could you please react to the movie ninja assassin ?
harry needs financial compensation because the whole narrative that he dated older women when he was only 16 years old is so disgusting and creepy 😭
Harry Styles needs to give Aaron Taylor Johnson some advice to get out of his MILF relationship.
is it not true?
@@daz1717 Caroline flack
@@sarahm8569 yes and taylor swift
@@daz1717he was 18 and she was 22. Different than when he dated Caroline who was 31 when he was 17
At this point Harry Styles needs to copyright himself 😭😂
You know that you're getting old when Anne Hathaway is old enough to play the mother of a teenager. Also, Anne and Nicholas have both played royals, her in "The Princess Diaries", and him in "Red, White and Royal Blue" and "Girlboss Cinderella."
Anne also played Cinderella in Ella Enchanted, she’s just made for royals roles
@@nakuraitomi21She wasn't Cinderella, Ella enchanted is a whole separate movie and plot
they also, funnily enough, both sang “somebody to love” in their own cinderella remakes
he sang the same song as her in cinderella as she did in ella enchanted 🙈
Sorry, but is this the same person leaving the same comment on 4 different commentary channels? 😂
Forget the Harry Styles inspiration, this man was clearly based on Austin Moon from Austin and Ally!!! I mean his band is named AUGUST MOON!! (/j)
The way their songs sound like they were written by ally dawson too 😭😭

why does EVERY teen rom com have the main leads fall in love in ONE day like you barely know each other
The fact that is move is an adult romcom makes this comment even funnier
Thank you for mentioning the thing about the bathroom! I was losing my mind thinking how did she mistake that trailer?!?!
Hey! I can't pin this comment due to a contractual obligation with the brand deal attached BUT I wanted to come here and apologize for the lack of research done in this video, I ran with my prior knowledge of the authors comment about harry and from comments i've been reading what i've learned is that the author had to change the race of the characters due to publishers not wanting to pick up black love stories. Harry styles is a very small part of her marketing and i was completely wrong for running with that misinformation. To everyone who has already seen the video, I'm sorry and looking back my judgement is entirely too harsh now knowing the full story, WHICH i should've known if i did proper research on the author. Thank you to those who have corrected me.
thanks for clearing this info up! could you post this on the community tab as well so it gets more eyes on it? just asking because I had to go deep into the comment section before I found this and this info is super important/should be seen by more people!
It's nice to see a manic pixie dream boy for once
That’s the one positive from the Harry styles character structure lol
Jack from Titanic too 😅
btw in the original book Hayes was 20!!!! and Solene was still 40
and her daughter was 12
they fr changed it to make it seem less weird
ITS STILL WEIRD
If it helps Nick irl; is actually 29. But yeah; it is still a weird premise of a movie. I couldn't agree more, it's still uncomfortable to watch during some scenes.
Oh I didn’t know that. Wow
@@00AgentKrabie
well obviously i know that
thats why im talking about the BOOK
@@ViaVolterra How was I supposed to know that?
@@00AgentKrabie girl, in the original comment they literally started by saying "IN THE ORIGINAL BOOK" And they talked about CHARACTERS, not actors.
Dont come saying you couldn't tell they weren't talk about the actors
Not a fan of the age gap trope but I’m glad they changed the ages from 20 & 40 to 24 to 40, she just had to wait a few months for the frontal lobe to fully develop ig… creepy ass backstory tho wth
Lol 25 is fully developed so that's still not accurate
@@RoKer13 yah ik, I’m assuming he’s been 24 for a while so a few more months and he’d be 25😅
Imo, the movie would have been significantly more terrible if the actors weren’t both hot
The bikini scene is definitely ridiculous because cmon it’s Anne Hathaway, but we have to remember her ex husband cheated on her with someone younger than her. It’s obviously a sore spot for her and she wants nothing to do with Ava in the movie. Now she’s with this hot younger guy and he’s surrounded by hot younger girls and I feel like that memory is always gonna be in the back of her mind, hence the mumu.
TL;DR Anne Hathaway is too hot to be insecure but she does have reasons lol
It just made me think about the moment the narration comes in in the Barbie movie and says "Margot Robbie was not the right person to cast to make this point" in the moment when Barbie was was freaking out about her looks. Like yeah as an audience member I understand there are plot reasons but you are also not going to make me believe the gorgeous model-like girl was being bullied for being ugly just because she wears glasses and a ponytail.
I was deadass mesmerized by anne in this movie 😭😭🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
Same, she’s so beautiful!
