      Iraq shot down a B52, but the matter was kept secret with a well-thought-out Iraqi plan. Missiles were fired at a plane that did not reach it. When the pilot decided to land a little, missiles were planted, explosive filling removed, and gunpowder was placed in order for the missile to reach the highest height, and it fell on the outskirts of Baghdad, but the victor did not and will not reveal his losses.

      The B-52 model in the video was a B-52H, and the aircraft was dropping Mk. 20 Rockeye cluster bombs. If the aircraft was carrying these type of munitions, the submunitions Will be going Bang... Bang... Bang. Those are clearly HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank) bomblets.

    B-52 "Big Daddy" wasn't even gonna make a show appearance until ole Normy asked "where are my B-52s"? The Air Force staff went "huh"? A week later we were setting up shop in Jeddah. A B-52 on the loose over a battlefield is like a mad bull in a china shop. If it roams free then if you are the enemy you may as well break out a treaty and try and save what you can. Some of those targets in Iraq were huge and it would have taken fighters months if not years to destroy with LGBs. Big Daddy can do it with about one 9 ship raid. Problem with the B-52 is that the Air Force brass is embarrassed by it. It is a old dinosaur and brass was humiliated that the B-1 was grounded during Storm. The Air Force loves pretty pointed jets to show off to the public. The B-52 is anything but that. Same could be said for the A-10. Folks thought the B-52 was washed up along with its rag tag crews. Somebody forgot to tell those crews all of this BS and when time came to go to war they stepped up along with that embarrassment of an airplane.

    • @g6686not

      greg j They say most of these B52's were the ones that survived the Vietnam era.

    • @totenkopf1479
      @totenkopf1479 9 лет назад +4

      Fascinating. Where can I find out more about this?? It is moronic how the USAF is replacing the A10, and that they'd be embarrassed by the B52. If it's effective and deadly, why replace it?

    • @gregj831
      @gregj831 9 лет назад +5

      Totenkopf147 In fact, there recently was an active investigation into an Air Force General who purportedly "ordered A-10 pilots to keep their mouths shut over effectiveness of the airplane." Mainly "that they refrain from discussing the A-10's ability with elected officials." He told them "that they could be court martialed for treason if they continued to do this." The pilots reported this threat and the crap hit the fan. Apparently this General is really drinking the kool aid from the leadership pitcher. As far as the B-52 goes, you won't find much out there about what it did during Storm. One pilot at Jeddah did publish a book but about the only place I have seen the book being sold at was the Air Force Museum. The Air Force during Storm, was embarrassed that it's state of the art bomber, the B-1 was in fact, grounded during the war. This latest grounding being the culmination of years of problems with this airplane. When questioned about the absence of the B-1 the Air Force lied to the public and told them "that the B-1 was not participating in Storm as it was doing its primary mission of safeguarding the U.S in the nuclear deterrence role." It wasn't even filling that role with it being grounded. That role was filled by guess who? "The faster brother of the B-52G, the B-52H. Also, during this time the Air Force brass was going dippy over all the stealth technology. It badly wanted the B-2. Getting the B-2 developed and purchased, costs mega bucks. The brass was lobbying for those bucks and definitely didn't want the public seeing images of 30 year old B-52s blowing hell out of everything they went after in Iraq. The Air Force decided right then to do whatever it could to suppress any combat highlights of the B-52. In fact, they even went so far as to try and dissuade Air Shows from inviting the B-52 and instead, invite the more beautiful and glamourous B-1. A slap in the face to the B-52 crews who had willingly put their asses on the line in a supposed "obsolete death trap". Big bucks as always, rule the day.

I know that the United States is a superpower and has the honor of being a rival in war, and it did not strike the broken, withdrawing army after the ceasefire. My question is whether the ones who bombed the withdrawing Iraqi army were the Arab pilots who participated with the coalition forces in 1991 in a retaliatory manner. Because there is no depiction of firing missiles at Iraqi military units on their way to death

    after the 8 year iran-iraq war suddenly saudi arabia + kuwait asked iraq to pay back all the money they gave him to protect the gulf countries from iranian revolution spread.
    this made iraq bankrupt + kuwait lowered its oil price, he had no other choice then to invade and the USA allowed him to, they wanted him to invade so they had a reason..

    This video is totally inaccurate. Never during the Gulf War did B-52s go that low to go on a bombing run; It's much too big and slow.
    Secondly, to the person who was going on about B-52's and the Vietnamese, Operation Linebacker II brought the North Vietnamese to the bargaining table, and ultimately saved the lives of countless US POW's during the vietnam war. In fact, they were so effective, the Vietnamese used up all available SAMS while trying to ward the B-52s off.

    As with most of the countries in that part of the globe, the phrase "blow them back to the Stone Age" changes nothing.

    I disagree with people who call this bomber amazing. I take the side of the tens of thousands of innocent people who probably saw it amongst the last moments of their lives.

    @Bllasae well I kinda thought you would have common sense to notice but yeah, its a good point. I can see it from your point of view now. Like who knows I could've been talkin about Nato or somthing but yeah.

    @AzyrenIshida Ignorant comment. I dont ever remember bombing Saudi Arabia, Kuwait (aside from bombing the Iraqis in Kuwait), Iran, or the UAE. I probably left out a few oil rich middle eastern nations but you get the picture.

    Do you even know where iraq is on the map? Do you have a reason to hate them? Do you know a single one of them? I bet not.

    And back to the stone age Iraq went. What a tragedy, the majority of people today think Iraq was always a crap hole, little do they know the Iraqi people once lived like kings and queens before the sanctions and bombs.

    How silly. EVERY country on Earth was once the "homeland of indigenous people". Do you think you are the first one to set foot in whatever country you're from? Every inhabited place on Earth has for tens of thousands of years had waves upon waves of migration that displaced or assimilated whomever and whatever was there before.
