I discovered Eva 10 years after her passing. It was instant love. I then set out to learn everything I could about her. A remarkable lady. As long as we listen to her sing, she will never be forgotten.

Serbs, you’ve encountered a beautiful soul and a brilliant singer and musician. I would recommend the CD ‘Eva Cassidy-Live at Blues Alley. The latter is in 8:17 Washington, DC. She passed too early from skin cancer at the tender age of 33. We are blessed to have her oeuvre on video and CD. There’s a version of ‘Over the Rainbow’ (Wizard of Oz) and ‘Fields of Gold’ (by Sting) are legendary. Sting, after hearing her ‘Fields of Gold’ says she owned the song, not him. God bless, Marianne ❤😇 7:40

I've heard this song by many artists, but this is the first time I've ever heard Eva Cassidy. She was amazing, and this is now my favorite version of Stormy. Monday. Thanks so much, Sebs, and congrats on the new-to-you dream guitar.

I know you watched the "Nightline" episode from 2001; but, there's a newer doc with her band from 2021 that has some really good insights into her musicality:

A lot of people discover Eva via "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and it is a stunning version. But then you get around to her blues and jazz I think she may be even better.

My goodness, she was just brilliant. Her rendition of Danny Boy is my favorite. P.S. Wow, I wish I had your friends. That is a great guitar. I'd love to have a Made in the USA Telecaster with Single Coils. I have the 2007 USA STRATOCASTER DELUXE, but would probably trade it for a Telecaster. Good for you

Eva was the most complete singer who ever lived. It's insane that the same woman who sang blues standards like Stormy Monday and Chain of Fools also sang jazz standards like Cheek to Cheek and Autumn Leaves and country classics like Danny Boy and My Coat of Many Colors and folk songs like You Take My Breath Away and Kathy's Song and pop ballads like Over the Rainbow and Time After Time ... and arguably set the gold standard for each and every tune. If that's not insane, nothing is.

Hey Sebs, I can't help but shed a few tears when I listen to the late great Eva Cassidy. I grew up listening to this angelic voice because she was one of my mother's favorite artists. And my mother has been gone for some time now. But I don't mind the tears because there's beautiful memories mixed with the sad ones as well. I thought I'd suggest another group to give a listen, if interested. *"The Staple Singers - If You're Ready Come Go With Me" (by the channel: Stax Records)* --This is a song by "The Staple Singers" and is from their album called "Be What You Are." This tune spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Magazine's Hot Soul Singles Chart in 1973. And it peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. The album became a gold record. The Staple Singers were an Amercian gospel, soul, R&B singing music group that was founded in Chicago in the 1950's. The group consisted of Roebuck "Pops" Staples, which was the patriarch of the family and his children Cleotha, Pervis, and Mavis. They were known for their powerfully soulful harmonies and beautiful vocals. And as always, I enjoyed hanging out listening to great music with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~

Eva Cassiday is one of the greatest blues singers..., she was humble. She could have made it to fame and glory, but she refused to conform over to Hollywood. Her way or no way. She had deep convictions, and would not sing how big record labels wanted her to. She's a legend...totally. May she rest in peace and sing with the angels in heaven ❤

Dude, Go look at the "San Francisco Bay Blues" Somebody mercifally put out the stuff...but she's singing this song so AMAZING. Please watch "San Francisco Bay Blues" I'm not kidding. Many people put this on their playlist. It is even better than Stormy monday. Because...when she's singing San Francisco Bay Blues song......she's playing the effing blues guitar there. NO autotune. Like, if your listen to it you'd think Ok that's a wrap.

I greatly encourage your journey into the blues. One of the aspects of playing the blues is the difference between single coil pups and humbuckers. The tonality is completely different.
I am not dissing Teles. BUT you have seen what Stevie can do with a strat he pulled tones out of a single coil nobody has ever done again.
NOW you need to experience that level of tonal performance on a Les Pual. You will want one of those as well.
Gary Moore is who I am recommending for your education.
I hope you go down that path as well
This is the best vid I can find Keep searching, practice practice practice!

Just discovered her recently and purchased some of her amazing music. Ironically, she grew up one town over from me in Bowie, Prince Georges County MD. I lived in Landover Hills..... not far from where the Commanders play. She had one of those voices that could do ANY genre justice; jazz, country, blues, R&B, rock...... you name it. How sad the world did not discover her b4 we lost this superstar to cancer. RIP Eva and TY for the music you left us. Great reaction, TY.