Ikr I can't believe how beautiful she is
I never comment on anything but I just wanted to take a second to applaud this lighting and background cause trin you nailed it! The colours look stunning 💖
omg thank you so much!!!!!
She wasn't saying they don't fit because she thinks she's ugly 😭 she was saying that bc their lifestyles are completely different. Also i absolutely cried when she had her whole speech about getting cheated on. I thought her delivery of it was so perfect as someone myself who tries to just explain things with a smile even though they're painful. It's like finally saying it out loud makes me realize how shitty and tolerant i was and you can see her shift when the realization becomes too much for her but then she still has to hold back bc she's always had to be strong for her daughter. Idk that scene was the best
trin thank you for actually acknowledging the weird backstory to this movie, i knew i could count on you 😭🙏🏽
love love love your commentaries
Tbh the concert scenes did make me think of bts concerts especially whenever he would appear on the big screen and the way he performed and interacted with the fans so perhaps he actually watched their concerts as inspiration for his role.
Actually that's exactly what he said! I guess trin didn't watch the whole video where he talks about this but he very clearly said he was inspired by bts' relationship and how they interact with eachother/fans on stage
One direction did the same exact thing
Everything about the movie & the novel is so deeply uncomfortable. Harry Styles I am so sorry I wasn’t your lawyer
I would sue for emotional distress 😬
Thank God, I wasn't the only person that didn't like it at all.
Nicholas has chemistry with everyone lmao
I watched the movie to support Anne and Nicholas and to have a good time and I did. That's honestly all I cared about. The songs had no business being as catchy as they were. My favorite is Dance Before We Walk but Taste and Closer are up there too.
Nicholas sucks
Agreed
I want to steal all Trin's fits 😭 they're so cute 😭
trin thank you for your service, i love watching pretty girls talk about media with crazy lore like this
Need to have Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway to have a y/n off
“This is a story about an older woman coming of age” is an older woman not… already of age?
Not emotionally! She was pushed into motherhood and wifehood at a young age and she never had the chance to do things for herself.
Omg the little bunny tattoo is so cute!!
She apologizes to him when he was the one who pulled the fuckboy move?
The ending of the original novel is more realistic, in that Hayes and Solene split up permanently, though it's implied that she never really gets over him. Author Robinne Lee was reportedly displeased with the change.
This story is realistic?
Solene and Hayes relationship was alot more toxic and volatile and predatory and was driven more by lust in the book, it's obvious they couldn't make their relationship work, so the ending in the book was more realistic for their relationship in the book. BUT in the movie their relationship is less toxic and more organic and grounded and abit more wholesome and mature in the sense that Hayes was older and they had more healthier interactions & conversations with each other in the movie. I think their relationship in the movie is more convincing and believable, I can believe that they actually do love each other and can make their relationship work in the long run. So considering how their relationship was portrayed in the movie, which is less toxic and more grounded compared to the book, the happier ending is realistic for the movie iteration. In reality there are couples with big age gaps who are able to make their relationships work.
@@iamlinda100Sounds like the book accurately portrays what happens in a lot of age gap rebound relationships. The couple works bc they have matching emotional *immaturity*, which is not sustainable long term.
@@pixiel1xie actually Hayes is more mature than his age, he is more mature than the other members of the band actually. He's more mature with Solene, and he's aware of Solene's feelings. Hence why Oliver remarked that Hayes became a "middle aged old man" since he met Solene. Hayes was aware of their safety after their relationship became public so he had security cameras installed. He also understood the importance of the mother & daughter relationship and how hard it was for Izzy to deal with all the harassment and bullying, so he accepted their breakup, even though it hurt him. He also mentioned resuming their relationship after 5 years when Izzy is older. The only reason they broke up was because of Izzy due to all the public backlash against them. Hayes might be only 24 years old, but he's more mature and considerate. While Solene being older, but she has an immature quality to her as well, being a young mum, she wasn't really able to live her early years, so she was living the life that she missed. Their personalities match each other very well, that's why they were able to build such a strong bond so quickly, it wasn't just sexual attraction between them. They also had mutual respect and real love and affection for each other, Solene gave Hayes the courage to go solo and have more faith in himself and his talents. Like I said, their relationship in the movie is more grounded and mature compared to the book. I believe they will be able to make their relationship work long term. In reality there are some couples with big age gaps who are able to make their relationship work in the long run.
@@iamlinda100 I don’t understand the purpose of this long comment. I also watched the movie, but my comment is describing the book!

