new coil pks and new plugs in it. It idles perfect and no misfiring anywhere. When it does go in limp mode, it dont cut off, but it will get down to about 20 mph. I pull over, cut the car off in like 4 seconds, start it back up, it resets all the lights that come on when it went into limp mode, and i take off again.
@@jonrasmussen2815 I sold it. It was a simple wire ! I bought died cause everywhere I took it, nobody Said it could be a freakn wire, but I told them all that that wire I found with blk tape bout to come off , guess I'm a certified mechanic now,,, ' RITE",,😄
I drive a 2018 Ford Transit 350. I get the P0420 code once in awhile, I put in a bottle of Cataclean with about 3 to 4 gallons of gas, run about 25 to 30 miles then put in highest octane gas I can find and fill up. Code goes away after 2nd or 3rd drive time. It works.😁❤️🇺🇸
Hmmy car is having similar issues but it's very random doesn't happen up hills all the time. I hope it's something easy already checked all the ignition coils and all that stuff. Ughhh. Which wire was it maybe it will be the same one.
I have an ‘03 Mercedes CLK 320 with 197,000 miles. I used the cataclean at a quarter tank drove aprons for about 20 minutes and refueled. Then I disconnected my battery for a few hours and now the light gone. I will now drive to build data and hopefully pass my smog. This was such a help😩🙏
Update…….i still haven’t passed smog lol. Driving dirty baby. It’s my catalytic converter. I used 3 bottles over the span of a week and had no success😭
Got code P0420 2014 Expedition, saw this video and purchased cataclean. Truck was on quarter of tank with check engine light on. I put cataclean in at Autozone parking lot and sat and revved engine for 3 or 4 minutes and the check engine light turned off. Drove for 20 minutes then put 91 shell in it and drove 100 miles. Noticed a slight increase in power and a slight increase in mpg. But no check engine light came back on. Will update later if any significant changes happen.
Daughter's car was really sluggish. No codes but +25 LTFT. Ran a bottle of this. The NEXT DAY she asked what I did, and said all the power is back. LTFT were down to +15 with ST strongly negative. Amazing. I'm sure it can't fix genuinely clogged cats, but wow...
@@EddieGarcia-f6q quite the opposite the only reason germany cars are often in mechanics shops is because of to many sensors detect faults at even slight change and parts are much harder pro replace by owner and need special tools
if the vehicle does not have mobility for whatever reason, instead of driving it for 20 minutes to blow out impurities, can you rev it to 3500 rpm for 20-30 minutes? is there a specific reason to be at quarter tank upon dilution? If it is at half tank, what if someone added 2 bottles instead of one of cataclean? (questions viewers might have for certain situations)
Used cataclean on my daughter’s 2010 accord…check engine light cleared itself 41 miles after I filled the tank…dealership told us we needed a new cat and wanted to charge us 3k…I’m a huge skeptic but I saw it with my own eyes…may not work for everyone but it did for me 🤷♂️
As far as I know catalytic converter works neutralizing exhaust gases through a hot chemical reaction because of the compounds of what it's made of, so, you cannot clean that, so I believe what you're actually doing is cleaning the fuel system, fuel tank, valve seats, injectors and ducts, cleaner fuel system, cleaner combustion, better readings.
The reaction in the converter is enabled by the precious metals in the converter and they are NOT used up. That's the point of a catalytic reaction, the catalyst enables but is not consumed. If the passages that the gases have to travel through to contact the catalyst get clogged, then there is less surface area for the gasses to contact the catalyst and thus less reactive operation, resulting in the "inefficient operation" P0420 code. If the passages can be cleared of carbon deposits, then it will continue to work properly, as long as the structure is not damaged, cracked or broken.
No, your catalytic converter is a honey comb shaped piece of metal that exhaust passes through. Exhaust gases contain soot the builds up on the metal. Physically clogging the air passage the gas must pas through. Cataclean and other such cleaners are solvents that can pass through the explosion in the combustion chamber and attach to the metal in the catalytic converter. Seeping into the soot and and breaking it down so it can pass out the exhaust.
any addictive ie cataclean, Liquid moly etc are not bad for some reasons it’s good, but You need to balance between the Gas and those addictive things, Because they can Contaminate the O2 sensor too, after use you have to clean up the sensor and always use quality of fuel and Driving habits has always been so important
Evening gentleman! I ran across your video about the oxygen sensor ( O2S ) on my 1998 Infinity Q45t 8 cylinder. My question today is should I try this before replacing my sensor O2S?
