Tom Jones had a TV Variety Show and the network had to keep the camera above the waist because he had some get hip action dancing!! WOW!! His voice is still phenomenal. ❤
@nancyjohnson2070 That's right, it was a great show. My mother and her friend used to hide out with us in the kids bedroom and watch him on a little bitty black and white TV while the dad's watched sports in the living room. Both Mama's would nearly swoon when he sang. TJ has many songs I love, but my fave is probably Take a Letter Maria. You should check him out Sebs.
Sorry.. but I spewed my water when you said ‘who is that’! Those of us of a certain age grew up with this guy… you might enjoy listening to ‘It’s Not Unusual’.. you’ll enjoy it! He’s 84 now, still performing.. he’s one of the judges on The Voice UK. These two together are something else; thanks for sharing!
I had never seen this before - what a treat!! The great Mark Knopfler and the great Tom Jones together, Yay!!! I can't believe you've never heard of Tom Jones, he is in his 80s and still has an amazing voice.
He played the Beacon Theater in NYC last night!!! I see he sang 18 songs, followed by a 3 song encore. The encore: One Hell of a Life(Katell Keineg cover), Strange Things Happening Every Day(Sister Rosetta Tharpe cover), Johnny B. Goode(Chuck Berry cover).
Tom Jones was a Welsh coal miner whose voice was discovered in the early '60's, and he became an iconic singer on both sides of the Atlantic. He had a very long and illustrious career, with many hits singles, and was one of those male sex symbols, like Elvis, where women would throw their panties at him from the audience. He's had some fun collabs over the years, too. His style was more traditional, not rock or folk, but more pop.
That was sooo funny when you heard Tom's voice then wondered who he was! Cracked me up. Tom had such an iconic voice and he was extremely dominate when I was growing up. Everyone loved him. Glad you appreciated his voice! And he's getting better with age. Unbelievable.
I hadn’t either - thanks Sebs! Please, please react to Tom Jones’ song “I Who Have Nothing” (it’s got to be the live version from his show). It will seriously blow you away!
HAHAHA... "Who is THIS..?" Love it Seb... THAT is Tom Jones, the Welsh Wizard. Who had his first hit in 1965....!!!! Tom is a real R&B legend... one of those wihite guys that can actually sing the blues. Tom is still going, still singing and one of the judges on The Voice..!! That is why I clicked on the video... to see the two of them together... !! Absolutely brilliant.
Tom Jones is incredible, he still has that voice at the age of 84. Mark.... Well Mark is simply one of the greatest of all time. Legends. Remarkable collaboration. Mark is linked with all the greats, and rightly so. Excellent reaction.
Tom Jones was a contemporary of Elvis Presley. Some say he was the UK's answer to the King. They met several times. I am pretty sure if Elvis was around to day, he would give Sir Tom massive respect. Oh wait. I just searched youtube for Tom Jones with Elvis Presley. I got Elvis Presley Tom Jones Duet I'll never fall in Love again. Mind. Blown.
I’m the biggest Mark Knopfler fan - but picking who’s the biggest legend between him and Tom Jones is impossible. And what a performance from both of them, great choice! Thanks for this.
Watching you marvel, get lost in the music. Touches your soul. That’s why I tune into your videos. Although I’m not a musician I am a music lover. Folk classic rock, and mostly blues.
I’m 70 and I’ve loved Tom Jones since I was a little girl, was lucky enough to see him live in Las Vegas 35 years ago. This video of him with Mark is beautiful. Two icons together.
OMG. "Who is THAT guy?" I love your reactions Seb! I''m retired and have time now to peruse the wide world out in RUclips land. Your channel is my favorite. You give sincere and thoughtful comments on so many icons from my youth. THANK YOU 🩵
The best singer, and the best guitarist, of the last 50 years, that's who. Watch Tom Jones, about 30 years before this -5:44 in black and white on the Dusty springfield show, singing I'm Never Going to Fall in Love Again -live, with an orchestra, no autotune -it will take your breath away.
Your reaction to the voice of Tom Jones was priceless. His voice is still as strong and he’s in his 80’s now. Check him out. Tom Jones is awesome. AND I’m a huge fan of Mark Knopfler. Have many of his albums.
Just love Sebs Duran...so expressive and interesting.................and I get goosebumps from Marks guitar every time....and to crown it off Sir Tom Jones.....what a singer......the Welsh men and women speak so beautifully don't they..................great job bro....really enjoyed this one...keep up the good work....cheers
Sir Tom Jones one of the great GOATS!!!! I have loved him since the 60's - his "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" is iconic!!!! - Some called him the Welsh Elvis - truly one of the greatest singers since the '60's - a very deep dive & his movements on stage are so similar to Elvis!!!
