If a slime eats a plort that is not there own, then it is a largo. For example, if you have a rock and tabby, then feeding the rock with a tabby plort will make it a tabby rock slime. Getting a largo (hybrid) and feeding it another unrelated plort makes it a tarr.

- Rainbow Tarrs show up when a largo slime eats a plort of a different type other than the two that it's made of - so don't house two different kinds of largos together!
- If you feed a base slime their favorite food, they will drop two plorts instead of one; for example: phosphor slimes like cuberries.
- Make a garden, upgrade it, and plant pogofruit. A full harvest gives you 20. Fruits and veggies are super easy to grind - and you can easily get meat eater slime plorts by making largos of them with vegetarian slimes that way :)
Now go be like a SLIME RANCHER BOSS!!

If you have a Largo (your hybrid slimes), you need to be careful when you have another type of Largo with them in a corral. If a Largo decides to eat another Plort, they will evolve into a more dangerous type of slime. The Tarr. If you keep a Tarr in your Ranch, it will easily escape a corral and will eat all of your slime if left alone. It's best if you leave all different types of Largos in different corrals.

Ok, if a largo eats a different plort, they become Tarrs. Just keep all Largos of one type together in one corral. Right now, for example, you could have a Pink Tabby corral, a Pink Rock corral, and a Rock Tabby corral.

Okay, you can't mix largos. If they eat eachothers plorts they turn into tarrs.
To get a slime key you can give that giant tabby 30 or 40 chickens. Then you can access the area with the Honey slimes and the Boom slimes. Green ones are not implemented in the game yet.

The tabby only grants access to the teleporter, and it's 50 chickens. Also, feeding a phospher a cuberry (Favorite) or the tabby stony hens (favorite as well) will grant double the food "value". (25 Stony hens for tabby, and 50 cuberry for phosphor).

protip: Remember to check the *Slimepedia* and look at every slime's *favorite food*. Feeding them their *Favorite food* (for example giving cuberry to phosphor slime) will give *2 plorts* instead of one!

Jack!! As a seasoned Rancher let me share some important tips:
1. Those black slimes are called Tars, and they are created whenever a largo eats a plort thats different from the 2 plort types its made of (This is why you need to keep largos separate from other slime/largo types, as you would expect you can leave either of the 2 slime types that make up that largo in the same pen and they will be fine, but those slimes can end up eating the largos plorts and also turning into largos.
2. The empty pen areas in your ranch can be turned into Coops or Farms to grow Fruit, or raise chickens, for the Coops make sure you have a couple roostros and several hens, and they will reproduce (Put a coop next to your Tabby Slimes for easy feeding. (Also tabby slimes can be quite mischievous if they escape their pens, they steal food that they dont eat (like veggies and fruits) so if their ever in a pen with other slime types they can cause havoc)
3. The giant pink slime you saw earlier on in your playthrough is where you get the Slime Key, you have to feed him till he explodes (50 or so of anything) There is also a giant tabby slime (Right before the bridge to the area where you died) and a giant phosphorus slime in a cave that work the same.
In the interest of not making this post too dense I would recommend making rock tabby slimes for now as they will give you the highest value plorts (in addition to being adorable) just make sure they stay separate from other slime types, and have a good supply of carrots (Largos eat anything that the 2 slimes they are made up of can eat, so mixing a tabby with a rock allows the largo to eat either meat or veggies, carrots are of course easier and quicker to farm than chickens are to raise.

TIP FOR JACK: I was playing this game for a couple of hours and right when I was getting bored with it I found the "Slime Key" which opens up a gate (6:10) to a different part with two more types of slime... You know the big pink slime sitting on the island, just feed it and after awhile it explodes revealing the slime key.
Oh and if you see a gold slime... don't try to catch it, just shoot it.

For the big Tabby you shoot meat while for the Pink one you shoot fruits i think. Note: you'll be needing a lot since you have to shoot until they explode.

For all of you playing: The evil slimes (TARR) are created the same way largos are created, just using a largo.
So if you fed a Pink Boom Largo a Tabby Plort then an evil slime (TARR) will come.

Jack, you know how you can give slimes a different plort to grow into a Largo? DO NO give it a different plort. IE: If you have a Pink Tabby DO NOT give it a rock plort. It will turn into a tar. So try to keep different Largos apart to avoid getting Tars. When you make a chicken farm (very helpful) you need a Roostro and a Hen Hen to get Chickadoos. Also try to feed a slime their favorite food. They give you two plorts instead of one. Feed the big pink slime and the Big Tabby for prizes! Throwing Tars over the edge and to the water is good. But you can also spray them with water.

JACK! The Tarr dudes are make when a largo eats a plort that's not either of its types, the Pink Tabby turned into a Tarr because you mixed it in with the Pink Rocks and it ate a rock plort.
Also to get more meat you need to buy a chicken coop and put Hen-Hens and a Roostro in so they can make more chickens.

Jack, when you are playing slime rancher go over to one of the coral zones that you don't own and you can set up other things like hen hen coops and farms to grow crops. This will help you a lot because you won't have to run into the wilderness to get more. With the hen hen coops you just need to find some hen hens and roostros and through them inside and eventually you will get chickadoos and then more hen hens and roostros. I hope this will help you in the future Jack. :)

+MysticMowss yea, i love him but he seems kind of overwhelmed with this game. I feel the need to buy it, because it looks awesome, and because hes not putting two and two together. I figured if there was a hen and a rooster than you could breed them to feed the cats. And i figured the slimes become gremlins because they ate something they shouldnt have. The game kinda reminds me of a simplified version of pokemon, sometimes its more fun to look up stuff and get a game plan together rather than just winging it. Or if he doesnt want to look it up, just play it in his own time until he figures it out on his own. Dat rooster thing though.. man that hurt.

JACK!! I've got some good tips for you from watching other youtubers. So trust me ;)
1. Slime Keys give you access to new areas with new slimes, such as water slimes, book slimes etc.
You get a key by feeding those massive Slime Gordos, but you have to feed them 50+ pieces of food, the Phosphor Gordo and Pink Gordo give you
a key but the Tabby Gordo gives you a teleporter
2. You need to get more food, it is a vital part of any Slime Ranch, set up some Gardens and Coops to make meat, fruit and veg
3. The Tarr (those black and slightly multi coloured slimes) form when any Largo eats the plort of a third type of slime
e.g. If a Rock Phosphor Largo consumes a Tabby plort, it wills become a Tarr and make other slimes Tarr
4 Water kills Tarr, either shoot water at a Tarr of drop it into water to kill it
I won't give too many tips so you can figure some stuff out

The Taar* are formed when a Largo** eats a plort from another slime. Yours was formed when your Tabby-Pink largo ate a Rock Plort. Since the Tabby-Pink largo already ate one slime plort (You fed a Tabby Plort to a Pink Slime), it can only stay as those two. If you attempt to combine it with another, it creates the Taar.
*Taar: The large black slime that eats other slimes, and for each eaten slime it multiplies. They're basically the virus of the ranch you want to avoid.
**Largo: As you found out, a slime cominbation (For example, the large pink ones with spikes are Pink-Rock largo) that are formed when a slime eats a plort from another.

I think tar slimes spawn when a slime get spliced with 3 types (like pink rocky tabby) so a pink rocky ate a tabby plort from the pink tabby slime in there and got spliced too much.

If a big guy eats a plort that isnt his and is a different type it turns into a tar so basically dont mix different big ones together
And make sure you dont feed your rosters because they can produce more hen hens