My wife has a 2009 Jeep Rubicon. Needed to get an inspection but the engine light came on. Bad Cat... so... I asked the mechanic if I could just pick up a replacement cat. He said you can try. So I found one for 230 bucks. Oops, not for this Wrangler. (built in California)(very strict ) It has 4, yes 4 cats, 2 in front Left Right, two in the rear Left right. The right front was giving the code. I said well can't we just replace that one ? So I checked with a local dealer shop. They said you have to replace the entire exhaust on that vehicle. It comes all in one piece. Oh crap... Well how much is that ? $6500.00 WHAT ?!?!?? Good thing I was sitting down. That doesn't include labor. We can't afford that. So being there was only a week left on the current inspection, I did some research scrambling and discovered CATACLEAN. It has to be worth the try. I did it. the product worked clearing the engine light. Took it back to the mechanic and he says WOW. Passed inspection. Unfortunate after a month the engine light came back on. Time to order more. With the engine light on, my wife can't remote start. Being it is a cold winter here on Long Island, and she heads in very early to work, I will have to maintain her ability to warm up before going out into the freezing temps. Thanks Cataclean, you saved us. several thousand dollars. But now I gotta buy more. (sad).
I’m here because I work at an auto parts store doing some research on this but what I’d like to know is what if I can afford to put two bottles in my little Nissan rogue 2016 not that I have a check engine light I just wanna clean it. ????? 🤷♂️
Well... I wouldn't. It's not about Cataclean, but overall. I didn't have any issues, but thought that I would clean my fuel system and added two times Techron fuel system cleaner. Now after that I have Catalyst converter efficiency codes sometimes. Before that - never. So, do not add anything if you're doing good, can be that you will not after that.
I use the stuff on my old Acura TL. It works every time so I pass emissions every time. I recommended it to friends but I don't know how it works. I still haven't found any videos how this stuff works so well. I just want to know if it's really cleaning the CAT or effectively hiding the issues.
Used a similar product from NAPA in 2021 when my 2013 Ford Focus @ 70K miles threw a P0420, the dealership cleared the code for me and told me it was the cat. Dumped an entire bottle in my tank and it never threw the error again until I traded it 40K miles later. Did it work? Seemed to have.
My newest acquisition is a 2007 Xterra. It has a lot of stuff needing fixed (i knew some of it, going in) but i didnt expect the CEL to be because of an ailing Bank 1 Catalyst. Now, i am having my local service center do the repairs (Im not a mechanic!) I cant afford the quoted $1600 per cat they quoted me, at least not for awhile. But heres the thing: when i asked them about CATACLEAN, they said, "We've never heard of this product. DON'T USE IT." Well, i dont have a choice; nobody is willing to clean or repair the cat, and im not willing to have it gutted. SO. Cataclean it is. Hopefully it will stabilize the cat until i can replace it!
Tried this product twice in my 2018 Nissan Altima. Each time It seemed to help slightly, cleared the code and drove it maybe 20 -30 miles then the check engine light came back on.
Tried this for a Honda Pilot. It worked great for the smog check and about 2k miles. The P0420 came back. I think this is just a temp fix for emissions testing.
Catalytic converters are not supposed to get clogged under normal operating conditions. A fuel additive may help to unclog the converter. But, if you don’t fix the condition that caused it to clog, it will happen again.
I see all these comments about did the light come back. I believe you gotta find the source of the problem first. like what caused the cat to malfunction in the first place. Bad fuel injectors, leaking head gaskets, ect. Then use this stuff and see if it comes back. If you dont fix the source, then even replacing the cats could just be a temporary fix.
Exactly! Putting in additive and clearing the DTC doesn't mean much. A P0430 can be cleared, and may not show up for a couple hundred miles, or even much more, due to an underlying issue. And an intermittent issue DTC will clear itself (pending, etc.). I'd want to see live data streams of pre and post CAT O2 sensors, and fuel trims, before and after using an additive.
