- Have you heard, or been told that the King James Bible is the only way? Maybe you think you have to get the Bible your Pastor uses but you just don’t understand the words. First of all, you are not alone! I FEEL YOU!
My desire is to educate you so that you can make the best decision for you. Why? Because this is your own relationship with God. And God desires for that relationship to be intimate; which means you understand Him and He understands you.
I’m sharing some strategies I learned earning a second degree studying the Bible, understanding the Bible translation spectrum and what is the best Bible translation for beginners. AND, most importantly, what I’ve learned from walking this out in my own life. SPOILER ALERT - I’ve switched translations of the Bible many times. I pray you receive what the Holy Spirit has for you in this!!

Thank you for this video. I have been taught to always go word for word for best accuracy. I do believe that is correct counsel. However, I have become so paralyzed in what version of the Bible I should make as my main Bible that my consistency in reading has been greatly hindered. I do read everyday but I have never read through the Bible cover to cover due to this issue. I do not know how to break that stronghold! UGH! I do read the NASB, NKJV, LSB versions and they are very good for study. But as for a relationship, nope! I may try the NLT just so I may relax in my reading and enjoy GOD, Himself! Maybe that is my problem, I haven't learned to ENJOY my reading the Bible. I use it for study only. I pray that others will be blessed by this video as I have been. Thank you again!
I am so glad this gave you that nudge from the Holy Spirit. The fact that you're "STRUGGLING" means you haven't given up! I have much more content to help you with this. Come find me on Instagram @kaelaprays and check out the HOW TO GET YOUR BIBLE READING ROUTINE BACK video here! You got this! God loves you right where you are. He hasn't left you. 🙏🏻❤
Same here!
I feel like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders! I’ve been using the ESV because it’s the “right Bible for studying” instead of the NLT even though I prefer the NLT. The NLT just feels more comfortable to me. It feels more like home. Thanks for (in a way) giving me permission to use it.
YESSSSSS!!! I am so so glad you received this truth! I'm an NLT girl myself for my time with God daily. I'm actually going through the Book of Matthew right now chapter by chapter day by day on my channel. Come hang... *with your NLT 😉❤
I like to stick to the translations that are word for word translations, KJV, NKJV, are the ones I stick to. The Dynamic equivalent translations just don’t maintain the level of accuracy and context I prefer. Just one example is the NIV. When Jesus tells the disciples they couldn’t drive out a demon and He said, “this type can only come out by prayer and fasting.” The NIV omits the word fasting. That is wrong to assume doing that is okay.
I learned that the ESV is the best for me. I was doing a study in my NKJV bible and looked up a video on a chapter and they had ESV text and it was eye opening, and I compared the same text to the NKJV and it just went over my head AGAIN lol
I absolutely LOVE THIS!!!! Finding which one is best for YOU! You put in the effort and found it (for this season at least 😉). Well done! Keep going!
Thank you Kaela this was very informative. I personally have many translations for clarity.
that's awesome! I have many too 😉 I think it's so important to give the truth in education and then we can choose which is best for each of us in each season❤
Thank you so much! This helped me understand about the different Bible translations. You explained it so well!
You are so welcome. God bless you 🙏🏻
thank you for this. God bless you more.
I pray you received some education and maybe even som freedom from this video. God bless you
@@hiswordmywalk i have watched your video about 4 simple shifts in reading the Bible consistently…
and after watching that i am so blessed and inspired. then i decided to order a new Bible since the one Im using is already tearing apart..
i ordered that same Bible you are holding in that video. i got 3 of it. it’s for me and my family.
God bless you more.
I LOVE my NLT ...... (my brain just can't do the KJV).....I was drawn to read the bible cover to cover in 2017 as well......I just read it everyday.....the biggest thing I stopped as well was.....READING other books that tell you about the bible....I have learnt so much
When you find the translation that works best for you, it's a game changer, right!?! Well done!
Thank you!!!! Everything you said was for me…at this moment in my life. I, first, watched your video containing the four things needed to be consistent in the Word. That, too, was a word in due season. I enjoy listening to you. There’s something about you.
Praise God! 🙌🏼 Thank you so much. Well, come on in to my channel. I've been sharing daily through the Bible one chapter per day and there's been a pretty incredible community coming together. I would love for you to come on in.
my answer to this question is the one you will read!!!!
that's always a great way to look at it ☺
This is a great video, thank you for making this!
You are so welcome. It's so important to know the truth and be able to choose with understanding and education!
I love your wisdom! The bless your work.
God bless you! I truly believe there is so much freedom we can receive with the proper wisdom, not just 'the way it's always been said or done' ❤
I always just worry about what we have truly lost from the original text. I just have to pray that God will guide me in correct direction. God bless!
