Madonna arrived young & poor to NYC in 1978 but in less than a decade she already conquered the world.
By 1990 she was a global cultural icon & the biggest music star

Micheal Jackson was ALWAYS bigger than Madonna . Madonna and Whitney Houston were tight behind MJ.

Why are they also telling us her family was poor? I'm sorry but thay looks like an upper middle class neighborhood she grew up in.

Thank you. Yes there are people on RUclips who have brains.
She was not poor, she was very middle class...and very good middle class in the 60`s and 70`s.
Her father was an Engineer who worked Chrysler or one of the car companies. If you can hire a house keeper you are not poor.
Showing up in New York with $35 is a LIE
Whats not a lie is that she was a very worker and very smart and talented.
Totally dismissed her music after the first album, and the fame that came after.
Even though I didnt care for her later music, as I`m not into top 10 pop, she is a good singer and she is talented, and I later recognized that

We lived down the street. They were NOT poor. It was a neighborhood where auto executives lived. Her dad was an engineer. Madonna herself has added to some of the confusion over the years saying she is from "Detroit" or "Pontiac" which are more working class areas. But she is from Rochester Hills, which is exactly as it sounds. And it is still a very nice place to live, with good schools and beautiful homes. She went to Rochester Adams High School which is one of the best public schools in the state.

Shahara Zon I personally feel like she didn't want her father's money. I mean she was eating from trash cans in New York when she had a father to give her money.

funny how people have their own ideas what others should do. She wanted out of there as soon as possible.
Look how everything turned out too. If she had stayed longer she might have lost her dream.

@@unlikeavirgin and people are forgetting she had so many siblings in one house, she’s said before she use to be so embarrassed because they had to make their own clothes but from what I heard she was very smart, social, popular and determined things that prob shaped her into her 20s also I feel if she was rich she wouldn’t be the hungry determined for success Madonna we know today she knows the struggle and that’s what once made her so relatable

The thing is,Madonna is not all that talented.Okay, she is talented at re inventing herself, but her voice is nowhere near as good at many other artists out there and not all artists use people to get ahead.

Not all that talented? Don't you ever get a butt bleed by spewing that transparent Bullshit every time? Ridiculous, You have to be super talented in many, many different ways, shape or form to achieve what Madonna has achieved. No one before or after Madonna has even come close, That takes and incredible amount of talent, but it's something you wouldn't ever know or understand. I mean, you're here on RUclips,, Nuff said,

your out of your mind, i grew up in the 80s and Madonna's music was played by the young the old the black the white by everyone. Can you imagine she even had men singing like a virgin. your crazy as hell to say she's not that talented. you must be a true hater with a failed attempt in the music game to say that. i remember dancing my ass off to material world video after school when i was a kid and no im not gay, that's just how popular her music was that everyone loved it and still does. your and idiot for that comment you nugget head! lmao

They didn’t make any money from that house. Lol. Madonna had 7 siblings and dad was on her own. They lived in another house before this. It was in the poor neighbourhood of Pontiac. They lived in a middle class neighbourhood here, but were a middle lower class income family. Madonna did not have money back then.