Cats have degradation after 100000 miles, this works well , all the data stabilizes on 02 up and downstream , and any smells go away , yes if car has issues like injectors , oil past rings , bad carbon , it won’t change that . But it does minimize carbon like seafoam , and it does work , I’ve used 120bottles in 3 years on lots of donated vehicles and never had issues . All ran significantly better and for lots of miles . I have 460000 miles on my 4 runner , 2nd set of cats at 260k and my cats were out other day and look new , I was using this product when I first replaced them with oem Toyota cats . I’ve used this and seafoam and have had nothing but great improvements and nearly next to no carbon in motors and or exhaust ports clean after 100k miles . Def works
In the process of waiting for a 2009 Honda Pilot results. Had codes P0420 & P0430, on a close to empty tank filled it up with a similar brand called Dura Lube and filled up the tank. That's really helpful that you have that live data scanner that narrowed it down to a specific oxygen sensor. I remember when I used to work at a small car lot, removing and cleaning the oxygen sensors with a grinder would also help clear the codes at times.
Update: I put it in as instructed and drove about 20-25 miles. Filled my tank back up and drove alot more. Check engine light remained on the whole time. I erased the code. Went on a drive and it popped back on really quick. Went to a shop to hopefully at least pass emissions, nope didnt work. I will say, I got better gas mileage the first 50-75 miles but other than that, no help.
My Volvo xc60 2012 has co420 and Co430 and lasted for long time can’t pass state inspection, I went dealer and charged me 200 dollars and told me need to replace Cat. For 8000 dallors. And I visited a specialist for Volvo shop. Same thing changed 200 dollars and told me change CAT. For 6000 dollars. Robbing me and I found one Volvo shop has a great reputation and the mechanic was from Sweden, nice and humble man, he told me treat use premium gas and Cat cleaner, follow the instructions and running on highway.actually I have outed 6 bottles for nothing. So follow his instructions I continued to use the cleaner and filled shell brand premium. Yesterday I found the engine sign was gone and went car shop to try if it can pass, fortunately it passed the state inspection. I don’t know if it still appears, but right now I can buy stickers and avoid the police ticket.
I got a p0420, was getting 8-9mpg, ran one of these bottles, and two three weeks later lacquer thinner. now am getting around 19-22mpg. Code still showing, so might run a few more through
Ok, my 2006 V8 engine runs like a dream and don't have any codes but the gas mileage is trash as expected. I'm going to try this just to see if it helps with it. Wish me luck!
Lets use a little logic and rationality about this. The computer in the car is doing everything it can to make sure you have 100 combustion no left over Combustion products In the exhaust. We know this is a complex problem but it's related to how well the ground is, how new the spark plugs are and how well they are set, and how good the coil packs are doing, how clean the injectors are along with many other factors. When things are not exactly right you may have one or all of the combustion Chambers will bleed a little bit unburnt fuel out into the exhaust causing buildup of carbon. The catalytic converter was designed to finish burning this unburnt fuel. The taking the ground terminal loose and then putting it back on might disturb the corrosion around the ground just enough to get you a slightly better spark. On most cars this also resets the computer so it starts out afresh trying to get better combustion in the combustion chamber. Whenever my car has lower gas mileage I start messing around with things like replacing the spark plugs coil paks, etc. The sensors in the exhaust also have a lot to do with all this works as it advises the computer how much gas to squirt into the combustion chamber. If your car has serious problems like the spark plugs haven't been changed in 100,000 Mi or you got old coil packs or a corroded ground either at the battery or where the ground strap attaches to the engine or feeds the computer you might have just enough problem with combustion efficiency to throw your code. On the other hand if your spark plugs and coils and ground strap and everything else that gives you more efficient combustion are in Fairly good shape maybe just a little bit of cleaning of the injectors and cleaning a little bit of carbon off the sensors and a reset of the computer will get you to the point where you're not throwing as much carbon (unburnt gas) into the catalytic converter and your problem is better for another 10 or 20,000 miles. If your plugs, coil packs, ground and other items are all old or worn out, your engine will probably burn the gas less efficiently and this cleaner fluid will only give you a few days to a few weeks of no codes.
How come you claim to refill the gas at quarter tank but your gauge still shows quarter tank after your claim. Please don’t mislead people that follow you just for a few bucks
Right, Saw that. See how you get caught to really telling the truth. Its because they have a link on there video so they get some money for sponsor. Of coarse they will say everything positive that it works. Its all a sales pitch to make dollars. Especially these days
Idk why they only filled up to a quarter tank, but right before they said they drove off after putting the chemical in, it was nearly on empty, not up to a quarter tank.
