I have to admit, when Kinsley was playing with her blue cup and wanted mom to play with her, I kinda stopped listening to MaCenna and just watched Kinsley.
In all those books you've been collecting you've gotta have some vintage cookbooks you can display in that rack! And I'm really interested to see you use the gallery rails - I think they're so pretty and add so much gorgeous character!
That’s exactly what I was thinking too! It might be that she’s calling it a spice rack but will fill it with cookbooks because spices would be more convenient near the stove. 😊
Dang, girl, I want to be you when I grow up! (I’m 65 lol). I’m just amazed at how innovative and creative you are. Those porch posts are absolutely perfect, and black makes your incredible island a total showstopper! You are simply astonishing, and my absolute favorite RUclipsr.
We built our house almost 50 yrs ago...and l was so sick of this place ...t b at l took two week vacation after we finally finished....don't let anybody romanticize building house ..it is hard demanding 24-7 days of worrying work and sweat...and l had 2 kids to look after and meals to cook and my husband was working a full-time job!!! I love our house...but you wouldn't have loved my videos🤣✌
I just love how every little piece of this home has been so thoroughly thought out and planned! Looove the black 😍 it also ties in so well with the soap stone! Cannot wait to see how it all comes together 🥹
Wow, this got me emotional - felt like a full circle moment and I love how you’re bringing us along with you. You can truly feel how rewarding it is for you to see your visions come to life at your own hands. And the preciousness of Miss Kinsley’s ‘supervision’, just gorgeous🥺 SO invested in this journey, MaCenna, thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏻
Aww me too I was so proud of her she's unstoppable and there's no end to her talent & skills. When they were bringing in the counter top and she and her mum were watching together filled my heart!! Xx
I thought the same also about the brass foot rail, it would really make that side pop! I also love the black, it completely transformed the island. I have a picture I saved on Pinterest of a drawer that rolls out under the farmers sink instead of doors and also one that would be great for storage in the space on your island. I’m amazed how you are building those cabinets❣️❤️❤️❤️
I agree! My hubby loves catching up on what you've been doing. I hope you're SO PROUD of yourself. From doing thrift flips to building a WHOLE HOUSE! Amazing 👏
I would strongly recommend when you build in your structure to cover the garbage disposal etc. in your undersink cabinet, that you create the sides and front as one single piece that can then be slid out of the cupboard entirely, as this will make it much, much easier in the event that you need to have work done on any of the plumbing. I have to say I'm really impressed with how true to your original vision this kitchen is turning out, and it looks absolutely stunning! You are doing such great work, im so happy for you that all your hard work is paying off now and you are getting to do all the fun stuff and seeing it all come together. Is it weird that I'm really stupidly proud of a complete stranger? 😃
I agree with the slide out idea. Having had to work on 2 garbage disposals as soon as MaCenna mentioned building sides around the garage disposal i thought oh no. Otherwise it is beautiful. MaCenna kuddos to you!! and Romeo too!
you may want to add an access panel on the side of the island so you can get into that dead space for storage. Lots of over sized items you could store in there. Looking good!
I saw someone store a six foot long folding table in a space like this…. They used it for crafting and paint projects so it kept their dinning table free of that kind of thing but could be stored away when it wasn’t needed.
Thanks for being such a great role model for young girls! My eight year old daughter keeps saying how smart you are and good at building things. It shows her that she could do something like this someday too 💗 we love watching your channel
Does anyone else get a little giddy and want to cry with excitement every time some new big thing happens to the house? I thought electricity day was huge but this video is a million times bigger!! 🥰
My father was a carpenter/cabinet builder, watching you build your own cabinets is not only impressive but brings back fond memories of helping my father. I knew you were going to choose black paint for the island, it’s so complimentary to that gorgeous marble. I have to say Kinsey’s playfulness with that blue cap was an added bonus - she’s an adorable happy dog. 🤩
As usual, I'm blown away by the things you're able to build and how you envision them BUT Kinsley TOTALLY stole the show this week lol. She was so cute following you around while you were building and putting her blue lid everywhere. She's such a total cutie. Wouldn't mind some Kinsley merch
The pony wall that you brought out 10" from the back of island would be perfect narrow storage for baking sheets, muffin pans, etc if you added doors on either sides of islands. Really great narrow storage idea
@@prosie1968 Awesome idea! Spices aren't pretty or interesting and can be hidden, but a wall with cookbooks and pretty platters, maybe a bud vase, could look fantastic when viewed from the dining room!!
