I love the advice Lisa gave about how she gave people permission to get rid of the items her mother wanted them to have. There is so much power in that! I learned this when I was decluttering and I had a (hideous) little clown doll (that probably came from the dollar store, but my grandmother had given it to me so I felt like I’d be betraying her if I were to part with it. My cousin (who shared the same precious grandmother) literally came to my house, gave me verbal permission to get rid of the item, held me as I cried (once again over the loss of such a wonderful person), and was with me as I got rid of the ridiculous clown doll. I will never forget my cousin being there for me like that

I'm 68 years old and learning to play the piano because I've always wanted to play, but never had the opportunity until now.

How's it going? I also wanted to learn to play the piano... I'm 59 and thought maybe it's too late for me.

@@MaggieLoveMTC It's going good. I'm learning from how to play the piano books designed for 5, 6, and 7 year olds. It's a bit boring, but it's good for me as I have a lot of trembling, and my brain was attacked by a virus many years ago so I have a hard time remembering. I'm as intelligent as I ever was but the brain processes info real s-l-o-w now. I'm loving it.

    • @MaggieLoveMTC

@@intigniadickey2224 That's awesome...glad to know you're enjoying it. It takes me longer to process things or to keep information in my head, I feel. That is why I hesitate to go for the piano lessons, but we'll see. I also love dancing (my passion) and always wanted to learn the Latin dances. I found lessons on RUclips I want to try...I just need to make time. Might be better if I sign up for classes as I have a full house (6 adults) and I feel like they are in my way...Lol. Thanks for responding.

What a great episode! Love all of you! To the question about giving the mom's things to special people in her life. If you know who the people were, but not the specific items she wanted each to have, you could say, "Hey, mom thought a lot of you and wanted you to have something. Is there anything here that you would like to remember her by?" Then she gets to still do something nice for everyone, they get what they want or need, and you don't have to tell a white lie. Hope that helps.

My mother in law's home had 40 years of her parents & family's cast offs. She could never part with them because they were "valuable" to others (most of whom were dead). When she passed last year, we were tasked with cleaning out a 3,000 sq ft home full of crap no family member wanted or even offered to assist with. The irony was they'd protested at any attempt of minimizing over the years even when it would have made her life easier.