I will try this, so 2-3 rpm for 3-4minutos. Do I keep my feet on the pedal for those 2-3min or release and go up and down? Sorry for the basic question. Ty 🙏
Just drive it around a little harder than you normally would, like accelerating faster and you don’t have to keep it pressed unless you’re in park/neutral so you won’t move and just hold it down
alternately you can run an alcohol air mix straight thru a catalytic converter after dropping the pipe down using a paint sprayer, the platinum in the unit will ignite the mix oxidising the buildup and burning it out when the unit gets really hot just beyond normal operating temp let it cool back down and repeat a few times checking results with a 20usd endoscope, after a few cycles and checking blast compressed air thru the unit to knock cinders loose
Curious as to what scan tool you are using to scan for the codes and get real time data. My wife and I have an 03 Ford Expedition and have a few issues including cat issues. Thank you for the tip. Be Blessed.
There are now sooo many to choose from. Brands like TopDon, Autel, Launch, Innova, etc., are all safe choices. If you don't need ECU coding and/or programming, and don't need a big 8" to 10" screen, I'd consider Innova's 5610. It's bi-directional, has real time graphing, graphing, covers most all manufacturer's, U.S. based real person customer phone support, and best of all, comes with lifetime software subscription! That can save you hundred$ a year. For $300, the 5610's functionality rivals most all tablet models that cost nearly $1k or more. The only (one) downside is the 5610 does not have a topology view. But this isn't a issue of functionality, it's presentation.
this product does work and will help to clean cats for passing inspection or prevent huge repair bill. however, the downstream oxygen sensor or sensor 2 only monitors the health of the cat, it does nothing for fuel economy. It might be cleaning the upstream sensors which does help with fuel consumption tho i cant be sure
Probably because lacquer thinner is designed for thining lacquer and not for being run through a cars fuel and exhaust systems. Whereas cataclean is solely designed and made for just that 🤷♂️
Used mine on Honda accord 2011 at a little less than half fuel tank( I know not 1/4) this was in the middle of a road trip so I drove lots and eventually refueled. Next day engine light was gone. Engine light came on yesterday, today engine light is flashing and car can barely accelerate much. My gas tank was filled at more than half line, I decided to completely fill it up and the car started accelerating properly again, only thing is that the code is still there but I guess I am gonna have get my cat replaced...
I had a po420 error code in my cobalt, added some Marvel Mystery Oil and took it for a 70 trip, cleared the PO420 code and it is running great with no codes.
I replaced my Catalytic Converter about 10 to 12 years ago. Last year january I barely passed the smog check. He told me I will need to buy a new Catalytic Converter before the next Smog Check. I'll try this stuff first! I have heard the 2ndary, NOT OEM Conveters don't last as long... but still 10 years isn't that bad...
O2 sensors should be switching high to low, a steady ready would be the faulty side. High to slow is it switch from lean to rich as it should. A steady signal means it’s seeing either bad o2 or cat is plugged
What kind of readings should i see can i send you what my reader shows i have p0301 and p0420 code and loss of power and shit gas mileage im trying to determine if its front 02 sensor or cat.. when bought car had to replace downstream sensor with ac delco front isnt ac delco i dont think but no 02 sendor code. Need help anyway i could get your info or facebook or something and send you my readings on my reader idk hoe to read all of them correctly
@@ashleyredden2201 Really unrelated DTC's. The P0301 is plug related. Could be a bad plug, plug wire, maybe even a coil. Fix that issue and clear that DTC 1st. As for the P0430, best thing to do is gather a real-time data stream on the pre and post O2 sensors with a scan tool. That will tell you a lot. And yes, it's best to match all the sensors (genuine GM / AC Delco). That just eliminates variables. I've had unreliable results using Bosch and Denso O2 sensors.
So, I accidentally ran my truck out of gas and got some pretty good shaking. I figure the engine was misfiring. Also, the exhaust pipe was vibrating pretty bad. I got it gassed up and, within a few hundred miles, I got both P0420 and P0430 codes. I'm thinking I got some oil, or something, into the exhaust and clogged my catalytic converters. I'll try cataclean and maybe some other fuel system cleaners.