Painting the island black just pulled that whole space together! It grounds it and relates to the windows and soapstone counters. Your balancing of materials and colours is perfection!
I absolutely love that you are building your own cabinets. That would scare me, but you are just tackling it and getting it done. An idea for the end rack on the island would be to slip in some vintage cookbooks with beautiful front covers. Can't wait to see your kitchen completed!
I had no idea how invested I would be in this series. I started watching literally day 1 when you showed us the cottage after you got the keys. And I was like, "Ok, i'm not sure how I feel about going from DIYs and interior decorating in LA to this" and then here I am, just waiting for every episode to drop.
Kinsley is the best little DIY helper!! 🥰🐾 I was so shocked when you said you were painting the island black but it’s ties into the windows and soap stone counters beautifully 😍😍😍
Just utterly insanely good 😮♥️ the fact that you built the whole thing yourself, and it looks soooooooo expensive!!! The black is perfection! It picks up on your window frames and the soapstone so beautifully but still makes such a statement!!! Omg it's all incredible 🤤🤤
I loved that this video was slightly longer than your others. To be honest, the longer the better. I love watching the transition from before and after with all the hard work you are putting in to this renovation!! You are amazing ; you are learning as you go along! I'm rooting for you and so proud of you! Great job!
I see Kinsey still has her little cap. She is so cute. Your kitchen is stunning. You have become a master builder!!! And black was where I was hoping you would land💜
I've been refreshing this page all day nonstop because of the anticipation. I haven't been able to get that picture you posted yesterday of the countertops out of my head. It looks beautiful.
Omg I died a little when the countertop guy dropped his metal thingy (technical term 🤣) on your hardwoods! 😅 The kitchen is looking BEAUTIFUL and I am so inspired by your work and building all those beautiful cabinets yourself. You’re amazing!
NEVER HAS MY BREATH BEEN TAKEN AWAY BEFORE BY A KITCHEN ISLAND......... I literally gasped at its beauty, depth of character and personality. Wow.... so welcoming and alive. Enjoy you deserve it 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I can't believe how much work you have done yourself. Your so talented. The kitchen island looks beautiful and the black matches the soapstone on the cupboards.
The island looks amazing!, I particularly like that you incorporated the porch posts into the design. I am in awe, not only of what you choose to take on just by watching RUclips videos, but also by the great job you do. I like when you explain your thought process for why you make your design choices and am amazed by the number of variables you take into account.. On a side note, Kinsley is adorable! I particularly enjoy watching her carrying around her blue cap.😁
i have never been so excited for someone else's house before. ugh I love your kitchen!! I'm obsessed with that black island with brass features. 🙌 great job
That island is EVERYTHING!!! You did a fabulous job on it. I’m so impressed with your skills Mac!! Can’t wait to see the entire kitchen finished. I want to see that lighting fixture up lol.
I love this idea, but 4” depth is too shallow. I kept thinking decorative antique glass or crockery with a invisible lighting. It’s very inconvenient for spices.
You never cease to amaze me. I cannot believe how talented and capable you are. I just wallpapered my pantry and that was almost over my talent level. Great job!!!
You and your home need to be featured on House and Home or Architectural Digest. Your talent is beyond any designer because YOU also build it! I am just in awe Macenna. This will be your forever home. Thank you for taking us on the journey. ❤️🤩
Macenna! You have grown so much! Your carpentry skills are…. AMAZING! I was telling my husband that you build beautiful quality in the work you do; and it will last forever. Your kitchen is so beautiful. Beyond words. Every time Kinsley got near the paint I actually talked out saying oh honey! Don’t get it in you! 😁
Macenna, you truly are a wonderwoman! You approach everything with such enthusiasm and confidence and the amount of work you’ve done on this reno is nothing short of spectacular! Well done on the gorgeous island. I dread to think how much a cabinet maker would have charged for your kitchen alone. By the way-how cute is Kinsley walking around with her little blue lid 🥰
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!! The space next to the shelving, where you kept it open to add electric, you should do a storage drawer. We had a cabinet that shape growing up and my Mom used it for baking sheets and cutting boards. It's so incredible MaCenna! It took everything in me to not immediately fast forward to the end. haha
Love the idea of using those for legs for an ottoman for the reading room. Candle stick idea is also a nice option. But the ottoman legs just sounds perfect for your home.
