i think this is my favourite video of yours. it felt like everything you said (about the current housing fiasco, as well as the distinction between a house and a home) was something i at one point have felt, but never could articulate. the editing and building of tension you did in the second half was very well done. it feels almost cathartic to hear you talk about the anxieties that come with younger generations and home owning. i know i never will be able to afford a house. and even though i’ve continually told myself and others that i am fine with living in an apartment, or renting,,, it’s not true. i do want a stable place to call my own. but, y’know. **gestures to everything**
That is really gratifying to hear. I'm happy to get some of these things off my chest, though I hope it doesn't read as hopeless. Because I do think that stability is achievable, though it will require certain things to change.
@@HenryKathman despite the heavy subject, and the nihilism that usually pervades conversations around it, this video essay did not come off as hopeless at all. or at least, that’s not how i viewed it. you definitely did a good job highlighted the misgivings of society (insert joker meme) through the lens of ‘The House’. but this essay also contains a footnote that reads “it won’t be this way forever” just like rosa and the house at the end of part three, i also believe we will continue to adapt and evolve. cheers, and a fantastic job on this video
Dude talked about a Netflix film history and problems with society all in one video and managed to make it entertaining well done good sir also I just discovered your channel today actually the first video I watched was your remastered over the garden wall video good video as well I think I’ll watch more it’s always a nice time when I find a good channel😊🥰👍💯💕💞💖
i just picked up on this. 20::40--> Cosmo built that giant lever to be pushed in case change is wanted. Cosmo--the Universe--is there for us to Pull the Lever when we're ready
This video deserves way more views, it's amazing and I love it ❤ I just watched the movie thanks to the insistence of my son and I'm so happy I did. It's such a good movie. And your video is the perfect companion piece. As for my favorite segment, I'm battling between 2 and 3. The side of me that loves horror/dark comedy appreciates the insanity of the developer's story, but my wholesome side feels all fuzzy inside with Rosa's 😅
I just watched The House for the first time the other day, and it's become one of my all-time favorite movies. I went to RUclips looking for reviews and explanations to see what others thought of all the symbolism and none of them really delivered what I wanted. So far, you've been the only person to deliver the deep analysis of this film in the way I was looking for. Thank you for this video.
This is the best essay I’ve seen on this movie that’s captivated me, really well done video. I was grasping at any and all inference I could gather from the meaning of this movie and its three parts. Thank you for doing your homework 😂
Your analysis of the housing crisis is insightful but then you advocate for the destruction of the working and middle class you claim to be speaking for by saying society should become a rootless, placeless, godless and cosmopolitan favela
Uuummm, idk where you got the godless part from in my saying that maybe we shouldn’t make the basic need of housing heavily tied to profit, cause that definitely wasn’t the intent.
To oversimplify it to a crazy degree, Houses were kind of just designed to suit whatever environment that they were placed in depending on the culture. Not to say that single family homes are inherently bad, but I think that making them the standard in places like the United States have become increasingly unsustainable. Personally, I feel like the best step to take with the future of housing is to construct them in ways that best adhere to their present environment rather than the suburban uniformity that has been promoted for the past 200 years.
Great analysis of the movie. However, your statements about housing market of the real world, clearly shows your lack of intellect on the subject matter. Especially when you babbled on about climate change.
What did you think of the House? What was your favorite segment?
probably the 1st
3rd!
The 3rd one was breathtakingly heartwarming.
I thought the 2nd was really charming, but the 3rd definitely takes top spot
The first 2

The House is my favorite movie of 2022 so far and deserves more love.

Ok that false ad you made was very effectively creative and creepy.
Thank you! It’s been a fun process of learning how to stretch after effects for things like that

I appreciate that, as that lack of analysis was motivation for making this video as well

Nice video
I hadn't thought about the films connection to architecture like that.
I've heard of Georgian architectural styles (over the garden Wall) but I never really understood what that meant until now. Thank you
Man I already wish for a part 2 with 3 new stories after watching this Netflix's The House
Wouldn't have thought of watching it if it wasn't for this video, thanks!
Glad to be able to recommend it.
How does this have so little reach? this video is amazing !! loved it !!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! If you want to give it a little more reach, consider sharing it with someone you know
Were it so easy to fix as flipping a switch.
Indeed, but such work becomes easier when more people work together.
Well done, Henry.

Goodness
👍
a bit late but i loved this video!
Glad you liked it!!
what a good vid! I finally watched the movie after seeing you made a video about it
Will there be another infinity episode
Thus channel is underrated
A great analyse of a great movie!
What were houses like before single family designs?