Yeah used this disconnected negative cable did what the instructions said to do . No light for about a month .. Then the xheck engine light turned on again . . Maybe I neeeded to do a few times . ? Anyway had this Berryman B12 fuel cleaner laying around and trying it now .. Hope it stays off for a month or even forever a lot cheaper than cataclean LOL , Maybe I should've done like you guys run it high idle for a few minutes before running it ..
@p.h4439 it's cheaper than the other places I checked. And I just found out my odyssey was made in California so it just has stupid extra regulations and it's parts are like 5x the price of ones on other odysseys. I can't figure out if just putting a cat from a non-cal odyssey will affect us passing the DEQ test
Yes it did work at 1/2 a tank !!!! It’s been three months and light hasn’t came back on . I’m still going to put a new o2 sensor on it as well. It’s the original part
My 1.6 ford duratorq has some bad vibrations at around 1200 and 2600 to 2950 rpm. I cant find any cause other than it not being efficient at fuel delivery or the glow plugs dying so, i will dump some in my tank and see what occurs
My wife car has a catalytic converters problem and i do used many products to clean it out, it disappears ( engine light with code Po420) for around a week and come back so many times. I almost give up and think about take the cat out to clean it. But before that i see the video talk about use Lacquerthinner GML 170 and i tried it with half tank of gas ( Prius , around 4 gallons gas) i put completely 1 gallon of lacquer thinner in the tank and drive around until almost completely empty gas tank and filled up another tank , the engine light is gone. It happens u til now around a month, i don’t see the engine light come back .
I did a straight pipe and Cat delete on my E550 coupe (it has the 4.7 twin turbo if that's relevant), and I was wondering if this would still help as I recently had the check engine light come on for my O2 sensor. A friend suspects it's just because the sensor is no longer connected but I did also notice a decent change in gas mileage recently since the light came on that wasn't there when I had them removed over a year ago. Any advice on this would be appreciated!
I had codes indicating air sensor fore and/or aft and CAT itself. Used Cataclean and codes stayed gone for 3-4 months, 6-8,000 miles. Code came on for a day or 2 and disappeared on its own. I have another bottle to use if it comes back on. So, 3-4 bottles a year vs replacing the CAT? Yeah!!!
Cataclean skyrocketed recently in price, and now costs over $135 for three treatments. That adds up very quickly to the price of a new cat. I've tried it and never saw anything but very temporary results. Not worth the price.
I didn't have any luck with this product. Used it on my wife's van, as per the instructions.. More than once didn't do anything, check engine light is still on.
@@RobertWarner-p2f Resetting codes is NOT fixing the problem. If this stuff worked, the code would clear itself after a certain amount of run cyclers. That's how OBD2 works.
Did someone with honda that had p0420 code used this and it worked? Im having issues with it, already replaced both o2 sensors.... dont have the luxury for new cat. Did this worked?
Yes worked on my teggys wrecked cats. I drove with a blown headgaskek for a few months. Swapped my engine still had cat codes... added cataclean and boom no light ever came back.
Here’s the real fix you might want to run cataclean through anyway but to fix it permanently put a spacer on the rear o2 censor, technically it’s illegal but only a mechanic would notice
I have V.W. tiguan that has an engine light on after changing plugs and coils. I bought a bottle of this but I can't clear the light. I unhooked the battery for 15 hours and it's still on. Didn't even mess up the radio presets. Any advice?
Would possibly flame up . The molecules of the product , are released through the exhaust and through the cat. safely . But I will have to see if it works. No P420 code . But will see if it helps mileage.
What’s about a jaguar that needs a c converter, it’s it a 1/2 talk gas or 1/4 then do you refill gas after putting in the fluid then go to inspection? Should engine be off before inspection

Hey I’m curious, did the problem pop up again? Sounds like it works in many experiences but others suggests it’s only a temporary fix and in the end you’re still going to get another check engine light in the future. What was your experience?
What year is your jeep I have a 2008 gc will it work
So I had an issue with my ford fiesta zetec 1.6, it was the egr valve and it pushed it into limp mode.

I had the codes in the spring and just this product and now 12K miles later all is still good. 2007 X5 E70 3.0 engine, it works
How long did it take before the codes actually went away, your check engine light went off?
This stuff does work. But you have to use it as it says. The 1/4 tank part and driving afterwards is very important. 1 part they dont mention is that it helps to drive the vehicle with more of a lead foot then normal. Dont drive it like its the last lap at of the 500 but get the rpms up which will in turn heat up the system and force the crap out of cats and exhaust aswell as increase the injector latency and duty cycle.