I can't escape ads for this fucking movie omg, yet somehow i didn't know it actually came out already
I think we need to understand that Nicholas has chemistry with everyone. How else did I get through the republican propaganda that was Purple Hearts, without completely disliking it????
Um purple hearts was atrocious and it’s crazy the actors haven’t said anything about it
Damn it Trin. I watched it last night because I couldn’t think of anything else and now less than 16 hours later you upload THIS?

Ngl I was thinking about it the other day, like yeah, fanfic sometimes just exits the fanfic space and becomes a real book and/or movie, sure. But when it's RPF, it's weird to think that the whole process happens without any involvement from the actual person lol
gurl not right in front of my salad 🤣💀
We are in my favourite Trin era/aesthetic so far
the fact that their age gap in the book is just 1 year off from the age gap between me and my mom🤢🤢🤢 nahhh. glad u uploaded this cuz i was not gonna watch it lol
the disclaimer at the beginning is spot on
Thank you for bringing the tea 🍵✨
The way he behaves, showing up at her place of work unsolicited, making grand gestures in front of an audience to impress her, would be so inexcusable if he was a normal person and not attractive and famous.
I'm trying to figure out how this is supposed to be a mature story for adults about an adult woman when this guy seems like a personality-less cardboard box whose only selling point is that 13-year-old girls find him desirable. Doesn't really resonate with me as an older woman. You should know by 40 how meaningless superficial things are and I'd rather see a story where we understand deeply why these two people like each other because of the interactions they have. But that's much harder to write. Instead, anything here that actually seems like a deep exploration of feelings has everything to do with building HER characterization and he's literally just there, being a pretty cardboard box, and I guess we're supposed to like him because he's the saint that did the charitable service of smashing an older woman.
This is just a teenager's wish-fulfillment fanfiction written by a woman who never grew up and thought she wrote a masterpiece.
Nailed it. Totally agree.
i’ve been waiting for you to review this thank you
omg ur eating this up
before i finish your video i just wanna confess i’ve seen this film 3x already, it’s so cute and comforting and literally would NOT have worked to the extent it did without the leads. but i rlly wish i didn’t learn the context of the source material and all the things they had to either rewrite or completely scrap to make this movie less yucky.
with that being said, a LOT of the forced feminism dialogue is what did make me side eye the movie even while i was enjoying it. when izzy said, “it’s cuz you’re a woman and you’re older than him,” i was like… well, yes! i think they’re not wrong about how women get scrutinized even more for being the older person, but this film isn’t from the 2000s. our generation thinks older men in her position ARE disgusting, so that was a given no matter the gender. those few lines from hayes and izzy and her friend tracy were the only ones that took me out of the film and made me crinkle my nose.
but i WAS a huge 1d fan who read and wrote a lot of harry fanfic LMAO so i loved the music, the magic corniness of boy bands, nicholas’ blatant harry voice/mannerisms. i had a huge blast but god i have to ignore the questionable inspiration and white feminism being shoved down my throat towards the middle to ending of the film
and just to be clear, ik that the writer isn’t a white woman but i said what i said. literally they’re pushing this “MEN do it so WHY CANT AN EMPOWERED WOMAN LIKE ME?” message and it’s just… ugh. i think him being 24 was such a good revision. still kinda weird but at least he’s in his mid twenties rather than just being fresh off his teens like in the book so if they had kept him as 20 the entire movie would have been ruined. i’m 24 myself and i admit i’ve talked to an older guy close to anne’s age like once but nah it’s too weird i don’t think anyone over 10 years older than me has any business being near me intimately lmao
am i the only one who enjoyed this movie? their chemistry was insane
I enjoyed too, it was fun and had me giggling. sometimes that's all I asked for a movie, not thinking too much
It was fun!!! Trin is nitpicking a little too much imo lol
Also I didn't know/care about the author of that book or whatever but it looks like she did before watching it so it affected her viewing experience
You are not the only delusional person with parental issues so no, lots of other people unfortunately liked it

YAY TRIN I MISSED YOU!
trin, every new vid you post you're somehow even prettier than before. love u ♥
god i swear i didnt even know how much i missed nontoxic female youtube movie commentary until i left it alone a while... feels so good!!!
I believe the original book was about two black characters, but the author wasn't being published with that, so she had to change their race and was able to publish that way. Similarly, I think she made the Harry Styles comment in a way to get more eyes on the book.
Regardless, using a real life person as an inspiration for a character IS actually different from writing fanfiction. For example, I wouldn't call Red, White and Royal Blue fanfiction, but it is very clearly inspired by Prince Harry and the very real British Royal family.