Wow just Wow! I'm torn with which was my favorite part. That countertop.. you and your mom gushing over the granite.. or Kinsley picking up the blue plastic lid toy left and right.... I think she wins, she's just too cute 🤣
I imagine you have likely finished more of the kitchen but wanted to share an idea just in case. While boxing in the garbage disposal you could use magnets to secure the front panel and attach a pull ring or simply cut a finger hole in a top corner. Given that area has water flowing through it, the quicker the accessibility during a crisis the better. You are doing an incredible job with your cottage. I believe you are inspiring many with your designing and building things like the island with no prior experience. Even stepping outside your “comfort zone” with colour choices, like the island, likely gives people the incentive to go bravely where they have not before. I grinned when you squealed with delight at your refrigerator. Being a fresh food foodie, that is something I would do. Keep doing all you do. You are teaching with every paintbrush stroke and screw of your drill. Happy homemaking! With gratitude and grace~XOXO
OMG I was holding my breath when they were bringing in the island top 😳. I love seeing Kinsley in the video with her top toy 😍. Absolutely beautiful island!!
In love with the kitchen renovation... will admire Kingsley too how calmly she is around the work ... very cool choice to paint the island black... i am in love with black paint too it brings alot of character to the space ✨️ 😍
I would reccomend maybe tiling or doing peel and stick tile under your kitchen sink. Even though you're doing a great job getting everything "perfect", you don't want your cabinets ruined if the plumbing leaks
Man! I'd seen your little cameos on Drew's channel, but this is my first time watching your videos. You are just so vibrant and expressive, the energy you have while talking to a camera is incredible. You could make the best kids show showing them how to make stuff!
macenna, i just bought a home & you've been such an inspiration to me. after watching this renovation series for so long, i feel empowered by you to be able to tackle home projects!
MaCenna, I feel so vested in your home projects. I cry when you cry I laugh when you laugh and I get giddy and excited along with you. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. It’s been exciting, nerve wrecking, happy every and all types of emotions. I’m here sitting and waiting by the edge of my seat for the next installment of the series. I’m so happy for you.
Hi, Valentinnnnnaaaa ❤️! You and MaCenna have the same energy, and are extremely talented; so much fun to watch! Love u both! She actually could pass as your little sister- if u ask me 😁💞! Wish this episode would go on forever 😆! Great job!!
I think the best part of thee videos is watching this women become more and more confident in building things all on her own. I’m literally like proud watching this. It makes me feel like I need to be doing something like this. I have so many projects and ideas I have. But the not knowing how is the road block.
I think another great idea for the little spice rack could have been a DIY mercury glass mirror behind there. That sparkly, reflective surface, along with some little brass rails could look great.
Love it! The counters look great!!! The island is perfect! LOVE the black. (You might want to think about cook books or great food books for the “spice rack” area - they could look great from the dining room - not sure spices are practical in that spot.) Love love love all of this!
LOVE, love, loooove the countertops, and the black is AMAZING! It fits so well with the soapstone. I'm so excited when you are met with challenges and then just wing it with a spice rack why not? So impressed with your work! An idea could be a plate along with your decor on your pretty spice shelf? Didn't you get some from your nice neighbour that was original to the house? A pretty blue one? Keep up the good work, we love to see your vision unfold! Love from Norway
The little spice rack thing could be used to hold a few cookbooks! My grandmother's early 1900s house had storage like that on the end of her countertop too. You could use 2 of the leftover column pieces to make wall sconces for pillar candles and put them on either side of the TV above the mantel or maybe on either side of the main doorway casing that used to be part of the parlor? I would say they might look nice in a bathroom too on either side of the mirror or window. I was also wondering why don't you do a little secret slide-out storage thing between the cabinets and the pony wall thing? It looked like you had a bit of a gap. That could be kind of neat!
@@kimesser2318 I feel the same way, but only because I have Australian shepherds. I don't think Kinsley presents the same dog hair hazard as mine do, but I know anything knee-height or lower gets coated in hair too easily around here. Kinsley would never!