All I have to say is that it actually worked
And hopefully with a few more treatments enough carbon will be cleaned out of the cat and the issue goes away.
its similar to getting the cat cleaned but the problem is still ther you need to replace the cat which is very expensive
Scotty Kilmer recommends 1 gallon of lacquer thinner in the gas tank with 8-9 gallons of gas. Drive for 100-150 miles at highway speeds and that worked for me on 2 different cars. Check engine light has not come back on.

It’ll also clean off the O2 sensors
How often do you recommend to use it?
2-4 times a year
Used a similar product from NAPA in 2021 when my 2013 Ford Focus @ 70K miles threw a P0420, the dealership cleared the code for me and told me it was the cat.
Surprisingly this product works really well, just follow the directions and save a lot of money.
I added a dpf cleaner to my tank, a 2008 mb sprinter. Worked great, then my high pressure fuel pump failed.
$2800. Ouch.

Should I pour it in on a little under half a tank
And you right good comment
you should have graphed rear O2 voltage before and after - and if 2 banks, plotted both.
😂😂😂😂
hope this works for me I was quoted 3500 for double cat converters.. It did go out before just from using 1 tank of premium gas so I am hopeful.
I will try this, so 2-3 rpm for 3-4minutos. Do I keep my feet on the pedal for those 2-3min or release and go up and down? Sorry for the basic question. Ty 🙏
Just drive it around a little harder than you normally would, like accelerating faster and you don’t have to keep it pressed unless you’re in park/neutral so you won’t move and just hold it down
alternately you can run an alcohol air mix straight thru a catalytic converter after dropping the pipe down using a paint sprayer, the platinum in the unit will ignite the mix oxidising the buildup and burning it out
when the unit gets really hot just beyond normal operating temp let it cool back down and repeat a few times checking results with a 20usd endoscope, after a few cycles and checking blast compressed air thru the unit to knock cinders loose
Amazon has them for like $50.00
I was told to buy this and I just used. My check engine light is still on. I poured it while the gas tank was on the line before it gets empty
this product does work and will help to clean cats for passing inspection or prevent huge repair bill. however, the downstream oxygen sensor or sensor 2 only monitors the health of the cat, it does nothing for fuel economy. It might be cleaning the upstream sensors which does help with fuel consumption tho i cant be sure
I tried the same procedure with lacquer thinner on my 2014 Dodge Durango. It didn't work so I'm a bit hesitant to spend more $ on Cataclean.
Probably because lacquer thinner is designed for thining lacquer and not for being run through a cars fuel and exhaust systems.
Whereas cataclean is solely designed and made for just that 🤷♂️
I just bought one and I going to try, I see other comment and it since to be working, thanks for your video, God bless ytou.
It works
Used mine on Honda accord 2011 at a little less than half fuel tank( I know not 1/4) this was in the middle of a road trip so I drove lots and eventually refueled. Next day engine light was gone. Engine light came on yesterday, today engine light is flashing and car can barely accelerate much. My gas tank was filled at more than half line, I decided to completely fill it up and the car started accelerating properly again, only thing is that the code is still there but I guess I am gonna have get my cat replaced...
Imma have to try this my 2019 kia soul check engine light came on.
And ran a scan thats what it is the Catalytic converter
I had a po420 error code in my cobalt, added some Marvel Mystery Oil and took it for a 70 trip, cleared the PO420 code and it is running great with no codes.
Added MMO to the fuel or oil?
@@cipriandobrea7369 I added to the fuel but I have used in my oil to clean the engine also.
@@cipriandobrea7369 I added it to my fuel to fix my PO 420 code. I do believe it can also be used in oil to clean the engine.
I replaced my Catalytic Converter about 10 to 12 years ago.
Last year january I barely passed the smog check. He told me
I will need to buy a new Catalytic Converter before the next Smog Check.
I'll try this stuff first!
I have heard the 2ndary, NOT OEM Conveters don't last as long... but still 10 years isn't that bad...
Did it work?
When I get a chance I go buy some this stuff & see 👁🗨 works ???
That might work on an engine thats not burning oil, if it is burning oil, the cat will plug up even if you get it clean.
Can you buy this at Auto Zone or O'Reilly's.... ?
O'Reilly sells it
…and WalMart.
