    • @theEXOaudio
      @theEXOaudio 4 года назад +7

      @@jasonle520 yes that could be some of the instances. but her point was that if someone didn't like her, they'd say it to her face even if it was few since like you said, "people are afraid to do that" directly in her face. but remember, there are actual critics out there where some of their job is to "critic" what she does. I don't know for you, but if there were people directly saying that in my face, I'd be more bothered rather than a lot of people bashing me on social media because I could just shut down my notifications. and some of the hate today were just bandwagon. imagine, someone to say something in her face means that they really "meant" what they said probably unlike social media where people just jump on the hate train.
      think about this too: madonna is still active in her career back then and now. so she's also experiencing those "behind the screen" social media hate. I bet if you search i hate madonna there's also hate going on social media on her. but the fact that she told that story where "people used to say it in my face" means that is more bothering and it affected her more than current social media thing.
      and it was the 80s. I am sure most people were blunt back then.
      please let's not dive into i-dont-think-you-understand-what-she-meant and just focus on the message of what she's saying. it's that hate will always be there. people should be more considerate of the words they say and actions that they do.

    Watching this 7 years later.. what a powerful and profound speech that brought me to tears.. truth is, I used to be THAT woman, the one who judged you, who would criticize you for what you looked like, acted, and behaved, I put myself on a pedestal and thought of myself as a woman of "values" who would never put myself out there as you did. How wrong was I... the beauty of aging brings wisdom though... I now know that subconsciously I was envious, not of your fame or fortune, but envious of your ability to be comfortable in your own skin, so comfortable with who you are, that other's opinions did not matter. My takeaways from this speech are to ACCEPT and embrace who you are, fully, your past and your present, your warts and all that goes with it, and to be GRATEFUL, not only for the people who support and agree with you but more so those that do not, as how you react to those who don't agree with you is your CHOICE, Madonna CHOSE to take motivation and inspiration from those who did not agree with her.

    She is right, I’ve never took a lot interest in her, when I saw this in my recommendations I clicked on it out of curiosity, but she caught me off-guard, she talked about some things Ive been thinking about myself especially and that I let toxic opinions get to me, like being the girl everyone expects me to be while hanging around boys and always putting up an act. I don’t see men and females separated, I see personality and the human that is standing right in front of me, but society is so focused on gender roles and the mainstream flow that either you have to get real thick skin to survive being yourself emotionally and mentally or you totally loose out. It seams there is something truthful in this speach. When she was saying what she was expected to do in her life and what she had done because she was expected to do - it is basically everything what she has done in her life. She dedicated her life to companies she worked. She basically said what I was thinking all the time - she is creation of somebody else. Image of Madonna is just corporative creation and we don't actually know real Louise Ciccone. Probably she doesn't exsist. And I think it has noting to do with her gender. It has to do with people who sell their souls to the Devil. Louise Ciccone had to die Madonna to be born. Very sad. There is no way return. Now she must do everything what devil does to her, otherwise Madonna is dead.

    I have always admired Madonna for expressing herself Unapologetically uniquely. One of the greatest trailblazers of all time. She nailed it in this powerful and authentic speech. A queen and a legend 🙌 ❤️💋 and an icon!!

    10.30minutes well spent. Madonna you're an inspiration. This speech changed my life, anything we do will never be accepted, so it's up to us to change the world. Break the grounds and make our own path. Thank you

    Madonna is the most real, honest, down-to-earth of the high-tier celebrities we still have with us. You can never pull the wool over her eyes. We need more people like her, in show business and otherwise.

    I grew up around the music industry here in Nashville, TN. She is absolutely right about this and I love her for telling the truth.

      Let’s quit this sycophantic sh*t. You can’t deny her place as one of the most successful artists of all time in terms of units sold - male or female, and she has certainly left her mark and made it easier for those girls who came after. An Icon? Absolutely ! Ultimately though not much innovation - Holiday, Get into the Groove and that image see Bananarama, Vogue see the New York dance scene etc. Can’t think of a single song (not talking record sales here) which would go down as ground breaking or a classic. The greatest singer of all time, really? I think Aretha, Whitney, Celine, Mariah and Adele might have something to say about that....get real

      @@DEAD-FROM-NY I think the poor old dear should stick around as long as she and her fans want. The tragedy is that she’s no longer relevant and can’t see it.

    Wow what an amazing speech. Madonna showing her vulnerabilities and how life has shaped the artist and woman we see before us ❤❤❤