Exactly, idk how I feel about people dragging this black women and calling her disgusting without even knowing the real story
@@starxvssv I was also taken back by the lack of research portrayed in this video. It's usually better on this channel, but that glaring ignorance of her blackness and how it affected the book itself, but also the press for this film is disappointing
That's so sad that STILL there is so much racism in publishing and the movie industry that she couldn't get it published with two black main characters.
I understand thinking it's a fanfic about HS tho considering it's a fanfic-esqe plot and the love interest is a British musician in a boy band. I saw no press about it and I still assumed it was a HS fanfic, esp when you see its based on a book
This needs to be the top comment! I'm tired of these retired 1D stans not doing their proper research and giving seemingly false information based on the author and book. Nearly every reaction I've seen to this movie has called it a Harry Styles fanfic, it's so tiring.
Where did you get this information from? Not arguing, genuinely curious to read any sources for myself though, because I've seen a couple articles quote the author that she was working on a different novel BEFORE The Idea of You, with a black female protagonist and a white love interest, and then started on this novel when that first one wouldn't sell, so am just wondering if that's maybe what you're referring to instead?
also btw the second part where photos of them leak where she’s in a bikini and like her being torn to shreds in the media is also reminiscent of like harry’s last relationship with olivia wilde
Im ashamed to say I unironically listen to the end credits song with Anne Marie
Nothing wrong with the Idea Of You. It's a brilliant film. And No it has nothing to do with Harry Styles.
this movie was so not forreal.... its like chatGPT: make a movie script based on every romcom cliche + harry styles self insert fan fiction + sexual predator but make it the female version.
I loved the movie just cause it was wattpad coded HOWEVER there are so many wattpad stories that aren’t based on celebrities that could be made. Not just one but two stories that were once Harry styles fan fiction that ended up being made into movies is wild.
The author is black and actually said it was a black story with black characters so idk about Harry

I hated how much I kinda enjoyed this movie🙈
The songs kinda slapped as well.🤭
Ok Trin the anger in this video was a little much lmao like goddamn i dont see anyone treating the author of After like this 😭 like yeah she's kinda off but still
the author of after absolutely did get trashed and mocked online and called out for exploiting harry but the story itself gets trashed for just being toxic. this story and movie and author gets trashed for being creepy because of the age difference and especially how it mirrors harry’s irl rs history since he was a minor. both are gross but this one feels gross in a very specific way.
@@tinglar5432 this woman is getting called slurs and being sent death threats and Trin was wayyy nicer to that other author lol don't even
@@starxvssvugh that’s horrific now knowing the full story of the author. i saw trin’s recent comment apologizing for the misinformation and looked into the details surrounding the book. apparently the author wrote this book as an FU to the publishing industry because they wouldn’t publish her black love story. now that this author is getting sent so much hate (as a black woman rather than the after series’s author who is white) all for a book she only wrote to give publishers exactly what they wanted. i didn’t like this movie at all and think the connection to harry is still a little weird knowing his history with dating older women while underage/very young, i’m about to become this author’s new biggest fan because the universe is actually so evil!!
finally, someone that finds this movie weird, the age gap makes it very uncomfortable
the anne hathaway acting like shes ugly impression is what i got from all the trailers lol. so annoying

Triiin, what were your thoughts on the August Moon (and Hayes)'s songs? Like always, your video is fucking incredible 💞💃 (btw, did anyone else think they were gonna take advantage of having the Woman of All Time, Anne Hathaway, and make her sing just a liiiil bit at some point?🤡 Like they could've had them singing like 2 lines together while cuddling or some bs, but noo, god forbid women do anything)
Where do you get your movie posters from?
It's so weird seeing Slavic on screen and it isn't for so you think you can dance
Hey Trin,
I'm pretty sure this was originally written with black characters in mind, but when no one would publish, then she changed the race. Unless I'm missing something, Harry Styles was such a small part of what's been said, so for you to focus on it SO MUCH just seems unfair.
I honestly had no idea and that's completely my fault for my lack of research. I'm sorry for that, it's very unfair to me to criticize so much without the complete knowledge of the topic.
@LovellTrin Thank you for even responding! She did an interview with refinery29 address her attempt to sell a previous book for 6 years with no luck & deciding to write this with white leads and it blew up.
The mispronounciation of Solène the whole video 😭
I watched it without knowing about the controversy, and I thought it was not a bad movie, but it still felt so…Oof. 💀