Kinsley in the background 15:20 is so cute. Glad she can hangout with you at home.
OMG I was holding my breath when they were bringing in the island top 😳. I love seeing Kinsley in the video with her top toy 😍. Absolutely beautiful island!!
When you were talking about paint colors I was literally saying “please paint it black” 🥰 Sooo beautiful!!!!
Me too 😂💖
In love with the kitchen renovation... will admire Kingsley too how calmly she is around the work ... very cool choice to paint the island black... i am in love with black paint too it brings alot of character to the space ✨️ 😍
I can’t believe we’re here !!! This is the best update, I’ve been watching since day 1 :)
This house is AMAZING!!! You're going to get so many calls to start a renovation TV show after this cottage is finished.
She may get calls to BUILD a house..I know she could do it without a doubt, she's amazing!!😍
I would reccomend maybe tiling or doing peel and stick tile under your kitchen sink. Even though you're doing a great job getting everything "perfect", you don't want your cabinets ruined if the plumbing leaks
Kingsley is so funny with her cap toy!
Man! I'd seen your little cameos on Drew's channel, but this is my first time watching your videos.
You are just so vibrant and expressive, the energy you have while talking to a camera is incredible. You could make the best kids show showing them how to make stuff!
You are an awesome carpenter! It’s looking sooo nice! You are also frugal in your buying. You are also a talented designer. Be blessed.
macenna, i just bought a home & you've been such an inspiration to me. after watching this renovation series for so long, i feel empowered by you to be able to tackle home projects!
Yayyyy!! That makes me so happy! 🥰🥰 congrats on your new home
@@XOMaCenna thank you so much!
I didn't know the kitchen renovation would give me this hype until I saw the countertops in the faucet photo.
I’m so glad you took advantage of that extra 4” next to the dishwasher. It can be so useful for spices, cookbooks, utensils, decor, whatever!!
And Kensly with that blue cup!! I giggled when she dropped in front of you while you're sitting on the floor putting in the wainscoting.
Woohooo!!!! So excited for you and loooove the black! 🖤🖤🖤
Nice to see you here ..along with Drew as well..love watching all your shows , nothing like bringing ..Reno,Style & Deco all here ..
Hi, Valentinnnnnaaaa ❤️! You and MaCenna have the same energy, and are extremely talented; so much fun to watch! Love u both! She actually could pass as your little sister- if u ask me 😁💞! Wish this episode would go on forever 😆! Great job!!
goes with the soapstone
When she said she chose black I was so thrilled and I immediately thought of you V!! 🖤🖤🖤
Hello Valentina! I saw the black island and said “ YES! “ I love black islands.
I’m screaming “the floors“ when they were wheeling the counters in!
Wow !! I must have said this 100 times during this entire reno but you are so clever ......your island is just stunning my love xxxxx
So excited... And can we just talk about Miss Kinsley and her blue cap... She is loving it
Love it! The counters look great!!!
The island is perfect! LOVE the black. (You might want to think about cook books or great food books for the “spice rack” area - they could look great from the dining room - not sure spices are practical in that spot.)
Love love love all of this!
i feel like i’ve been waiting my WHOLE LIFE for this kitchen
Me tooooooo
@@XOMaCenna just finished watching, it’s perfection😍😍 i truly can’t wait to see the whole kitchen finished, let alone the whole house☺️
That black with the granite and the hardware for the sink… beautiful. Your design style is amazing.
I agree Spices should be kept organized in drawers or cabinets
@@kimesser2318 I feel the same way, but only because I have Australian shepherds. I don't think Kinsley presents the same dog hair hazard as mine do, but I know anything knee-height or lower gets coated in hair too easily around here. Kinsley would never!
Omg! Am I only the only one almost crying!?! The faucet looks amazing!
I absolutely love the black island! U did an amazing job building the cabinets!
Can hardly wait for next episode!
🥰🥰🥰
I was def right there with you!! I found myself with tears in my eyes a couple times, just watching her totally amazes me!
You're really doing an incredible job on this house MaCenna. You should be so proud of yourself!
I had to pause halfway to comment on how adorable Kinsley is with her blue cap. ❤❤❤
I really love your decision to paint the island black. It really anchors the room 🖤