Sir Tom Jones has been singing with his beautiful voice since I was a little girl and I’m 67 now. The man can still sing with that full and fruitful voice today, he is amazing. I love the Green green grass of home and What’s up Pussycat?, Delilah and so many more; you should check him out, out.
You absolutely MUST listen to Tom Jones "'ll Never Fall In Love Again" - make sure it's the black and white video when he was young!!! It will knock your socks off!!!
Two legends. Tom Jones was one of the most popular singers in the '60s - at least in the U.K., I don't know about the USA. Knoffler is awesome and he does fabulous live concerts. Thank you.
I just about fell out of my recliner when you said "and who's that!?" Sebs, you have so much of our great music to catch on. I'm 66 and think that I grew up through the best musical era, everyone does I guess. I was an avid musician and lover of rock, blues, bluegrass and soul, but I haven't found all of the great music, even from my era and yet I still listen to new music as well, mostly alternative rock or female artists.
Man, I'm so happy you reacted to this song. Thank you Steve G for the recommendation. The guitar work is astonishingly good. When you said "who's this guy", referring to Tom Jones, I feared the comments section may go nuts. Tom Jones is a pretty big deal, at least in the UK. Personally, I've never been a massive fan of his work, but there's no disputing his pipes. He can sing! Mark Knopfler is my hero, always has been. I grew up listening to Dire Straits. I loved when you reacted to the Alchemy version of Sultans of Swing, and would absolutely love to see your reaction to the Alchemy version of Telegraph Road. In my humble opinion, it's a masterpiece of song writing, guitar playing and piano. Whatever you decide to react to, I hope you continue on your Dire Straits / Mark Knopfler journey. Much love to you and your family man, and I hope you can justify that Les Paul one day soon ♥
'Who's that???'😅One of the best guitarists and one of the best Singers...great Collaboration!Check out some more Tom Jones songs...sure you'll know some of them already!😉
Wow Sebs, I've never heard this song before either and I'm 58! That was very interesting. I've never really been a Tom Jones fan per se, although I grew up hearing his music. I am a huge Dire Straits and Mark Knoepler fan though... and it was really nice to hear them perform this together. I had no idea this even existed. I really love watching your reactions to music I've loved for a long time, but here you go surprising me with something I've never heard. It was cool to experience that with you. Thanks so much for this channel. I really enjoy watching your reactions-- you are a breath of fresh air in this world. Props.
I'm Japanese and a blues lover. Blues always make me feel safe and filled at night, walking outside under stars or before going to bed. I'll keep listening to this song with your reaction and also dig deep the genre ''Blues''.
My Dad is a HUGE fan of Tom Jones, I've seen him many times in my childhood and a couple of time into my adulthood. He is definitely one of the best of all time! Love your channel!
I think you'll struggle to find a reaction channel that hasn't reacted to Tom Jones, I'll never fall in love again, it shows you just how great Tom Jones is.
This is surreal. Someone mis-pronouncing Mark Knopfler's name, and not knowing who the immortal Tom Jones is.... but appreciating every moment of their performances. Rock on, brother!
Also I have to say - to have someone who doesn’t know Tom Jones at all, and then have that eyes wide open reaction as soon as he starts singing? Shows both how incredible Tom Jones is, and how well this RUclipsr recognises talent when he hears it. Excellent.
Sir Tom Jones is one the greatest singers of all time. An icon and still performing today in his 80s just completed a European tour. Mark and Tom are both masters of the craft. You keep saying who is this guy the clue is in the title of the video.
"Who's that?" Mate you have no idea...only just one of the best male vocalist to have ever lived! Tom Jones, Welsh legend - GOAT. Check out I'll never fall in love again (live 1965 performance). He had his own TV show and everyone wanted to sing with Tom. If you want to loose your mind check out his duet with Wilson Pickett (one of my favourites).
Tom Jones was and still is one of the best ever. He’s why I’m listening. You should check out his recent songs like The Tower of Song. At 80+ years he still has that voice.
I laughed hard when you said, "Who is that?!" You are absolutely excused for both not knowing either of these icons; they're from my formative years and I'm in my sixties. Great job at showing respect to these amazing musicians. The Knotting Hillbillies is an album you should listen to. This song is from that.
Thanks for the video Sebs. I once again got chills listening to the guitar. It's gratifying when people enjoy your suggestion as much as you hope they will.
If you're born in the middle of the last century like me (1954) - well you probably will be called old. That was our kind of music. That's what they played on the radio - in the discos.
