phenex (standard) has no tails, narrative ver has the tails, the narrative has a more yellowish gold to it (its in the video). As for your second question, they arent different suits, this is, pertaining gunpla releases, standard version is the baseline variant of the suit, having the "narrative ver" meaning this is the suit rereleased as it was portrayed in the movie Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative

I have the narrative ver. but Jesus the nubs are horrible! I stopped building it after doing the chest and both arms, I just could not get past the nub marks even when using the paint marker. Maybe one in the future I'll go back to finishing it.
So the narrative has a more godly gold and pig tails and the normal has white gold and no pig tails. My only issue with the kit is decals (as you said) and scratching parts during transformation.
Pretty much, but paint wasn't really coming off during transformation, but it doesn't hurt to be extra careful, like dont use tools, its nubmark removal that really chips bits of the paint off

maybe haha, it depends on you and what you look for in a kit, if youre the type of collector that collects this sort of thing, its one of the current holy grail kits.. but if youre just after a good modelling experience rather than the sake of having that specific one, then the PG unicorn/banshee norn are great kits in of themselves.. that or 3-8 MG's, or ascend into Godhood with this haha. PERSONALLY sure its price tier is nuts (special coated AND pbandai) but if it will make you happy, you cant put a price on that (as long as you have the funds for it and that its not taking away from obligations).

If you have done decals yet, you can use Future to seal the gold without ruining the finish.

What metallic gold marker did you utilize? Not sure if the Gundam Marker would be able to cover up those pesky nubs well enough.

How did you deal with the fixing the gold coating after you cut them from the runners and to remove the nubs?