God bless you. You're right to ask God to guide you. I would love to encourage you to see what we have truly gained 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you!🤩
you are so welcome. I pray you find the translation that is perfect for you in this season ☺
Thank you, some are so difficult to understand. Me and my husband's home language is Afrikaans but he prefers to read from the Amplified Bible and i read the English Standard version. Nothing is so frustrated if you read and read and do not understand what you are reading.
I completely agree. I love that you and your husband have found your individual preferences for this season too.
This was sooooo good! Thank you so much.
Praise God! You are so welcome!
Your reply came right on time. I was hoping to find a wholesome channel to watch today and couldn't remember the channel I newly subscribed to: YOURS. 😊
@@platinumbranch2056 I love how God does that! If some glitches could fix, there will be a brand new video uploaded today as soon as it stops spinning. Stay tuned 😉
Excellent!
God bless you!
Thank you so much for this video & the one before that I have just watched…I was brought up a Catholic with no bible, what the nuns taught us in boarding school that was it!! I have bought myself the Amplified bible, tell me what you think of it. I am taking your advice to make that commitment every day.
I saw your video for the first time today & have subscribed….I live in Cape Town South Africa.
Praise God 🙌🏼 I am so glad you are here!!! And, well done! Your desire is honored! Come join me on my channel. I am going through the Book of Matthew day by day, chapter by chapter right now! 😉 As for the Amplified Bible - it's a great choice, one I use as a resource often. To be honest, it's been known since I was younger, I don't like birthday cards with a lot of writing (if that gives you an idea of my preference when. it comes to the Amplified lol). However one of my best friends uses it almost exclusively!!!! I hope to see you in the Matthew "study" ☺❤
Thank You
You are welcome. I pray this teaching gave you some fresh insight, and maybe even freedom.🙏🏻
I have them all. NLT is my favorite
It's my favorite for my daily reading in this season right now too. There's a chance that shifts, but right now I'm an NLT girl too 😉
I will explore the NLT thought for thought translation. I do appreciate your passion and found your insight very motivating.
I’m kind of a snob stuck on KJV word for word translation primarily because scripture warns against adding or subtracting from scripture like it says in Deuteronomy 4:2. I don’t understand why verses would be omitted from newer translations, though I have an idea with some newer translations.
So translations isn’t the problem for me but omission of verses like these is:
Mathew 23:14, Matthew 17:21, Matthew 18:11
Mark 7:16, Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46, Mark 11:26, Mark 15:28
Luke 17:36
John 5:4
Acts 8:37, Acts 15:34, Acts 24:7, Acts 28:29
Romans 16:24
I totally understand your thoughts here. I love that you called yourself a somewhat "KJV snob" hahaha ☺️ As for "missing verses", the historical truth is that as time has gone on, more evidence has been found. And the fact that the Bible has how many verses, like more than 31,000 verses in the Bible, and through translations (which are all based on historic manuscripts; not based on one another), and only a handful of 'discrepancies' if we want to call it that, I think that actually proves the validity of the Bible as a whole. ☺️ I found an incredible article that may give you some more insight on this too: AND, either way we go with translations of the Bible, we are brothers and sisters in Christ 🙌🏼❤️ www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/topical-studies/missing-bible-verses-niv.html
What other tools do you use to study and understand scripture in more depth. Concordance, commentaries
Study guides from other teachers.
Thank you for your contribution to helping me dig deeper
I am currently going through Matthew in 30 days with you. LOVE IT❤️
I'm just getting started again in reading the Bible daily with your help. Thank you for all your videos. So motivating and inspiring. I had already bought The King James Study Bible second edition. As a "beginner" what are your thoughts, will this bible make it easier to understand what is being said? Thank you please any recommendations welcome. It is a hard cover so not all that easy to carry with me to worship services so if you would recommend another I would be more than willing to purchase another. Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Oh this is amazing! Well, I'm so glad you've watched this video. It's totally up to you which translation you choose. In my experience with helping others, and myself, as a beginner the King James can be daunting as there are so many words that I don't use in my own every day language so I had to stop to look up so much. Here's my recommendation. Join me on my channel in Matthew, or Acts as I'm sharing every day. In Matthew chapters 1-14 I literally read the entire chapter to you from the New Living Translation before we discuss. Follow along in your King James Bible and do an analysis of which you prefer, or which makes you want to keep reading on your own. And know that you can use both, and you can change your mind in different seasons of life. There's an answer without an answer lol. Kind of the way I've been teaching hahahaha... I'm so glad you're here ☺️ PS. if you like the NLT that I read, the one I have is linked in the Matthew & Acts descriptions 😉
I just subbed. Love your channel! I'm 64 and new to reading the Bible. My first was KJV, I couldn't understand it and gave up. Then I got a NKJV, but that wasn't much better. Then a friend at church gave me an NIV study Bible and I LOVE it! Then I got a CSB to bring to church, because that's what my pastor reads from LOL. Then this past Christmas I got the Jesus Bible in ESV. I keep comparing it to my NIV which I'm still studying in every day, and it just doesn't have the comfortable feeling of the NIV. I'm thinking the NLT might be a good one for me. I like the NIV, but that's probably because the study notes are right there that make everything so clear. I'd like to find a translation that is so clear without having to look at study notes, that I will just understand it on my own. Which translation do you think would be a good fit for me? One I already have (like ESV and give it more time) or NLT or something else? The only one I have heard is not good is the Message, and that's only NT and psalms and proverbs anyway. I guess I would like a clear to understand Bible without study notes, so maybe it's not so thick and bulky and is more portable than my huge life application study Bible.