I've always enjoyed hearing Mark Knopfler play, but seeing the title with Tom Jones and him together really got my attention. Tom Jones was huge back in the 70s. My memory of him was kind of unique. I graduated high school in 1976 from Tehran American School (yeah, that Tehran). Our bus ride home everyday was at least an hour. Our bus driver had an 8 track tape player and he had a Tom Jones greatest hits tape that he would play almost everyday. As much as I heard it, I never got tired of his voice, it's probably the most distinctive voice that I've ever heard. I love your channel, you never disappoint and it's fun to see discover the music I grew up with. Continue your journey.
Wow, I never knew this existed! How wonderful! Two legends together - thank you for this! 🙂 There is a wonderful video of Mark Knopfler with Chet Atkins doing a free flowing medley which is SUCH a delight - two guitarists delighting in each other's playing. ruclips.net/video/5wTVLIZaxMk/видео.html Also, if you've seen it, Knopfler does the soundtrack for The Princess Bride.
Hearing you say “who is THIS guy?” I think I speak for all of us who knew the answer to that when I say we all smiled, knowing you have discovered another absolutely legendary rabbit hole worth every hour you will spend exploring it. Tom Jones is one of those people whose career has spanned peoples’ lifetimes, and whose concerts were filled with female admirers whose greatest dream was to bring Tom Jones’s home with them. Great watching you discover a world we grew up in and which we all appreciate very much.
Tom Jones, arguably one of the best voices ever, still sounding great today. Check out his live duet with Peter Donegan on The Voice - one of his early hits, I'll Never Fall In Love Again. Classic!
That is Sir Tom Jones, Kmight Of The Realm and Welsh former coal miner who turned singer. You might like to listen to his performance from the 1960s - I'll Never Fall In Love Again - live on British TV and in front of a studio audience. An easy 10 out of 10.
Stellar vocals from Tom Jones, as always. He was one of my mom and dad's faves, hence he became one of mine, too. After recently losing my dad and my mom is fairly ill, this song definitely 'Took Me Home' 🥹 to some precious childhood memories. Now ya gotta listen to Tom Jones' Delilah for my folks ... and then the rest of his huge rabbit hole ... wait! That doesn't sound right ... let's try his huge catalogue 😉
One of Mark's inspirations, particularly in terms of his picking style, was country guitarist, "Mr. Guitar", Chet Atkins. Well worth your time as a fan of guitarists of all types.
I also recommend I’ll Never Fall in Love Again by Sir Tom Jones, he’s in his 80s now and unlike some of his contemporary artists his voice is still great. He’s a judge on the UK talent show The Voice.
Sorry, I know how many reactors actually weren't in touch with music in a broader sense for most of there lives. Still, I had to laugh when Seb went "WHO IS THIS?" Sir Tom Jones. Legend in the world, God in Wales. First record contract in 1964. First hit in 1965 and with many many more to follow. After his career slowed down during the seventies, he showed a real sense of 'now' when he scored a big hit in 1988 with a cover of Kiss (Prince) together with The Art Of Noise. More very contemporary collaborations were to follow. Amazing career. Nice bloke.
Knopfler had a guitar collection which he sold recently at auction in London it made 11 million dollars which he gave to Charity. Pretty down to earth. Tom Jones is a massive star in the UK. Did about 10years residency in Vegas.
LOL, "Who's that!?" There are millions of people who would be stunned to be told that Mark Knopfler was somehow more famous than Sir Tom Jones, the pride of Wales and the heartthrob of a generation. Seriously, Tom Jones is a legendary vocal talent.
It’s Tom Jones man, (you must know!!!) plus Mark Knoplfer, two absolute legends of music. Man….you need to be educated. Tom-legendary voice, Mark- legendary guitarist. Oh and yeah, he can play blues (and Sir Tom can sing it!)
Tom Jones is possibly the most underrated vocalist of a time. Check out his library. He’s in his eighties and still is out there makin’ not to be forgotten tunes ! By the way , he was one of Elvis’s best friends.
The guitar is akin to a natural extension of Mark's body... He is best known for his unique guitar-plucking style, his amazing tone and his unique phrasing, which contribute to his extraordinary ability to elicit nuanced emotions through his guitar, usually producing a visceral impact on the listener. In addition to all of that, Mark is actually left handed, but is playing guitar with his right, whilst making it all look so easy! If you want to really see the breathtaking musicianship of both Mark and Dire Straits, and the kind of epic musical masterpiece they could collectively produce, you have to treat yourself to their performance of "Telegraph Road" from the Alchemy Live concert. Other different but spectacular examples of Mark's talent are also on display in "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "Private Investigation," also from Alchemy Live.