I'll try cataclean and maybe some other fuel system cleaners.
tank to injector line takes time to start Cada cleaner, about 30 miles.
this was awesome. good stuff. no bs. well done
Thanks. I will try this as I have error code on my Toy Sienna.
You sound like the most British person I’ve ever heard in my life, and I’m British haha ❤️🇬🇧❤
Shoot…. do they make footwell module clean?
I was quoted over $6k to replace both cats in my odyssey. I'll definitely try this first and pray for the best.
6k to replace both cats is outrageous, find yourself a new mechanic asap
@p.h4439 it's cheaper than the other places I checked. And I just found out my odyssey was made in California so it just has stupid extra regulations and it's parts are like 5x the price of ones on other odysseys. I can't figure out if just putting a cat from a non-cal odyssey will affect us passing the DEQ test
Use more bottles and good gas running long trip on highways and hope to saving the CAT.
Oh snap! Okay. I just put a fuel injector cleaner in and filled up my tank. Should I let my tank get to half, then add the cataclean?
According to this guy you let it get to 1/4 tank and add the whole bottle. drive 10 to 15 miles and then fill your tank up.
I just put in my Altima. Will update after I use tank of gas
Hello, I have an Altima. I’m curious to know if it worked for your car.
Well?
Well did it work in your altima!
Can i use Seafoam after doing this? Like is there a certain time or gas cycle i should wait on?
Yeah!!!
Didn't work on a 2019 Soul, two bottles so far and runs up and down I-75...still on...
O2 Voltage is supposed to vary. Your Diagnosis is for people who don't know what they're looking at
Cataclean skyrocketed recently in price, and now costs over $135 for three treatments. That adds up very quickly to the price of a new cat. I've tried it and never saw anything but very temporary results. Not worth the price.
I didn't have any luck with this product. Used it on my wife's van, as per the instructions.. More than once didn't do anything, check engine light is still on.
Same
Do you clear the codes ?
Unplug the battery and drain all electrical stuff and then hook it back up and drive it.
Yes.
@@RobertWarner-p2f Resetting codes is NOT fixing the problem. If this stuff worked, the code would clear itself after a certain amount of run cyclers. That's how OBD2 works.
@@FredCookLive
Ok, I think you're correct but, I usually reset it to try and see if it works or not.
How many mile were in that Beemer? I got an 08 x5 with the 3.0 212k miles. Just got a po420 and po430 code today
So I gotta pour the whole bottle on 4 gallons of gas ????
Did someone with honda that had p0420 code used this and it worked? Im having issues with it, already replaced both o2 sensors.... dont have the luxury for new cat. Did this worked?
Yes worked on my teggys wrecked cats. I drove with a blown headgaskek for a few months. Swapped my engine still had cat codes... added cataclean and boom no light ever came back.
Did you use oem sensors sometimes you have to aftermarket ones sometimes mess with the resistance and numbers and will throw codes
Here’s the real fix you might want to run cataclean through anyway but to fix it permanently put a spacer on the rear o2 censor, technically it’s illegal but only a mechanic would notice
Drill the space out, too.
It worked for my bmw 740i. Glad it did 😂 because I know this repair would have been expensive
Is your car still running good?
@@johncovarrubias5586 yes
@@johncovarrubias5586 yes but it never ran bad. Just a check engine light popped up

After I drive for the 15 20 mins and need to refuel, how much gas do I put it?
Fill up!
I have V.W. tiguan that has an engine light on after changing plugs and coils. I bought a bottle of this but I can't clear the light. I unhooked the battery for 15 hours and it's still on. Didn't even mess up the radio presets. Any advice?
You need to get yourself an OBD-II scanner. Even an inexpensive scanner (around $50) should be able to reset the check engine light.
Huh 🤔, battery disconnect a minute will do it ????
is it safe to put the cleaner direct into the Catalytic Converter through the 02 sensor hole
Would possibly flame up . The molecules of the product , are released through the exhaust and through the cat. safely . But I will have to see if it works. No P420 code . But will see if it helps mileage.
*NO! that wont help, you should inject 1/4 gallon of eggnog into your own hole. that'll shut it up real good*
@@bitshtannicajohnson6957🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What’s about a jaguar that needs a c converter, it’s it a 1/2 talk gas or 1/4 then do you refill gas after putting in the fluid then go to inspection?
Should engine be off before inspection