Another thought. What do you think of the Amplified?
First of all, your commitment is honored ❤. You have to examine for yourself. Join me on this channel for the entire month of May as I read through Matthew one chapter every day and talk through it. I'll be reading from the NLT so it will give you a taste. As far as "The Message" goes, it is not a Bible translation. It is a paraphrase written by one man. So useful as a supplement and as a resource but it is not a Bible. ☺ You are doing GREAT! Release any pressure you're putting on yourself.
@@ReneeW59 I have an amplified Bible that I use as a reference every now and then. I don't like birthday cards with too much writing on them, if that gives you some insight as to my reading of the Amplified Bible 😉
@@hiswordmywalk I already subscribed. Looking forward to it! I had The Message. My dog tore it up ... I threw it away LOL
Charity is a great word. Chosen on purpose. Pragmatism says what works for you. Study means work. KJB stands alone from all the rest. Translated from pure manuscripts not corrupted ones from the Catholic Church. You seem sincere. Joshua 9
I stopped going to church as a teenager. Only recently have I taken steps to make my way back to Jesus. I was raised on King James, but was shocked to learn that certain verses weren't actually in the oldest manuscripts. I'm looking for something that is readable and based on the oldest manuscripts. Thoughts?
First of all... each little step matters. God is never too far that He can't reach you! The thing is, people are involved 🥴, and boy do we know how to mess things up; or while copying and copying and rewriting and rewriting, what may have been a little note in the side margin is now in a paragraph. My true heart is for GOD, and with that I trust what has been created by teams of scholars. I find the NLT to be most readable/understandable, and it has me enjoying reading. My personal suggestion would be to try the New Living Translation (NLT) AND the New American Standard Bible (NASB). They hit opposite ends of this "spectrum" but with language that is understandable today. Take yourself through an experiment: Read Philippians (it will take around 20-30min to read the entire book) in the NASB one day and journal/process through it. THE NEXT DAY, read Philippians in the NLT and journal/process through it. From there you can make a decision. And know this. You can always change your mind! I'm praying you experience God in a fresh way through Scriptures this week!🙏🏻
The oldest are not the best. Their source is the Catholic church which hates the KJB. Since they could not destroy it they switched strategies to replacing it with counterfeits. Things that are different are not the same.
I enjoy my NIV study Bible. Where does it fall on the spectrum?
Amazing! You've got all those notes to help ☺️ After this video I would ask you where you think it falls - a quick online search for "Bible translations chart" will give you that image and understanding 😉
@@hiswordmywalk I would have thought the NIV was in the middle of the spectrum. The charts say thought for thought. Hmmm.
@@lauramccollum5686 It's part of making an educated decision of which is best. I truly don't think education about translations is known enough. People just use what they're given or what someone else's opinion of what's "best" is. NIV is quite thought for thought - which is why when it was written it became one of the most known and used translations, because it was in language that could be better understood ☺
If it comes from the Greek. None. If it comes from Hebrew or Aramaic. Better. The older the better. Older means more accurate. Less problems in translation.
The New Testament was written in Greek.
@@captainnolan5062 so say the Romans. The killers of the Messianics before they created Christianity. History is told by the victors. I do not trust Rome. Nor do I trust the things they created. I understand how hard it is to trust the Father over man. But at some point. We need to stop following the created over the creator. For that I no longer walk in these Roman lies. Each one must be convinced for themselves according to their faith. I know Rome and all they have created to be false. History. Culture. Knowledge. No longer ignorant.
Great job. Thank you.
You are so welcome. I pray this gave you some insight and education in choosing the right translation for you in this season.