I can't believe you have never heard of Welshman Sir Tom Jones. He had his own American TV show, was a resident performer in Las Vegas for many years. He had 19 top 40 hits in the States, was a good friend of Elvis. Received a Grammy for best new artist in 1966 and is still going strong at the age of 84. As for Mark that's how you play guitar with feel, you don't need flashy runs like most reactors swoon over. Feeling wins every time.
Tom Jones, one of the best singers of all time. Icon.
He was holding back too. Powerful voice!
Tom Jones had a TV Variety Show and the network had to keep the camera above the waist because he had some get hip action dancing!! WOW!! His voice is still phenomenal. ❤

a duet with beth hart would have been awsome
I suggest Tom Jones teamed up with The Art Of Noise performing Kiss. 🔥

Sir Tom Jones! Absolute legend! He’s 84 and still singing his heart out! Love him!.
And his voice just keeps getting better!

Sir Tom Jones is one of the GOATs. I would recommend a live performance ( black and white ) from 1965. " I will never fall in love again "
totally second this recommendation. You will love it. Get Ali in there to comment on what a hottie Tom Jones was in his prime. 😂

Funnily enough, there are probably more people of a certain age who know Tom Jones than know Mark Knopfler. Both world class masters of their craft.
“Who’s that?” That young man is Sir Tom Jones! He has done it all! Another legend of music
I have loved Tom Jones since I was young, watching his variety show. Now at 84, he is still touring and still sounds amazing.
Two of the best performers this world has ever seen and heard, timeless perfection. ❤️
Tom Jones was a Welsh coal miner whose voice was discovered in the early '60's, and he became an iconic singer on both sides of the Atlantic. Love it! "Who's that!?" Now you've got a whole new rabbit hole to go down. Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink and Welsh tenors in general.
I was thinking the same about Tom. A huge rabbit hole to go down!
Tom Jones is more than a Legend and more than an Icon.. and still going strong today at his age... respect to him.

This is a step above a MASTER CLASS preformance.
Tom Jones, arguably one of the best voices ever, still sounding great today. Check out his live duet with Peter Donegan on The Voice - one of his early hits, I'll Never Fall In Love Again. Classic!
He also does a fantastic duet with Stevie Wonder. It is so good!
Tom Jones on his TV show in 1965 singing live the AMAZING "I Who Have Nothing" Mindblowing!!!
YES! YES! This song shows his incredible vocal range and leaves one in disbelief.
lovely song and both mark and Tom are great
Mark Knopfler had a finger picking style that was so unique, a guitar virtuoso.
One of the greats.
Cracking me up...who's this guy? Tom Jones. Dude there's like 70 years of him singing out there. He's in his 80's and still sings.
THIS IS BREATAKING!! TY for posting!
Tom Jones is also a coach on The Voice Global.
I have enjoyd watching him on the voice uk. Can't believe how good his voice still is.
I love your show, Brother. And I feel so old when I watch you not recognize who people like Sir Tom Jones is. Granted, I AM old. Hahahahaha.
Knophler is the master of tasty licks.
That is Sir Tom Jones, Kmight Of The Realm and Welsh former coal miner who turned singer. You might like to listen to his performance from the 1960s - I'll Never Fall In Love Again - live on British TV and in front of a studio audience. An easy 10 out of 10.
Deadly duo ever since..
Knophler is a legend, too!
Who is Tom Jones??? hahaha that made me laugh. He is a national treasure, that's who he is. One hell of a voice.
If you want more incredible guitar work, check out B.B. King. One of the best, if not the best, blues guitarists of our time.
I was lucky enough to see B.B. King live and he had Peter Green playing up on stage the whole night - magic
Tom Jones and Elvis were buddies. Elvis hailed him as the best singer he knew...
Elvis loved Roy Obison as well.
Sir Tom Jones the best to ever come out of Wales. He is a world treasure!! He’s 84 years old & still sounds just as iconic!!
I'm a country boy, but I love what you are doing with EVERYTHING.
Tom Jones is an icon. 80+ years old and still performing.
One of Mark's inspirations, particularly in terms of his picking style, was country guitarist, "Mr. Guitar", Chet Atkins. Well worth your time as a fan of guitarists of all types.
He can check out the Neck and Neck album they made together! 😃
I love both Tom Jones and Mark Knopfler, but I hadn't heard this. This is amazing. Thanks.
Sir Tom Jones and Mark Knopfler, are both treasures please explore both..
Still, I had to laugh when Seb went "WHO IS THIS?"
Sir Tom Jones.
Mark K. is galactically underrated.
TOM JONES, one of the greats. He's in his 80s and still sounds great!
Agreed, I’ve never seen this before but both are great. Definitely check out some Tom Jones, he’s electric (particularly live from the ‘60s). Enjoy!!!
