The Dodge Dakota build videos take a long time to put together so I figured I'd start throwing some extra videos like this out there to hold you guys over! Especially if you're still quarantined like I am. I had some time after everyone else was asleep to repair this grinder so I decided to fire up the camera so you guys could following along. Nothing complex or difficult, just some good old fashion fixin' on the fabrication man's best friend- the angle grinder. Give it a like if you enjoy it!
One of my old W6-115 Metabo angle grinders (10+ years of service) was not working- RPMs were inconsistent and wandering, and it seemed to be losing power. So here I show you how to disassemble, diagnose, and repair an angle grinder that's broken. Turns out it had a bad motor bearing at the pinion gear. I also show you the best way to deal with a Harbor Freight Drill Master angle grinder that isn't working right.
After finding the problem and fixing it by replacing the bearing, we put it back together, avoid damaging the brushes, and do some basic maintenance while we're there. This is specifically for a Metabo grinder but the process is relatively the same for most standard angle grinders. Thanks for watching!
I’ve heard good things about those angle grinders
Yeah I love the two I have. This one has been working great for years and the other is their low-profile one that you see me using to sand down the frame in my last build video. That one is a game changer for anybody using an angle grinder in tight spaces. I like it so much that I'm going to do a video just about that grinder haha. By comparison the DeWalt I have is fine but there are little things that drive me crazy with it
Metabo = 10 years of service before repair. Drill Master = 10 minutes of service before trashing.
Yes,that's a fact!
I like the "It couldn't hurt..." about putting MORE grease in the cavity as well;
rebuilt my Milwaukee recip.,&said the SAME thing. It didn't hurt...but the first 10 minutes was messy!
LOVE THIS CHANNEL! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the good words! I appreciate the support guys 👍
Thats my dream truck ,just with a cummins 4bt. Dodge ram axles wouldnt work? The rear one bolts right in doesnt it?
Ram axles would work but the super duty front is a lot stronger and better for this type of build. From there I just wanted to match the front and rear bolt patterns. I've thought about a diesel in this thing but figure I better finish what I've started before tearing in to any more parts of this truck 🤣
I see the ole one ton swap caught up to the angle grinder? Mines definitely been taking a tole on both of mine.
Haha didn't even think of that. But yeah 10 years of grinding was a hard enough life- the casting was the final straw! Thanks for watching 👍
Going to finish the dakota?
Definitely! I moved so progress slowed down for a bit but I have a new video coming in a week or so and I'm back to working on it. My IG "WebWheeler" shows the current state of the build- I'm really behind on editing haha. Thanks for watching 👍
What ever happened to the Dakota build? Its been a long time.
Working on it right now! I'm just way behind on editing- moved recently so that's been taking up a ton of my time. Should have a new video out within a week though 👍
@@WebWheeler good to hear looking forward to it. Also is your dakota an r/t? I ask because I noticed you said its an 02 but looks like it has a 318 or 360 looking at the intake plenum when you rolled it in to the shop to work on the front.
Hey man sorry just saw this! It's not an RT (it's an SLT) but it does have the 360 v8 👍 thanks for watching!
